Why I dumped TeeBillz – Tacha opens up, reveals how her ex-manager failed her

Tacha opens up

It is no news that BBNaija’s Tacha has sacked her manager, TeeBillz after three months of working together. But what people are curious about, is the real reasons behind the sack.

In a fresh interview with Sunday Scoop, the controversial BBNaija housemate, who signed a managerial deal with Billz Vizion, shortly after her disqualification from the reality show, opened up and spoke about her background, BBNaija house, her body odour issue, the alleged over used Benz and why she sacked her manager TeeBillz.

According to the reality star, Teebillz was too slow and did not match up to her expectations.

“When one signs up with a management, one would have expectations and targets. However, it’s one thing to have expectations and it’s another thing to have the expectations turn to reality.

Sadly, that didn’t happen, especially after the first month of being signed to a management. The drive I had and the drive they had didn’t match. I drew their attention to my concerns and also tried to manage the situation by being patient and hoping for a change. But, things got worse as time went on and after three months, I decided we should mutually disengage our business relationship for the sake of my brand.” She said.

Background

I recall making books for my imaginary school and gathering kids together to teach them.

As a child, I wanted to become a teacher, so I could impart knowledge to people.

Education

For my elementary and secondary education, I attended Alpha Comprehensive Training College in Obio Akpor, Rivers State. I then proceeded to study English at the Ignatuis Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

BBN

I was inspired to take part in Big Brother Naija (2019 edition) because of the platform (it offers). I have always wanted to be on the show; seeing how huge a platform it is and how people go in there with nothing and leave with opportunities. I wanted to make my brand global, so I decided to try it out.

Parents’ reaction

My parents fully supported and respected my decision.

Experience

I went through a lot; it was quite stressful and demanding– the crowd and anxiety before finally being selected.

I barely had favourites while in the house but I liked Sir Dee, Khafi, Isilomo and Omashola in the house and after the competition, I’ve got to meet and like a lot more ex-housemates.

Lessons

Some of the most important lessons I learnt while in the house were patience and tolerance. I learnt to coexist with a large number of people. Prior to the show, I had never lived, eaten or slept in a place with many other people. I never could tolerate sharing my privacy.

Attitude

I was not arrogant while in the house. I was just being myself but Nigerians are not people to be joked with. They turned my innocent bluntness to being saucy. I am just a naturally blunt person.

Disqualification

I don’t hold anyone responsible for my disqualification from the show; not Mercy or anyone else. I feel I was meant to be disqualified. That disqualification was fate and nobody’s fault.

Big Brother gave me a platform to showcase myself. I stayed in his house and ate his food. His house has rules and he’s never wrong. He did what he had to do.

I also don’t feel like Seyi betrayed me while we were in the house.

If I were to go for the competition again, I would, honestly, smile more, be more lively while minding my business and avoid fight traps.

I am doing well for myself and brand now. I am very visible and my family, the ‘titans’ make being visible easy for me.

Mercy

We are good and existing– that’s all there is to it.

Gratitude

I am a grateful person. I showed gratitude to everyone who supported me while in the house when I got out. I don’t know why the story about me being ungrateful made so much ‘buzz’. Maybe some people expected more; I don’t know.

However, I have learnt to compromise, keep my emotions in check and react less to critics.

Vlogging

The highlight of my vlogging career was the first time I had 100,000 views on YouTube and also when I got my YouTube page verified by Google for paid advertisements to be featured.

Sacrifice

Some of the biggest sacrifices I have made for my career include depriving myself of sleep and relinquishing my family time and privacy.

Advice

I would tell anyone aiming to go for BBN to be original. They should not change anything about themselves or act for the camera.

Qualities

I am hard working and I strive to succeed in whatever I set my mind to do.

Teebillz

When one signs up with a management, one would have expectations and targets.
But, things got worse as time went on and after three months, I decided we should mutually disengage our business relationship for the sake of my brand.

(As regards being intimate with Teebillz), people are always saying things and it won’t stop. I don’t know what they mean by that. If their intimacy means that he’s a good manager, then by all means, he is. If not, I’m lost.

No leave, no transfer

It is a self-generated slogan. It was something I brought up to cheer myself on my own for surviving so many nominations (in the house). I was up (for disqualification) basically every week and I kept getting saved. I was confident at some point that I wasn’t going anywhere till the last day, hence the slogan.

Fame

Fame has robbed me of my privacy. My life now seems like it’s in the open and everyone keeps their eyes on my business round the clock.

Benz

(As regards rumours that fans didn’t truly buy me a benz) I am not aware of such rumours and I don’t even comment on rumours. As for Titans, they are my family, not my fans. I love them and I am always grateful for their continuous love.

Role models

I have no role model but I admire Kim Kardarshian and Beyonce.

Relationship

He has to be God-fearing and selfless.

Body

The favourite part of my body is my nose. I love how it’s shaped and I touch it like literally every minutes.

Davido

I decided to tattoo Davido’s name on my cleavage simply because I wanted to. I don’t regret a thing about it.

Surgery

I have never done cosmetic surgery. It is all natural– all Tacha.

Body odour

I don’t see any reason to react to lies.

(As regards Zlatan doing a freestyle about my alleged body odour), I have nothing to tell him. Many people did one or two things with my name last year for different reasons. I hope it paid off for them.

Relaxation

I relax by being with my phone.

Fashion

I would describe my style as retro fashion.

Update: Boyfriend of LASU final year student murdered for ritual purposes, shares gory details of how he killed and dismembered her

LASU final LASU final year student murdered

Adeeko Owolabi, the 22-year-old man who alongside one Prophet Segun Phillips, allegedly killed his girlfriend, Miss Favour Daley-Oladele, a final year Theatre Arts student of Lagos State University (LASU), has shared gory details of how he carried out the dastard act.

Adeeko and Phillips as well as his mother, Ruth, today January 4th, took the police to the shallow grave where Favour’s body was buried after she was killed on December 8th. When the body was exhumed, the head, the two breasts, neck and part of the two legs of late Favour had been removed by the suspects.

Speaking to newsmen, Adeeko said he lured the deceased to Ikoyi-Ile where the prophet’s church is located and lodged her in a hotel before killing her.

After I lodged her in a guest house, I took her to a house which I claimed to be my uncle’s house, knowing fully well that the place was a ritualist’s den. I smashed a pestle on her head and she collapsed. The prophet thereafter used a knife and cutlass to dismember her body which was divided into three parts breasts, head and legs with other vital parts. We buried the remaining part of her body beside Prophet Philip’s Church called ‘Solution Salvation Chapel’, while some vital parts was given to my mother to eat for spiritual cleansing” he said

Also speaking to newsmen, the prophet who claimed to be the Senior clergyman at Solution Salvation Chapel, said the deceased was murdered to make money rituals for Owolabi. According to him, he used the church as a cover up

”I am not a prophet but a herbalist who engages in spiritual cleansing for whomsoever come to my place. I used the Solution Salvation Chapel as a cover up not to allow people know the true picture of who I am and what I do. Owolabi came to my place for money rituals and I told him that we need a complete human being for the rituals. And on December 8, he brought his girlfriend to my church and we killed her and as well dismembered her body part for money rituals” he said

On her part, Adeeko’s mother, said she was not aware that her son was involved in rituals.

Zimbabwean transgender woman calls out her Nigerian boyfriend as she ends their relationship

Tatelicious Karigambe-Sandberg, a Sweden-based Zimbabwean socialite and transgender woman has ended her two months relationship with her Nigerian lover, Kelvin Ehigie, after she discovered he “only wanted to marry her because he didn’t have Swedish papers.”

Tatelicious, who is also Human Rights activist for LGBTIQ and HIV & AIDS issues and one of the first Zimbabwean transgender women to go public, also revealed that she was alerted by a Ugandan lady in Stockholm, who Kelvin also allegedly played.

According to her, after she was informed of his Kevin’s impending plans, she searched his properties and found out that he had an expired LMA card and was ought to have left Sweden on the 31st of October 2019 for Italy because of a ‘Dublin Case.’

The heartbroken transgender woman also claimed that during the two months Kevin was with her, she spent almost 10 000 US dollars on him, as he kept on complaining that he was building a house for his family and his mother is disabled.

According to her, she has sent him packing but will continue searching for a loving Nigerian man because she still believes there is an honest Nigerian man who is ready to love her the way she is.

“Kelvin and I are no longer together. I have ended it today and I have sent him packing BY FORCE.

Just did my research and Kelvin was not in love with me,he wanted to use me to marry him because he didn’t have Swedish papers.

He lied to me that he had Swedish permanent residency but I had a feeling of wanting to go through his things when he was bathing and I found out that he had an expired LMA card where by he was told to go back to Italy because he have a Dublin Case.

I have attached the picture here .He was suppose to leave Sweden on the 31st of October 2019 going back to Italy.

I have also attached the picture of the lady from Uganda called Goolyx who lives in Stockholm who he played and she said its ok for me to post her picture.

I came to my senses when a Ugandan woman called Goolyx in Stockholm reached to me.

This woman stayed with Kelvin for 3 weeks and Kelvin played the love card on her and ended up stealing an ipad for the lady and running away.

So the woman told me to be just careful because Kelvin doesn’t love me but he’s after something .

He was given 3 months to leave Sweden by the immigration so he had decided to use me as his next target to fool and use to get papers.

He never stole from me but he just fooled me using the love card.

I will do a live video when I have healed so that the other lady from Uganda who was played by Kelvin can join me and tell you herself.

Ladies and Gentlemen if you see Kelvin run away because he’s very convincing.

I spend almost 10 000 US dollars on him in 2 months we where together telling me that he was building a house for his family and said his mother is disabled and she need special medication .

I did this out of love but little did I know that it was just a 419.

But that will not stop me looking for love and I will continue searching for a loving Nigerian man because I still believe that there is an honest Nigerian man who is ready to love me the way I am.

Kind Regard

Man nabbed after deceiving a widow and her two daughters into sleeping with him

A randy artisan identified as Monsuru Adesiyan a.k.a. Oba Idan told Olanike Ali, has been apprehended after deceiving a widow and her two daughters into sleeping with him.

Adesiyan lured the widow into the sacriledgous affair with claims of sleeping with her and her two daughters as the only remedy to avert a looming spiritual attack on her family.

The widow and Adesiyan reportedly began having issues after he continued sleeping with her 19-year-old and 13-year-old daughters, after initially claiming that the ritual which involves cleaning their private parts with a white cloth for a propitiation at a deity’s groove was for a short while.

The leadership of the Odua People’s Congress (OPC) at Iju Station area of Lagos where they live intervened when their issue degenerated into an altercation.

Fakorede Oluifa, a chieftain of OPC in the community said;

“Four days ago, I met the couple (Olanike and Adesiyan) fighting. It was such a big fight and the woman’s daughters from another marriage were crying. She opened up to me that her new ‘husband’ had been sleeping with her two daughters on the pretext that he wanted to fortify them against evil and help cure her only son of his mysterious illness.

“We wanted to apprehend Monsuru (Adesiyan), but he ran away from home. However, yesterday, he neaked into the house and wanted to take the girls away so they would not reveal to us how he had been violating them and subjecting them to sacrilegious sexual intercourse.

“We, however, intercepted him and he opened up on how he had been sleeping with the two girls and wiping their private parts with a white cloth for evil purposes.”

Confessing to the sad act, Adesiyan said he believed sleeping with the girls with the consent of their mother was the only solution to her son’s illness.

He said;

“My name is Monsuru Adesiyan. I am a mechanic by profession and a native of Akufo village in Ibadan, Oyo State. I have two children, a boy and a girl, with my former wife who died some years ago. I started dating this woman (Olanike) about six months ago and we live at Crossing area of Agbado (Lagos).

“Her only son, named Mathew, was sick and I consulted one of my brothers, Fabunmi, who is a herbalist, and he said the solution to the boy’s mysterious illness was for me to sleep with his older sisters, Morenikeji and Opeyemi, for seven days.

“My brother said that I would have to wipe the girls’ private parts with a white cloth which I must bring before a deity for propitiation.

“I have since been sleeping with the girls with the consent of their mother (who is also pregnant for him). I discouraged their mother from taking them to their father’s funeral by telling her that they would be attacked by evil people who are members of their father’s family.’’

On if he will be happy if anyone defiled his daughter same way he violated the girls and their mother, he said;

‘’I won’t be happy if anyone violates my eight-year-old daughter.’’

On their own part, 13-year-old Morenikeji and her 19-year-old sister Opeyemi said they initially refused sleeping with Adesiyan but yielded to it after their mother said it was the only solution to their brother’s ill-health.

Opeyemi said;

“I used to be a teacher in a private school in Ibadan, Oyo State. I was living with my late father’s younger brother.

“Suddenly, my mother visited me and told me that a member of my father’s family was using my glory and disturbing my siblings spiritually. She told me that I might run mad if certain atonement involving spiritual cleansing was not done for me.

“She said the spiritual cleansing would involve Monsuru (Adesiyan) sleeping with me. I was shocked that she could yield to such a distasteful arrangement. I was reluctant about it but my mother continued to persuade me until I gave in to Monsuru. My mother said he would sleep with me for four days only for Monsuru to change the timing to one week. He has slept with me for two weeks now. He made love to me and my sister every day until the situation became unbearable and I cried out and threatened to return to Ibadan.

“It was in the midst of the altercations that OPC operatives got to know that Monsuru had been having an affair with us, against our wish.’’

Also speaking to The Nation correspondent, Morenikeji said;

“Monsuru has already impregnated our mother. I am 13 years old and was a virgin until he forcibly made love to me.

“He had accompanied my mother to where my younger brother, Mathew, was receiving treatment for prolonged cough.

“He told my mother that my brother’s illness was beyond the ordinary, noting that my late father’s relations were behind it.

“By then, my father was receiving treatment for swollen legs which later led to his death. He moved in with my mother at my father’s house in Fagba area of Iju Station, a Lagos suburb, and said the only solution to my brother’s sickness was for him to sleep with me and my elder sister. He used our mother to lure us into the plan and said he would have sex with me for just three days but later changed it to one month. He was making love to me morning, afternoon and night. We want Nigerians to save us from him o.’’

The mother of the two girls who admitted being pregnant for the Lagos-based auto mechanic, said she was deceived into believing that certain people were after her and her children.

She said;

“Monsuru (Adesiyan) said his brother, a herbalist, told him to make love to my daughters as a solution to my son’s sickness, and to prevent those responsible for my husband’s death from attacking my children and I.

“I asked him to allow me to speak with his brother on the telephone but he refused. He tricked me into believing that my little son’s blood had been sucked dry by unseen evil forces and that making love to my daughters would heal my son, hence, I reluctantly agreed. He said he would wipe my daughters’ private part with a white cloth that he would subsequently take to a shrine for atonement. I reluctantly agreed because he said my son would die if I refused to approve of his intervention. He said that I would also vomit blood and die if I told anyone about him having sex with my daughters.

‘’We started dating shortly after my husband died in July (2019) and he discouraged me from taking my children to my husband’s funeral. He said that some persons behind my husband’s death would attack me at the funeral.’’

OPC authorities in the community said the randy artisan will be taken to the Red Brick Police Division in Iju.

Nollywood Is Full Of Envy – Grace Ama Says

Actress, Grace Ama, has been in the movie industry for quite some time but keen observers would agree that she hasn’t been as regular on the silver screen as she used to.

Speaking on her absence from the movie industry in a chat with Saturday Beats, Ama noted that she came into the industry when social media had not gained grounds.

“I’m glad that I’m still in the minds of people. I still get people that ask me, ‘what happened to you?’ It is unfortunate that Nollywood is full of envy and all sorts,” she said.

The actress, who has been in Nollywood for over two decades, but keeps a low profile on the popular photo-sharing app, Instagram, stated that sharing one’s problems on social media would either compound it or get one the attention one desire.

Ama said,

“Sometimes, social media could be helpful and at times, it should not be a go-to place to talk about one’s problems. There are times in one’s life that one has to deal with so many things.

“Many people are used to social media that they want to put out everything about themselves for the world to know. You don’t even know where those challenges are coming from and the moment you go public, you make the culprits know that their plans have worked and they have succeeded.

“You either get the attention you want or it becomes worse for you. When you put it out there and the people you think should have come to your aid didn’t do that, it becomes a problem.

“As for me, I deal with my problems differently. I am not a social media person, I guard my private life and try as much as possible to tackle my problems privately. I have close people that I can reach out to but I pray it never gets to the stage where I would have to go on social media to let people know that things have gone bad for me.

“A lot of things are happening but it takes the spirit of discernment to understand what the world is all about. The world does not want to know that you are doing well. Leave social media. All those things are rubbish; once the chips are down, the people you think are your followers would turn their backs on you.”

Emma Ugolee reveals how he discovered that a girl who refused to date him because she feared he’d die, had died

Media Personality, Emma Ugolee has shared a personal story with the aim of passing a message across to his followers.

Emma revealed that he once loved a woman and asked her out but she refused him. He later discovered that she loved him too but was reluctant to date him because she feared he’d die from the kidney related ailment he was battling.

He recently reconnected with a mutual friend who informed him that his crush has died after her intestines got twisted.

Sharing a photo of a 94-year-old Nigerian woman, who is the oldest Nigerian living with the Sickle Cell Disorder, he wrote:

“Caught deep feelings for this girl in 2012. Could have sworn it was mutual but she said we couldn’t be. I got rid of every means of communication just so i could heal.

Ran into her good friend months later. She calls me “my inlaw” as usual & I go “go joor. Inlaw wey una fashi” .
She holds my hands, pulls me to the side & says with pain in her voice & sincerity in her eyes: “i swear Emma she loved you. She told me that much but she was scared of being in love with you today & you die tomorrow”

If i tell you that this news didn’t break me, ill be lying. Meehn! It cut deep. “Emma na you be this? Kidney wahala” All l could say. But really you can’t judge her for her valid fears.

Late 2018 this same friend was tagged on a post i made. We joyfully reconnected but no “my inlaw” hailing.
My question “How is our wife?” was met with silence. Then came the words “I’m sorry Emma she passed 5years ago”

First time ever i heard of a medical condition where intestines could get twisted. ? I felt pain. That was in October or so
.
Thought about it today and was grateful to God for the undeserved kindness of still letting me breath 8yrs later & as that thought passed, came the one that motivated this message

Human analysis, expectations, predictions, patterns or norms, have no business with how tomorow would turn out for you.
Whatever they say today about your chances of making it is so irrelevant.
_
So i promised me to never make the mistake of being certain that anybody would end in a certain way. Seeing that I am not holier than any whose journeys have ended and thus wise enough to understand that logic does not explain the sustaining power of grace.
_
The fact that a pattern surrounds you, does not mean your future has been moulded by it. Your confidence, your vision, aspiration & motivation must tower above your environment at all times as you declare with faith that “your case would be different.”

Christians enjoy more holidays in Nigeria than Muslims – MURIC

The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has alleged that Christians in Nigeria enjoy more holidays than Muslims in Nigeria.

MURIC made this assertion in a statement released on Friday morning while reacting to claims made by CAN that Christians are being persecuted in the country. MURIC in its statement said the number of public holidays including New Year day being enjoyed by Christians is proof that Christians are more favoured than Muslims.

MURIC’s statement signed by its director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, reads;

As Nigerian Christians joined their counterparts throughout the world to celebrate the New Year on Wednesday, 1st January, 2020, an Islamic human rights organization has alleged lopsidedness, partiality and persecution of Muslims in the manner the Nigerian government dishes out its holidays.

Rising from an emergency meeting where it deliberated on the latest allegation of persecution by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has insisted that the last public holiday which was declared by the Federal Government on 1st January, 2020, has exposed CAN as a body which enjoys shedding crocodile tears. This was contained in a press statement circulated on Friday, 3rd January, 2020, by the director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

MURIC said in the statement, “CAN claims it is being persecuted but fails to substantiate its allegation in concrete terms. However, the last holiday of Wednesday, 1st January, 2020 which is an annual event has exposed CAN. Nigerian Christians enjoy the New Year holiday on the 1st of January every year even without asking for it because that was the arrangement made by the British colonial master. But CAN still claims ‘persecution’ even though it is placed at an advantaged position.

“Nigerian Christians have 1st January to enjoy their first day of the year. Nobody can deny that this happened two days ago. But when the Muslims’ first day of the year comes (1st Muharram), there will be no holiday. When will CAN put itself in the Muslims’ shoes? Or rather when, indeed, will the Nigerian government give the Muslims what the colonial master denied them but gave the Christians? When will the Muslims get justice in this country? Here is persecution of Muslims that even CAN cannot deny. It happened just two days ago and we all saw it? Or is the granting of holiday for a Christian occasion and the denial of same to Muslims another form of persecution of CAN?

“Christians have five out of the eight holidays enjoyed by Nigerians. Muslims have three only. Yet CAN claims persecution. Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year Day, Easter Monday and Good Friday are all for Christians. We dare CAN to deny it. Are these not concrete priviledges enjoyed by Christians? Are the five holidays we mention here mere fallacies? Muslims only have three, namely, Id al-Kabiir, Id al-Fitr and Maulud an-Nabiyy. Is there any mathematical inexactitude in our calculation? Should CAN be complaining at all with this kind of setting?

“We make bold to say that CAN knows what it is doing. The Christian body knows that it has an edge over the Muslims as it enjoys everything it needs and even more. CAN knows that it is the Muslims who are denied certain fundamental human rights but it is determined to maintain the status quo. The modus operandi adopted by CAN to ensure that Muslims never get their rights is to perpetually cry out with claims of persecution and also to oppose every attempt to give Muslims their rights.

“This game played itself out when Shariah was introduced in some Northern states from 1979 onwards. They claimed it was an attempt to Islamise Nigeria. Shariah was introduced and nobody changed the country’s nomenclature to ‘Islamic Republic of Nigeria’. CAN did the same thing when Islamic banking was about to be introduced. Cries of Islamisation rented the air. Islamic banking arrived but we are yet to see how it has Islamised anyone. This was repeated on the issue of sukuk (Islamic bonds) and both Christians and Muslims are benefiting from the Islamic sukuk today.

“MURIC will not be deterred from pursuing Islamic liberation theology to a logical conclusion in Nigeria. We assert clearly, categorically and unequivocally that Muslims are in bondage in this country. Why should one group get all the honey in the land while the other is ignored? We demand equal rights and justice. We demand parity, particularly on the issue of holidays. Christian 1st January is just 24 hours and the Muslim 1st Muharram is no less. Why should the Federal Government recognize one and deny the other?

“Just two days ago, we joined other Nigerians in sending goodwill messages to our Christian neighbours. Governments at federal and state levels felicitated with Nigerians on that occasion. Parastatals and important dignitaries also congratulated Nigerians. MURIC also issued a statement greeting Christians in Nigeria. We do this every year despite the fact that our own 1st Muharram is not recognized. But nobody will remember Muslims on 1st Muharram. Is this fair?

“‘When beggars die, there are no comets seen. The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes…’ William Shakespeare was right when he put those words on the lips of Calpunia, the wife of Julius Caeser as she begged her husband not to venture out on the ides of March. Isn’t this very germane to the issue on ground? The drums are rolled out by government on 1st January. But they are conspiratorially silent on 1st Muharram. Is this justice? Are we really working for enduring peace in this country? What have the Muslims done to deserve this treatment?

“It is important to note that even the three holidays enjoyed by Muslims were reluctantly given after several years of post-independence. There were no holidays for Islamic festivals in colonial days. It was that bad.

“To add salt to injury, the Federal Government has never responded in spite of a deluge of petitions received from Muslims. MURIC has been demanding 1st Muharram holiday since its formation in 1994 (26 years). It is highly provocative. It is dereliction of duty on the part of government. A father who gives preferential treatment to its children is not uniting the family. Is government waiting until the demand snowballs into another struggle? MURIC will not partake in that. But what does it cost government to take a bold stand on this matter? It is not about the Buhari government per se. Successive administrations have failed to address the issue.

“Already, some state governments have recognized 1st Muharram, mostly from the North. Osun under Rauf Aregbesola (current Minister of Internal Affairs) and Oyo under Isiaka Ajimobi also did and heaven did not fall. So what stops the Federal Government from taking the cue? By the way, Muslims in those two states of the South West have written the names of those two former governors in letters of gold.

“The question now is: how does President Muhammadu Buhari want to be remembered by Nigerian Muslims? Can the declaration of 1st Muharram as a public holiday be a drift towards Islamisation? Predictably, yes, particularly by CAN. But we can take the wind out of their sail by placing 1st January and 1st Muharram parri passu. The public no longer takes CAN serious anyway.

“MURIC wishes to put the Federal Government on notice. The next 1st Muharram will fall on Thursday, 20th August, 2020. The government has a whole eight months to plan and prepare its mind. It also has an extra three days in the third week in August to declare Thursday a holiday in recognition of 1st Muharram. To be or not to be? That is the question. MURIC does not issue ultimatum. Neither is threat in our character. We are a dialogue-loving body. But the government’s body language will tell Nigerian Muslims what to do and whoever thinks the Muslims of Nigeria are still the same as they were five years ago will be making a gross miscalculation.

“As we sign out, we remind the Federal Government that it is high time it listened to the Muslims’ demand for the declaration of 1st Muharram as a public holiday in parity with 1st January public holiday. CAN has no moral right to claim persecution as Nigerian Christians enjoy five holidays while their Muslim counterparts have three only. FG should promote unity and patriotism by treating all equally. Neither should government allow one group to lord it over the other.”
