Onyekackukwu Chukwuebuke Igwilo, a 20-year-old male Towson University resident student, has been charged in connection with the alleged rape of another student.
He was charged with first-degree rape, attempted first-degree rape, false imprisonment and first- and second-degree assault in Maryland, U.S.
Officials said the victim was assaulted around 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Towson Way. The victim told police she had gone to her friend, Igwilo’s room to watch a movie.
They were watching the movie when he touched her and climbed on top of her, the victim said. Officials said the victim said, “No,” but he put his hands on her throat.
When she told him again to stop, the suspect raped her and would not let her leave, officials said. Igwilo finally let her leave and she had visible and physical injuries. She then contacted campus police.
The Towson University Police reported the case to the county police around 7:30 p.m. TU police secured the crime scene, found Igwilo and detained him until county police arrived. The suspect is being held without bail.

Nigerian Chef, Folashade Shoyonbo, on Sunday in Lagos emerged winner of a Jolof Rice Contest after beating chefs from two other West African countries.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Shoyonbo beat several others from Nigeria, Togo and Benin Republic during the contest at the 15th AKWAABA African Travel and Tourism Market which opened on Sunday in Lagos.
NAN reports that the Jollof Rice Contest, which was organised to promote culinary tourism in Africa, saw two other Nigerians, Deborah Esene Fatima Lawal, clinching second and third positions, respectively.
Shoyonbo said she was surprised over her victory and never envisaged winning the contest as she left immediately she presented her cuisine to the judges only to be called back.
She advised other chefs to stay tenacious and dedicated to their work, saying that success awaits those who persevered.
She thanked the organisers for encouraging African chefs and for giving her the platform to showcase her cooking talent.
“Am so happy right now; I never saw it coming, in fact it is a surprise for me and I could not hold my tears when I was told I emerged the winner.
“I appreciate the organisers of this fair and everyone who had encouraged me since I embraced this profession and I will advise everyone to remain dedicated and focused on their chosen career.
“I was determined to be successful in this profession and here I am today,” she said.
Shoyonbo, a graduate of Accounting who also had Diploma in Catering, is a chef with Lagos Continental Hotel.
“I am a graduate of Accounting but was not fulfilled until I embraced this profession; there is huge gain in doing what you love,” she said.
NAN reports that Shoyonbo won the trophy and a fridge while her first and second runners up went home with generator and a set of dishes, respectively.
Big Brother Naija: Pepper Dem housemate, Tacha, on Sunday bragged to her fellow housemates about her stay in the reality show.
Tacha, who is one of the most talked-about and criticized housemates of the ‘Pepper Dem’ edition of the show, said this shortly after her conversation with Ebuka about her reaction to Diane following the missing box.
Recall that Tacha rained insults at Diane and accused her of getting drunk after she forgot the red box at the Arena. But, Cindy speaking to Ebuka on the incident described Tacha’s reaction as ‘senseless and uncalled for.’
However, Tacha after the eviction show told housemates that she would remain in the show till the 99th day no matter the hate and dislike from them.

England, Nigeria, and Canada are ready to battle for the services of Chelsea’s defender Fikayo Tomori.
The 21-year-old was born in Calgary, Canada, to Nigerian parents but was raised in England. He is eligible to represent the senior national teams of Nigeria, Canada, and England despite playing for Canada’s Under 20 team and for England’s Under 20 and Under 21 teams.
Speaking on the situation, Tomori said,

Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has just enrolled his six-year-old son, Abubakar Al-Siddique El-Rufai into primary one of Capital School Malali, Kaduna, a public school, in fulfillment of the promise he made in 2017.
El-Rufai in a state broadcast in December 2017, promised to enroll his child in a public school when he turns six years.
“The move is part of reforms to revamp public schools in the state to make them more competitive. We are determined to fix public education and raise their standards so that private education will become only a luxury.
“As we make progress, we will require our senior officials to enrol their children in public schools. And I will by personal example ensure that my son that will be six years of age in 2019 will be enrolled in a public school in Kaduna State, by God’s grace,” El-Rufa’i had said.
Briefing newsmen shortly after he enrolled the child, El-Rufai explained that it was a commitment that had been fulfilled.
“I made that commitment because I believe that it is only when all political leaders have their children in public schools that we will pay due attention to the quality of public education.
I went to a public school like this. The school I went to is not as good as this one, but here I am, because of the quality teaching I got.
“I intend to ensure that all our public schools offer quality education, and so we are encouraging all our senior public servants to send their children to public schools.
Once the public schools are improved to a point they are nearly as good or even better than private schools, no one will waste his money taking his child to private school,” he said.
Ummi El-Rufa’i, the mother of the child said,
“l am glad that we can send a strong message to our leaders and the elites, that we need to start making things work from within our homes. By the time we start attending public hospitals and send our children to public schools, the system will get better. This is a very huge step,” she said.
On his part, the little child said:
“I am sad that I will miss my old school, my friends and my teachers. But I have to help my father keep his promise”.
A North Korean national who works with CC7 Construction company in Lekki area of Lagos state, has been accused of killing a Nigerian man said to be his co-worker during a heated argument at the company.
The deceased identified as Chinua Nwogu, reportedly works with the company as a Chinese translator and he was allegedly hit with a forklift by the North Korean man.
It was gathered that after the Nigerian man was confirmed dead, the company claimed it was an accident to protect its image and that of its foreign workers.
The cold feet in reporting the case to the police for an investigation to be carried out, led to a protest at the company.

A suspected armed robber and rapist, Makinde Abiodun, has been apprehended by men of the Ogun state police command after a lady who Abiodun and other members of his gang robbed and raped, identified him at the police station.
A statement released by the state police command spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, says that Makinde and other members of his gang currently at large, operated a ‘one-chance’ syndicate that put a vehicle on the Sango-Owode Road along Idiroko in Ogun State, disguising as a commercial vehicle but with an ulterior motive of dispossessing unsuspecting passengers of their belongings.
Oyeyemi in his statement, said Makinde and his other gang members robbed two ladies, Gloria Edoh and Saidat Akinola, who boarded the vehicle wherein Makinde and one other posed as passengers.
According to the victims, they both boarded the cab from Owode enroute to Sango, but on getting to Olokopupo area of Atan otta, Makinde and his gang members suddenly brought out knives and other dangerous weapons with which they forced them to surrender their belongings.
The sums of N37,000 and N48,000 were collected from each of the victims. They were also forced to surrender their Techno phones and thereafter, pushed out of the moving vehicle, thereby sustaining varying degree of injuries.
The victims had to go for treatments at a nearby hospital. As the victims were leaving the hospital, they sighted and identified Makinde as one of the hoodlums that attacked them and raised an alarm. He was apprehended by the DPO Atan-Otta, SP Abiodun Salau who was on a routine patrol of the area with his men.
While at the station, one woman (name withheld) who had earlier complained of a similar incident, identified Makinde as one of the hoodlums who robbed and raped her the previous day. She said that her pant was also taken away by her attackers.
“The suspect has confessed participating in the two robbery incidents” Oyeyemi said.
The police say Makinde will be charged to court soon while efforts are being made to arrest the other members of his gang.
Two pupils have died while several others are still trapped under the debris after a wall collapsed at Precious Talent School in Nairobi, Kenya.
The incident happened on Monday morning (Sept.23) as the students were in their classrooms.
According to the-star.co.ke, four others have been rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital while the Red Cross and rescue teams are currently at the school to rescue the pupils.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State gave N20,000 to each of the second batch of 315 Nigerians evacuated from South Africa.
The second batch of returnees arrived a week after another 187 Nigerians fleeing xenophobia came back from South Africa.
The flight, which originated from the OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg was received by Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission and Air Peace Chairman, Allen Onyema. Also on ground was Jermaine Sanwo-Olu, Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Diaspora.
Presenting the token on behalf of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jermaine Sanwo-Olu said that the money was a palliative for the returnees saying that the returnees from Lagos State would be transferred to the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), where they would be trained on skill acquisition.

We finally got to hear Tacha reveal the cause of her screams, as she opened up to Ike. Basically, she was of the opinion that the Housemates all trended on her name this week. What made her assume such, you may ask. According to Tacha, Ebuka asked the Housemates some questions during his table shaking session and for some reason, they all seemed to have her name in their mouths. From the mixtape fight with Omashola to the fight with Diane, she seemed to be the highlight of the week. She didn’t quite understand that and for that reason, did not fail to voice her feelings to whoever cared to listen. “I’m guaranteed till week fourteen,” she shouted on.
Another Angle
Prior to this, Diane and Elozonam were in the room talking about her. Elozonam was having dinner prepared and served by Tacha. Diane saw this and told him to keep the same energy when she’s eating Frodd’s food. In his defence, Elozonam replied, “It’s called survival”.
Again, Omashola, Seyi and Cindy were in the Garden talking about Tacha’s screams. Seyi asked Omashola if Tacha was referring to him and if the shouting was directed at him. Omashola admitted to not hearing what Tacha had to say. What surprised us was when he took it upon himself to tell Seyi and Cindy that Tacha like him, didn’t know how to hold a grudge. “She’ll tell you where you went wrong and close the matter,” he added. Friendship goals, perhaps? Or could it be as a result of the loyalty that comes with being team Legend?
Later on, Ike and Mercy were discussing Tacha’s outburst and in this conversation, Ike told Mercy everything Tacha revealed to him earlier. “She feels we’re trending because of her,” Ike said.

Popular Ghanaian counselor, Lutterodt has opened up on starting his own breast-sucking consultancy which will help in eradicating cancer in his country.
Lutterodt says the consultancy will be such that women who want to seek their services will just have to come to their office and they will be attended at a specific place, adding that their identity will not be disclosed.

A 300 level accounting student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo state has died after she drowned at the Olumo Beach River, popuarly known as Sabo Beach.. and this was caught live on camera.
The sad incident happened at the Popular beach, during a picnic organized by her hostel to mark their hostel week.
In a clip from the incident, Priscilla could be seen going to the deep end of the water and moments later she started calling out for help, but drowned before she could be rescued.
