“Many illegal immigrants will soon be deported from Nigeria” – NIS

Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, Muhammad Babandede, has said many illegal immigrants living in the country will soon be deported as the Service is set to commence issuance of residence permits to foreigners in the country.

Disclosing this at the passing out parade of 396 cadets in the 44th Superintendent Basic Course held at the Immigration Training School in Kano, Babandede said NIS will begin the deportation exercise in the next three months.

“With present security challenges facing this nation, the only options left for the service is the issuance of permits for all foreign nationals living in the country as a measure to curtail insecurity issues.

“Therefore, in the next three months, the service will commence issuance of residence permits to foreign nationals residing in Nigeria and anybody who failed to possess his own before the expiration of the stipulated time for the permit issuance faces deportation,” the CG said.

He added that the 44th set is the second to be trained under the newly developed training curriculum drafted by the 30 professors engaged by the service, stressing that the present NIS is an IT-driven service that attached high premium on digitization.

“The service is gradually conforming with international standard requirement as it is IT-driven; therefore, it is equally very important to state here that the service has obtained presidential approval to establish e-base immigration system where the service will be able to share security information with other security agencies in the nation,” Babandede added.

Brothers jailed after they attacked their mother’s killer in dramatic court room brawl (Photos)

Two brothers have been jailed for trying to assault a murderer who pleaded guilty to the killing their mother – Dale Williams, 62, admitted to fatally shooting Elizabeth Pledger-Stewart, 46.

On June 15, 2017 he crashed his van into Ms Pledger-Stewart’s car and then shot her several times as she got out of her vehicle. The night before the killing, Ms Pledger-Stewart filed a police report in which she claimed Williams had threatened her.

After pleading guilty to fatally shooting the deceased, as he was waiting on his sentence at Mahoning County courtroom, his victim’s sons lunged at him just before the victim’s daughter was due to make a statement.

A video of the incident shows pandemonium breaking out in the court as the two sons charge across the room at Williams.

Court staff stopped the brothers and restrained them before they reached Williams. The brothers still threw blows at the convict and police had to user a taser on them.

One of the brothers screamed out, saying,

“He killed my mum. He killed my mum. She take care of me bro. Nobody else did.”

The brothers were cuffed and taken away. They will serve 30-days in jail for contempt of court, Wtap reported. Although Williams’ sentence was delayed he is facing 23 years to life in prison, according to WFMJ.

ICYMI: 6 Interesting Things You Probably Missed in the #BBNaija House This Week

It’s the second week in the Big Brother Naija House and the housemates have experienced a roller coaster of emotions, from nomination wahala, to the face-me-I-face-you troubles, Tacha’s boasting and the 2-woman eviction that shook Africa last weekend!

In case you missed all the drama between the Pepper Dem housemates, we’ve got you covered! Buckle up as we take you on a journey of the 6 most interesting things that happened in the house this week:

The Surprise Eviction: When Biggie announced the eviction last Sunday, everyone was thrown into a frenzy. Fans wondered if Biggie planned to pull a fake eviction or if Omashola and Ike would be disqualified from the competition. Eventually, Khafi and Gedoni were saved after coming tops in a marble challenge while Isiloma and Avala’s Big Brother Naija journey ended abruptly as they emerged bottom two in the challenge. We can’t forget the image of Avala hunched on the ground while she waited for the announcement.

The Dreaded Nomination: The new week started off with Biggie calling the housemates into the Diary room to each nominate two housemates they want put up for possible eviction. This was their first since they entered the house. Peep their nominations below:

Seyi – Ella and Tuoyo
Mercy – Ella and Frodd
Frodd – Tacha and Ella
Thelma – Frodd and Tacha
Omashola – Sir Dee and Tacha
Tacha – Frodd and Sir Dee
Nelson – Ella and Gedoni
Khafi – Frodd and Kimoprah
Tuoyo – Ella and Seyi
Ella – Kimoprah and Tacha
Mike – Ella and Tacha
Esther – Ike and Tacha
Ike – Jeff and Diane
KimOprah – Tacha and Jackye
Sir Dee – Ella and Ike
Jackye – Jeff and Sir Dee
Gedoni – Tuoyo and Mercy
Diane – Kimoprah and Tacha
Jeff – Frodd and Esther

Ella, Tacha, Sir Dee, Frodd and Kimoprah had the highest number of nomination nods. Meanwhile, Frodd who had earlier won the veto power for the week was asked to save and replace someone. After he saved himself, Frodd shockingly, swapped Mercy in his stead!

Head of House Challenge: Jeff’s regime as head of house came to an end on Monday leaving the ‘Head of House’ position up for grabs. For the HoH challenge, the nineteen housemates were asked to pick out pebbles from a bowl of water followed by a second task of stacking up cookies. The housemates who had the highest number of cookies in stack would be declared winner.

After the housemates had been whittled down to four, Nelson broke the nail-biting tie and was crowned the second ‘Head of House’ for the Pepper Dem season! He got two hundred and fifty Bet9ja coins and a special package in his room.

Lurv in the Air: Apparently, Biggie can make wishes come true! After Khafi shared her attraction to Gedoni, guess which couple has been steaming up our screens with heated kisses?! Yup, Khadoni! The duo has been serving us couple goals and we are here for it.

And then the ‘aaawwwnn’ factor in the house went up a few notches when Tuoyo asked Biggie for flowers. Why the flowers, Biggie asked? Get ready to clutch your chest – he had developed strong feelings for a female housemate and wanted to gift her! Turns out that his ‘love interest’ is Diane.

Meanwhile, Mercy and Ike starred in the house’s lovers’ first spat when Ike picked another strategic partner instead of Mercy. Wawu! Everything is not fair in love and war o!

Birthday Week: In the middle of all that nomination tension activities in the house, Biggie decided to celebrate Thelma and Mike’s birthdays. They both got two surprise cakes from Biggie and Bet9ja to celebrate.

Tacha’s Army: Tacha’s army must take her to Aso Rock o. with the way she has been throwing her army around at every turn. Who else was shocked that she got nominated? So, let’s see how strong that army is?

Wager Gone Bad: With all the ‘I-betta-pass-my-neighbour’ that has been happening in the house, Omashola and Seyi tried to unite the housemates before the wager (everyone thinks they are the boss in the house). The peace-keeping efforts didn’t work, they lost woefully, and Biggie had a few things he wasn’t happy about too.

What were their sins? Vernacular has been reigning despite the rules; diary session gist has become corridor gossip; housemates don’t understand the meaning of freeze and have been chatting through it all. *Sigh* When Biggie vex who is going to help the housemates to beg?

The drama is only just beginning. Who will be booted out? Whose love boat will be rocked? Who will give us the Alex-dance-session that we all deserve? Who will give us the first earth-shattering controversy? Who will take the ultimate ‘pepper dem crown’?

#BBNaija: Angry Biggie blasts housemates for breaking rules

Big Brother on Thursday night blasted housemates of the 2019 ‘Pepper Dem Gang’ edition of the show for breaking the house rules.

Biggie, who was infuriated by the behavior of housemates, accused some of them of speaking different Nigerian dialects in the house.

He also stated the housemates, who were seen acting for the camera, were not being themselves as they have failed to put their egos away.

Biggie, who could not hold his anger, gave the housemates a very low mark for their drama presentation, which was their task for the day, while issuing them a stern warning to be serious with activities of the house.

He warned them against focusing on the camera and seeking unnecessary attention, adding that ‘if he wanted camera conscious housemates, he would have hired actors.

He also warned against speaking about the ‘viewers’ perception and diary sessions.”

He said: “Some of you cannot adhere to simple house rules. ‘Diary session conversations are meant to be private but you keep discussing it with your fellow housemates. You also discuss about what you think the viewers want or might like.”

“The allegations are foolish, why punish someone for sin he committed 16 years ago?” Prelate Methodist reacts to rape allegations against Fatoyinbo (video)

Prelate Methodist reacts

The Prelate of the Methodist church in Nigeria, Eminence Samuel Uche, has said that there might be no truth in the rape allegations levelled against senior pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Biodun Fatoyinbo, by Busola Dakolo.

The prelated shared his opinion on the rape allegation in a recent interview with media personality, Prisca Chiemeka.

Some accusations are foolish. For me, from my way of analysing things, there is no truth in such a thing. You say somebody raped you were 26 years or so and after 16 years years you come and report. What is wrong. Maybe you demanded money or you wanted some payment and the person did not give you, then you decide to blackmail the person.

Why do you punish somebody for a sin committed 16 years ago. Our lord Jesus Christ says any sinner that believes is forgiven. He said repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand. How do you go and tarnish the image of a man or woman who commited something from years ago. Is it relevant?

MURIC petitions Buhari to stop #BBNaija 2019 reality show immediately

MURIC petitions Buhari

The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, infuriated by the airing of the 2019 edition of the Big Brother Naija Reality Show, has petitioned President Buhari to shut it down immediately.

In a press statement issued by its Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, the Muslim group labeled the reality show as ‘immoral, dangerous and Bohemian’ and also wondered why the Ministry of Information and Culture and the National Orientation Agency are on sabbatical over the show.

They also condemned the quest for wealth by the youths, which according to them has led to immorality, yahoo-yahoo, ritual killings and a museum mentality for the collection of female panties.

The statement reads;

“We are being forcibly dragged to a world of nudity, shamelessness and open promiscuity. Inmates of BBNaija kiss, romance and engage in sex openly. BBNaija is Bohemian, anti-social, crude and immoral. It constitutes a potent danger to every home. BBNaija is Satanic. It is unacceptable.

“Where are our norms and values? Is it part of African culture to engage in sex in the open? Where are the authorities? Is the Ministry of Information and Culture sleeping? Is the National Orientation Agency on sabbatical? Who will protect our children from this despicable onslaught? Who did this to Nigeria?

“This reality show is dragging our children into a life of moral debauchery. It is robbing them of the last vestiges of honour. It is deleting the word ‘shame’ from their vocabulary. BB Naija has alienated our youth from the elders. A yawning lacuna now exists between the young and the old. Irreversible social crisis looms.

“We must see those who woo our young ones with humongous amounts of money, big cars and palatial buildings as those bent on destroying industry, diligence and integrity particularly among the youth. Nothing destroys a nation faster than materialism. The daughters of Jezebel are here already. Unless the authorities move with the speed of lightning, human dignity in Nigeria is going, going, going!

“Or do we not realize that for every single BB Naija inmate who wins big amount of money and a car, more than 50 million young people are misled? Qur’an 30:41 says, ‘Evil has appeared on both land and sea as a result of the handiworks of men…’ The Bible in Ephesians 4:19 was also describing these people when it says, ‘Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.’

“Already, the desperate quest for wealth by all means has gripped Nigerian youth like hay fever. It has railroaded them into Yahoo Yahoo, ritual killings and a museum mentality for the collection of female panties. Where exactly are we going?

“This development calls for serious concern and we are deeply concerned because we are the Muslim Rights Concern. Our hearts bleed in MURIC. This is the kind of evil that Muslim and Christian leaders should unite to fight with all their strength instead of dissipating their energy on a phantom Islamisation, a mirage called Fulanisation, Maradonic religiousity and gymnastic spirituality.

“We can put an end to this anomaly called BB Naija if Christians and Muslims bury the hatchet and come together to fight evil. Home is home. Moral debauchery knows no religion. The destructive influence of television shows like BB Naija penetrates both Christian and Muslim homes.

“Ditto for the custodians of our culture and tradition. Our traditional rulers ignore a program like this which has all the potentials to diminish the dignity of our culture. They are fighting over who should be chairman of the Council of traditional rulers. They want to be the King of kings and rivals of the Supreme Creator. Who placed a curse on Nigeria?

“Homo sapiens may not respect a single snake when they see one. But can anyone wait to see what follows if the cobra leads and it is faithfully followed by the python, the black mamba, rattle snake, garter snake and the anaconda? So what do you think will happen if our traditional rulers from the East, West and North march on Aso Rock to demand the immediate halt of this horrible show?

“To cap the edifice, MURIC calls for immediate and total ban on this satanic television show. We charge the Ministry of Information and Culture to move swiftly against BB Naija before moral debauchery becomes Nigeria’s middle name. Nigerian youth must be protected from themselves and the time to do so is now. We invite the National Assembly to intervene immediately and we appeal to traditional rulers to add their voices to this campaign.”
