An Owerri-based lady has taken to social media to lament after NYSC posted her to Kano State amid the country’s security situation.

In the video which she captioned “NYSC just broke my heart”, the lady began with the fact that the National Youth Service Corp had called her to serve her father land but she will not be answering such the call. Her reason was that when she opened her call up letter she discovered that out of all the 36 states in Nigeria, they decided to post her to Kano state – while she’s in Owerri.

According to her, she expected that graduates will be posted to states close to their place of residence due to the current state of insecurity. “I will not answer, I cannot answer such call”, she added. She said her father is not rich enough to pay for a ransom if she eventually gets kidnapp3d, and neither would the country that she risked her well being to go and serve do anything to bring her to safety. She added that she will even be blamed for making such a journey at this time.

“So dear NYSC, please, please, help me to change it. I use God beg you. Na only me my mama born”, she concluded.

Her video has stirred some reactions on X. Some are saying she shouldn’t pay attention to the media as Kano is one of the welcoming states in Nigeria.

@EnwesiPros007 All of you saying Kano is safe and good are MAD na leg she go use trek go there Abi She no go follow road Abi to travel.

@skood009 We have one of the most useless and insensitive sets of people in power. Nigeria is not safe, especially the roads, so why make people go through this stress? NYSC can either be done in people’s home states or suspended until the country is safer. Must people get kidnapped again before we start shouting? Why can’t they be proactive for once during their tenure?
