A man took to social media to share the moment his African parents expressed their disapproval after he braided his hair for the first time.
In the video, the man approached his parents, who were seated in the living room, and proudly unveiled his new stitch braids. While his mother reacted immediately, his father remained silent until his son asked whether they liked the hairstyle.
His father then began reminding him of a sermon they had listened to in church, saying it highlighted the characteristics of a wayward child. He expressed disappointment with the hairstyle and stated that the only way he could regain his peace of mind was for his son to loosen the braids.
The man attempted to reassure his parents, insisting that it was “just hair,” but his explanation did little to change their stance.
When he asked his father whether the hairstyle looked good, his mother firmly questioned how braids could ever look good on a man. Unable to hide his displeasure, the father got up and walked out of the sitting room, saying he could no longer continue looking at the hairstyle.
His mother also urged him to remove the braids, insisting they were inappropriate. When the man tried to lighten the mood by approaching her affectionately, she stood her ground, telling him that if he truly loved his parents, he would do what made them happy by taking the braids out.
