It has been revealed that the huge explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, that has killed over 100 people and injured more than 4,000, was caused by a welder at work.
Close to where the welder was working, there was “highly explosive sodium nitrate” confiscated from a ship by Lebanese authorities and placed in one of the warehouses located near the harbour.
The ammonium nitrate – more than 2,750 tons – had been stored in the warehouse for six years. Security sources in the country have claimed the welder sparked the initial fire that in turn ignited the chemicals, causing a blast that has been compared to a “nuclear bomb”.
The blast sent seismic shockwaves through the city on Tuesday evening, August 4, destroying buildings and shattering windows. Over 100 people died in the blast and more than 4,000 sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Many people are feared to still be trapped under the rubble, including those trapped inside their damaged homes.
As at this morning, smoke was still rising from the port, where a towering grain silo was shattered. Toxic gases were been reported in the aftermath along with strange orange clouds, with the US Embassy warning any Americans in Beirut to stay inside.
The head of Lebanon’s Red Cross said: “What we are witnessing is a huge catastrophe. There are victims and casualties everywhere.”
Ammonium nitrate is mainly used as a fertilizer but has also been linked to terror attacks after being used in homemade bombs.
General Security chief Abbas Ibrahim said it had been confiscated years earlier, reportedly from a ship.
Lebanese President Michel Aoun has declared a state of emergency for Beirut for two weeks – and vowed the “harshest punishments” for those responsible for causing the explosion.
Prime Minister Hassan Diab described the disaster as a “national catastrophe” and added that “those responsible will pay the price”. His wife and daughter were injured in the explosion after it damaged his residence at The Government Palace.
The Federal Government on Tuesday raised the fine for hate speech from N500,000 to 5 million naira.
According to reports by PUNCH, the government also mandated broadcast stations to devote airtime for public education on emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, made this known in Lagos on Tuesday while unveiling the Reviewed Broadcasting Code. This was contained in a statement by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, titled, ‘Remarks By The Hon.
Minister Of Information And Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, At The Unveiling Of The Reviewed Broadcasting Code In Lagos On Tuesday, Aug. 4th 2020’.
According to the statement made available on the verified social media platforms of the ministry, Mohammed said the amendments were necessitated by a Presidential directive in the wake of the 2019 general elections for an inquiry into the regulatory role of the National Broadcasting Commission as well as the conduct of the various broadcast stations before, during and after elections.
The minister noted that the recommendations were approved by the President Muhammadu Buhari, to reposition the NBC to better perform its regulatory role in the areas of political broadcasting, local content, coverage of emergencies, advertising, and anti-competitive behaviour.
The Big Brother Naija Lockdown housemates witnessed their very first Eviction Night show on Sunday, August 2, 2020. Unfortunately, it was a double eviction night, and subsequently, BBNaija housemates, Lilo and Ka3na became the first housemates to be evicted from the show.
While speaking to OAPs on Beat FM during their “After The House” media tour with Betway on Tuesday, August 4th, 2020, Lilo revealed that she was excited about being chosen as a finalist in Big Brother Naija.
However, she admits that she got distracted from putting in her best and showcasing her personality because of her deep involvement with fellow housemate Eric, which was probably what led to her eviction. She maintains that she is still in a relationship with her previous boyfriend, regardless.
‘My relationship with Eric distracted me from showing my personality,’ she said. ‘Eric and I just started off as friends but we got close and emotions got involved.’
Ka3na explained that she was not surprised about her eviction because the other housemates must have seen her as competition and as a threat to their ambition of winning the show. When asked about her relationship with Praise, Ka3na insists that it was of a non-sexual nature, and explained that she admired Praise for his openness and hoped to stay friends with him even after the show.
In discussing their favourite activities in the house, Lilo and Ka3na agreed that the Betway Arena Games were the highlight of their stay in the Big Brother Naija house. They loved the fact that the game required them to use their minds, stay focused and agile, in an attempt to win. They also admitted that the Betway Trivia games made them determined to have a better knowledge of sports.
Even though their time in the Big Brother Naija house is over, Lilo and Ka3na have ambitious plans on the things they would like to achieve after the house. Lilo plans to grow her fashion brand and also position herself to receive brand endorsements. On the other hand, former housemate, Ka3na explained that she went into the Big Brother Naija house for the exposure it would give her brand. She hopes to escalate her fashion company, go into property investment, and eventually have her own reality show.
The Big Brother Naija show is broadcast in 48 countries, so spending two weeks in the house has given them some level of exposure already. According to Ka3na, she went from having only 5 or 10 followers on Instagram to over 140,000 followers. Lilo had 4,000 followers before the show but now boasts of 120,000 followers on the social media platform.

A Nigerian Business Mogul, Transformational Coach and mother identified as Azubuike Chinenye has taken to her social media page to share a lengthy but inspiring story about her life.
Chinenye revealed that she survived domestic violence in her marriage and when it ended, her parents took care of her kids and she went back to school. She has now grown to become a successful businesswoman despite everything she faced in her past life.

She got married in the most painful way anyone can think of.
She ended up managing her situation just to have a happy home.
Her husband whom she met as a “growing man” and gave him her support. She watched him grow from self contain to 1bedroom to 3 bedroom flat and finally to their own duplex.
She watched him grow from a mere boat rider to a captain of a ship.
She watched him grow from leggedy benz to taxi, to Honda Bullet, to Toyota highlander and to Benz C class. She watched her used to be poor husband turn into a multi millionaire.
Unfortunately things went sour. She started enduring domestic violence, abuse, infidelity and maltreatment from her inlaws.
She hid her tribulations from her family cos she didn’t want them worried. She also was scared of the society mocking her for having a failed marriage. She prayed, she fasted, she did vigils, she did the midnight heart to heart talk with her husband just to find out what went wrong but it got worse.
She endured domestic violence both from the beatings with the use of belt to insults and body shaming, use of boiling ring, she even gets woken up at 1am to cook for him, she has slept one day and woke up by the bucket of water poured on her and the worst of it all? She gave birth via CS and was beaten for not taking her sister inlaws calls which resulted to her surgery site tearing open and she went into the theatre for another stitching.
She has all the scars showing her survival.
And the last straw was when she experienced a fatal abuse which landed her in coma. But as a fighter she fought it and survived coma.
That was the end of her marriage. She ran to her parent’s house with her 3 beautiful kids. She left when the 1st child was 3yrs and the twins were barely 10months old.
Her parents took her kids from her and asked her to go finish school which she did, she went for nysc and started life afresh doing every legit job she could think of just to raise money.
She saw hell. She suffered. She entered into dangerous depression and became suicidal. She even started resenting her kids and living a life of regret. She almost became mentally unstable but it took a pastor and her mother to save her.
How? They introduced the power of FORGIVENESS. She tried her best to forgive her ex husband and his family. It wasn’t easy but she did it. She decided to focus on her future and her kid’s future.
Life started falling into place. She was hustling different businesses and finally became a School Director and a caterer.
She is not yet where she wants to be but she is in a happy place. Today she is with her kids, taking care of them and paying her bills ALONE without any support from anyone except her supportive family.

2019 her ex family called her for reconciliation but she made them understand that she has forgiven them and bears no grudge but reconciliation is never possible.

Top Nigerian rapper, and lyricist, Yung6ix has revealed the amount he charges to be featured on a track based on his current worth.
The South-South based musician who went down memory lane in a recent post, stated that he receives $15,000 (N5.7m) for him to drop 16 bars on a track.
He made the revelation while flashing back to an interview he did before becoming a op-rated rapper. Yung6iz expressed disappointment at the situation surrounding him and the reporter who interviewed him as he had reportedly written an article on why the rapper should not be paid 1 million for a track some years ago.

Popular Nigerian singer/rapper and label boss, Olamide, was recently dragged on social media over the music video he shot for one of his hit track – Wonma.
In the video, some nurses are seen engaging in x-rated activities while on duty and this elicited the wide range of criticisms from social media users.
Olamide was lambasted because the video was deemed to be contributing to the infamous practice of sexualizing nurses.

A Nigerian lady, Annabel Cynthia has shared how popular reality star, Tacha saved her from suicide after her husband divorced her.
The twitter user who is also a Tacha stan, took to Twitter and revealed that she was about to commit suicide but Big Brother Naija star, Tacha saved her.
Sharing details on her she was saved by the reality star, Annabel said that she tapped from TAcha’s strength which was her source of inspiration and she recalled how the controversial BBNaija star went through a similar situation and came out of it.

Big Brother Naija housemate, Prince has threatened to tell Nengi to stay away from him for consisting switching between him and Ozo.

A new video has captured the moment a mother of two teenage girls tried to prevent the arrest of the pastor who allegedly raped and impregnated her daughters.
We earlier reported that a certain Pastor Nduka Anyanwu, who claims to be a Minister at a Lord’s Chosen Church branch in Oshodi, raped two sisters, aged 13 and 17, over a lengthy period in the name of casting out evil spirits from them and chasing away “bad luck”. (ICYMI)
Nudka allegedly began raping the 13-year-old girl when she was 9 and began raping the 17-year-old girl when she was 16. Both girls recently became pregnant and he promised to marry the first one and asked her to keep the child while also allegedly promising to procure an abortion for the younger sister.
For promising to marry her daughter, the mother of the girls was filmed protecting her daughters’ alleged rapist when police officers attempted to arrest him for his actions.
“Leave him. I said he’s not going,” the mother of the girls is heard saying as she placed herself between the pastor and the police officer who was trying to take him to the station.
Stop The Abuse Foundation, the NGO that reported the abuse to the police, said the parents of the girls were aware that the pastor has been defiling their daughters so as to cast out an evil mark that brings them badluck.

Popular Nigerian Author, Lawyer and social media critic, Reno Omokri, recently took to his social media page to drop some words of advice for avid fans of Big Brother Naija reality TV show.
The former presidential aide seems not too pleased with the content being exhibited at BBNaija which is no doubt the biggest reality show in Africa.
He called for a ban on the reality show and suggested that the entertainment industry should bring shows that promote youth business in the country,
Reno Omokri also slammed youths forming teams just to support their preferred housemates.
According to Reno Omokri, Nigerian youths should form good team like Team Otedola or Team Dangote so as to be mentored on how to achieve greatness and not a team Nengi that will be based on discussing big buttocks.

Popular Nigerian gay activist, Bisi Alimi has lashed out at controversial male barbie Bobrisky over his statement on his sexuality status
The British born gay activist noted that he’s putting lives of transgender women at risk.
It would be recalled that Bobrisky made the headlines some days ago when he revealed an in-depth secret about his sexuality status while speaking with journalists Dele Momodu.
Bobrisky during the interview stated that he still do girls and have not concluded on who he will be dating when it comes to gender.
Reacting to this, Gay Activist, Bisi Alimi stated that Bobrisky’s statement on the issue of sexuality will be putting the lives of transgender women in the country at risk.
According to Bisi Alimi, we are in a country where people don’t understand the true meaning of sexuality as they think it’s a thing they can just go into and come out anytime they wish.
He noted that it’s high time people get oriented on the issue of sexuality as one must be sure of what he or she is going for and should not consider doing the two gender at a time.

Big Brother Naija housemate, Laycon, has revealed his utter disgust for Kiddwaya anytime he shows up to kiss Erica.
Laycon, in a discussion with Prince and TrikyTee, said he finds it irritating that Kiddwaya always intrudes anytime he’s about to spend precious time with his love-interest, Erica.

Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold has finally reacted after his wife, songstress, Simi was outed on social media for the timing of her apology to the LGBTQ community.
Simi had apologized to the LGBTQ community for a homophobic comment she made some months back that homosexuality is “not natural“. Her comment angered a lot of the LGBTQ community but she however didn’t address it.
It was not until recently, on August 4, that the singer issued an apology but it coincided with the time her husband Adekunle Gold took to his Instagram page to promote his feature in a magazine that promotes LGBTQ creatives.
Nigerians had at first, accepted her apology and considered it as sincere. However, when people discovered Adekunle Gold’s post, they felt betrayed and accused Simi of only apologizing to prevent a backlash from the LGBTQ community.
The backlash came eventually and members of the LGBTQ community tagged the editor of the queer magazine and demanded that Adekunle Gold’s feature be taken down because his wife is homophobic and his views don’t represent them.
It appears the feature was eventually taken down because Adekunle Gold soon deleted the caption that was directing people to the link to his interview.
Reacting to the backlash, Adekunle Gold said his wife’s apology was “a pure and simple coincidence“. He added that she had “no idea about this or any interview whatsoever.”
He went on to extol his wife’s qualities, pointing out that she’s “a beautiful, kind, and loving person.” He added that people make mistakes and he begged people to consider her apology and give her a chance.
Big Brother Naija 2020 housemate, Ozo has hinted that he has no interest in a romantic relationship with Nengi.
From within and outside the house, Ozo is believed to have strong feelings for Nengi who he has spent much of his time trying to woo.
The on-and-off duo were chilling in the garden and they made known their feelings towards each other.
During the ‘garden talk’, Nengi spoke about Ozo snubbing her for a week and how she made attempts to talk to him to no avail. Ozo rebutted and said they both had conversations during the same timeframe she claimed he was ‘beefing her’.
However, as the conversation on dating lingered on, Nengi reminded Ozo, “I’ve told you that I don’t want a relationship in this house.”

Evicted Big Brother Naija lockdown housemate, Lilo has opened up on the situation with her main boyfriend after her televised romantic affair with Eric.
During one of her media rounds, she graced and interview with cool FM and OAP Dotun asked about the romantic moment Lilo shared with Eric in the house despite having a boyfriend outside and she admitted that her actions hurt his feelings 100 percent.
She added that she started out as friends with Eric but somethign led to another and they
eventually made out and it was something that happened over and over again.

A minister in popular Nigerian church, Lord’s Chosen has been accused of raping two underaged sisters for years and finally impregnating them under the guise of casting out “bad luck” from them.
Pastor Nduka Anyanwu, who ministers in the Lord’s Chosen Church, Canaan Land branch in Oshodi, allegedly impregnated the sisters aged 17 and 13.
According to an NGO known as Stop The Abuse, Nduka allegedly began raping the younger girl when she was just 9 and began raping the older girl when she was only 16.
They also alleged that the parents of the girls knew but allowed the pastor to carry on because he told them it’s the only way he could remove the “spiritual mark” on them that “repels good things”.
When he was eventually nabbed by a team of advocates from Stop The Abuse Foundation, the parents of the girls allegedly tried to defend him. The parents refused his arrest based on the fact that he’s a man of God and he has already promised to marry their older daughter.
According to the NGO, the pastor said that he wants the older sister to keep the pregnancy and he’ll marry her but asked that the younger sister aborts her pregnancy because what happened between them was a mistake.
Police officers at the Makinde Police Station arrested the pastor and he’s now in their custody. Stop The Abuse Foundation wrote:
Pastor Nduka Anyanwu who should be better known as Pastor Penis has allegedly raped and impregnated two sisters aged 17 and 13 years and has said he wants the older girl to keep the pregnancy because he wants to marry her but that the younger one should abort her own pregnancy as sexually defiling her was a mistake which he regretted even though he has had carnal knowledge of her uncountable times.
The wicked pastor who claims he is a minister from the Lord’s Chosen Church , Canaan land branch, Oshodi has been sexually defiling the younger girl since she was 9 years old and the older girl since she was 16 years under the pretext that she had a spiritual mark on her body that repels good things and the only way to remove the mark was to have carnal knowledge of her. She refused vehemently and reported to her parents who insisted that she must accept.
Drama however ensued when a team of advocates from Stop The Abuse Foundation and Child Advocates and Vulnerable Person’s Network tried to get him arrested with the help of policemen from Makinde Police Station,Oshodi. A massive explosion erupted in Lebanon’s capital, Beirut on Tuesday, August 4th.
The explosion which occurred in the afternoon shook several parts of the capital with Local Red Cross reporting hundreds injured and widespread damage.
Local TV stations reported the blast was at Beirut’s port inside an area where firecrackers were stored, while an Associated Press photographer near Beirut’s port said he witnessed people wounded on the ground and widespread destruction in central Beirut.
A man on facebook identified as Abiona Taofeek Altruist has taken to his social media page to pray for ‘infidels’ who take pictures of themselves and share on social media.
According to Abiona, it is indeed a great sin and he asked people guilty of this to repent and turn back to Allah.
His post reads ;
May Allah bless those brothers and sisters who have not for once uploaded their pictures on social media, and may He soften the heart of those stubborn people who are so fond of doing it. Just stop capturing a picture, it’s indéed a great sin. Repent now and turn back to Your Lord[Allah]. May Allah forgive our shortcomings, give us the best understanding of His Deen[Islam] and preserve us upon sunnah and goodness.
Big Brother Naija housemates, Neo and Dorathy were recently engaged in a conversation and in course of it, Neo got pissed over Dora’s inability to understand an idea he was trying to sell to her especially about Ozo’s “situationship” with Nengi in the house.
Appalled by the fact that Dorathy’s comprehension was slow, he in course of their talk told her she thinks like a frog.
On Monday night, Ozo emerged as head of house for week 3 and chose Dorathy as his Deputy. Not long after, Neo cornered Dorathy to explain the ‘situationship’ Ozo finds himself in with Nengi.
To Neo, Dorathy is misunderstanding Ozo and failing to act as the best friend in the situation – he asked if she’s interested in Ozo to which she replied “NO” and that none of them has interest in the other as lovers but just friends.
According to Neo, Ozo has placed Dorathy at a high point in his life because he values her as a friend but she’s making it difficult for him when she fails to see him in the same light.
And with her inability to understand his stressed point, a frustrated Neo was left with no other option than to tell her “you dey think like frog“.

She was the cause of whatever was going on between their 3 triangle, the ka3na and Lucy and Dorathy vs Nengi. Ka3na was the main factor.”
A Nigerian man with the name, Maximus Ann-Kio Briggs has revealed the best charm ladies use to attract men to themselves.
