An internet user who identifies as @Funabynature has shared via X (Twitter) that it’s embarrassing when Nigerians are applying for visas to relocate to foreign countries.

While trying to support her point, the lady listed multiple reasons why she finds the act humiliating.

In her tweet, she noted that applying for a visa to a foreign country seems like begging for acceptance into the country and agreeing to do whatever they ask as long as one is granted access.

Her tweet read;

“Applying for visas is so humiliating mahn. It’s giving ‘white man please let me into your country. I promise to be of good behavior and I’ll leave when I said I’ll leave. Here’s all my life’s worth and evidence that I have something doing. Plis just let me in’. So embarrassing”

While the majority appear to agree with the young ladies’ opinion, others shared the experiences they’ve had while applying for a visa.

Below are some of the comments,

@Myrmotana:  What my eyes saw last November. I don’t want to do that thing again. Very dehumanizing.

@Iamharpzy:  You’re absolutely spot on very humiliating process and one of the reasons I hate applying for visas. It’s a quest of trying to convince some ppl that your life may even be better than theirs for pass

@vonwunaaduegbo:  And then you get here and it becomes, “please don’t deport me abeg, I’m a humble hardworking migrant; see the six jobs I’m working + my three PhDs”.
