An ex-corp member and beauty queen, Courage Ugboaja Ifeoma, is living up to John Wesley’s quote as she continues to bring joy and acts of kindness at every given chance she’s got.
Some months back, she was lauded for her pet project: KICK AGAINST OVARIAN AND CERVICAL CANCER which created Cancer Awareness lecture at the University of Uyo Mini Stadium with lots of Female Doctors.
Courage, during her service year, put smiles on the face of many as before she was redeployed from Sokoto to Rivers on February 14th, she took it upon herself to lend a helping hand to the less privileged in the Northern part of the state by giving them handouts and all.
After she was redeployed to Rivers, at her place of Primary Assignment, Courage was moved after she discovered that some students of the school she taught couldn’t afford their WASSCE fees and according to her, with the little allowance she got from her NYSC, was able to sponsor their fees.
Her good works has been giving her recognition from different organizations as they laud her philanthropy – Courage believes Nigeria will be a better place if we could all give a little thought to the less privileged in the society.
Courage said:
Thanking God for a successful service year, and my own little way of giving back to the society during my service year ,at my PPA which is a Secondary school in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. I got to find out from the principal that some SS3 students that are due to write their WAEC could not register because of funds. And also, I noticed that some of my students that I taught in JSS 3 didn’t return to school at the beginning of the new session. On enquiry I got to find out that it was due to the inability of their parents to pay their JSS3 exam fees, thus their results were withheld by WAEC. And these were amongst the brilliant kids in the school. Moved with compassion, I decided to pay the fees of the SS3 and the JS3 student. The ones that my little NYSC alawee savings could carry. And thanks be to God the kids are back in school. I also did something similar during my camping experience in Sokoto State. On the 14th of Feb which was Valentine’s day, I cooked and took food to a destitute camp close by and spent some quality time with them just show them love and to give them that sense of belonging and hope for the future. If we could all give a little more thought to the less privileged in our society. I believe Nigeria will be a better place
to live in.
