The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami on Tuesday tasked the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to work out modalities to reduce the price of data in the interest of Nigerians.
According to TheNation, Pantami said his office has been inundated with complaints from concerned Nigerians about the high cost of data by telecoms.
The Minister mandated the management of the NCC led by its Board Chairman, Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye, during a courtesy visit to work out the modalities with other stakeholders in the industry in the next five working dates.
The Minister said:
” I am urging the management of NCC to work towards reducing the price of data in Nigeria. It is too costly and people are complaining every day.
If you go to other countries, even countries that are not as largely populated as Nigeria, data prices are not this high.
I am also a victim of some of the infractions that are so common in the industry. You load your data, but you barely used 20 percent of it and the entire data is wiped off.”

Nigerians woke up to the news that the country’s entry for the Academy/Oscar awards, the movie ‘Lionheart’ was disqualified from its category because there was too much dialogue in English.
Actress, Genevieve Nnaji, who directed and starred in the movie, in her reaction, stressed that English is the official language of Nigeria, a language that unites a country of over 500 different ethnic tribes.
1/1 1/2 Thank you so much @ava.

Nigerians are also reacting to the news on social media and a popular/controversial writer, Sugabelly, is of the opinion that the movie was disqualified simply because it did not meet up to standard – ”The film is not good enough”, she wrote ;
Her tweet reads ;
The first and last thing I am going to say about this Lionheart Oscars / Academy Awards lunacy is this:
Korea did not submit Train to Busan to the Oscars, you think it’s Lionheart that deserves to be nominated for an Oscar.
Please check into rehab and say no to drugs.
I really need to stress that the problem with #Lionheart being nominated or not nominated for the #Oscars has nothing to do with whether it’s in English or not.
THE FILM IS JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Period.
Imagine expecting Lionheart to stand next to Parasite in the Nominations.

Nollywood’s first-ever submission for best international feature Oscar consideration, the movie “Lionheart,” has been disqualified by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for having too much dialogue in English.
“Lionheart,” in which Nnaji also stars, is partially in the Igbo language of Nigeria. But it is mostly in English, which violates an Academy rule that entries in the category must have “a predominantly non-English dialogue track.” The film had not been vetted by the Academy’s International Feature Film Award Executive Committee in advance of the Oct. 7 announcement of qualifying films but was recently viewed and determined not to qualify in a category that until this year was known as Best Foreign Language Film.
Genevieve, in her reaction to the disqualification, took to twitter to share ;

Popular blogger, Linda Ikeji has revealed that she was too choosy with the successful men who came her way.
Linda Ikeji revealed this during an interview on Starr Drive show ahead of the Ghana Bloggers Summit in Accra.
According to her, she never experienced the saying that men avoid rich and successful women because she had many men come her way.
In her words ;
“To be honest, people have this misconception that when you are successful and rich, men avoid you. That’s not my experience. A lot of men come after you when you are successful and rich. strongmen come for you. For me, I was too picky. I like successful people too, I want somebody that can inspire me. So I’m naturally attracted to successful men. So my experience has been a lot of men come after you for different reasons. Some are sincere, some just want your money, some want to use you to crown chase, some see you as an asset, some see you as a bank, and some truly like you. That’s been my experience”.
A Nigerian lady has taken to micro-blogging platform, Twitter to call out a smiling ‘fraudster’ who allegedly conned her mobile banking outlet of N160K.

Read her tweets below;
This guy came to our mobile banking agent office to make a transaction. He was to transfer 160,000 to our account to collect Cash in return .
The first transfer of 120k to our @gtbank account was successful . He made 100K from his GTBank and the 60K from a Sterling bank
The 40K remaining balance he did to us ,We did not receive the alert so we didn’t pay him but promised to call him immediately we get credited . He left with 120k .
40Minutes after, we received the alert and decided to call but his number was off .
This happened on October 19, Saturday, ,Sunday ,still the same , his line was off .
We have a mandate that any transaction above 50K , we take pictures of the customer .
He didn’t disagree with us. He geefully smiled all through the shoot.
When we didn’t get through to him, we reported at the Idimu police station also stating that he has 40K with us .
On Monday, we discovered that our gtbank account has been restricted and flagged .
I visited the @gtbank branch and was told that there was a complain from the owner of the account and the transaction made was unauthorized . Was advised to write a letter to the bank to deduct 160K from my account while crediting the person so the ban can be lifted
The Police said, Unfortunately, they don’t have his details, only pictures so he can’t be traced .
We met with the owner of the account who said she had visited a road side @MTNNG promo stand to upgrade her sim ,she recognized the guy in this photo as one of them.
Refunding 150,000 naira is painful.
I have decided to put his pictures out here since the Police are helpless. Even if I have to refund what I didn’t owe , His face should be everywhere as a wicked THIEF .

Popular fashion stylist and entrepreneur, Toyin Lawani who’s the pioneer of “Tiannahs place empire“ recently opened up on her battle with Fibroid for many years on her Instagram page revealing she’s been battling the ailment for over 13 years.
The quite free-spirited stylist and mother of one revealed that many celebrity women are going through a lot in their private lives while some don’t even know they have the ailment since they hardly go for medical tests and check-ups.
Toyin Lawani shared the story of how she battled with fibroid when she was pregnant with her first child Via her Instagram account. She narrated her struggle with fibroid and how she nearly lost her womb.
She gave her revelations as thus,
“I chose to tell you about my story today. I keep everything in my life under wraps because of the negativity out there. 90 percent of my life doesn’t make it to the Internet. I’ve been through a lot in my life, but I’ll let you read all the truth in my book and watch on my reality show #Lifeofanenterpreneur…”
“When I had @lilatmfashionista (Tiannah) I bled all through the pregnancy not knowing I was even pregnant till about 5 months after. three years after I had her I was always having stomach pains and bleeding heavily through my periods. I went to see my gynecologist and he said I had three small fibroids and we agreed to take them out through laparoscopic surgery.
“I woke up thinking it was done, he said it was on my womb, that I will lose my womb if he did it, and I didn’t sign for them to open me up. They had to do it through major surgery. He said one was on my bladder, which made me pee myself when I cough in public and it gave me terrible back pains and leg pains, but he then advised me to have another baby before the surgery. Years after, I got pregnant with @lordmaine1 despite the consequences around it. My partner insisted I had the baby after we found out I was pregnant for months like this because I was still having my periods. Due to the fibroids, around five months I was bedridden. I had a lot of pains from the pregnancy and flew to my gynecologist in the UK. He said I had something called Red Degeneration where the fibroids suck the blood from the baby and doesn’t make it grow. The same day I found out I had Gestational Diabetics. I thought I was going to lose the baby, they changed my diet, went through nonstop pains till about 7 months. Later the baby started growing well and so was the 3 fibroids, they put my sugar levels on the check, during this period.
“With all the pains I even had a fashion show in UK @afwlandafwn and no one knew what I was going through. Even after the show I still ended up at d hospital the next day and they couldn’t give me any serious meds all through my pains, because it could affect the baby, just pain killers. So, I had to bear the pain and in all these, one day while I was sleeping at home, someone sent me a blog story. I read a lot of horrible things about the paternity of my child, with a series of lies, just to pull me and the brand that I’ve worked so hard for down. This worsened my health badly, but my partner & mother-in-law stood by me all through.
“Taking care of me and with prayers, they never doubted me for once. During this period, I couldn’t walk, eat, bath myself, nor talk, thanks to my partner and brother. They used to bath me. I also had a sister God sent to me, but the pain stopped after about 7 months. A lot of my former staff had left me by then, but I raised a team of interns & worked till I was 8 months and two weeks because like everyone else, we have bills to pay. I even lost my home and former shops. After I had the baby, I started working on my new site Tiannahsplacempire quietly…leaving some details out but you can read it in my book.
“The next day after my birthday the 2nd of March, I was having fun with the family at the Federal Palace hotel. I started bleeding chunks of blood nonstop. I was rushed to Reddington and collapsed when we got there. They stopped the bleeding & pleaded with me to do the surgery, but I kept postponing it because I didn’t want to lose my womb. It happened again, but this time I couldn’t fly out and a friend told me about a very good Lebanese hospital and they rushed me there. They took the three fibroids out & saved my womb. I was so scared of the scar from the surgery but to my surprise, it’s so thin it’s unbelievable. When I see people with CS scars, I’m like hell no.
“Well, I thank God for my life & my family for standing by me on my sickbed, and thanks to the wonderful doctors @celebdr Dr. Diya, you are a wonderful man, Dr. Wale, Droke, Dr. Valerie, they all made me feel at home. Too many jokes from them and thanks to my online TeamTiannah and my 40 members of staff at Tiannahsplacempire that kept the Biz going. So, ladies pls check yourself regularly, imagine if I was too far from the hospital?
“This is how people bleed to death. Lord, I thank you for your continued blessings and that I can hold my kids again and have more of them……I’ll serve you forever,” she revealed.
Just a few days ago, Toyin Lawani started an awareness of “Fibroid“ on her Instagram page which she tagged “Fibroidawareness‘. The celebrity stylist revealed that she had undergone three surgeries. In a recent post on her Instagram handle, she explained how she coped after the 3 major surgeries. Hear her “ “You WILL NEVER KNOW HOW YOUR STORY CAN HELP OTHERS FIGURE OUT THEIR JOURNEY, MY DM IS FUL. So many sad stories, let’s create more awareness for Fibroid. Position if fibroids are different and will affect us differently, but one thing I know for sure is that having Fibroid and being pregnant is the worst thing ever because if it’s positioned in your uterus like mine, you will go through Red degeneration. It’s either the Baby outgrows the Fibroid or the fibroid outgrows the baby. At 6months I was told my baby wasn’t growing due to The Red degeneration, I gave up. But something told me to go abroad before I take any step, so I did and they were able to manage the pregnancy till I had him. It’s good if you have Fibroid and you always seek advice before you take in. I discovered mine 13 years ago. I didn’t know on time, I felt I had a spiritual problem and I was 23 at the time. I’ve been dealing with it since then, they were too small to take out then. My first laparoscopic surgery in the UK was so heartbreaking.
This was 2014, my first major cut. I had both my kids naturally and I was avoiding the surgery for years. I was avoiding that big scar, so I went for the surgeries with the small holes. But let me share this experience with you. I was booked for the surgery in the UK already, had 3months to it, so I planned a 3days celebration for my birthday. The last one, I lodged I and my kids and family at the Federal Palace hotel for the pool party. After the party, I and my nanny took the kids up. I went to the toilet to pee, then I felt I was on my period. Next thing I saw chunks of blood. Well, that’s how my period used to be then until I noticed it wasn’t stopping. In a minute, I felt like they killed a cow in the bathroom, the floor was covered in clothed blood like kidney size. I picked up the phone, called my doctor but he was far away. This was 2 am, didn’t want to scare the kids so I told my nanny to come in. At this time I found my way in the tub and the blood just kept gushing. I bled for like 30 mins, trying to call for help and didn’t want to tell the hotel CSE. I didn’t want it in the news.
At this point, I was getting very tired and I said to myself, wow, this is how people die and the first thing that came to my mind was my kids. When I realized it wasn’t gonna stop, I told her to tell Tiannah to come in, she’s the strongest child I’ve ever seen. She looked scared but I told her I will be ok. I told her to watch her brother, took the hotel robe and put it between my legs, wore my big boubou and my nanny helped me up. I wore my shades and walked out of the hotel. My driver had gone home but dropped the key. I drove to Reddington in V.I. On getting to their compound, the gateman was chatting some shit about parking. I came down with blood splashing everywhere and fell down, and that was all I remember. When I woke up, they said they stopped the bleeding and I needed surgery ASAP. I called @celebdr and they moved me to Ave Maria. I was scared of sleeping so they paralyzed me through it, so my eyes were open, it got to a point I started screaming, I felt every pain. From the cutting to the lasering of my Uterus, it was awful. They quickly gave me a jab and it knocked me out. When I woke up, I saw my beautiful kids playing with my hair. I smiled, Fibroid is not a joke. Imagine doing several surgeries and having several comebacks. I’m on a herb now and one went already, will share details later after my next scan. #FAWARENESS
“Fibroid scars are not anything to be ashamed of and tied to other things, women go through a lot of pains through these procedures, so wear your scars with pride.
“Wishing everyone out there going through this good luck”.

The Nigerian government on Monday, November 4th listed the conditions that must be met for it to reopen its borders.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, alongside members of the Inter-ministerial committee on the temporary partial closure of land borders, held a press briefing in Abuja to discuss the issues.
The nation’s borders have been closed for several weeks in a move the government said was to grow the local economy and reduce illegal importation.
The issue has generated controversy in the economy with many condemning the government for not providing palliatives to curb the expected rise in basic goods for families.
Some also argue that the border closure violates Nigeria’s agreements within ECOWAS and the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.
Other Nigerians have, however, commended the initiative saying it would help increase local production and use of made-in-Nigerian goods.
According to media reports, officials of the federal government saying the closure has led to increased revenue for the Nigeria Customs Service and a reduction in the volume of petrol smuggled outside Nigeria.
President Buhari has since extended the border closure to January next year. Some conditions were agreed upon by members of the Nigerian side of the tripartite committee set up to review the policy.
The conditions as stated by Mr Onyeama are as follows:
– Any import coming from outside an ECOWAS region and imported into an ECOWAS member state must maintain its original packaging. They must be escorted from the port directly to the designated entry point in the Nigerian border, presented to the Nigerian customs with their original packaging. Compromises will not be tolerated.
– Goods produced predominantly in ECOWAS member states must satisfy the ECOWAS rules of origin to avoid any possibility of downplay. Goods must be majorly produced in ECOWAS countries. If the goods are coming from outside ECOWAS, the value addition must be over 30 per cent for it to be accepted within the framework of the Economic Trade Liberalisation Scheme that ECOWAS countries have to promote trade among them. This is to avoid countries outside member states from exporting their goods into ECOWAS region repackaged, as though they are coming from an ECOWAS region.4
– All warehouses along the shared borders of Nigeria must be dismantled.
– Goods being transported must be put in proper recognized packaging. No longer will we have goods of all shapes and sizes going through the borders. To maintain the best practices of those goods, an accepted condition for packaging will be established.
– In regards to free movements of persons, all persons moving through Nigerian borders must present themselves through recognized entry points and must have recognized travel documents (country passport).
In two weeks Nigeria will be hosting a tripartite meeting (Niger, Benin, and Nigeria) to further review the policy. Heads of ministries of foreign affairs, interior, finance, customs, immigration, NIA and other security segments will form the committees of each country represented.
Billionaire Businessman, Femi Otedola became a year older on Monday and the generous philanthropist got a birthday shout-out from his daughter, DJ Cuppy and popular Comedian, Broda Shaggi.
DJ Cuppy and Broda Shaggi – who were together at a time – made a video call to the business man, to wish him a happy birthday and in course of their conversation, Otedola jokingly mentioned that Broda Shaggi is Cuppy’s new husband.
The businessman then went on to ask them when their wedding will hold – though it seems as a joke, but the closeness between the duo is gradually taking another turn as Shaggi’s comment is seen in almost all Cuppy’s posts on IG with love emojis.

According to a report, the suspects were allegedly planning a “massive” cyber attack based on the first elements of the investigation.
The piracy was to target the operator, Orange Senegal, who had filed a complaint for “attempted intrusion into a computer system“.
It was the investigators from the gendarmerie’s research section who made the huge sweep. On Saturday afternoon, the gendarmes surprised the 49 cybercriminals alleged to be at home at the time: two separate buildings in the neighborhood of Ouakam.
Inside the apartments, fake passports, several mobile phones and especially computers, about sixty of them, were seized by the police. “It’s a very organized team that has been stopped” said a source close to the case.
Nigerians based in Senegal are said to be linked to piracy targeting Orange Côte d’Ivoire in June. They would have diverted the equivalent of 449 million CFA francs, nearly 700,000 euros, according to the elements of the investigation. Two other recent computer intrusions in Sierra Leone would also be to their credit.
The investigation continues, as all suspects remain in custody.
A tweet by a Twitter user of a comparison between two Nigerian artistes, has caused a frenzy on the platform, with a lot of people going against his stance.
The said user stated that fast-rising Mavin Records artiste, Rema, is a bigger artiste than rapper, Olamide in the music industry.
Of course, his notion caused a stir on the social media platform as some described it as an insult on Olamide with some others feeling there’s no basis for comparison between the two artistes who are miles apart.
18-year-old fast rising artiste, Rema won this year’s Headies’ Next Rated Award and since he began having his fair share of stardom, his fans have been rating him alongside other top notch music artistes who’s been on the music radar for years.
Olamide, a multi-award winning controversial rapper, sprung into limelight some nine years ago after he released his hit single, ‘Eni Duro’ and has since then, been consistent with releasing music that’s been making waves.
Aside from his consistency, the rapper was also instrumental to the success of other stars like Adekunle Gold, Lil Kesh, Lyta among others who were at a time, signed to his YBNL record label.
In light of the comparison between himself and Rema, this certainly isn’t the first time Rema’s fans would be causing controversial debates online as from the moment he was signed to Mavins record label, a section of social media has been comparing him to top singer, Wizkid, saying he sings like the “Joro” crooner and may likely be the next big name to come out of Africa.
They backed their argument with claims that Rema also came into limelight at the same age Wizkid hit the Nigerian music industry like a whirlwind and has become one of the most successful artistes to come out of Africa.
The sizzling hot debate about Olamide and Rema was prompted by a tweet from a Twitter user who listed 10 Nigerian artistes he said he considers as legends in the music industry.
Olamide can’t be debatable… and Davido can’t be over Olamide never…He’s one of the best Rapper in Africa
A user then went on to suggest that Davido listed in number six shouldn’t be above Olamide, another Twitter user who seems to be enraged by the comment then said “even Rema is bigger than him (Olamide)” and thus, the battle begun.
It’s your list though…..and if I may ask what do you consider before you claim dem as a legend
Stfu, is it by having plenty albums? Olamide has 7 albums but yesterday's Rema is bigger than him…Davido got singles bigger than people's albums, FALL,IF,BLOW MY MIND ETC
Olamide Badoo is the best indigenous rapper in Nigeria, we closed this argument since 2014, he sits and eat on this table alone, no one comes close. QED
Rema is better than Olamide who has been consistent for 8years, won nearly 30 awards, the Greatest Indigenous Rapper ever, the Lord of Street Hop with over 50 Hit Songs. When Olamide was dropping Bars on Yung Erikina, Rema was still drinking Cerelac ffs ?
9years in this Music Industry, 9 albums, More than 20 hits, Owner of one of the best Record Label, discovered more than 6 Stars, still discovering more and he doesn’t BRAG about it.
If you still don’t believe Olamide is a LEGEND then you need medical attention. God bless Baddo
The way y'all disrespect Olamide on this app self,
*Dude opened artists eyes to owning record labels
*This one that your MCMs are doing December concerts, who did you think pave the way for them Forget Olamide is a trailblazer and that what we call legendary pic.twitter.com/KDNE4qeH9o
How can you not regard Olamide as a legend, He’s the most consistent artiste we have in Nigeria today the only artiste that drops album yearly for his fans. Weather you are his fans or not you can’t just ignore the fact that he’s very hardworking and consistent.
I don’t even care what people say about Olamide he is the best rapper in Nigeria. Someone fucking said Olamide is debatable for legendary status wtf ???
If Olamide gave a fuck about the International scene, damn!!! He will be on another level right now.
And despite not giving a fuck, he’s still as big!!! He releases hits that take over the club back to back!! Him dey release song like upcoming artist ?
