Prolific Nigerian writer, Chimamada Ngozi Adichie, has revealed how having her daughter prevented her from writing for a period.
In an interview with the BBC, the well-known novelist disclosed this, saying that while motherhood is a gift, it has a price.
She clarified that while giving birth to her daughter could have prevented her from writing two novels, the experience did introduce her to a new level of awareness that she can now include in her writing.
Chimamanda discussed how being pregnant made her feel dizzy and how, up until recently, she was unable to enter her writing period.
According to the famous writer, she was unaware of the experience of pregnancy and had to cope with various discomforts, including achy joints and constipation.
Despite her belief that pregnancy is lovely, she wishes that other women have sufficient knowledge about pregnancy and the intense emotions that go along with it.

A while back, Chimamanda Adichie made history as the first woman to be made a Chief in her hometown, Abba, Anambra State.
The ‘Purple Hibiscus’ writer was conferred with the chieftaincy title of “Odeluwa” which means ‘the one who writes for the world’.
Taking to her Instagram page, she posted a video from the conferment ceremony and expressed gratitude to the King for the rare honor.
She further advocated for a culture that celebrates the achievements of men and women alike.
