A female undergraduate sparked an online conversation after sharing professional photos to celebrate entering the 300 level at the University of Ilorin.

The student, identified as Hikmah, took to X to announce the academic milestone and express excitement about officially becoming a 300-level student.
To mark the achievement, she shared professionally taken photos of herself dressed in a stylish green suit and a white headscarf.
However, her celebratory post caught the attention of another X user, who jokingly described the current generation as unserious for announcing personal milestones online.
Reacting to her photos, the user wrote, “Most unserious generation, una dey announce everything for the internet. Next na photoshoot for entering the exam hall.”

The comment appeared to poke fun at the growing trend of young people documenting and celebrating different stages of their academic journeys on social media.
Hikmah’s post has since drawn attention to the different ways students celebrate their achievements, with some congratulating her. A photoshoot for a new academic session amazed many, who found it unnecessary.
While some consider such celebrations excessive, others see them as a way to document personal growth and create lasting memories of their university experience.
