South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa has placed the country’s Minister for Communications and Digital Technologies, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, on a special leave for two months, one month of which will be unpaid.

The leave comes after a picture of her having lunch with her politician friend, MP Mduduzi Manana, during lockdown emerged on social media.

In a statement released Wednesday morning, the president expressed his disapproval of the minister’s actions, stating that it undermined the requirement that all citizens stay at home during the lockdown.

The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, has declared a Special intervention packages for its citizens to cushion the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Recall that on March 30, he declared a 2-weeks lockdown on Kumasi and Accra and Kumasi, the two most populous parts of the country as part of measures to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

The President in his speech, said private water companies have been contracted to provide water to these communities. He also assured the citizens of stable electricity supply.

“The Ghana Water Company Ltd and the Electricity Company of Ghana have been directed to ensure the stable supply of water and electricity during this period. In addition, there will be no disconnection of supply.

Furthermore, government will absorb the water bills for all Ghanaians for the next three months that is April, May and June. All water tankers, publicly and privately-owned, are also going to be mobilised to ensure the supply of water to all vulnerable communities.” he said

Churches were shut down in Nigeria during 1918 pandemic – Pastor Sam Adeyemi counters Pastor Chris’ claim on Antichrist, 5G and Coronavirus (video)

Pastor Sam Adeyemi has countered Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s claim of government shutting down churches, enforcing the lockdown to install the 5G network and the Antichrist being the cause of Coronavirus.

Pastor Sam was speaking in an Instagram live session with Pastor Poju Oyemade who is the founder and senior pastor of The Covenant Nation, he said he studied how the 1918 pandemic affected Nigeria and found out that churches, mosques, schools and markets were also shut down at that time.

Adeyemi stated that people are giving extreme interpretations of the current crisis, even though it has nothing to do with the Antichrist.

Adeyemi said;

“I went online, there was a pandemic 100 years ago, let me go and study it and check it out, because the interpretation that people are giving to this pandemic, they range from one extreme to the other,” Adeyemi said.

“I don’t even want to go into the details now, but there’s quarrel on social media now; from 5G to 10G and other things. I decided to check, how did it affect Nigeria?

“I found a research article by a history lecturer at the University at Birnin Kebbi. Beautiful research!”

“I had to buy it. But I was happy buying it, because when I read it, it was amazing, it dug into the British archives, all the records that the colonial officers kept.

“[In] 1918 September, when the thing hit, the way air travel now is the main thing for global transportation and it was air travel that moved the coronavirus around, it was sea travel that spread the influenza around then.

“The ships that brought sick people into the Lagos port; I got the names, the dates they arrived, how it spread in Nigeria.

“I’d tell you the one that I saw and almost screamed, they closed churches, they closed mosques, they shut down schools, they shut down markets. 1918. So, some of us now think it is the anti-christ that is at work, he does not want us to gather together and fellowship.

“We should just be thanking God that we have internet now and we can be relating without meeting together. They shut churches in 1918. So when the leader takes perspective like that, then you can calm people down and tell them there will be life after this thing.”

Adeyemi concluded that though there are opportunities in every crisis, it is a leader’s duty to see the opportunities and not to project fear on his/her followers.

Veterinary doctor warns people that pets can pass Coronavirus between humans (Video)

A veterinary doctor has warned people that pets like cats and dogs could help pass Coronavirus between humans even though the chances of that happening are very slim.

The Vet doctor was responding to concerns about whether humans can catch Coronavirus from their pets.

A tiger at a New York City zoo tested positive for Coronavirus in what is believed to be the first known Covid-19 case in a US animal or tiger and transmitted it to other six other lions and tigers in the zoo. Scientists say pets can’t transmit the virus to humans but a vet doctor Dr Scott Miller says he believes pets can transfer the virus using their fur.

Dr Scott speaking on British daytime TV programme ‘This Morning’ with TV Host Philip Scoffield said: ‘So at the moment we don’t believe that cats can, or any animal, pass it back to us from the initial infection.

‘Now we don’t believe at all that dogs or cats can transmit it back to us as an infected host. ‘What we are concerned about is that they may be able to act as a surface – so if someone with Covid-19 coughs on their dog and then takes it for a walk, then you pet their dog and then touch your face, you could potentially pick up Covid-19 that way – although the chances are very very low.’

Dr Scott added: ‘This case with the tiger – there’s also been one reflected in a domestic cat in Belgium – where that cat did actually did show some coronavirus symptoms, i.e. had respiratory symptoms and had diarrhoea.

‘Its owner did have coronavirus, both were tested and proven to have a positive result, but they have both since recovered. ‘There is some concern and that is something very much that the veterinary profession will be watching, but it all boils down really to just good hygiene, and don’t touch other people’s pets at this time.’
