A new wife’s marriage came to an end after she told her husband to lose his old contacts as well if he wants her to do the same.

One month after the wedding, the husband approached her and told her that she had to break her sim card and get a new one. His reason was that he wanted her to cut off from her old friends and acquaintances. She told him that she couldn’t do it, as those people have been part and parcel of her life. He said she would have to choose between him and her contacts. She chose him and insisted that cutting off her friends didn’t cut it.

Following his incessant persistence on the matter, she then agreed to his proposal on the condition that he cuts off people from his life as well. He refused, saying he was the head of the house and she must do his bidding. Because both parties wouldn’t agree, their month-old-marriage ended.

The story has stirred reactions from X-users:

@BeniwinnA spouse asking you to delete a few toxic contacts is one thing, but demanding you break your SIM and cut off your entire life is a whole different conversation. If the marriage ended in one month, I doubt the SIM card was the only problem here what do you think?
@degogetteer Ie real problem wasn’t the SIM card but the way the husband was thinking. A marriage ending after just one month over this kind of issue shows there were probably deeper problems with trust, communication, etc. A spouse should become an important part of your life, not the only part of your life.
