Popular television host, Bolanle Olukanni, has stated that when a minister of the church fails he should not only confess but step away from ministry.
Bolanle stated this while sharing a screenshot of gospel singer, Sammie Okposo’s public statement apologizing to his wife for cheating on her with another woman.
It can be recalled that on Tuesday, January 25, the music minister confessed to having had an extramarital affair with a US-based woman during his recent tour to the US.
He noted that he would be stepping down from his music ministry until he has gained full restoration.
Reacting to this, Bolanle commended Sammie for taking steps to restore and heal. According to her, the right thing to do in that situation, is to leave the ministry and find the foundation of his relationship with God.
“Yes he did a horrible thing and now he has made steps to restore and heal. You can’t be cheating and still ministering. Even if you have repented. Leave the ministry and go and ask youself why you were cheating. Find the foundation of your relationship with God before you lead others.
“When you cheat and you are in a moral position you must step away from Minstry! You have to. And also it’s soo important to hold yourself accountable and confess. When something is in the dark let it comes to the light so that there is healing!” She wrote.
