A Nigerian bride raises eyebrows as she refused to conform to a popular norm at her traditional wedding ceremony after she picked a bottle of honey instead of a Bible.

During the ceremony, the master of ceremonies, locally known as the Alaga Iduro for the Yoruba traditional wedding ceremony, asked the bride to pick an item from the gifts her groom had brought for her.

Excited, the bride danced toward the gift stand and picked up a bottle of honey, which instantly caused a loud noise among the guests. The Alaga Iduro suggested the bride pick a Bible, which is considered the right choice according to popular standards.

However, the bride stood her ground and questioned the Alaga’s opinion. She said the bottle of honey is what she insists on taking, and she can’t be instructed on what to pick at her wedding.

Even though she was asked to drop the honey, she held it alongside the Bible and danced joyfully as she showed them to the wedding guests.

Speaking in the background, one of her bridesmaids supported her stance, emphasizing that the honey was the bride’s choice, which means nobody can decide for her on her special day.
