President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the killing of an Igbo trader, Bridget Patiece Agbahime, by an angry mob in Kano state for allegedly insulting the Prophet Mohammed.

In a series of tweets on his Twitter handle, the President called on Nigerians to maintain peace while he commended the Kano state governor, Umar Ganduje, for being proactive in ensuring that the perpetrators were arrested.

Earlier today, online media platform, Premium Times, reported exclusively that President Buhari had taken ill and was being treated at the state house hospital (Read here).

The Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has debunked the report. In an interview with The Cable, Femi Adesina, said the report was not true and that President Buhari is as fit as a fiddle.

He said President Buhari only yesterday received Anglican bishops who paid him a courtesy visit at the state house Abuja yesterday June 3rd

“Didn’t you see pictures of him receiving Anglican bishops yesterday (Friday)? Did he look sick? The president is as fit as a fiddle. Anyone who says he is sick is telling lies. That is a figment of the person’s imagination. Just yesterday he received the primate of the Anglican Communion and arch bishops at the presidential villa. He also received former President Olusegun Obasanjo (pictured). He is hale and hearty. The imagination of whoever says that is on overdrive.”he said

Asked why President Buhari had in recent times delegated functions to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Adesina said

“The presidency is one. The president has a right to delegate duties to his deputy, who is the vice-president, and that is what he has done.”he said

Premium Times reports that President Buhari is ill and is being treated at the presidential villa.

“The president has an infection in his left ear, otherwise called Meniere Disease, a challenge which has drastically reduced his outings in the last one week. As a result of the infection, the president now suffers hearing impairment and routinely complains of severe pains and unusual sounds from that ear, those familiar with his condition told Premium Times.

Mr. Buhari, who clocked 73 last December, was said to have confirmed it to some dignitaries who visited him in the past days, explaining to some of them that that was why he was unable to visit Lagos and Rivers as scheduled. He was also said to have told some of his guests that he was struggling to give his failing health a major attention.

He is currently being treated by his personal physician and other experts from the State House Clinic, our sources said.

An official said the president might seek treatment abroad if his condition does not improve in the next few days. Despite hearing difficulty, the president, our sources said, managed to attend Jumaat service and host some important visitors, including former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan as well as some clergymen on Friday.

Presidential spokespersons could not be reached to comment for this story on Friday night. While calls to the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, failed to go through, Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant on media and publicity did not answer or return calls.

The Family member also revealed she was beaten to death because she asked a Muslim man not to pray in front of her shop.

Mummy Bridget is 74years old. She was seated at her shop at kofar wambai which a market for plastic as at 3-4pm thereabout only for a Muslim guy to come in front of mummy’s shop towards closing time to perform ablution (washing of their feet before their prayers).

Mummy then told him not to do that in front of her shop, instantly he the guy started arguing with her, saying she has insulted Allah for preventing him from performing his ablution. He then went to alert his fellow muslim brothers..

Her husband daddy was with her as at that time. They took her to report the issue to a head in the market..Which was too late because an angry muslim mob were already forming, chanting Allahu Akbar and that she must be killed for blasphemy.. Preventing the young man from performing his ablution was what they termed blasphemy.

Immediately daddy saw it has generated into a mini riot, one of their Alhaji’s drew mummy into his office addressing the crowd that they should calm down and protocols will be followed which they refused and were stoning things at the man in his office.

When they prevailed, they dragged her and her husband. When daddy was sitting down, he was looking at the way they were hitting mummy on her head with iron rods and sticks but he dared not say anyhing if not he will be lynched too. Mummy’s blood was splashing on daddys body as they kept hitting her. Eventually she died.

Then the police came to disperse the crowd and took her body to the mortuary.. As of yesterday, her corpse was lying at Aminu Kano teaching hospital but was to be transferred to a more secured hospital cos the Muslims were saying that they wanted to smuggle into the hospital to get her body then behead her cos that’s their punishment for blasphemy..

Mummy was not beheaded she was beaten and stonned to death.

So, yesterday, late last night…there were reports that there was a kidnap attempt on the mother of the Governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode..but it has been denied.

The Lagos State Governor on Saturday denied media reports claiming that a kidnap attempt was made on his mother, Mrs Christianah Ambode at her residence in Gbagada area of the State on Friday evening.

The governor, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruna, denied the media report, saying that it was not a true reflection of what transpired at the residence of his mother. An online newspaper had claimed that heavily armed gunmen invaded the Governor’s mother’s residence and disarmed the octogenarian’s police detail in an apparent attempt to abduct her. The newspaper had further reported that the unfortunate development took place at about 7:30pm, while a back-up team arrived at the scene at about8:10pm.

Responding, Aruna said: “Whilst it is true that a commotion occurred at the residence of the Governor’s mother on the fateful day, it was however far from the truth that it was a kidnap attempt. “What really transpired was that a man parked his vehicle in front of the residence of the Governor’s mother and the security detail attached to the building asked him not to park there so as not to block the entrance. “The man who claimed to be a military personnel was not in uniform as at the time of the unfortunate incident but he insisted on parking in front of the building on the ground that he was a military personnel.

“He then went on to invite military personnel attached to Operation MESA to beat Mrs. Ambode’s police details after he was advised not to park his vehicle outside the building. “The unfortunate part was that the newspaper rightly reported this aspect of the development in the body of the story but still claimed in the lead paragraph that it was an apparent kidnap attempt.

“While we would like to put on record that the disturbance was not a kidnap attempt on the Governor’s mother as nothing untoward happened to her, we also like to caution against needless sensational journalism which could cause unnecessary panic. “At the moment, officials of the State Government are taking appropriate steps to sanction the unruly military personnel who joined their colleague to disturb public peace,” Aruna stated..
