Five corps members reportedly drown on their way to their PPA in Calabar

Five yet-to-be-identified corps members have tragically lost their lives following an accident in Cross River State.

According to reports, the victims were on their way to their Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) on Monday, June 5 when their bus veered off a bridge and plunged into a river.

All occupants of the bus, including the corps members, drowned in the river.

The Cross River State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Andrew Zemoh, has confirmed the death of the five corps members.

Zemoh in a chat with newsmen expressed his sympathy to the bereaved families and noted that they would decide when the victims will be buried.

A Facebook user, Comr Salau George Alexander, who claimed to have camped with them in Cross River (Obubra camp) batch A stream 2, shared photos of the victims on the platform.

“RIP to these beautiful souls. We camped together in Cross River (Obubra camp) batch A stream 2. I remember how we (I and Giveth) met at Onitcha park en route to Cross River and became close. She became friends with Ada in camp, and they were inseparable. Everybody in our camp knows them as best friends.

When I heard the news today, I was terrified. I just couldn’t believe it. I made a few calls to confirm, and alas! It did happen. It was reported that they drowned after their vehicle fell into a river. How it happened is beyond my comprehension, but God knows best. RIP, you have paid the ultimate price. May God grant you paradise,” he wrote.

“My dad is richer than all your dads, don’t be too excited” – Naira Marley’s 8-year-old daughter brags (Video)

A trending video of popular Nigerian singer Naira Marley’s daughter bragging about his wealth has caused a massive stir online.

In the trending clip, the 8-year-old boasts about her father’s wealth, stating that he’s richer than the fathers of all her peers.

She advises others not to get too excited when their fathers make money because it cannot surpass her father’s wealth.

“My dad is richer than any of your dads. So watch out because my dad is richer than any of your dads. So don’t be too excited. I bet the first time your dad had 100 pounds, you were very excited. Don’t be too excited. My dad has more money,” she said.

The video was accompanied by the caption, “This is the truth.”

However, the video has elicited reactions from netizens who criticize the young girl’s choice of words.

“Train your children well, Naira Marley. This is bad for a kid to say such words. Smh, bully kids,” an Instagram user wrote.

“She speaks fluently, but why on earth would anyone allow his/her kid to be this mean at such a tender age? This is seriously not funny. We need to be mindful of the things we promote in front of kids,” wrote @Manarisa.

“Nne, there is a kid named Imade Adeleke, and there is a kid named Zion Ayo. Each of them can buy your dad’s record label, entire discography, awards, and unreleased songs and give it to charity (the kids, not their dad). So return the phone to whoever gave it to you and go watch Tom and Jerry. With love ni o,” another user added.

Husband fails to appear in court for divorce hearing due to lack of transport fare

A man identified as Ali Abubakar has revealed that he failed to show up before a Kaduna-based Shari’a court because of a lack of transportation costs.

His wife, Ajinomo Ohunenene-Ummi, went to the court to request that their marriage be dissolved, but her spouse wasn’t there.

Abubakar, who resides in Abuja, had communicated via Tajuddeen Saidu, the court messenger, that he would not be able to attend the hearing because he lacked the funds to get from Abuja to Kaduna.

Her husband requested that the petitioner’s wishes be granted and that the court move forward with the procedures.

The petitioner expressed her desire to leave the marriage and her willingness to repay the N50,500 dowry that her husband had paid through her attorney, Nafisa Ibrahim.

She also requested that the defendant pay a N20,000 monthly feeding allowance and be granted custody of their one-year-old kid by the court.

Malam Abdulrahman Isiyaku, the judge, however instructed the court messenger and the petitioner to call Abubakar on the phone so that he could address the allegations.

Abubakar had consented to the divorce and child custody but had stated he would pay N10,000 per month in child support for his daughter, according to the court messenger’s report to the judge.

He continued by saying that Abubakar had consented to the complainant’s use of the N50,500 dowry as a five-month child-feeding allowance.

The complainant agreed when the court asked if she approved of the sum.

Isiyaku ended the marriage through Khul’i (redemption) and mandated that the petitioner preserve the N50,500 intended for the dowry return in order to support her child for five months.

The judge also mandated that Abubakar continue to oversee the child’s upbringing, clothing, and education until she is old enough to attend school.

“If Fela was still alive Nigeria’s current problems would have caused his death” – Yeni Kuti

Nigerian media personality and daughter of Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Yeni Kuti, has said she is content that her late father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, passed away many years ago.

She claimed that most of the issues he opposed and spoke about in his songs began to manifest in the nation and grew worse.

The acclaimed Afrobeat icon died on August 2, 1997.

She claimed that if Fela had been living to see and experience it all, he would have perished as a result of the many issues afflicting Nigeria.

Speaking during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Yeni claimed Nigerians did not realize the importance of her father until he was no more.

When asked why she thinks change happened, she said; “I think ‘their eyes are now clear, suffer don hook us for Nigeria. We have seen that there was at least one person who was singing about the abuse and fighting it.

Fela used to take out an advert on Daily Times that later became Punch, every Saturday. He would tag it ‘Chief Priest says’, and he will write something about Nigeria. He had a printing press, where he would print and yab all of them. Of course, it took death for them to realize they had lost something important.”

On whether she believes her father died happily, Yeni said; “That’s a very tough question. I think it’s a tough question because he was quite ill before he died. So, I don’t think someone that was so ill could be happy.

You know, many things he actually stands against started happening. Sometimes I think it’s even better that he died then because if he didn’t die, he would have died now with the way Nigeria is now.”

“I met this girl on Facebook before we moved to WhatsApp. Her name is Maryam and she always wants to post about her boyfriend. She literally calls him “Nisful-Hayat” meaning “Half of My Life” in English and “Rabin Raina” in Hausa.

I requested for her love (in a jest) and she rejected it instantly because of him. I termed her reaction as “Unfair” because she didn’t even give a chance to other people except him, so I dared her to give me half the chance she gave him if she’s fair enough.

She asked me how? And there where I told her; “Since he’s Rabin Ranki (RR), allow me to become Rabin Rabin Ranki (RRR). And she jokingly agreed.😅

Man who spent $100k on a painful leg-lengthening surgery to add 7-inches to his height says he doesn’t regret it

Man who spent

A 33-year-old mortgage broker, who was dissatisfied with his height of 6 feet, has spent over $100,000 on a Turkish leg-lengthening surgery to increase his height by 7 inches.

Brian Sanchez, a married father of two, revealed in an interview with The Sun that he opted for surgery because he was unhappy with his physical appearance.

After sitting next to his much-taller brother-in-law, Brian realized that his legs were too short for his body.

“I’m broad, have long arms, and I’m wide, but my short legs make me look different. I almost look like a huge thumb, like those thumb men from ‘Spy Kids’,” he said.

Man who spent

After coming to this realization, Sanchez said he took to the internet to research leg-lengthening operations and found an hospital in Turkey.

Man who spent

His family initially found it hard to believe that he was considering such a procedure, but they also knew it was typical of him to make daring choices

“I know this is a very crazy thing, it’s extremely expensive, time-consuming, difficult, painful and even risky in some respects,” he said.

Sanchez spent roughly $37,000 on his first leg surgery in December 2022. “They broke my tibia and fibula and hollowed out the inside of the tibia, taking out the bone marrow,” he told The Sun.

“They then put a rod inside the bone and fastened it with screws and attached the bone segments via pins to external fixators so you have this piece of steel on the outside of your legs and have these constant open wounds that won’t close until you remove all the hardware.”

Man who spent

In March, he invested another $69,587 for the second surgery to lengthen his femurs, and he felt great afterwards.

“There was almost no pain throughout the entire process, only from lengthening from actually stretching my legs.”

Sanchez, who is currently in a wheelchair as he recovers, has successfully added a total of 7 inches to his height.

“From the few times that I’ve already stood up, it is bizarre to see people that used to be my height come up to under my nose — it’s really weird, and it’s a lot of fun just seeing the world in a slightly different perspective.”

Nigerian widow cries out for justice after loan app operators published fake obituary of her

A Nigerian widow, Modupe Elizabeth Oladipupo, is seeking justice after a loan company she previously contacted published a fake obituary of her in an attempt to extort money from her.

According to the 22-year-old woman, she contacted the loan company and requested a loan of N13,000 after being robbed by one-chance robbers who took away her savings of N400,000.

After completing the process, she received the N13,000 but was informed that she would need to pay back N20,000. Oladipupo immediately contacted an agent of the company and informed them that she was no longer interested due to the high interest rate.

Oladipupo, who shared her predicament in an exclusive chat with LIB, said she promptly returned the money to the provided account.

However, she was shocked to receive a call from a lady named Chioma Patience, claiming to be from the loan company, and stating that she owed them N10,000.

Despite explaining her situation to the lady, her pleas fell on deaf ears as the lady insisted on the debt and threatened to tarnish her reputation if she didn’t pay.

To her surprise, Oladipupo started receiving calls from family and friends inquiring about her well-being after the lady sent them a poster with her image and a write-up falsely claiming that she was ill and in need of money.

Oladipupo revealed that the female representative of the loan company went even further by creating her obituary and forwarding it to her phone contacts.

She has since reported the incident to the police, who have contacted the lady involved.

“Mercy Chinwo charges N10 million to perform in churches” – Rev. Fr. Oluoma reveals as he speaks about churches turning worship into entertainment (Video)

Nigerian clergyman, Rev. Fr. Oluoma, has asserted that churches have turned worship into entertainment.

The clergyman made this assertion during a recent sermon in his church.

During the sermon, Fr. Oluoma revealed that gospel singers charge millions just to lead a 10-minute worship service in churches.

Citing the example of renowned Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo, he disclosed that she charges up to N10M to perform in churches.

“We have made religious worship expensive. If I have to bring Mercy Chinwo here to sing, how much will I have to pay? How much do you think she will charge? 10 million naira. Then I will have to collect the money from church members to pay her.

These are the tragedies we have brought into the church. An artist will come to the church to minister for 10 million or 5 million, and that’s too much. I’m not against paying her; you must pay her because you invited her.” He said.

Am I in the wrong here. Small story.

This guy in Nigeria that knows my family asked if it would be okay for him to speak to my parents about marriage and I said no. I don’t have an interest in marrying him.

He asked why and I have my reasons. He focused on the financial reason.

I simply said we aren’t in the same financial place and I don’t think it’s fair on both of us.

One , I don’t want to limit my lifestyle and he shouldn’t have to be pressured to earn more. It’s just unfair for both of us imo

Nigerian lady asks

He asked if I would give up my work for love and I said absolutely not. I explained I love my job, it’s something that brings me happiness and makes me who I am. It’s also part of my personal brand so it simply cannot go.

He said my reasoning is not realistic 🙃

He gave me a range of his annual salary in naira which was around 100,000 – 200,000 which is fine and I said that isn’t bad. That’s what he earns and good on him.

I gave mine in naira which is 28 million – 34 million and he said I can’t earn more than my husband.

I called him insecure and he said a man is suppose to be the provider and there is nothing insecure about that. So I told him to go and provide for someone within his bracket.

He can’t provide for me so he said he will report me to my family.

Sorry am I in the wrong? Cause 🙁

I don’t care if he reports me cause my family would legit laugh. The mentality alone is even madness. Why can’t I earn more and why would I give up that salary and work?

He said women of now a days wants to be like men 🤣🤣🤣.

“I settled for acting after I failed in my first year of law” – Actress Genoveva Umeh

Nigerian-British actress, Genoveva Umeh, has disclosed that even though acting has always been her passion, she didn’t study it initially.

According to her, she studied law in university but realized that acting was truly her passion after failing in her first year of law.

The Far From Home star revealed this during the latest episode of the “Is This Seat Taken” podcast, hosted by Nollywood actress Chinasa Anukam.

She said, “Studying law was my decision. However, I also realized that as a first-generation immigrant, I knew how hard my parents worked to get me into the UK.

“So, I didn’t want to pursue a course that I just considered as a hobby. I thought acting was merely a hobby.

“I went from viewing acting as a hobby during my time in university, thinking that after graduation, I would come back and pursue it.

“But that didn’t happen until I failed my first year. Failing my first year of law was when I realized that I needed to start considering what I truly wanted to do, rather than what I felt I had to do.”

A while ago, Genoveva stated that she’s not interested in being anyone’s role model and simply wants to be herself.

The thespian stated this in a chat with Midweek Entertainment.

Genoveva reiterated that she doesn’t want to be a role model to anyone; rather, she wants to live her normal life and not be driven by the urge to make decisions based on public expectations.

“I think my only challenge is I still want to be myself, I still want to do great work and I don’t want to get caught up in the fame. Those are the things I want to focus on. Also, as much as people are really inspired by my work, I don’t think of myself as a role model. I’m not a role model, I’m just someone who cares about her work and if people are inspired by that, that’s great.

“But I don’t want people to attach themselves to everything I do or hold me accountable for certain decisions that I make. I want to live free, I want to be myself and I still want to do great work without the pressure of people’s expectations.” She said.

“Davido owes Sophia Momodu an apology for hum!l!ating her” – Actress Esther Nwachukwu blows hot (Video)

Popular Nollywood actress, Esther Nwachukwu, has weighed in on the ongoing drama between Nigerian superstar singer Davido and his baby mama, Sophia Momodu.

For a while now, Davido’s first baby mama Sophia has been dragging him on social media, seemingly accusing him of being a deadbeat father.

Most recently, she revealed her plan to change their daughter’s surname from Davido’s to her own because she claims to have been the only one playing the roles of both father and mother.

In a video shared on Instagram, actress Esther voiced her support for Sophia amid her social media rant. She lambasted Davido and stated that he should learn to treat his baby mamas with respect, despite being married.

Esther claimed that she is not like others who try to engage in superficial discussions when there is a serious matter to address, adding that she is never afraid to speak the truth.

According to Esther, Davido’s wealth has blinded many people to his excesses. She lamented that this blindness has led them to constantly criticize Sophia, while in reality, Sophia deserves an apology for all the alleged humiliation she has faced at the hands of the singer.

“Childbirth is a 50/50, life or death situation. So when a woman goes to the labor room to give birth to a child, whether you marry her or not, she deserves every respect,” she said in part.
