A Nigerian lady studying in Germany shares the kitchen mishap that left both her and the internet in stitches.

Her German roommate, unfamiliar with Nigerian food staples, mistook her stash of Ijebu garri (A sour-flavoured fermented cassava granule) for the regular bread crumbs.

She said;

“So we keep our food and ingredients, species in the same cupboard. She came back from school before me. So she looked for bread crumbs, she couldn’t find it. When she saw the garri she thought it was my own bread crumbs, so she used it.”

According to the lady, her German roommate returned from lectures before her on this faithful day, famished and ready to whip up a quick meal using the bread crumbs.

She reached for the garri container inside the cupboard in the kitchen where they usually store their food items and noticed something seemed off, like it had been tampered with.

Upon further inspection, she noticed the reduction of a good portion of the stash of Ijebu garri from the container.

Her well-meaning German roommate, apparently trying to prepare something for herself, assumed that the stash of garri was bread crumbs, without hesitation, mixed it up with eggs and seasonings in a bowl.

The short clip sparked laughter and conversation on the internet, especially among users who often label their food items to avoid this exact kind of mix-up.

A Nigerian man recently stirred up conversation online after he shared the unusual exchange with an Almajiri lady he encountered.

From their initial conversation, it appeared she had a poor educational background.

Despite their apparent mutual interest during their first meeting, neither of them reached out afterward, a silence she attributed to shared pride from both parties.

The twist started when the lady eventually messaged him, not to rekindle the initial spark but to complain that he never called her.

She went further, requesting that he buy her a data subscription. The young man, surprised and perhaps a little amused, shared her WhatsApp voice note on the internet, and it was full of grammatical errors.

Social media users debated on the dynamic, criticizing the lady for her presumptuous request. While others sarcastically questioned the young man’s expectation and how he chose to respond to her.
