It can be recalled that in October 2020, Nigerian Youths joined forces to protest against police brutality and demand that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) be disbanded. The protest rocked major cities in the Nation including Lagos and Abuja.

On October 20th, the Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwaolu issued a statewide curfew and stated that no one should be on the streets by 4PM.

However, some protesters remained at the Lekki Toll Gate and it was reported that officials of the Nigerian Army stormed the location and shot at the peaceful protesters. Till date, there is still an ongoing debate about those killed at the Toll gate.

To mark the first anniversary, Falz has put out a post to remember those who reportedly lost their lives.

He wrote,

“365 days ago, Nigerian citizens were shot and killed at the toll gate by our own military men.

Today we honour them because they have sacrificed their very existence for a cause bigger than all of us.

They live forever in our hearts πŸ•Š

We will never ever forget ❀️✊🏾”
