A woman has sparked controversy after declaring that she would terminate her pregnancy if she discovered she was carrying a male child.
Explaining her stance, she argued that the people who have caused the greatest harm throughout her life have all been men, therefore raising a boy means bringing into the world someone who will eventually have the autonomy to make his own choices as a human.
She further argued that every rapist, abuser, and pedophile was once an innocent little boy whose parents believed they would grow up to be good people and since there is no guarantee of the kind of man a male child will become, she believes there is no reason to take that chance. According to her, she wouldn’t like to bring any child into this world but if she ever became pregnant with a boy, she would rather end the pregnancy than risk raising someone who could one day become another oppressor.
