Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Maria Chike Benjamin has reacted to her co-reality star, Pere Egbi’s comment about using mobile phones during a flight.
Pere had sparked a debate online after he warned Nigerians of the dangers of leaving their phones on during take-off and landing.
He had tweeted, “Dear Nigerians, when the flight crew says turn off all mobile devices especially during the critical phases of taking off and landing, TURN IT OFF! Those texts and calls can wait! Safety first! Happy Friday!”
However, controversial media personality, Daddy Freeze, disagreed with his statement, adding that nothing can happen to an aircraft even if someone is on a call during takeoff or landing.
BBN’s Maria has now weighed into the conversation and she concurred with Daddy Freeze’s stance. Citing her experience in the aviation sector, the former air hostess said a phone can’t affect an aircraft at any stage of the flight.
“As an ex flight attendant for 6 years and a trained basic pilot there’s absolutely nothing that can happen to the aircraft/flight all any stages of the flight, take off, cruise and landing stages. Thank you,” Maria wrote.
Veteran actress,Joke Silva has opened up for the first time about her husband, actor Olu Jacob’s health condition.
Speaking in a recent interview with Chude Jidonwo, the award-winning thespian disclosed that Olu Jacobs has dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB).
According to her, it’s been going on for a couple of years but this is the first time she’s speaking about it publicly.
Her words,
“He is dealing with issues and it is been going on for a couple of years. It is known as dementia with lewy body.
“It is a degenerative disease that affects the brain and it is almost like a Parkinson type of disease, it affects the brain and affects the person.
“First time i’m saying this publicly… that is what we have been dealing…but the thing is, it is hard on him because he doesn’t understand what is going on and it is hard on us family members as well.
“We have gone through it over the past couple of years but we thank God.”
She continued: “We have gone through some times and situations recently that I wish I had the old you here so I don’t battle these times on my own but we are grateful for the moment of clarity. I miss the times we work together.”
The 60-year-old actress also spoke about finding out at the age of 10 that she was adopted when she was 9 months. According to her, she stumbled on the information by accident while rummaging through her mother’s documents.
The actress, who celebrated 40 years in the entertainment industry recently, had previously spokenol about how she discovered she was adopted.
She said at the time,
“It’s something like where one is just getting to share it in the public. It is something that I found out when I was much younger. Mine was a secret adoption. It was not something that my parents discussed.
“My mum’s elder sister wanted me to travel with her to Kenya and my mother was not around. She asked if I knew where my passport was and I was like yes yes yes. I know where mum keeps all the important documents.
“Then I go to the important suitcase that has all the important documents, where I found my passport but also found my adoption certificate. It was like ‘I beg your pardon’. I was 10-11 at the time. It was a bit shattering.
“It was tough. You know how you’re very sensitive as a child. There was just something in it letting you know they would have discussed it with you if it was something they wanted to discuss.
“But I got to a point when I was able to discuss it, myself and my mum. What was interesting is that she found it easier to discuss it with my older son than she did with me. My mum wasn’t comfortable discussing it.”
Davido has said that the 200 million he raised from friends, colleagues, fans for his birthday will be donated to Charity.
The DMW boss in a statement via his social media account also noted that he’d be donating 50 million from his own personal money, making the total donation to the orphanage homes to N250 million.

The committee will also determine the portion of the money that will be donated to Paroche foundation. To maintain transparency, the committee will make public the names of the beneficiary orphanages and how much each will receive.
A list of all beneficiaries and their verified account details will be submitted to Wema Bank, who will then be instructed to credit each beneficiary’s account.
My goal is to do this fundraising every year to celebrate my birthday and give back to people in need. Media personality, Daddy Freeze has reacted to Big Brother Naija star, Pere, advising Nigerians to switch off their phones at certain times during their flight for safety’s sake.
Pere said passengers should postpone whatever they want to do with their phones and obey the flight crew when they ask them to switch off their phones.
Responding, Daddy Freeze said there is “absolutely nothing” a mobile phone can do to a modern aircraft during takeoff and before the plane lands.

The man who rescued fast-rising DJ Michelle, from drowning has finally narrated his side of the story.
Recall that it was reported by friends and family that Michelle went to the beach with her friends on Thursday, Nov. 18, and she was swept away by the water.
People began mourning her on Friday, Nov. 19, but, more than 24 hours after she reportedly ‘floated away’, it was revealed that she has been found alive.
The man credited with rescuing her from the water a day later was interviewed at the beach.
He said in Yoruba that he had passed where she was on the water but his mind told him to go back. He did and that’s when he found her and rescued her.

A Nigerian nurse has spoken against the video of a boy feeding his sister while his mum was away and berated those praising the act.
The little boy went viral days ago after he was filmed attending to his sister in the halls of a school environment while their mother sat for a quiz. In the video shared online, the boy is seen carrying and feeding his sister a bowl of pap.
However, in an apparent reaction to the video the nurse in a lengthy tweet stated that the video doesn’t sit well with her, as feeding his sister shouldn’t be his responsibility, regardless of the situation.
According to her, children need to be children, hence, the mother should have found an alternative rather than letting him take on such responsibility.
Tackling those celebrating the little boy’s actions, she asserted that it only proves that they support using children as domestic helps.

It was earlier reported the promising Nigerian DJ, Abesin Michelle, otherwise known as DJ Michell, has dr*wned at a beach in Lekki area of Lagos State, on Thursday, November 18th.
According to a source, Michelle, who was at the beach with her siblings and a friend, went into the water to make videos, when she was suddenly swept away by the ocean. Her corpse is yet to be retrieved.

A Twitter user who is in search for an apartment in Lagos state has taken to the platform to share photos of a house he was shown.
The house has a narrow hallway that can barely take a fat person and will be definitely be impossible for two people to pass at the same time.

Comedienne, Princess has named actress, Funke Akindele as one of those who stood by her when her marriage with Adeshola Jeremiah crashed in 2013.
Princess in a chat with media personality, Jude Jideonwo revealed that after she and her estranged husband parted ways

The Grammy award winner, in a video he posted on his Instagram story, stated that he is too hot because the fire alarm went off immediately he stepped into a bathroom.

A Twitter user has taken to the platform to lament bitterly after he sent a MacBook Pro from London to Nigeria, only for the receiver to find a doll in the package.
According to the man identified as Victor on the micro-blogging platform, he bought the laptop for over 700,000 Naira and paid an extra N55,000 to clear the package at Nigeria customs office.
However, when the package got to the receiver and opened, a doll was found in the box rather than a laptop.
Narrating the bizarre incident on Twitter, Victor wrote,
“I sent a MacBook Pro from London, UK to Nigeria and the receiver got a baby doll…. Nigeria custom billed me 55k for clearance. Whooping 55k to clear a doll? Nah! A laptop worth over 700k naira”.

The guy known as Folu Shaw, called out a popular fast food joint in the state over the bread, bens and plantain he was served.
