Speaking in a recent interview with Elle Canada, the 82-year-old veteran opened up about the pressures of keeping up appearances in Hollywood and vowed never get plastic surgery again.
“I can’t pretend that I’m not vain, but there isn’t going to be any more plastic surgery — I’m not going to cut myself up anymore,” she revealed. “I have to work every day to be self-accepting; it doesn’t come easy to me.”
“I try to make it very clear that it has been a long and continuing struggle for me,” she explained. “I post pictures of me looking haggard — and once with my tooth out!”
“This is a fake tooth,” she continued, pointing out an incisor to the magazine. “It came out in a restaurant in Portugal, and I posted it.”
The Oscar winner also explained why she chose to come clean about her plastic surgery regrets.
“I knew that if I really told the truth, it would be universal,” she said. “All these issues are universal among women: ‘I’m not good enough; I have to please, starting with Daddy; I’m not pretty enough; I’m not thin enough; I’m not smart enough.’”
“Showing up is something you have to learn — although there are certain emotional disabilities you pick up when you are young that you can’t entirely undo,” she shared. “I have psychic scars that I will never be able to give up. You learn to manage them. You learn to banish them to the corner and put a dunce cap on them and forbid them to come out.”
“I grew up at a time when the thinking was that women were like cats, competing with each other, knocking each other down,” she continued. “But, in fact, there is no limit to what we can accomplish if we work together.”
Fonda added that she now surrounds herself with women who support one another.
“The people who tend to really show up for me — and whom I show up for — are my women friends,” she said. “I grew up in the ’50s, and on top of that my mother killed herself, so I totally identified with men, which meant rugged individualism, so it was very hard for me to overcome that.”

Let’s take a quick stroll down TECNO’s Valentine memory lane. We will start from 2018 to 2020 and not go too far.
For 2018 Valentine’s Day, TECNO called for entries from Nigerians to suggest who they would love to give a lovely, romantic surprise and why. Three entries were randomly picked, and here is how it played out;
TECNO teamed up with these three people to plan when and where will be perfect for their loved ones to be surprised on Valentine’s Day.
These loved ones were all at very different locations, but TECNO meticulously reached all three of them and serenaded them with lovely saxophone renditions.
TECNO also went along with gift bags and bottles of wine. We can’t even begin to describe how pleasantly surprised they all were. All thanks to TECNO, they will never forget the Valentine’s Day of 2018.
The year after, TECNO raised the bar several notches higher. Four couples were given a weekend romantic getaway. They were all lodged at the Radisson Hotel and through the weekend, they had the best experience of their lives.
They got a celebrity visit from Kunle Afolayan who brought with him his Kembe Trousers from his clothing line and gave to all 4 couples.
They went to watch a romantic movie from the VIP section of IMAX cinema Lekki.
Then they went on a boat cruise, played games and had lots to eat and drink. TECNO forged a channel for these couples to fall deeper in love with each other and that happened right in front of our faces.
For the Valentine’s Day of 2020, TECNO shattered the glass ceiling. You would naturally think that their Valentine’s Day track record was hard to top, but they not only topped it, things were also seamlessly taken to a new high.
TECNO focused on intending couples with a fixed wedding date who were asked to share their love story on the smartphone brand’s social media platforms. The aim was to sponsor a lucky couple’s wedding reception to the tune of 1.5 Million Naira.
Rather than just pick a winner straight off social media, TECNO chose 4 couples, lodged them in Radisson Hotel, and gave them different romantic experiences that pasted bright and permanent smiles on their faces for days.
They were transported to a Thai restaurant and to the cinemas with a lovely luxurious bus, courtesy Coscharis Motors.
The Spokes Person of Coscharis Motors, Mr. Abiona Babarinde, paid the couples a visit while they were having lunch on their first day around, and even gave them snippets of advice on the conjugal journey they are all about to embark on.
To decide who the winning couple will be, they had a session of games where the couples had so much fun, they literally forgot that they were playing for 1.5 Million Naira.
At the end, Tobi Odebode and Patrick Nwafor won by the points they amassed from the games, and deservedly so! These guys know each other so well.
At this point, a few things are clear; TECNO never does anything shabbily.
TECNO is big on grand gestures, and this year they went even grander. TECNO loves and appreciates their fans and would use every chance they get to prove it in as many ways as they can.
The Supreme Court has sacked the governor-elect of Bayelsa State, David Lyon, of APC and his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo.
The five-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Mary Peter-Odili in its ruling delivered today Thursday February 13th, annuled the election on grounds that the deputy governor-elect, Degi-Eremieoyo, ran for the election with forged certificates.
The court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to withdraw the certificate of Return issued to the All Progressives Congress’ candidates as the winners of the November 16th 2019 governorship election in the state and issue fresh certificates to the candidates of the PDP, Douye Diri who reportedly scored the next highest number of votes during the election.
This judgement comes barely a month after the Supreme court annulled the election of PDP’s Emeka Ihedioha in Imo state and instated Hope Uzodinma of the APC.
A church in Surulere, Lagos, organized a deliverance service for one month to cast out “The Marlian Spirit.”
A banner put up by The HOT Church in Surulere, Lagos, revealed that the deliverance service will hold every Sunday in the month of February.
The service is to tackle the “brand new virus” known as “the Marlian spirit.”
The banner also promised to provide solutions for people already possessed by the Marlian spirit.
The banner reads:
Are you a Marlian?
Here is:
what you must know How you must respond How to be free
Describing the Marlian spirit, the Church added on the banner: “It’s sweeping through the land, it’s creeping into our colleges and homes, it’s turning daughters against mothers and sons against fathers. Millions are hooked to this poison.”
This is not the first time men of God are demonizing Naira Marley and his fans, known as Marlians. Apostle Chris Omashola recently said God revealed to him that Naira Marley is a demon sent to derail the destiny of Nigerian youths.
Also, earlier this year, parents narrated how female secondary school students were suspended for allegedly being members of a Marlian cult in school.
