A man identified as Ibrahim Aremu, popularly called Jenromi, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly being in possession of about 300 wraps of suspected Indian hemp.
The command spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, made this known on Friday, December 6th saying the suspect was arrested following information received by the police at Enugada division ”about his activities as an alleged leader of a cult group terrorising Itun Seriki community, Totoro Abeokuta”.
He said information further revealed that the suspect is also a ‘big-time’ dealer in illicit drugs ”and that his cult group always uses his abode as their meeting point from where they plan how to carry out their notorious activities”.
“On receiving the information, the DPO Enugada division mobilised his men to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested while some of his accomplices escaped. About 300 wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp was (were) recovered from him,” he said.
The commissioner of police, Kenneth Ebrimson, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department.

An 18-year-old boy, Awuzie Duruhas allegedly been shot dead by a police officer because he retaliated when the officer slapped him.
He was allegedly killed within the premises of a new generation bank branch at Umuaka on Sunday, December 1.
According to reports, Awuzie, popularly known as Aboy, from Isiozi Aka in Umuaka, Imo state, had gone to the bank to withdraw money from the bank’s ATM gallery. The boy took his space on the line and other newcomers took their place behind him.
After a while, Awuzie left the line to answer a call. When he returned to take his place on the ATM queue, the bank customer who was behind him refused to let him back on the line.
This led to a verbal confrontation. A policeman present witnessed the confrontation but did not interfere.
The fight soon turned physical and the policeman got involved and started scolding Awuzie.
According to The Nation, Awuzie then told the officer that he refused to do anything when the were simply exchanging words but wants to scold him now that it has turned into a physical fight.
At this, the officer reportedly slapped Awuzie for talking back at him. Awuzie slapped back and the officer allegedly shot him.
The boy’s killing stirred up tension in the town as the youths in the area began planning an attack on the police station.
According to village sources, the youths mobilised to attack the police station but some elders appealed to them to allow the police hierarchy handle the matter.
An elder in the area told The Nation: “I can tell you that the boys were not happy with the matter is that policeman killed the boy over an altercation. So, they had mobilised to burn down the station to show their anger and loss.
“But, some of us had to intervene because this kind of thing has happened here before about 15 years ago when some policemen caused the death of some people in Umuaka here and our youths burned down the police station. So we don’t want this kind of thing to happen anymore.
“Some of them are still planning to launch an attack but we’re still appealing to them.”
The state police commissioner, Rabiu Ladodo confirmed the incident. He added that the command was doing everything possible to contain any further crisis that might arise from the incident.
Ladodo also disclosed that the policeman involved had been arrested and will be punished if found guilty.

Idowu Omosuyi, the police officer that reportedly shot and killed a truck driver along the Akure-Owo Expressroad, Ondo State has finally surrendered himself to the police authorities.
According to reports, Sergeant Omosuyi surrendered himself at the Ondo Police Command headquarters on Thursday, December 5th barely twenty-four hours after he was declared wanted by the police authorities.
The Police Officer, who is attached to the Federal Highway Patrol, had on Monday, allegedly shot Ado Saleh in the head at a security check point after the latter refused to pay him a bribe. The truck driver died on the spot.
The Police Spokesman in Ondo state, Femi Joseph, who confirmed his appearance at the police headquarters said that the police officers would face a disciplinary panel.
“The officer (Sergeant Omoniyi) would now have to face a panel of investigation that was set up by the Commissioner of Police on the case.
“We have repeatedly said that the case would not be swept under the carpet and just as we have assured members of the public that the Nigeria police shall continue to abide by the laws and protect the lives and properties of the people,” he said.
Nigerian Singer, Flavour was recently called out by a lady who accused him of being the father of her child.
The lady was so sure he is the father and she demanded a DNA test, adding that she’d be ready to face the consequences if the result turned out to be false.

An officer of the Nigerian police force was caught on camera in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state head-butting a student trying to explain himself during a phone-check today.
The embarrassing incident didn’t end well for the student because he was left injured.

Rev. Fr Uche Ukor, a catholic priest in the Archdiocese Onitsha, on Wednesday evening, slumped during a novelty match with other colleagues in Asaba, Delta State.
The priest, who was the coach of his side, slumped during a football match between priests of Onitsha diocese and Issele Uku diocese, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased identified as Rev. Fr Uche Ukor was also the Director of the diocese’s media arm, publishers of Trinitas Newspaper.
“He slumped during a football match between priests of Onitsha diocese and Issele Uku diocese yesterday at Asaba.
“He wasn’t even playing. He was their coach. I’ve been in shock since a mutual friend called me last night to inform me of his demise,” a source told Daily Post.
Sahara reporters publisher and pro-democracy campaigner, Omoyele Sowore has regained freedom after over three months since his arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Sowore was arrested and charged to court by the Nigerian government for planning a nationawide tagged #RevolutionNow.
He was released on Thursday evening after the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his release for the third time.
According to Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, the DSS had no justifiable reason to continue to hold the defendant in custody, after she had signed the warrant for his release.
A masquerade got more than he bargained for and received the beating of his life today after he unknowingly attacked a soldier on mufti during his parade at Airforce base, Akowonjo, Lagos.
According to reports, the incident happened close to Airforce base, Shasha Akowonjo, Lagos. The masquerade while parading around the vicinity and attacking residents, came across the soldier and landed blows on him.
The soldier, who was dressed in mufti, immediately made his status as a soldier known and descended on the masquerade with full force.

“When I was a little girl I would dream of getting married at the age of 25 and having a child at the age of 27, with my music career blowing to the sky.
“Always thought at this age I would be famous for the world to love and that I would have all the money I needed to build an empire. However like the saying goes, “God watches you plan and he laughs”. Things didn’t turn out like I’d hoped.”
“It was 2016 when I found out I was pregnant with my first child. I was scared cause I thought to myself how can I take care of a baby when I could barely take care of myself, I felt lost and confused, I did not know what to tell my family or how to tell the father himself.”

Controversial media personality, Daddy Freeze of Cool FM, has reacted to a social media post by the official account of Pastor David Oyedepo of Winners Chapel.
The popular cleric had shared a post calling members of his church and the general public to write out three items they want from God, and expect it to be delivered to them.
Freeze, however, did not concur to what Oyedepo had asked his followers to do. He also shared a short bible teaching to counter the pastor’s post.

The landlady of a church building has taken an extreme measure to evict her tenant in Benin City, Edo State.
According to reports gathered, the lady had told the tenant, who is a pastor, to vacate her land after his rent expired in October.
However, the man’s refusal to move out on time prompted landlady to storm the building with bags of trash and litter everywhere.
Nigerians have taken to social media to air their views on the incident. From the comments, some are sincerely against the action of the landlady, as they described her action as a total disrespect to God.
