Oyindamola Martins, the younger brother of the late Bimbo Ogbonna, who was married to popular auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna aka IVD, has revealed details of how his sister set fire to their marital home, which ultimately resulted in her death.
In an interview with OAP, DaddyFreeze, Oyindamola stated that the late Bimbo had decided it was time for her to leave her marriage but she did not want to go away without anything. This decision came after many years of misery and physical and emotional torture. He claimed that Bimbo told him that she was unable to just abandon her husband IVD because she had “sacrificed” her life for him.
According to Oyindamola, Bimbo begged her husband to give her the paperwork for their Lagos home so she could take control of it, but he refused. Bimbo, according to him, then swore to set the house on fire in order to keep it away from both of them.
He claimed that Bimbo threatened to hurt herself by pouring kerosene on herself and that IVD, who was at home, was unable to stop her. He claimed that Bimbo then set fire to their curtain while still holding onto IVD, but he shoved her into the blazing curtain burning, where she sustained 100-degree burns.
“She said since this is the only house we have, let us burn it so the two of us would leave with nothing.
As she was lighting up the whole house, she poured kerosene on her body and was like let everything just end. When she did it, she stopped for a while and went round the house. He was not saying anything. He was like ‘if you want to die, die.
As the curtain was burning, she now jacked him and was like you will give me these papers today. He pushed her off his body and this got her into the curtain.
She suffered from hundred-degree burns. That takes like about of a couple of minutes to get 100-degree burns. When she was on fire, her husband was right in front of her doing nothing.”
He claimed that Bimbo was the one who fled on her own and requested assistance so she could be transferred to any hospital. Before they eventually found a hospital where she was admitted, he claimed she was turned down by ten different medical facilities.
Regarding claims that Bimbo assisted IVD in doing some sort of ritual activity, Oyindamola stated he could not corroborate them but that it is something Bimbo might have done out of love for him.
He also stated that he knew nothing about IVD’s HIV status either.
