Convener of the Halleluyah Challenge and Olowogogboro crooner, Nathaniel Bassey has shared on Twitter some marital advise for women.

The Gospel singer advised that no woman should allow any man make her feel like he is doing her a favour by marrying her. According to him, women are the ones who do men a favour by marrying them.

Read his tweets below;

“My dear sisters, No man should make you feel they are doing you a Favour marrying you. Actually it is the other way round, as the bible says a Man finds FAVOUR when He finds a wife. However, this shouldn’t make you arrogant. But rather carry yourself with grace and humility.”

“The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord.” Proverbs 18:22 NLT http://bible.com. Hence, you don’t make the treasure feel you are doing her a Favour. You are actually the one who should feel a deeper sense of gratitude to God..”

“Men who have found a wife that brings Favour would understand this. And I can attest to this. I’m not just speaking theory. Hence you won’t Acts like you are doing her a Favour marrying her. This understand makes you treasure her more.”

A follower on Twitter, however, disagreed with him tweeting;

The scripture is “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor FROM THE LORD”. Dear sir, respectfully I think this is wrongful interpretation of Scripture. The man finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord! The scripture is Proverbs 18:22.

Nathaniel Bassey however stood by his tweet saying;

“Thanks Prof. I still stand by what I shared.”

  1. Ka! Some people are born chritics! If the Bible says “he who finds a wife has found a good thing and obtains favor from God” the logic is simple! That kind of favor can only be obtained when you find a wife, therefore, your favor is tied to that wife. She is that favor you have obtained from God. Your wife is a good thing and a favor to you. Must we always argue? God please help your children.

  2. For indeed this is a confirmation of what we know in our hearts. If only all husbands would understand this and love their wives as themselves, be patient with women knowing that they carry so much responsibilities to run a home. A wife or wife to be will give her best where she is loved and appreciated even Broken marriages will be much lesser.

  3. You’re talking sense sir, but that very verse is more than that sir, because it’s not every married man that really find a wife, some are living with thorns, but! The few that really find a wife are those that are enjoying there marriage till date like what written in that verse you quoted,that who will find a wife out of billions of thorns in the world today find a good thing. my prayers to all men reading this messages of yours is that God should help them in his infinite mercy to find a wife like the Bible has said but not to come across a deadly bone as wife. Thanks sir

  4. That’s a perfect observation except where the woman makes “staying under the roof of a man” her ultimate aim in her life.

  5. Ladies and Gentlemen lets go back to the basics( Scriptures ) to understand God’s original plan He had for man and woman. Instead of beating about the bush just to please humanity.

  6. Dear Pastor,while I agree with you on this post,I feel very strongly that it would have been more balanced to let women know that they are not also doing men any favour by marrying.It is not enough to just,in passing,say they should not be arrogant. In truth, they are not favour on their own accord.They are favour of the Lord.So,they cannot arrogate the glory of being embodiment of favour to themselves,but to God.Equally,any woman who finds a man finds a good thing & has God’s favour.No man embodies favour to his wife on his own accord.This is true in the context of contemporary global reality.It is also known that not all women (as well as men) are good.The whole thing is about the foundation of relationship/marriage.The devil is attacking families in the end time through the instrument of feminism,among others.Wise women who cherish their home & marriage run away from every tendency of needless feminist activism. God-fearing couples don’t know inequality in their marriage. They effortlessly take each as equal part of a whole, without which the ‘whole’ is not complete. This thing is ultimately of the Lord. Good morning, Pastor.

  7. I agreed with this articles n I support it one million times.
    If a man is not in the Lord present,how would he understand the word of God n apply it? For example the man I got married to.

  8. Proverbs 18:22 (WYC) He that findeth a good woman, findeth a good thing; and of the Lord he shall draw up mirth (and he receiveth favour from the Lord). He that putteth away a good woman, putteth away a good thing; but he that holdeth (onto an) adulteress, is a fool and unwise.

    God’s word must be read as a whole. You don’t quote one verse of scripture and leave a whole lot. Scriptures explains SCRIPTURES. God is so wise than the He can’t leave the favour of a man in a woman’s hand. Bible is clear when it says.. we are complete in Christ.(Colossians 2:10)..

    Many Bible translations left out the word “GOOD” which is supposed to come before the wife to read “GOOD WIFE” A look at Proverbs19:14 and Proverbs 31:10- End would no doubt let you see what kind of wife is in deed a favour to the Man. Many had married wives that have led to early grave, led to fighting and querelling in families that once experienced Peace. Collapse of business, one misfortune or the other, such Women cannot be a favour to the man.
    So as a woman, if you want to be that favour, emulate the Woman in Proverbs 31, then we know for sure a man finds a good thing. That Woman in Proverbs 31 adds value to the man.. she is the help meet God designed a woman to be, not some lazy, selfish and greedy ladies hovering around the environment looking for a man to kill with responsibilities.

  10. That’s true what God has given it is good, the giftbis a favour from the Lord. One doesn’t favour the gift, but the gift comes as the favour instead. And the favour one obtains is from the Lord.

  11. Like Seriously, there is need for men to love their wives the same way they love themselves even show more love, it will really help in keeping the home and putting the family together. Over look certain things the woman is doing that may cause issues but let advice and corrections follow instead.

  12. Why are most men here killing themselves over a post. The pst made his clear. It is left for you to understand and balance it yourself.. leave him alone jaré!!!

  13. Thanks sir though not married or in a relationship your word has awaken me on how I.should carry myself as someon’s future wife or partner. God bless you.

  14. @evangelist Nathaniel Basdey please don’t be too sentimental because getting the Audience of women, it should be don’t let any man or woman think he or she is doing you favor for married you not just a man alone, the same to woman too
