He shared the image above and captioned it, ” All the hundreds of billions of dollars spent on DEFENCE, has actually been spent on destroying the other, not protecting humanity or the planet. It is obvious that the world is unprepared to defend itself from a real enemy!! It is clear that all you can do as DEFENCE is to blow up black and brown people and destroy the environment. #getthesax. ”It feels like my body is on fire’ – Recovering Coronavirus patient reveals what she passes through

A British woman battling coronavirus has explained how her body feels as she fights the deadly virus that has swept through the world, killing thousands.

46 year old Mandy Charlton who is a mother of three and a photographer, was admitted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle on Friday evening with a temperature of more than 38 degrees celsius and says it felt like she ‘had swallowed glass’ and her whole body was on fire

According to Mandy she sleeps 20 hours a day and has been taking paracetamol to recover, and she usually wakes up feeling drenched and tired.

Mandy, from Newcastle, said to Metro UK on Thursday: ‘I know my temperature was once 37.9 and once over 39. I have a weird dry cough which hurts.

‘My body has felt like it has been on fire, waking up drenched, horrible. I’ve had flu before but this was something else. ‘When it came to the hospital saying I was well enough to go home and self-isolate, I asked how I would get home.

‘They said I could wait nine hours whilst they tried to get some isolation transport or I could ask a friend. ‘I had a panic attack at that point, thankful for my best friend who risked her own health to get me home. ‘I don’t for one moment blame the doctors or the nurses, I wholly place the blame on the government.’

‘One of the nurses said I was lucky to be admitted when I was.

‘At the moment they’re coping, but in a few weeks they won’t be. The porters weren’t even given masks. ‘I asked one of them and he said the day before they’d had to wear plastic visors but then on that day, Friday, they’d been told they would be fine without any protection. ‘The paramedics were having to borrow masks and aprons as they’d run out.’

“Coronavirus, wherever you came from, I command you to be ceased’ – Father Mbaka releases ‘priestly annointing’ for Coronavirus pandemic

Speaking at a program at the Enugu Adoration ground during a special prayer for disease on Thursday, the cleric said : “To those who believe in God, all things are possible. No matter how it has defied people, it cannot defy God.

“Coronavirus, wherever you came from, be it any name you answer- caterpillar virus, Venza virus, corolla virus, I command you to be ceased, in the Holy Ghost fire! “Children of God, when you go home, circulate the message that a man of God known as Fr. Coronavirus: ”Fear not, We are on top of the situation” – President Buhari tells Nigerians.

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has addressed the nation via social media on the state of the CoronaVirus Pandemic.

According to a statement signed by the President’s spokesman for media and publicity, Garba Shehu, the president assured Nigerians that the Government is on top of the situation.

The statement reads in full ;

Nigeria, like every other country around the world, is dealing with the unexpected and unprecedented impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Muhammadu Buhari administration has taken some steps to mitigate the effects on the Nigerian people.

To prevent the spread of cases imported into Nigeria, the President has already ordered the restrictions of travel from 13 countries, each with more than 1,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19. Government has also suspended visas issued to nationals of these countries. The restriction will take effect from March 20 and will remain until further notice. While Nigeria delights in welcoming the world, the safety and protection of our citizens and land must take priority.

The various agencies of government including Media owned by the government have embarked on vigorous campaigns promoting hygiene measures. There are, currently, very stringent regimes of checks at the points of air and sea entry into the country. The effort Nigeria is making as is well known, has already received the commendation of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The Presidency wishes to assure Nigerians that government is on top of the situation. There is no cause for panic. So far measures put in place are working efficiently. What this country is doing has been recommended as a template.

The President trusts the relevant Ministers in his cabinet and the officials of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), who are providing him with constant updates and professional counsel. These officials have a track record of competence.

The President instructed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to reduce the pump price of fuel. The Covid-19 pandemic has led to a crash in the global price of crude oil, and the President decided that every Nigerian should benefit from this.

Subsequently, the NNPC announced a 20 naira deduction, and the pump price of fuel has now been reduced from 145 naira per litre to 125 naira per litre.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday announced a credit relief of N1.1Trillion Naira to businesses affected by the pandemic. The Bank has also established a facility for household, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and announced a reduction of interest rates for loans from 9% to 5%.

We do not want to create panic. But we will continue to update the Nigerian public with relevant information. We plead with every Nigerian to cooperate with the government in the fight against Covid-19 and obey all instructions from the NCDC. We have a high level Presidential Coordination Committee chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). This body should be allowed to carry out its duties.

We also plead with Nigerians not to see this most peculiar of times as one to be politicised or seen as an opportunity to regurgitate grudges against the government or the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). North, South, East, and West – all Nigerians must unite to fight this plague, irrespective of religious or ideological affiliation.

In this regard, populist advocacies such as the one accusing the President of “complacency” simply because he has not made a television address by ranking members of our respected parliament are cheap and sensational. These are not the times for populism and cheap politics.

President Buhari thanks all those at the forefront of the fight against the deadly disease.

Muslims are naturally immune to coronavirus – Islamic scholar says as he asks the authorities not to stop Mosque prayers amid coronavirus crisis

Islamic scholar says

An Islamic Scholar, Dr. Abubakr Imam Aliagan, has asked the President Muhammadu Buhari government, the Sultanate Council and Muslim authorities, not to shut down mosques in Nigeria over the coronavirus crisis.

Aliagan, a Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Ilorin said on Wednesday that Muslims are immune to the coronavirus, and as such, Mosque prayers should not be banned over fear of worshippers contacting the deadly virus.

He said this while reacting to the suspension of congregational prayers at Saudi Arabia.

Saudi had on Tuesday stopped the performance of the customary five daily prayers and the weekly Jumuat prayer at other worship centres excluding the two holy mosques in Makkah and Madina.

Aliagan told PRNigeria that Nigerian Muslim males should be allowed to observe their compulsory prayers in mosques.

He claimed that Muslims have already been endowed with a natural immune system to fight coronavirus.

Aliagan stated that health officials advise people to wash their hands which Muslims do five times daily before observing their obligatory prayers.

He added that Muslim women already cover themselves and, as such, are safe.

He said: “Again, our sisters are always adorned in Hijab, some even use Niqab and gloves. So, we the Muslims already have a potent immune system against coronavirus. That is to say that we don’t have any problem.

“Even in France, I learnt that those that are completely free from contacting coronavirus are Muslim ladies and women who cover their face, use hand gloves and don’t shake hands with people.

The cleric, who is also an Imam of a Jumuat (congregation) Mosque, noted that the action of the Saudi Government is in line with Islamic teachings on preventing the spread of an epidemic in any area.

He said the Holy Prophet specifically mentioned that if there is an epidemic at a certain location, people should not go close to that danger area or place.

“While those that are living there should not come out until the epidemic is wiped out. The prophet, by implication is saying we should avoid the spread of epidemics with necessary precautionary steps.”

Aliagan argued that the Saudi authorities’ directive is only aimed at forestalling the wildfire spread of the disease.

He said: “I don’t think the Muslim Ummah and its authorities in Nigeria should toe the line of Saudi by banning congregational prayers in mosques.

“The situation in our country is quite different from what we have in the Arab world or even at some western countries. The killer scourge easily ravages their immune system and body. However, I am still saying we should go along with what the Prophet counselled.

“Which is that we should not take epidemics or any killer disease for granted. We should take all necessary precautions. Any advice from health officials should strongly be adhered to and abided by.”

UPDATED: FDA says it has not approved Chloroquine for Covid-19 use, contradicting Trump’s statement

US approves

UPDATED: The FDA says it has not approved Chloroquine for Covid-19 use, contradicting the President Trump’s statement.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Stephen Hahn addressed the ongoing work of the agency in terms of its work on potential treatments and vaccines for the COVID-19 coronavirus currently spreading globally.

Despite a claim early in Thursday’s White House briefing on the pandemic by President Donald Trump that one proposed treatment, anti-malarial chloroquine, had already been approved by the FDA for COVID-19 treatment, Hahn said that in fact the agency is currently looking at widespread clinical trials of the drug, but it is not yet approved for that use.

“In the short term, we’re looking at drugs that are already approved for other indications,” Dr. Hahn said. “Many Americans have read studies and heard media reports about this drug chloroquine, which is an anti-malarial drug. It’s already approved, as the president said, for the treatment of malaria [Trump had not said this, but had instead said it was now approved for COVID-19] as well as an arthritis condition. That’s a drug that the president has directed us to take a closer look at, as to whether an expanded use approach to that could be done to actually see if that benefits patients. And again, we want to do that in the setting of a clinical trial, a large pragmatic clinical trial to actually gather that information and answer the question that needs to be answered.”

The United States of America have approved the use of Anti-Malaria Drug, Chloroquine as treatment against CoronaVirus, President Trump said on Thursday.

The president told reporters;

“We’re going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately, and that’s where the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has been so great,”

“They’ve gone through the approval process — it’s been approved. They took it down from many, many months to immediate. So we’re going to be able to make that drug available by prescription.”

However, the FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn later indicated that, while the drug has not yet been formally approved, access to it was being expanded so that authorities could gather more data.

This is known as “compassionate use.”

“If there is an experimental drug that is potentially available, a doctor could ask for that drug to be used in a patient. We have criteria for that and very speedy approval for that,” said Hahn.

Police Arrest Three Men Who Allegedly Specialize In Trailing And Robbing Bank Customers In Cross River State

Men of Cross River State Police Command have arrested three suspected bank robbers who allegedly specialise in trailing and robbing bank customers after they make withdrawals.

The suspects were arrested on Wednesday, March 18 when they attempted to rob a Bank customer on Calabar Road.

According to report, the victim raised alarm which drew the attention of the public and the suspects were eventually arrested by the police.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Nkereuwem Akpan while briefing journalists disclosed that operatives of the Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad of the command arrested the suspects.

He added that they have confessed to the crime.

While narrating how they operate, Akpan revealed that the men stay close to banks, scoping people going in to carry out transactions or to use the ATM. After the unsuspecting customer is done withdrawing money from the ATM, the men will trail the customer and rob them.

One of the suspects identified as Ifeanyi Ebama said he was arrested after breaking the glass of his victim’s car in an attempt to steal the money the victim wrapped in a nylon bag.

However, the victim screamed and he was arrested alongside his accomplices who were waiting for him in their getaway car.

The command recovered from the suspects a Toyota Sienna vehicle and a rod used in opening car doors and breaking glasses.

Akpan said the suspects will be charged to court once investigation is concluded.

Italian who brought coronavirus to Nigeria now negative – Lagos

The Italian who imported coronavirus to Nigeria has tested negative for the virus.

The man, who flew into Nigeria from Milan, Italy, on February 24, had been receiving treatment at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos.

At a press briefing on Thursday, Akin Abayomi, commissioner for health, said the 44-year-old Italian tested negative for the virus.

He said another test would be conducted and if he also tests negative, the patient would be discharged.

“The index case is now negative. The only reason he is still with us is because he needs two negative tests but he is ready and anxious to go,” he said.

When he arrived in Nigeria, the Italian reportedly lodged at a hotel close to Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, before moving to Lafarge Africa Plc, Ewekoro in Ogun state, the next day.

He fell sick on the third day of his stay in the country and tested positive for the disease two days after.

Subsequently, 39 people who had contact with him were quarantined but one of them tested positive for the disease while others were discharged.

But the Nigerian who contracted the disease later recovered. There are currently nine active coronavirus cases in the country while the federal government has taken many measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

The National Sports Festival, scheduled for Edo state was cancelled, all orientation camps of the National Youth Service Corps across the country were shut while travel ban was imposed on 13 high-risk countries, including China, the UK and the US.

Some state governments also banned public officials from foreign trips while advising Nigerians to cancel all travels abroad, especially to high-risk countries.

Sharing on social media, Kate Henshaw called on authorities to give people detailed information. According to her, this would enable people to prepare for the days ahead.

She wrote: “I strongly believe we need a state of the nation address. We need detailed information 4rm the relevant authorities as to the level of preparedness for the days ahead. I just left a major supermarket in Lekki and the buying of stuff is astronomical. Nigerians are worried!!”

This is coming after the Lagos State Ministry of Health revealed that four new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Health, Professor Akin Abayomi on Thursday.

“I am a child of God,” and other reasons some Nigerians are not taking coronavirus seriously

Even though Nigeria has confirmed twelve positive cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) within its borders, some Nigerians are not concerned about being infected by the pandemic sweeping the world.

In a poll conducted by NOI Polls and published on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, 26% of respondents believe they are immune to the virus for one reason or the other.

Of the 26%, almost half (40%) believe they’re immune because of their religious belief (“I am a child of God”), while 30% believe that they have strong genes to repel the virus.

17% of this group hold the widely-debunked belief that Nigeria’s weather is too hot for the virus to survive, while another 8% believe that the strong herbs they consume is enough to prevent infection.

The remaining 5% hold another widely-debunked belief that the virus does not affect Africans, so they’re safe.

The poll was conducted in the week commencing March 9, 2020, when Nigeria still had two confirmed cases.

According to NOI Polls, the poll involved telephone interviews of a proportionate nationwide sample of 1,000 randomly selected phone-owning Nigerians aged 18 years and above, representing the six geo-political regions and 36 states and the FCT.

“Interviews were conducted in 5 languages – Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Pidgin English and English.

“With this sample size and selection, we are 95% confident that the results obtained are statistically precise within a margin of error of plus or minus 4.65%,” the organisation noted.

The poll revealed that a vast proportion of Nigerians (84%) are aware of COVID-19 and this cuts across gender, geographical location and age-group with at least 73% representation.

While 63% of respondents disclosed that they are concerned that they may contract the virus, the poll revealed that 50% of Nigerians do not have information on preventive measure against the virus.

NOI Polls also noted that a vast majority of Nigerians (97%) disclosed that they would be willing to report and be tested (97%) if they show any sign of COVID-19, as well as willing to be quarantined (97%) if they are at risk of spreading the virus disease.

Nigeria currently has 7 confirmed cases in total, all of them with a history of travel from Italy, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Another person that previously tested positive last week later tested negative and was discharged days later. No deaths have been recorded in the country.

Since coronavirus was first detected in Wuhan, China in December, over 200,000 people have been infected, and at least 8,000 killed around the world. More than 82,000 people have also recovered from the virus.

Nollywood movies bind people in the bondage of sin, immoralities and violence – Pastor Mike Bamiloye.

Nigerian Filmmaker and Evangelist, Mike Bamiloye has yet again spoken out against secular movies in his most recent post on his Instagram page.

In the post, Bamiloye opined that Christian movies and Nollywood have totally different motives, missions and Visions thus one can’t mix them.

Sharing a quote from a certain Pastor Bisi Adewale, he wrote ;

“Christian movies and Nollywood have totally different motives, missions and Visions. You cant mix them, it is like Basketball and football they are all balls but you know it is not isolation when you dont allow a basket baller to be your defender because he is tall and strong. Nollywood are entertainers, Christian Movies are to win souls, entertainers can’t win souls because their souls need to be Won first.

It is not about isolation it is about using those God has prepared to do His work. We are not talking about impact here, we are talking about Gospel, evangelism, we are talking about getting people back to their maker, their Lord. Nollywood celebrities cant do that, only already blood washed Ministers on the screen can do that. If your motive is to shoot movies that make people laugh and sexier, Nollywood will do the Job. But our motive are souls, then dont ever think of bringing them into Christian movies. They tried it before it failed, it wont work forever because God will defend His name.

The Church made that mistakes before bringing Comedian on the Pulpit, I think they’ve come to their senses now.”
