In a bizarre turn of events, a master’s student from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has sued a woman for ₦2.5 million in emotional damages after she refused to date him.
The woman shared her ordeal on X (formerly Twitter), detailing how their interactions escalated into a legal battle.
According to her account, she met the man while studying at Kwara State University.
He expressed romantic interest, but she made it clear she was not interested.
Despite her rejection, he continued to send her money and gifts, which she repeatedly declined.
When she firmly stated she had no feelings for him, the man filed a lawsuit, accusing her of fraud.
She received alarming calls from both his lawyer and the police, demanding her presence at the station and threatening to involve her school.
Fortunately, the woman was able to clear her name, as evidence from their chat history showed she had consistently rejected his offers.
She recounted, “The only thing that saved me was that our chats showed I had always rejected his money.”
The case eventually went to mediation, where the man insisted she either marry him or meet him in court.
