Funke Akindele made it to top spot of the ‘Nigerian Twitter trends’, just after President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari was buried yesterday after dying from Coronavirus.
Funke Akindele
This came after Nigerian Twitter users pointed out that social distancing was not observed at the burial ceremony of the late Chief of Staff.

Police Command in Abia on Saturday confirmed the arrest of an unnamed police operative for killing one Mr Friday Arunsi, a middle-aged businessman at his Ebem Ohafia community.
The Abia Police Public Relations Officer, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, who confirmed the arrest to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday, said that police operative who killed the businessman was currently in detention.
Ogbonna said that the Police Commissioner in the state, Mr Ene Okon went to Ebem Ohafia on Saturday with a team to console the family of the deceased.
An eye witness, Sunday Onwuka said the policeman on Friday shot and killed Arunsi at his shop at Ebem, in Ohafia local government area of Abia.
Onwuka said that the late businessman and his uncle, Moses, were offloading their consignment of beverages from a truck at their store at Eni Njoku Street in Ebem when some policemen walked into the shop.
He said that the policemen told Moses and Arunsi to stop offloading their goods from the truck that brought the consignment but Arunsi and his uncle asked them why they should stop.
Onwuka said that instead of giving them a reasonable response, the policemen threatened them and later walked to the police station where they signed for a gun which they allegedly used to kill Arunsi on their return.
He said that in an attempt to save Arunsi’s life, his kinsmen rushed him to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia where he was confirmed dead late on Friday.
Another source, who pleaded anonymity, said when news of Arunsi’s death broke in Ebem on Saturday morning, the youths protested with his corpse on the streets of Ebem Ohafia, after it was returned home.
He said that instead of the police authorities calming the situation, they mobilized the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives to the scene of the protest.
The source said that before the SARS men arrived, the military men were calming the youths down until the SARS operatives shot at them and injured a barber, Okoro Kalu who is now in the hospital.
He said these chain of events involving Arunsi’s death and Kalu’s shooting made the youths to regroup and attacked the Ohafia police station which they broke into and released inmates.
He said that the youths then went and burnt Ebem Customary and Magistrate Courts alongside the police quarters, DPO’s residence and some vehicles in the compound.
NAN reports that Arunsi’s death brings the number of Abia residents killed by security agents since the lockdow began on April 1 to five.

Abia State government has arrested a suspected COVID-19 patient, Vincent Prosper, that was declared wanted yesterday.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information in the state, Chief John Okiyi-Kalu.
Prosper, who had disappeared after alerting NCDC of manifesting symptoms of COVID-19, was apprehended Saturday morning in Aba.
According to Kalu: “Prosper called to report that he was manifesting symptoms of the virus and recently had contacts with a confirmed patient in Akwa Ibom state in addition to recently returning from Lagos.
But when our team arrived at his given location, he disappeared and later confessed that he saw the ambulance and the fully kitted RR-team, lost courage, detested the possibility of being locked down and decided to switch off his phone and disappear into thin air.
We continued to look for him quietly and at some point got him again on the phone and he gave us a wrong address at Azikiwe Road and a team was immediately dispatched to the location but did not find him there.
At that point, we decided to enlist the services of a top security agency in the state to find him and also alerted members of the public yesterday regarding the situation in the hope that he would voluntarily come forward. He never did!
But late last night, the security agency pinned his location down and this morning our RR-team stormed the location with security agents and took him into custody at our isolation facility where we have now collected samples from him for testing.”

A farmer and petty trader in Nasarawa state has committed suicide after his wife informed him that their only child, whom they welcomed after 12 years of marriage, was fathered by another man.
Jacob Numku, from Toto community in Nasarawa State, was told by his wife Juliet that their five-month-old baby was actually fathered by a young man named Uchenna, whom she had met in the course of business.
Numku became depressed after his wife confessed to him and he told The Nation that “It’s a huge loss akin to bereavement.”
However, no one suspected that he will go as far as taking his own life.
The shock of his only child being fathered by a stranger was said to have been compounded by Juliet’s open declaration that she prefers to spend the rest of her life with Uchenna because of the satisfaction she gets from being with him, the publication reports.
Juliet told The Nation that she decided to have an affair with Uchena, a petty trader, because her husband could not father a child after their 12 years of marriage and was not taking any serious step to address their childlessness.
Juliet was said to have become pregnant for Uchenna about eight months after they started a romance. Her pregnancy was celebrated by Numku as well as family friends and neighbours who all thought that her husband was responsible for the pregnancy.
Events, however, took a different turn when five months after she was delivered of a baby boy, Juliet travelled to Keffi on the pretext that she needed medical attention at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC). But once she was out of town, she put a call through to Numku and bluntly told him that he was not the father of their only baby and that she was on her way to Keffi to return the baby to his biological father.
Narrating his ordeal in an interview with The Nation in Toto two weeks before he committed suicide, Numku recalled that he was overwhelmed with joy when the child he thought was his own was placed in his arms for the first time about four months ago and vowed to be a wonderful father.
He recalled amid sobs the day his wife left home for Keffi, telling him that she was going to the hospital, only to call him on the phone moments later to tell him that he was not the biological father of the child and that she had decided to return the child to the rightful owner.
Numku had said: “To say that I am devastated is an understatement. There are no words to aptly describe the loss that I feel.
“After grappling with infertility for more than 11 years, I thought I was finally a father. I lived with the pains of the pregnancy and I was there at his birth.
“It was the most incredible moment of my life. I called friends and relatives to tell them the good news that my pains and shame were over. I never knew that I was celebrating somebody else’s child.
“When she told me that she had missed her period, I was happy. And when the child arrived, I was overwhelmed with emotion as I announced to whoever cared to listen that God had finally answered my prayers, only for me to find out that he is not really mine.
“It is a huge loss akin to a bereavement except that the grief is twisted, even magnified, because he is not dead.
“I am no longer a father. I am left with not only a bleak chasm of loss but also an enormous sense of betrayal.
“Her delivery was the proudest moment of my life, but she knew from day one that I was not responsible for the pregnancy. Today, there is no longer the usual cry of a baby in my house.”
After Jacob Numku committed suicide by hanging, his wife Juliet spoke to the publication over the phone. Juliet admitted that the deceased was her husband but he was not the father of her son.
She said: “Yes, he was my husband but he was not the father of my son. That is the truth and I can’t hide it from him.
“We stayed together as husband and wife for 12 years without a child. I did everything humanly possible for us to go to the hospital but he refused, and his only excuse was that God would bring a child at the appropriate time.
“The truth is that we never had any intercourse during the period I took in, so what made him to think he is the father?
“In the course of my business, I met a young man; he toasted me and in view of all the odds, I agreed and submitted myself to him.
“During this period, I made sure that my husband did not even see my pant. There was an opportunity and I wanted to test another man to know where the problem lies. The guy was actually giving me the needed satisfaction and in less than nine months, he was able to impregnate me.
“It is better I tell him this early because I am no longer interested in the marriage. If he wants, let him to go to court. I will bring the child for a DNA test to be conducted to prove what I am saying.
“The truth is that the man (Numku) never slept with me during that period, so it is not possible for him to be responsible for the pregnancy.”
The publication also spoke with Uchenna on the phone, and he said: “I only got to know that the woman was somebody’s wife when she was about to put to bed. I could not have ‘toasted’ somebody’s wife.
“I blame her seriously for misleading me into sleeping with her; I never knew she was somebody’s wife. I am the biological father of the boy and I have taken him. It is unfortunate but there is nothing I can do. It is my blood.”
It was gathered that two weeks after Numku narrated his sad experience to the press in Toto, he committed suicide by hanging.
President Buhari has finally reacted to the death of his former Chief of Staff, who died on Friday April 17 from COVID—19.
In a statement released on Saturday evening, President Buhari described Kyari as a true patriot and loyal friend..
Below is the President’s full statement on Abba Kyari.
“TO MY FRIEND, MALLAM ABBA KYARI
Mallam Abba Kyari, who died on 17th April, 2020, at the age of 67 from complications caused by the Coronavirus, was a true Nigerian patriot. My loyal friend and compatriot for the last 42 years – and latterly my Chief-of-Staff – he never wavered in his commitment to the betterment of every one of us.
He was only in his twenties when we first met. A diligent student, soon after he was blessed with the opportunity to study abroad – first at Warwick and then law at the University of Cambridge. But there was never any question Abba would bring his first-rate skills and newly acquired world-class knowledge back to Nigeria – which he did – immediately upon graduation.
Whilst possessing the sharpest legal and organisational mind, Abba’s true focus was always the development of infrastructure and the assurance of security for the people of this nation he served so faithfully. For he knew that without both in tandem there can never be the development of the respectful society and vibrant economy that all Nigerian citizens deserve.
In political life, Abba never sought elective office for himself. Rather, he set himself against the view and conduct of two generations of Nigeria’s political establishment – who saw corruption as an entitlement and its practice a byproduct of possessing political office.
Becoming my Chief of Staff in 2015, he strove quietly and without any interest in publicity or personal gain to implement my agenda.
There are those who said of him that he must be secretive – because he did not have a high public profile. But Abba was the opposite: he simply had no need, nor did he seek, the cheap gratification of the crowd; for him, there was nothing to be found in popular adulation. He secured instead satisfaction and his reward solely and only from the improvement of the governance of this great country.
Working, without fail, seven days each and every week, he acted forcefully as a crucial gatekeeper to the presidency, ensuring no one – whether minister or governor had access beyond another – and that all those representing and serving our country were treated equally.
He made clear in his person and his practice, always, that every Nigerian – regardless of faith, family, fortune or frailty – was heard and treated respectfully and the same.
Mallam Abba Kyari was the very best of us. He was made of the stuff that makes Nigeria great. Rest In Peace, my dearest friend.
To his loving wife and doting family who survive him, I extend my heartfelt sorrow at your loss.
Muhammadu Buhari
President, Federal Republic of Nigeria

The Ikorodu General Hospital has recorded a suspected COVID-19 related death, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
A reliable source told NAN that the deceased, a woman, was rushed to the hospital by her relatives on April 12 for treatment.
According to the source, the deceased patient presented Kidney failure, but was discovered to be manifesting suspected COVID-19 symptoms.
“Relations of the deceased patient was advised to take the woman to the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba, Lagos for COVID-19 screening.
“Against medical advice, the deceased patient was, however, taken back home by relatives.
“But, she was brought back to the hospital and presented her at the Emergency Centre the following night in critical condition,” NAN gathered.
The source said that the deceased woman, suspected to be Covid-19 patient, was eventually admitted and isolated in a ward.
“But unfortunately, the patient died before day break in the hospital,” the source told NAN.
According to the source, officials of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) were informed and came to the hospital to take samples from the deceased patient.
The source told NAN that they were informed on Friday that the deceased result tested positive to Covid-19, with warning to the hospital management to isolate all health officials that attended to the deceased patient.
Information obtained by NAN revealed that NCDC officials were at the Ikorodu General Hospital on on Friday to take samples of health workers who attended to the deceased.
“Some of the health workers that attended to the patient had been crying, as most of them did not use Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), while attending to the deceased patient.
“Most times, health workers wear nylon as PPE, and the numbers of gloves, which are usually about two to four given daily to each health workers to attend to patients are inadequate,” the source said.
The official said that there had been several complaints to the hospital management about the welfare and safety of health workers, and nothing was done to improve the situation.
The source also said that about four health workers had direct contact with the deceased patient.
According to the source, health workers at the hospital had henceforth decided that, “No PPE, no work,” will be their stance from April 20.
However, efforts made by NAN to get the Medical Director of Ikorodu General Hospital, Dr Oluwafunmilayo Bankole, to comment on the issue proved abortive.
Several calls and SMS sent by NAN to Bankole’s line to get further details were unanswered.
Also, Mr Tunbosun Ogunbanwo, the Public Affairs Director, Lagos State Ministry of Health, was called by NAN to comment on the situation.
Ogunbanwo simply said, “I am not aware.”
When NAN reached out to the State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, on the issue, the call was picked by one of his Personal Assistants, who told NAN that the Commissioner was in a meeting.
The commissioner aide told NAN to send SMS, which was immediately done, but with no response as at the time of filing this report.

I don’t even own any more sex toys, I got rid of them, but I definitely need to stack back up. I have to look for ways to get boldly contact or wait till we come out of this. It is really ain’t that serious yet.
On the other hand, I think it’s a blessing that I am single during this time. I can’t imagine having boyfriend issues during this time, it won’t be a funny encounter.

However, I was more concerned about an event I went to later that week. With all these going on, I think celebrities should abide by the laws and regulations put out by the government,” she added.
