Rapper, Dremo drags user who tried to pit him against Ycee

DMW recording artiste and rapper, Dremo didn’t leave room for mercy when he dragged the hell out of a Twitter user who tried to pit him against his colleague, Ycee.

The user had taken to his page to put up a side by side photo of the two artistes and asked that they pick which out of the two, raps better.

The user’s action is one which is quite usual among fans who feel their favourite artiste is better than other people’s favourite artiste, so to settle, they head on to social media for a vote.

However, the impact that this kind of action has on the artistes is usually where the problem is as there tend to be animosity between them as a result of the votes.

But some of the time, some of these artistes come out to talk against actions like this as they ask the fans to respect and appreciate the artistic expression of each artiste and not pitch them against each other.

That’s probably what Dremo was driving at when he responded to the user on Twitter but his savage manner of approach is what has us feeling sorry for the user.

Dremo’s response below,

55 journalists have reportedly died from Coronavirus in 23 countries in the past two months

A press freedom organization has reported that 55 journalists have died worldwide from the novel Coronavirus in the past two months.

The Press Emblem Campaign (PEC), revealed this in a statement ahead of World Press Freedom Day on Sunday.

The organization lamented that media workers often lack proper protection for covering the pandemic and warned that many of them were putting their lives in danger.

Since 1st of March, the PEC said it had recorded the deaths of 55 media workers across 23 countries from the virus, but admitted that it was unclear if all of them had become infected on the job.

“Journalists are at great risk in this health crisis because they must continue to inform, by going to hospitals, interviewing doctors, nurses, political leaders, specialists, scientists, patients,” PEC said in a statement.

It said that in a range of countries “indispensable protective measures” like physical distancing, quarantines, and mask-wearing had not been applied, especially early on in the outbreak.

Ecuador was the hardest-hit country, with at least nine journalists who had succumbed to the virus, followed by the United States, with eight, Brazil with four, and Britain and Spain with three each, it said.

The organization also echoed warnings from the United Nations that the pandemic, which had killed more than 230,000 people out of more than 3.2 million infected worldwide is being used in some countries as an excuse to crackdown on the media.

“Censorship, internet shutdowns, arbitrary detentions of journalists, physical and verbal attacks, and emergency laws that restrict press freedom have occurred in recent weeks,” the PEC said.

It added that this was particularly worrying at a time when access to reliable public information was more vital than ever.

“Transparency is paramount and can be lifesaving in a health crisis,” it said.

Men should share home chores with wives – Actor Akah Nnani

Nollywood Actor, Akah Nnani has reckoned men should also take part in chores in the home and not leaving every activity in the home for their wives to carry out.

Nnani, who took to his social media page to advocate for gender equality, wrote that it is an all-round responsibility of the man to take care of his household and protect them from invaders of any sort.

He shared a photo of himself doing the dishes and wrote ;

I believe a man’s responsibility is to protect the woman, his wife, from stress. In these times, fathers are to protect their kids from germs. Help your kids wash their hands. Protect your family from the social damage of having an absent father.

We always talk about ‘wife material’ well, there should be #HusbandMaterial too then.
We live in a world where women are unfairly burdened with the responsibility of caring for the home alone. They cook, clean, take care of the kids and all sorts… Then still have to do work.

I’ve been married for over a year now and before marriage, I always knew I didn’t want domestic help. In my home, when she cooks I wash the bathroom, she sweeps, I mop. She is tired, I make the indomie. I wash the dishes. I also keep MY home. Because it is mine too.

I know men can do better when we know better. This is why I am joining the #HeForShe campaign to remind my brothers that #GenderEquality should also be at home. Oh, the world would be so much better and we would be so much happier if we worked together to make every human feel valued.

”My children’s abductors have asked for £100, 000 ransom” – Father of twin children abducted in Oyo state one week ago, cries out

About a week ago, two year old twin children of popular Oyo state Islamic cleric, Sheik Taofeeq Akewugbagold, were abducted from their home in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The cleric who disclosed the abduction in a post on his Facebook page in the early hours of Sunday April 26, announced that his children, a boy and a girl, were kidnapped at gunpoint at his Ojoo residence on Saturday night, April 25.

The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Fadeyi Olugbenga, who confirmed the incident, said efforts are being made by the state operatives to locate the abductors and rescue the children alive.

However it’s been one week now and the twins are still with their abductors.

LIB reached out to children’s father, Taofeeq Akewugbagold, who disclosed that the abductors have contacted him and are demanding for £100, 000 ransom for their release.

“We have been contacted and we have been exchanging conversations with the abductors. We are begging them on a daily basis to reduce the ransom. They have asked for £100, 000 which is N55 million. Since then we have been begging them and I believe they will consider our plea.

The abductors speak good English meaning they are graduates. They were first harsh but later very friendly. It is very unfortunate. I am appealing to the government to wake up to their duty. If things continue like this, only God knows what will happen.” he said

Sheik Taofeeq said the mother of the twins who waited for 12 years before giving birth to them, has been terribly ill since the incident happened. She did a video few days ago weeping as she appealed to the abductors of her children to release them.

We have been moving their mother from one hospital to the other since that day while for me, I am just trying to control myself because it is raising my BP. I put my hope in Almighty Allah. he said

The cleric said the abductors have also sent him pictures of his children “looking sad”.

They sent their pictures to us and we studied it and saw it was not photoshopped. The children looked sad. One was crying while the second one’s eye was swollen. It is an experience I can never pray for my worse enemy. I need my children” he said

LIB tried reaching out to the state police command spokesperson to ascertain if there is any progress in the search for the twins but he was unavailable to pick our calls.
