Nigerian students have bemoaned the ASUU Chairman’s request for their understanding and cooperation, after the union revealed its intention to continue its ongoing strike action.

nigerian student bemoan

The union, tweeted via its official twitter account, that the ongoing strike will continue until the Federal Government meet all its demands.

They asked for the support and understanding of the Nigerian students, as according to them, what they are fighting for is in their best interest.

The tweet reads,

“ASUU Chairman Asks Nigerian Students For Their Corporation.

“Students who are our children and partners in progress should show understanding, what we are asking from the government are in their interest and the interest of the nation.

“Good hostel accommodation, good classroom blocks that can engender effective learning, laboratories where cutting edge research can be carried out and offices that can drive the process of quality university education.

“So what we are asking of the government are not baseless things, but those things that in 2012, the government conducted during a needs assessment survey and found out that there is widespread rot and decay in the university system.”

However, Nigerian students are not buying into the idea, as they’ve taken to their twitter account to express their grievance and bemoan the request.

See some of the reactions below;

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has formally written to the Federal Government requesting for negotiations which were abandoned in February to be reopened.

The two bodies stopped negotiating after the disagreement over the implementation of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

The union also appealed to the Government to commence a process that would lead to the validation of its alternative salary payment platform, the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS).

It demanded that the FG should remove all academic staff already captured on IPPIS and enrol them on UTAS.

#BBNaija: He should get out, i’m done with Laycon – Erica

Big Brother Naija Lockdown housemate, Erica, has blasted her mental attraction, Laycon, for gossiping about her with the others.

Laycon, who undeniably has a very strong feeling for Erica, seems to have been affected by the outcome of rejection after she opted to be with Kiddwaya and Laycon has been seen at different times and locations discussing Erica and telling fellow housemates how he feels being rejected.

Recall show host, Ebuka, while addressing the housemates during Sunday’s live eviction, had drawn the attention of Erica to things going on around her, one of which was Vee advising Laycon on how to handle his feelings for Erica.

After the live eviction, Erica said that by now Laycon should move on and stop going around telling the whole world about her.

In he words ;

“I’ve never seen a guy that will make a girl continue to feel like this over and over…[he’s] going about complaining to the whole about me.

“Now what have I really done? He should get out! I’m so done with Laycon! That’s his business.”

#BBNaija: How HOH, Kiddwaya used his ‘veto power’ to save Wathoni and Evict praise (Video)

Last night, Praise became the sixth Housemate to be Evicted from the Big Brother Naija Lockdown House.

The Bottom Four Housemates in no particular order were, Praise, TrikkyTee, Wathoni and Vee.

The Housemates were instructed to individually come into the Diary room to nominate two housemates for an immediate eviction.

There was a tie between Wathoni and Praise, and the Head of House, Kiddwaya had the power to immediately evict one of housemate in the tie, and he chose, ‘Praise’.

Watch the video below;

Ebuka checks in with the Housemates

As is custom, Ebuka checked in with the Housemates letting them know that even he, like Biggie, had his eye on the Housemates while they were in the House. Kiddwaya told Ebuka that he could not speak to his reign, saying only the Housemates could do so and speak for themselves. When Ebuka asked Tolanibaj why she did not want to be in a group with Lucy, Tolanibaj fumbled for a while before Ebuka finally pulled the reason out of her. She told him that in fact, it is Lucy’s attitude that made her not want to be in the same group. Meanwhile our resident little finger, Brighto told Ebuka with a straight face that he never told Kiddwaya that Neo came into the House with a script. Lucy told Ebuka that for the moment, she likes Praise.

Praise leaves the House

Praise became the sixth Housemate to leave the House today. Though it was an emotional goodbye form the House, it was not as emotional as it has been in the past for everyone. The most notable reaction, however, was from Neo who screamed as Praise’s name was announced- just as he had screamed when he thought Vee was going home. The Housemates all said their customary goodbyes and a calm and collected Praise left the House.

Praise chats with Ebuka

As Praise graced the stage with Ebuka he explained that today was his late brother’s birthday and so was a very sad day for him. Despite this, however, he remained hopeful for the future. When asked by Ebuka what was up with him and fellow former Housemate Ka3na, he explained that she had her thing outside the House, while he had his commitment outside the house. In other words, the two had an arrangement. He also told Ebuka that he has big plans to start up a support initiative to empower dancers as he is a passionate dancer himself. For a quick glimpse at Praise’s journey in the House,

Parting shots

What’s an Eviction Show without some parting shots? Ebuka asked Vee why she told Laycon to stay away from Erica. A confident Vee told Ebuka that she would always take time to advise her friend and what she sees ahead is tears for her friend Laycon. When Ebuka asked Prince about Tolanibaj being his second choice, Prince tried to dance around the issue. Eventually, however, Prince announced that he and Tolanibaj are an item and that is the way he intended for it to stay.

Erica received two strikes for whispering and staying at the Head Of House room (HOH) room till 3am which is technically “sleeping over”, while Kiddwaya received a strike for not carrying out some assignments give to him by Biggie.

Erica was evidently infuriated that Laycon didn’t sympathize with her after receiving the strikes. She was apparently disappointed that He didn’t commensurate with her in her ‘trying time’.

Erica received double strike for whispering and sleeping in the house of house room, while Kiddwaya received strike for failing to carry out some assignments given to him by Biggie.

If you recall, Laycon and Erica were very close at the beginning of the show, however when she and Kiddwaya became an item, they both decided to give each other space and refrain from constant communication.

Erica, while conversing with Neo in a video said she doesn’t even intend to talk to Laycon after today, then asked “who the fvck is Laycon? Look at him?”, indirectly referring to his physical stature.

Later in the conversation, her love interest Kiddwaya joined in the conversation and said “I can’t go and beat someone that is half my size”.

According to him, there were technical issues and the organizers didn’t have back-up sound equipment, so he had to play from a single monitor.

He tweeted,

“Shout out to the housemates for sticking it thru last night. Such technical issues shouldn’t be happening with such a big budget show. BUT! Let’s use this opportunity to address how we also manage rubbish in this country…….

“How will a big budget show not have back up sound equipment????!!! Oh snap! I forgot, speakers are expensive……but the extension cord that burnt out, i swear is like 12k in the supermarket….Oh shit! 12k is a lot of money, my bad.

“The djing you witnessed last night is called Experience!…….The entire house partied with 1 monitor, not speaker…..Monitor. Could’ve walked away, but DJ OBI don’t crack under pressue

“Last night is the LAST TIME i’ll dj without a technical rider in this country. For the djs starting out, learn this now. If the client does not provide you with the right equipment, proper working equipment to do your job. DO. NOT. PRESS. PLAY.
“Use this to create structure to use the right tools for events and bookings. Contracts and riders, both hospitality and technical riders.
