George Mambezi, the father who has gone viral for unleashing anger on his son who failed to sit for Maths and English exams, scored poorly in other courses and got an ‘A’ grade in music despite spending $21,000 on his school fees, has a word for everyone
Mambezi who is reportedly a top staff at a multi-national Telecommunications company in Zambia, responded to ‘human rights activists’ who have been criticising him for ‘disciplining’ his son.
George, in a letter addressed to a Zambian blog, has now responded to the criticism’s, according to him, only he can decide how best to discipline his son as he was brought up in the village and his Christian religion permits him to discipline his child.
Read his response below ;
“First of all Bambino is my son and I have the right to discipline him, am a staunch Christian and an advocate for human rights.”
”In as much as I can slap my son, it’s all because of love and me wanting the best for him.
I cannot kill him or feed him snakes if he requested for fish. I grew up in the village and am one of the few people that were privileged to acquire a sound education and I would want to pass that legacy to the next generation.”
”The Bible clearly says spare the rod spoil the child in Proverbs 13:24. I won’t let my child eat ma 2V in the name of human rights therefore if you think I was wrong , go to the relevant authorities and process the adoption papers for him.”
”Let’s see if you will be happy seeing him walk in the streets singing for K2 like Fly Jay and Lawino after spending $21,000 on tuition.”
A Nigerian man who is a fan of Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie has called her out for being rude and disrespectful after he met her in the U.S.A.
According to the man, he was in a supermarket when Mercy walked in. An African American guy excitedly walked up to her and asked for a photo but Mercy rudely shoved him off without even acknowledging him.
She was out shopping when the guy met her and she exhibited this alleged rude behaviour.
Another Nigerian guy nearby, a journalist known as Babalola, narrated what happened to blogger Kemi Ashefon.
Babalola said, “you people should be talking to your Nollywood stars. I just ran into Mercy Johnson at one African store in Randallstown, MD about 10 minutes ago.
One black American guy, apparently married to a Nigerian, asked MJ for a photograph together, she declined and talked rudely to the guy.
“I don’t know you,” she told the guy and rebuffed explanation by the guy that it was his wife who knows her. She waived the guy.
The black guy was muttering over the way she treated him all through while we were at the check-out counter. Not that she must agree to having to take photos with him but there are polite ways to reject such without being seen to be rude. She’s a star for God’s sake!
“Thank God I’m not the type that asked for photographs she could have been rude to me too. I was elated to see her because she’s one of my favorite Nigerian actresses. Maybe she’s touchy because she appears to be pregnant. She was in company with her little girl.”
A Nigerian man is being hailed as a “good man” after he returned 100,000 Naira that fell from a woman’s bag while she was on a bike in Anambra state.
Kimberly Ezeike narrated how he was driving when he saw a bike rider speed past him with a passenger. Almost immediately, a nylon fell from the bike, and he said he picked it up and noticed it was money.
The following day being a market day in his town, he went to the market, making inquiries about the bike guy, who then later directed him to the woman who owns the money.
He said the woman was so grateful that she tried to reward him for his kindness but he wouldn’t accept any reward because he did it for God.
Facebook users have left comments to praise him and call him a good man.
Narrating what transpired, Kimberly wrote: “I don’t Know that people will still be careless with money at this point of hunger and poverty in Nigeria.
“Yesterday 20th April I was driving home in my country-side, when a bike (okada man) passed me, not up to a pole I saw a black nilon that have a small opening, I then saw few 1k note, I stopped and picked it up. Then when I got home I opened it and counted it, it was 100,000 naira.
“Because yesterday was my town’s Market day (Nkwo Igbo) and these women do not know what is lockdown. Tho I do see the bike man but don’t really know his name, his number or where he is from. I started looking for him describing to people who I am looking for, until someone who knows me gave me his phone number.
“I called and ask him few questions he told me that, the woman he was carrying at that time, is his customer he called her (mama Ebube or Mama Semi) that she deals on red oil by gallons. He further said that she was looking for her money and ordered him to take her back to her town Ekwulobia, to check if she left it there . I said to him to give her my number. He said why? I told him that I picked some money after they overtake me in the morning and no one is coming from front or back, so I guessed she is the owner.
“Not up to 5 minutes I started receiving calls from different numbers. I told them to come to Our Lady of Fatima Church and call me. In less than 30 minutes she, her husband, 2 of her neighbors and 2 more people came.
“So when I went there after much verification questions again as I did on phone earlier, her answers were very accurate on how the money was kept and set by denominations, I handed the money over to her, she busted in tears and gave me 5k I said no do not worry. She gave me the whole money and said, “take how much you think that is good”…… I said to her, please ma I do not need any reward, what I did is for God.
She started shouting and singing and her shouting started attracting passers by, I left.

Narrating what he believes happened to LIB, a cousin of late Joy, Philip Ejeh, said ;
What really happened is that on April 20th at about 4pm, I received a call from the village that our sister, Joy, is somewhere at Bariga where she is working as a househelp but that she is now dead. I never knew she was in Lagos. So I made enquiries and they sent the agent’s number that brought her to that place to me. I called the agent who narrated what happened.
The agent said it was on Sunday evening April 19th that they called her that the girl is misbehaving and that she should come and take her away. Actually when the girl started working on the 10th of January, they began by paying her N10, 000. Subsequently the couple refused to pay her salary and she decided to stop working. Joy said she wanted them to open an account for her so they can be paying her salary to her directly and that if they are not ready to do that, she is no longer ready to work.
They started complaining that the girl wasn’t working as they expected her to work.
On the 10th of April, they asked her to leave their house since she wasn’t ready to work with them again. She packed her things and went to the bus stop but couldn’t find a bus due to the lockdown. She had to go back to their house. The couple saw her and were like they had told her to go, why is she still hanging around. They called the agent who pleaded with them that since there is a lockdown, they should bear with her and manage Joy pending when there is free movement so she can come and move her away from their house.
They allowed her to enter their house but on the 19th, they chased her again and were like if the agent doesn’t come to pick her, they never want to see her around their house again. At that point, they were beating her again. They called the agent who pleaded with them to still keep her since there is no movement. She told them to please keep her until Monday April 20th that she would find her way to come and pick her up. The agent heard the husband telling the wife that she should stop beating the girl and that the beating is okay. In the process, the phone went off.
On Monday April 20th around 7am, they called the agent and was trying to make some enquiries about the girl. The agent was like any information you need about the girl, ask her and she would supply you with the information. They continued to insist. It was around 11am that they opened up to her that Joy is dead. The agent was like what happened. Who killed her? What killed her? The couple said she was supposed to wake up and that she did not wake up so they had to go and check her room only to find her hanging. The agent was like this is not possible, you should tell me that you beat her to death.
They told her that they were saying the truth and that at the moment, they have moved the corpse to the police station and then to the mortuary. They sent the photo where she hung herself. The agent forwarded the picture to us.”
Phillip said Mrs Fortune alleged that she found out that the deceased stole her indomie noodles and some of her other personal belongings.
Joy’s family members are however insisting that their sister was killed by Mrs Fortune. They questioned how somebody can commit suicide by hanging and still have her legs touching the floor.

Nigeria’s state governors have agreed to implement a lockdown between states in order to limit the spread of the Coronavirus disease in Nigeria.
According to a press statement released by the 36 state governors, the agreement to implement the two weeks lockdown was reached after a meeting on Wednesday April 22, between member governors chaired by NGF Chairman Kayode Fayemi, as the disease has now spread to 25 states in Nigeria.
The statement reads :
“In order to strengthen coordinated implementation of necessary public health recommendations across states, governors resolved to set up COVID-19 committees at the regional level, headed by their state Commissioners of Health.
“Regional committees will continue to interface with the State Task Force Committees on COVID-19 already established in each state. The forum also held a minute’s silence in honour of all Nigerians who have lost their lives from coronavirus, especially health workers who were in the front lines of the pandemic.
“Members also conveyed their condolence to President Muhammadu Buhari and the people of Borno State on the passing of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Abba Kyari, who passed away on 17th April 2020 in the line of duty to the country.
“The NGF Chairman briefed the forum on the rapidly evolving situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and coordination efforts with the Federal Government, multilateral and bilateral partners and the private sector through the Coalition against COVID-19 (CACOVID).
“With over 25 states now affected by the spread of the virus and increasing evidence of community transmission, state governors called for the decentralisation of the COVID-19 response as the best chance of nipping in the bud the spread of the virus in communities.
“Following an update from the NGF Secretariat on the number of COVID-19 cases in the country, members expressed concern over the rising spread of the virus among health workers and resolved to work with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to ensure that health workers are adequately provided with personal protective equipment (PPE) and are constantly traineod on the use of protective gears.
“The forum also received briefing from the governors of Lagos, Bauchi, Oyo and Ogun states who shared their experiences and lessons from the fight against COVID-19.
“Governors unanimously agreed to the implementation of an inter-state lockdown in the country over the next two weeks to mitigate the spread of the virus from state to state. Only essential services will be permitted. “Lastly, the forum congratulated the Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, who after nearly four weeks of testing positive and observing very strict medical regime, has now received two consecutive negative test results for the coronavirus,” the statement read.

The Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 has stated that there hasn’t been a scientific proof to back up the claims that the disease can be transmitted sexually.
Some reports in Nigerian media space have suggested that the virus can remain in the testis of infected males even after treatment.

“At the moment, there is no evidence of sexual transmission when it comes to COVID-19, but of course, we are still in the early days of the disease.
