Nsem Godwin pictured above, has been arrested by men of the Ondo state police command for allegedly kidnapping a four month old baby in Okitipupa town, Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the arrest to newmen, the state police command spokesperson, CSP Femi Joseph, said the suspect was arrested by the Highway Saver Policemen of the command, while he was attempting to escape with the victim.
Joseph said the suspect somehow found his way into the compound where the baby resides with his parents. The baby was playing in their compound with his older brother when the suspected kidnapper abducted him. Luck ran out on him when he was spotted by some residents of the community who questioned him on how he got the baby. He couldn’t give any meaningful answer as he began to pretend that he was mentally unstable.
The elders in the community reportedly prevented the angry residents from lynching him to death. He was immediately handed over to the police.

Canadian Pop-Star, Justin Bieber has revealed he has been diagnosed with Lyme disease, an infection caused by the Borrelia bacterium which is spread by ticks.
The singer shared the news in an social media post on Wednesday, January 9, 2020, writing:
“While a lot of people kept saying Justin Bieber looks like s***, on meth etc. they failed to realize I’ve been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease, not only that but had a serious case of chronic mono which affected my, skin, brain function, energy, and overall health,” Bieber wrote.
“These things will be explained further in a docu series I’m putting on YouTube shortly,” Bieber concluded his post. “You can learn all that I’ve been battling and OVERCOMING!! Rev. Ronald Kalende, a priest at Mwereerwe Church of Uganda has been suspended after he admitted to fathering a child with a 23-year-old church choir pianist identified as Perusi Serena Nabirye.
Rev. Kalende is scheduled to marry another woman, the daughter of a Reverend, next week Friday.
It is alleged that apart from Rev. Ronald Kalende, the young woman had an intimate relationship with another priest, Rev Julius Matovu of Jjungo.
What started as a rumor that two priests were sleeping with one woman later became a reality when the lady became pregnant.
Last month, Nabirye gave birth and claimed that Rev. Kalende is the father of her new born baby.
During an interview with Bukedde newspaper on Monday, she said with the guidance of Namirembe Diocese Bishop Rt Rev Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira they were to conduct a DNA test after giving birth to ascertain the biological father of the new born but the men of God seem to be reluctant.
She added that following the incident, Nabirye who used to stay at Archdeacon Ven Emmanuel Ssewanyana’s place in Kazo was sent packing. Currently, Nabirye stays at a friend’s place in Kyebando.
“The Bishop had ordered Canon Ssewanyana to give me Shs500,000 every month for upkeep but he gave me only Shs300,000 before kicking me out of his place,” she told the local daily.
The suspended priests had earlier denied fathering the child with Nabirye.
Rev Kalende said he has nothing to do with Nabirye and that it’s Rev Matovu who knows very well the real father of Nabirye’s new born baby girl.
Speaking out before the paternity test, Rev Kalende said that Nabirye is being used by Rev Matovu to tarnish his name.
“Rev Matovu knows the real father of Nabirye’s baby. Nabirye should bring out evidence that I’m the father of her baby. She should look for the father of her baby. I have never slept with her.”
However, Rev Matovu said that when Nabirye became pregnant, she told him that it was Rev Kalende who is responsible.
”Both Kalende and Nabirye are adults; they should sort out their issues amicably. They should go for a DNA,” he said.

A pregnant mother and three of her children have lost their lives in a fire incident that occurred in their apartment in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.
The cause of the inferno which started at midnight is yet to be known, but two flats were razed down.
According to an eyewitness who spoke to Channels TV, the husband, one Mr Adamu was able to rescue their last child while he escaped with burns.
Confirming the fire and number of casualty to Channels TV, the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Muhammad Goje, said that two households were burnt completely and four lives were lost to the unfortunate incident.
“It was with a heavy heart we received the report and despite the curfew, we went out and reached the six-storey house. A family of six, a pregnant mother and her three children, unfortunately, died during the incident and the father was able to throw one of the children and he was also safe but the father sustained some burns.
“Two households burnt, lost four lives,” he added.

Nollywood actress, Rahama Sadau took to her social media page to share photos from her visit to the Parc De Princes, the stadium which is the home to French Ligue 1 side, Paris St Germain.

About eight persons have been reportedly killed in a fatal car crash in a market in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, at the weekly market day in the area when a Toyota Camry ran through shops, leaving three persons dead on the spot while five others allegedly died in the hospital.
An eyewitness, Patrick Ofem, said that the vehicle (Registration number not seen) descended from a hilly junction during the afternoon period of the day after a break failure and caused the worst havoc the community had ever faced – with properties worth millions of naira destroyed.
“A Toyota vehicle descended from the nearest junction (Ediba junction) into the market, which entered into people’s shops and destroyed properties and about 11 victims were recorded. Three of them died instantly, while the others were rushed to the hospital.
“While at the hospital, 5 people later died, raising the death toll to 8. The Ugep people cried like never before, as they lamented to God for letting such calamity befall them this new year,” Ofem said.
Another eyewitness who gave his name as Obasesam Ikpi, said the incident was tragic as the entire residents of Yakurr Local Government Area are mourning the persons that died from the fatal accident.
According to Ikpi, “A car, which was coming from Ediba junction in Ugep, along Ikom/Calabar Highway lost control, entered into people shops and condemned properties in Ugep Tuesday market.
“One lady and two guys died at the spot while the other five died in the hospital after eight of them were rushed to the hospital.
“The driver was said to be in coma as at the moment,” the witness said.
When contacted via phone on Wednesday, the Paramount Ruler of Yakurr local government area of Cross River State, His Royal Majesty (HRM), Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng, said that only two persons died on the spot and several others sustained various level of injuries.
“Two persons were reported dead and over seven sustained various levels of injuries. I am going to the hospital to check on those that sustained injuries as well as number of those that died again,” he stated.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu Wednesday sounded a note of warning to kidnappers and cultists, to either leave the state, renounce their membership or be prepared to write their will, threatening that the command would make their stay regrettable.
Odumosu gave the warning while briefing journalists on measures put in place by the command to address security challenges in the state.
He lamented that cultism and youth gangsterism was a major security challenge in state but was quick to inform that the command had reviewed its strategies as well as initiated far-reaching approach to eradicate the menace.
Citing the recent rescue of a female member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in a kidnappers’ den in Epe area of Lagos, as an example of the command’s resolve, Odumosu, said that the command was battle ready to make the state uncomfortable for kidnappers and cultists.
He said, ”We have observed activities of those cult groups and gangs for the last two months and have gathered credible intelligence about them. The various cult groups and gangs identified within the state include: Aiye and Eiye confraternities, One million boys at Ajengule, Fadeyi boys at Fadeyi area, Akala boys at Mushin area, Nokia group at Surulere area, Shitta boys at Bariga, Oworonshoki, Shomolu and Palm grove areas, Awawa boys at Dopemu, Agege, Ogba and Iyana Ipaja, Ijesha boys and Aguda boys at Surulere.
“We have reviewed our strategies and have initiated a far-reaching approach to totally eradicate this menace. I have launched a Special Strike Force on social miscreants to effectively combat those miscreants who have chosen the wrong path of life. We are taking the fight to their doorsteps, we are all out for them. We will fish them out, isolate them and bring them to justice. We are battle ready to uproot every cultist den and hideouts until they are totally defeated.
” Let me therefore use this medium to sound a warning to members of those gangs and cult groups to either renounce their membership or be prepared to face the full weight of the law. Kidnappers should leave the state or write their will. This is a promise.
“And to parents and guardians of those youths, my message is simple, monitor activities and movements of your children and wards and make sure that their mission on the public space are legitimate otherwise, they should steer clear”, he said.
A Nigerian lady who suffers from the sickle cell disorder and who doctors feared wouldn’t live up to 20 years, is now in her 40s, married, and also a mother.
She took to Twitter to share her story and also to advise people.

“I am genotype SS. Growing up I was so used to being desperately sick and having blood transfusions that I thought it was something all children experienced. I grew up listening to doctors tell my mum not to have high hopes I might not live to be 20. My parents accepted their fate.”

Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced that they will be stepping back from their role as senior members of the Royal Family.
According to the royal couple, the decision which came after several months of reflection and internal discussions will enable them work to become financially independent.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also disclosed that they will be splitting their time between Britain and Canada, the North American country expected to be their second home.

Veteran Nollywood actress, Joke Silva Jacobs has revealed that she and her husband Olu Jacobs still “do the do”.
Joke stated this during her appearance as a guest on TVC’s popular show, Your View.
“Yes, we still do the do, but in a way that is suitable for our age”, the actress said.
Silva, a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), also spoke about how she was sexually harassed in university by a professor as a mother of two children.
“This issue of sexual harassment does not have anything to do with how you dress. I didn’t want to go to university because I just wanted to do my acting thing and my parents allowed me.

A 26-year-old man identified as Ojo Ibrahim got himself burnt while trying to vandalize a transformer at Araromi street in Ijebu-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun state.
According to the state police command, the vandal had gone to the transformer house at night when power supply had been cut off. However while he was committing the crime, electricity was restored and he was burnt severely.
The residents in the area found him writhing in pain when they woke up in the morning. He was later handed over to the police and will be arraigned in court soon.
A Federal High Court in Lagos today fixed January 15th 2020 as the resumption date for the trial of Instagram Big Man, Ismaila Mustapha aka Mompha.
Recall that Mompha was arrested by EFCC operatives at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja on October 19th and was arraigned before the court on November 25th on a 14 count-charge bordering on Money Laundering and suspected internet fraud. He was arraigned alongside his company, Ismalob Global Investment.
The High Commission alleged that Mompha used Ismalob Global Investment, owned by him, to retain the aggregate sum of N18.05billion between 2015 and 2019. He was also alleged to have aided his company to retain N14.9 billion between 2015 and 2017, while not complying with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Federal Ministry of Trades and Investment financial transactions requirement.
The EFCC also accused Mompha and his firm of unlawfully negotiating a Foreign Exchange transaction with total sum of N630, 125, 900 million, for some individuals. According to the EFCC, the offences contravened Sections 18(c) and 15(2)(d) of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act, 2011 and punishable under Section 15 (3) of the same Act.
Mompha was granted bail by the court on November 29th and after fulfilling his bail condition, he was released on Decembe 9th.
Apostle Chris Omashola has alleged that fans of singer, Naira Marley, who refer to themselves as Marlians, are after his life.
According to Omashola, since he revealed his 2020 prophecy, he has gotten death threat messages sent to him via text or on the different social media platforms by Marlians.
