Veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, has once again spoken against men ‘bending the knee’ to propose to a girl.

Yabaleftonline recalls that in January, a video of the actor speaking in Igbo and condemning the act of men kneeling to propose to their girlfriends went viral.

The actor was spotted recently and was asked to speak on wedding proposals, and again, he vehemently kicked against men going down on their knees to propose.

According to him, any man who does that is not “just an idiot but a compound buffon.

Any young man who gets down on his knees to propose to a girl is not just an idiot, he is a bloody fool, a compound buffoon. We try to copy white people.

I believe in the sancrosanctity of our culture, the essence and the core of our culture. The white man knees down to propose to a girl. You know what it means, the girl takes over the family. This is why whenever you disagree with a wife oversea, you are kicked out and your wife takes the house.

Young men who should be in charge of their destinies hand it over to women. That makes you all fools.”

When informed that it is love that makes men go down on their knees to propose, Edochie said

”I have lived with my wife for 51 years, nobody has said stop beating this woman.

Knee down before your wife, I will sympathize with you when she takes over the home” he said

Maryam Sanda appeals her death sentence

Maryam Sanda appeals

Maryam Sanda has filed an appeal against the death sentence she was handed by a Federal High Court in Abuja which found her guilty of killing her husband, Bilyaminu Bello.

The convict asked the Court of Appeal in Abuja to set aside the verdict and acquit her, on grounds of Justice Yusuf Halilu who handed her the death sentence being “tainted by bias and prejudices.”

Maryam alleged she wasn’t given a fair hearing and was convicted on circumstantial evidence by the trial judge who reportedly failed to rule on her preliminary objection, challenging the charge preferred against her.

She backed her claim by pointing out the evidence of witnesses, lack of confessional statement, absence of murder weapon, lack of corroboration of evidence by two or more witnesses and lack of autopsy report to determine the true cause of her husband’s death.

She said in her application;

“The honourable trial judge erred in law when having taken arguments on the appellant’s preliminary objection to the validity of the charge on the 19th of March, 2018 failed to rule on it at the conclusion of the trial or at any other time.

“The trial judge exhibited bias against the defendant in not ruling one way or the other on the said motion challenging his jurisdiction to entertain the charge and therefore fundamentally breached the right to a fair hearing of the defendant.”

Maryam added that the trial judge erred and misdirected himself by usurping the role of the police when he assumed the duty of an Investigating Police Officer (IPO) as contained in Page 76 of his judgment.

She added;

“The circumstantial evidence which the trial court relied upon in its application of the last seen doctrine does not lead to the conclusion that the defendant is responsible for the death of the deceased.”

No date has been fixed for hearing in the matter.

Symply Tacha may have responded to Mercy Eke after the latter threw shade at her.

Recall Mercy, during a live session on her Instagram page, had thrown shade to Tacha saying, “All her haters are in Brekete Kingdom, as there are no haters in London, that she currently is in.”

It is worthy to note that Tacha’s popular slogan is “We pin, We full ground, We Brekete”

Now, in what seem like a reply to Mercy, Tacha in a new video on her page said “You all know I am all about my money… Like! I don’t be in places for FREE. I don’t do stuff to look good in public.”

Nigerian Lady allegedly kills herself and her child after baby daddy denied being the father of her baby in Delta state

A young lady and her little child have died on Sunday in Bomadi, a creek town in Delta State, after allegedly drinking a substance suspected to be Sniper.

According to Nigerian Tribune, the woman identified as Miss Epigha Peace Koboye (22), took her life after the father of the child denied his paternity.

It was gathered that before her death, the lady revealed the reason behind her shocking act saying that the father of her child denied the paternity of the child.

Residents of the area where the incident occurred trooped to the Bomadi General Hospital to ascertain the authenticity of the report, just as some people blamed her for the ‘silly’ decision.

No medical personnel was willing to comment on the incident when the Tribune Online made enquires on Monday evening.

Kenyan City pastor and motivational speaker, Robert Burale, has spoken out against infidelity in relationships.

During his recent appearance on ‘Mancave Discussion’ on Switch TV, the pastor noted that women are their own worst enemies, and added that if their spouses are unfaithful they should suspect their closest friends.

“I blame both men and women because the man is cheating with another woman. Women have become their own worst enemies. Chances are very high that if your man is cheating on you look at your four closest friends.

“I’ll tell you that without fear of contradiction or batting an eyelid. The person who is the most dangerous is the one you trust. It is the one you run to and say these are the issues I’m going through. She is the one who befriends you to cover up what she is doing with your husband. Not always but in most cases yes,”

He also addressed emotional cheating after a woman complained that her husband doesn’t open up to her.

“Emotional cheating is one of the most powerful things. Let me tell every woman today, when your man finds comfort in another woman even if they haven’t slept together, that’s so powerful. Negatively so.”

“For someone to say he loves and respects me that’s why he keeps it away from me, the fact that a man cheats on you shows he does not love and respect you. It comes a time when you have to put your foot down.

“In this day and age there are diseases and the worst thing is you walking with your husband or wife and the people who are sleeping with you are there saying you look good together. Protect your home because the moment you introduce two or three people that becomes a coalition government,” Burale added.

The popular singer added that what is important is being where God wants us to be.

The singer stressed that everybody’s provision is normally tied to their divine location and placement, adding that if the placement is Canada, then great.

He concluded by saying it is important to be where God wants you to be and not just following the trend.

Speaking in another tweet, he said if God says leave Nigeria, then staying back would amount to disobedience.

Why I didn’t sign any artiste to my record label – 9ice reveals

Nigerian singer, 9ice, says he never signed any artiste to his record label because of the disagreements that come with record deals.

9ice, who doubles as the CEO of House of Ancestors, a label imprint he founded in 2008, disclosed this while speaking on his forthcoming projects and record strategies with Hip TV.

The 40-year-old singer, who once signed with Edge Records, a Lagos-based imprint, said he’ll rather engage talented singers, promote their brands in projects, and let them leave on their call.

According to him, signing an artiste comes with challenges, including realities on investment returns, that could leave the label and the artiste locking horns when the latter wants out.

“When veterans take up new artistes, there’s always issues like arguments which cause the artiste to leave, willingly or unwillingly. That’s the reason why I never officially signed any artist,” 9ice said.

“What I did with them was, ‘I have a label, come under this platform. If you have a song that I feel is good enough, I ‘ll support you, we’ll shoot the video and get it promoted.’ I mean, do your thing!

“When you feel you’re ripe enough to stand alone, I let you go. Signing artistes take a lot. They can claim their own right saying, ‘I’ve been under this label for long and they ‘re doing nothing for me.’

“But, in the end, both parties have their wrongs. The record label will tell you something like, ‘We’ve invested N40 million and haven’t even gotten back N30 million and he said he wants to go.’

“And the artsiete would defend himself saying ‘You invested 40 million but we signed two years. Whether you make your N40 million or not, it’s my time to go.’ So, both parties have their rights.

“So, to avoid these issues, I think it’s better one gets investors and record companies on a larger scale, that can invest money and spread it in the long term, so it won’t be just from the music scales.

“Maybe also merchandise and all that but, if you don’t have enough funds, you can’t do all these. If you’re not making money from the record sales, you can tap into merchandise and other areas.”

SARS officers reportedly shoot two traders while pursuing suspected yahoo boys in Ogun (Video)

Two petty traders were rushed to the hospital in Abeokuta, Ogun state today February 20th after being hit by stray bullets from gunshots fired by SARS officers.

According to reports, the traders who carry out their trade at the Olomore Market were in their shops when operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force ran into the market. The SARS operatives were reportedly engaging an internet fraudster also known as Yahoo boy, in a hot chase when they openned fire in the market.

Stray bullets from the SARS officers’ gunshots hit the two pepper sellers. One of the victims was shot in the head and the other was shot in the leg. They are currently being treated in a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile other traders took to the street to protest the avoidable attack.

A video of the popular singer went viral yesterday after a Nigerian man criticized her for dancing in a ”worldly manner”. (Read Here)

Lady arrested while attempting to kidnap her bestie’s mother

The Police in Nasarawa State have apprehended a woman, Paulina Santos, of Azuba community in Lafia, who was allegedly looking for kidnappers to abduct the mother of her wealthy friend.

The commissioner of police said the woman had contacted someone to help her organise a gang that would kidnap the mother of her bosom friend.

Lawrence “Larry” Tesler, the icon credited for his innovation that allows you cut, copy, and paste texts, has died at the age of 74.

He died on Monday, February 17. His death was announced on Twitter on Wednesday, February 19, by Xerox, where he spent part of his career.

Xerox tweeted. “The inventor of cut/copy & paste, find & replace, and more, was former Xerox researcher Larry Tesler. Your workday is easier thanks to his revolutionary ideas.”

Larry Tesler, the computer scientist behind cut, copy and paste, dies aged 74

Mr Tesler was born in the Bronx, New York, in 1945, and studied at Stanford University in California. Tesler specialised in human-computer interaction, employing his skills at Amazon, Apple, Yahoo, and the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC).

The icon of early computing started working in Silicon Valley in the early 1960s, at a time when computers were inaccessible to the vast majority of people. After graduating, he specialised in user interface design.

He started at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), before Steve Jobs poached him for Apple, where he spent 17 years and rose to chief scientist. He went on to establish an education startup and did stints in user-experience technology at Amazon and Yahoo.

Thanks to his innovations – including the “cut”, “copy” and “paste” commands – the personal computer became simple to learn and use.

“Tesler created the idea of ‘cut, copy, & paste’ and combined computer science training with a counterculture vision that computers should be for everyone,” the Computer History Museum in Silicon Valley tweeted on Wednesday while paying tribute to him.

Grammy Nominee and African Giant, Burna Boy has revealed the details of his last conversation with American rapper, Pop Smoke few days ago before he was shot dead yesterday.

Pop Smoke whose real name Bashar Jackson, was at a rented home in Hollywood, Los Angeles, when two men wearing hoodies and masks entered the house and fired multiple shots. He was later rushed to the nearest hospital where he was pronounced dead. (Read Here)

30-Year-Old Mother Of 12 Gives Birth To Quadruplets At Home In Kaduna (Photo)

A 30-year-old woman, Zainab Abu of Makwalla community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State has made news headlines after she gave birth to a set of quadruplets in the village without going for any antenatal care or medical check-up.

According to the woman, who is already a mother of 12, lack of facilities and the distance barrier coupled with inadequate transportation facilities in the village culminated to her inability to attend hospital throughout her pregnancy period.

She said, “l have been giving birth to multiple number of twins in the village without going for any medical diagnosis, or see a doctor. This time around wasn’t an exception when l gave birth to these children without attending any hospital because of the challenges we are going through in the village.”

Zainab further confessed that throughout her life as a housewife, she has never attended any antenatal or has been counseled on child spacing due to the distance of their village to any available medical centre nearest to their residence.

She explained that she has been giving birth to multiple of twins, stressing that this is the first time she has given birth to quadruplets.

Zainab explained, “I have gone through serious pains, stress, and indeed it’s not really easy giving birth to four kids at a time in the village without any modern medical support. I thank God for helping me to have given birth to these children safely.

“I always used traditional medicine and other drugs from local drugs vendors in the village whenever l felt pains in my body.

“I also chose to give birth in the village for fear of using the canoe to cross the river and thereafter use motorcycle for a long distance before getting any modern medical facility. The pain involved and the fear of the unknown always make some of us in the village to take the risk of giving birth in the village.”

Lagos state Police PRO, Dolapo Badmos, has revealed that Police officers have no right to check an individual’s mobile phone for no reason.

In a recent interview with LIB, Dolapo Badmos when asked the difference between stop and search and checking people’s phone which is right and which is wrong stated that;

‘Your phone is private, it’s your private property because people do alot of private stuffs on their mobile phones so it’s wrong. Police officers have no right to do that except there is a reasonable ground to do so’.

A doctor with the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Owerri is in critical condition after he was allegedly brutally attacked by his wife on Tuesday night after a quarrel.

According to the victim’s friend, Jones, the doctor’s wife cut off his nose, upper teeth, tip of tongue, lower gums and after the assault, she called his mother to come carry him.

“A doctor in my center (fmc) Owerri was assaulted by his wife last night after a quarrel. The woman cut off his nose,upper teeth,tip of his tongue and part of his lower gums. She then called the guy’s mom to come and carry her son’s corpse.” said Jones.

“Luckily for the doctor, he was rushed to the hospital last night and we stabilized him.
He is conscious, but can not talk since he’s on tracheostomy. Now I’m scared of this marriage thing. My uni friend and personal physician just sent me this”?

Man kidnaps ‘racist woman’ and forces her to watch movie about slavery

A 52-year-old man identified as Robert Lee Noye has been arrested by the police in Cedar Rapids, Iowa after reportedly kidnapping a woman he accused of being a “racist” and forcing her to watch “Roots” (a 9-hour miniseries on slavery).

Noye who is popularly known as “the black guy in town”, is facing charges of harassment and false imprisonment was arrested on Monday February 17, after policemen were sent to the area for an open-line 911 call “with lots of screaming”.

The 37-year-old woman and her 12-year-old daughter were found inside the house crying, after the intoxicated man answered the door when the police arrived.

Recounting her ordeal, the lady told the police that Noye assaulted her all night and made her sit with him to watch the miniseries “Roots,” based on Alex Haley’s bestselling book “Roots: The Saga of an American Family,” which drew attention to the brutality of slavery. The miniseries aired on ABC in 1977 and won a host of awards, including multiple Emmys and a Peabody.

She further revealed that when she tried to move, the man told her to remain seated. The lady who was eventually able to call 911 and leave the line open, also accused Noye of threatening to kill her and spreading her body parts across Interstate 380 on the way to Chicago.

Noye was arrested and taken to the Linn County Jail, but he was not listed as an inmate as of Tuesday evening.

Mother of 22-year-old man identified as Daibo Toju Davies who plunged into the lagoon from the Third Mainland bridge in Lagos state last weekend, says he was looking forward to his Masters programme in Canada before this unfortunate incident.

In an interview with Channels TV, the devasted mum said her son had just graduated from the Lagos State University, department of Quantity Surveyor. She said he never had any history of depression or drug abuse.

She appealed to the Lagos state government to find her son alive or dead.

Toju jumped into the Lagoon after asking the driver of an Uber ride he was in to stop.

Gospel singer, Tope Alabi responds after being criticized over her ‘worldly’ dance step (video)

Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Tope Alabi has reacted to being criticized following her “worldly dance” in a video making the rounds on social media.

Some social media users who called out the gospel singer, said she is deviating from who she was 10 years ago.

A Facebook user, Adeniji Aderogba who shared the clip, wrote;

This is Evangelist Tope Alabi oo.. What is this world turns to for God sake. The Tope Alabi I knew 10 years ago is totally different from this one.
Hmmmm Ogun Esu gbe ‘bon o!

However, Tope Alabi who was a guest on TVC’s “Wakeup Nigeria”, stated that she needed that dance at that time. According to the gospel singer, she was dancing at her father’s burial and people with “spiritual eyes” will understand its meaning.

Nigerian Singer and DMW Boss, Davido took to his twitter page on Wednesday evening to preach forgiveness and letting go of grudges.

The Father of three also urged his fans to show more kindness and not take anything for granted because tomorrow is not promised.

His tweet reads ;

Popular Actress, Rita Dominic has a word or two for all those who think she’s not balling because she doesn’t post about designer labels and holiday trips on her social media pages.

In a post on her Instastories, the actress wondered when social media became the yardstick for determining who is wealthy and who is not.

According to the screen diva, expecting someone to post a materialistic lifestyle on social media before concluding that the person is doing well in life is simply a poverty mentality.

Her post reads ;

So social media has now become the yardstick to measure wealth ? LOL.

Some people think cos you don’t post certain things like Designer Labels, Holidays, how much you have ETC on yor page means you are not balling ?

Wow!! Poverty Mentality much.

Happiness or in your words balling means different things to different people.

This life isn’t that serious, be happy you are alive and healthy and foremost
