Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late gospel singer, Osinachi, has claimed that his wife died from lung cancer and not physical abuse from him as her family and friends have claimed.

Nwachukwu, who was arraigned at an Abuja high court on Friday, June 3, stated this while being escorted to the courtroom.

The late gospel singer, popular for her “Ekweme” hit track, died on Friday, April 8th after she was allegedly in a coma for five days prior to her death. Close relatives, friends, and children of the deceased all alleged that her husband, Peter, subjected her to domestic violence.

However, in a video serving the rounds online Peter noted that he’s being wrongfully accused.

“Let me tell the whole world, I have suffered a lot. I have been abandoned. What killed my wife was cancer of the lungs; I didn’t hit my wife. Cancer of the lungs killed my wife, Osinachi Nwachukwu, so I’m suffering for what I do not know”. The-father-of-four said.

Nwachukwu was arraigned before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on a 23-count charge that bordered on culpable homicide Friday, June 3, although he pleaded not guilty to the charge against him, Justice Njideka Nwosu-Iheme, in a short ruling, ordered his remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre, while his trial was adjourned to June 16 at 12 pm and June 17 at 9 am.
