An A-Level Student identified as Najma Abdilahi with the Twitter handle, @5tellaa has raised more £25,000 (Over 12 million Naira) for a ‘homeless’ Stormzy lookalike.
This is coming after she shared a video of the man’s reaction to being taunted on the street.
The man who looks like UK rapper, Stormzy is 29-year-old, Akwasi. He was filmed reacting calmly to a passer-by who tried to make fun of him for ‘looking like stormzy’.
In the viral video, a man who was behind the camera tells Akwasi: ‘Brother, I listen to all your songs’.
Akwasi quickly clarifies he’s not Stormzy, ‘I just look like him, I’m from the same country, everyone calls me Stromzy, but I’m not, I swear on my mum’s life. I’m out here begging.’ The man filming then gives Akwasi 5p.

The touching video was shared on social media by London-based student Najma Abdilahi, who said she was impressed by how he had remained ‘very calm’ and ‘very polite’ in the face of ‘disrespect’.
After the video went viral, a GoFundMe campaign was lauched by the student for Akwasi, and in just 24 hours, over £25,000 has been raised.
Writing on her GoFundMe, Najma wrote;
‘As some you may have seen the video of “Stormzy lookalike” as it has sparked some outrage.
‘I will be raising money to go and donate to him. This money will go towards finding him a stable place and will help him with any financial problems he may have. The man very humble and very polite to the disrespect that was shown to him.
‘May he be blessed with the money that he receives. He’s homeless so this money is going towards helping him get back on his feet and hopefully be the kickstart he needs for the future. He’s located at Liverpool Street Station. If you see him please be kind and generous.’

The quite tragic incident happened on Wednesday, moments after posting several pictures on her Facebook wall.

After being outed on social media, Nigerian rapper Ikechukwu Onunaku, known better as just “Ikechukwu” or “Killz”, has apologized for calling BBNaija housemate, Erica a gold digger.
The rapper’s comments which have been dubbed as sexist and insensitive by Nigerian netizens, was made when he took to Twitter to comment on the ongoing reality TV show.

The father of epileptic boy, Jibril Aliyu, who was chained with animals by his family for two years because of his health condition has been charged to court.
Jibril was rescued by police detectives after getting information about his predicament. As earlier reported, his father and stepmothers have already been taken into police custody because of their barbaric act.
In a statement by DSP Nafiu Abubakar, the spokesperson of the Kebbi state police command has revealed that Jibril has Down Syndrome and his father, Aliyu Umar, decided to tie him with a rope because he had taken him to several native doctors but all to no avail.
Abubakar also stated that Jibril’s father, Aliyu Umar, was found culpable of cruelty to his son and has been duly charged to court.
His statement reads;
”The Kebbi State Police Command wishes to inform members of the general public that on the 09/08/2020 at about 1440hrs, information revealed that, one Jibrin Aliyu, male, aged,12 years of Badariya area, Birnin Kebbi was tied with a rope alongside with animals and chickens for a period of two years after demise of his biological mother without treatment and feeding in their residence.
On the receipt of the report, detectives attached to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Birnin Kebbi, swiftly rushed to the scene, rescued the victim and took him to Sir Yahyah Memorial Hospital, Birnin Kebbi for medical attention.
In the course of investigation, it was discovered that the victim, Jibrin Aliyu is a patient of Down Syndrome and his father, Aliyu Umaru has admitted to have tied him with a rope because he had taken him to various native doctors for medication up to the extent of selling some of his properties but all in vein.
Instead of his father to continue with his medication, he decided to subject him to such inhumane and degrading treatment in order to prevent him from roaming about in the town, stoning peoples’ vehicles as well as injuring himself which could lead to his death.
In the light of the above Aliyu Umaru was found culpable of being cruel to his son and has been charged to court accordingly.”
Nigerian ballet dancer Anthony Madu, 11, who took to the world by surprise after a video of him dancing in the rain went viral, has been offered a scholarship by the American Ballet Theater in New York City.
The video of Anthony Mmesoma Madu dancing in the rain in Lagos, Nigeria, served major rounds across the internet as social media users praised the 11-year-old for breaking negative stereotypes around male ballet dancers.
The video was seen by the American Ballet Theatre in New York and the theatre has offered Anthony a scholarship from Ballet Beyond Borders and arranged internet access for the 11-year-old to experience virtual training sessions this summer.
Anthony spoke with the Washington Post to share his excitement at the news he would be soon training in the US.
“When my friends see me dancing, they feel like, ‘what is this boy doing, is he doing a foreign dance?’?” he said.
“Now I have won a grand prize to go to the US… I will be in the plane and this is what I am waiting for, and ballet has done it for me.”
Anthony’s video has also led to a flood of donations to the Leap of Dance Academy in Nigeria where Anthony currently trains. Anthony and his mum, Ifeoma Madu, had a video chat with CBS where they expressed their excitement.

There was a fire outbreak at a warehouse on Wempco road, Ogba, Lagos state reportedly belonging to Guinness Nigeria Ltd at the early hours of today.
The fire engulfed the plastic crates warehouse and destroyed property worth millions of Naira. According to a source, the fire started around 2.30am.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, however fire fighters and other relevant agencies were on ground to extinguish the fire and perform rescue operations.

Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe in reacting to the news of his removal from office as The Vice chancellor of University of Lagos has considered the news as illegal and cannot stand.
Recall that, The Vc was dismissed in a meeting that was chaired by the UNILAG Pro-Chancellor and chairman of the governing council, Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN).
According to Ogundipe, his supposed removal from office is illegal and a clear violation of the University of Lagos Act.

”The attention of the University of Lagos (Unilag) Management has been drawn to a notice to the general public on the removal of the Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos, dated Aug. 12 and signed by Oladejo Azeez, Esq, Registrar and Secretary to council.
”It states that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, has been removed from office with immediate effect.
”The purported removal is an illegality and cannot stand as it is in clear violation of the University of Lagos Act as amended by the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act, 2003.
”Therefore, members of the University of Lagos community and the general public are advised to disregard the information as contained in the notice.
”Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe remains the Vice-Chancellor of University of Lagos,” he added.

A day-old-baby has been rescued by men of the Anambra state police command today, August 13.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Haruna Mohammed, who disclosed this to newsmen, said in the early hours of today, one Ginika Okoromike of Ozalla village Isuofia visited the Aguata police station in the company of a staff attached to Ozalla-Isuofia community health center, to lay a complaint that a day old baby girl was wrapped up in a cloth and abandoned at the corridor of her house by an unknown person.
Haruna said the police immediately visited the scene and rescued the baby. He said all efforts made to trace the mother of the baby has proved abortive.
The police spokesperson added that the baby is in good health condition and will be handed over to the Social Welfare for proper care while effort is ongoing to trace the parents in order to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
An Upper Sharia court in Kofar Kudu, Kano state sentenced a 70 year old man to death by stoning after he pleaded guilty to defiling a 12 year old girl on Wednesday, August 12.
Audu admitted during his trial that he defiled the young girl and was willing to accept the punishment of death by stoning.
The presiding judge, Abdullahi Sani Sarki Yola, noted that Islamic teachings gave Audu the chance at three court sittings to reverse his confession in order to save himself from the punishment.
Audu, nevertheless, held on to his confession that he defiled the girl and was ready for his punishment.
In related news, the Niger state police command apprehended a 60-year-old man identified as one Haruna Lawal, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in the Wushishi community in the state.
A statement from the spokesperson of the state police command, Wasiu Abiodun, stated that Haruna, a scavenger, spotted the little girl while she was hawking fish in the area.
He allegedly offered her a N100 note and then took her into an uncompleted building where he had canal knowledge of her.

Kwara state first lady, Dr. Olufolake Abdulrazaq, earlier Thursday morning revealed that Risikat Azeez, the Kwara woman who went viral because of her and her daughters’ blue eyes, has asked to be reunited with her husband, Wasiu Omo-Dada.
Mrs Abdulrasaq who was one of the first to offer a helping hand to the Risikat and her children, disclosed this in an interview with TVC this morning.
“A lot of people have come on board, not just myself. I think the whole of Kwara is very happy with the story and with how things are turning out for Riskat and her children. I know you are probably aware that her husband has also come out now and he has come to our office and we have had a conversation with him and Risikat herself has said she wants to be reunited with him.” the first lady said
Riskiat went viral earlier this month after a Twitter user shared her story on social media — Risikat in an interview, said her husband walked out on her and their daughters because of their blue-eyes.
The husband however granted an interview about two days ago where he denied abandoning them because of the color of their eyes.
He said he loves his wife and children and that he had no problem with the color of her eyes. According to him, things turned sour in their marriage after Risikat became “wayward” and wasn’t “submissive” to him.
A lady identified as Kenya Stevens, has surprised many after she happily flaunted her ‘two husbands’ on social media.
According to Stephens, the two men are her life partners who live together with her in peace and harmony, adding that the love she feels for each of them is different.
That was the least shocking bit as she further disclosed that she has two sons each for the two men. She shared a happy family photo with both men while outlining their similarities and differences.

I set a goal for myself to become the youngest first female foreign affairs minister for Nigeria. For someone who was born in the UK. It sounded quite radical right?

Shortly after this happened I was told by a learned colleague @dayo247 about an event hosted by @ChathamHouse called “Re-Writing Politics to Africa’s Advantage.” President Obasanjo was one of the panelists.
I was determined to serve one of the greatest leaders in Africa. So I positioned myself front row. I sat in the seat reserved for a @thesundaytimes journalist – my apologies your correspondent arrived late.
I made eye contact with Mr Olusegun the entire event. From start to finish. Once the event was over. Guests and fellow panelists wanted to take pictures and engage with Pres. Obasanjo.
I stormed onto the stage and said, excuse me: “No more pictures! Can we get him into a private room, with a glass of water? In 10 minutes he’ll resume to discuss matters and entertain the press.”
He followed me & when we got into the room he asked: “Who’s daughter are you?” I responded “My father isn’t anyone you know. He’s Just a normal Nigerian citizen who relocated to the UK for a better life.”
He chuckled and said “so how can I help you?” I said “well I’m your new PA. I’m going to serve you.” I’ve been serving him since that date.
Moral of the story: Opportunities don’t always come to you. Sometimes you have to create your own opportunities.
