Cameroonian singer, Libianca stole the show at the BET Awards after she beat Nigerian singer, Asake, to claim the title of Best New International Act.

While Burna Boy made history by winning Best International Act for the fourth time in a row, no other Nigerian musician could join him on the winning team.

Meanwhile, Libianca’s victory has sparked a huge controversy on social media, with many voicing their displeasure and labeling it “daylight robbery.”

Some claimed that Asake deserved the award more than Libianca, while others asserted that Asake lost to Libianca because he predominantly sings in Yoruba.

@sir_eltee wrote, “Congratulations to her. While language music holds cultural significance, singing in English allows artists to connect with a global audience, expanding their reach and impact.”

And please note that they listen to her song everywhere in the world and they can easily relate to itπŸ‘ŒπŸ½”
