The singer who was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and detained for alleged criminal offences, including internet fraud, and was granted bail days ago is still in prison custody.. and the reason is shocking.
According to unconfirmed reports, the singer whose fans declared May 30th – The day he was granted bail, as “Naira Marley Day” is yet to be released because “No Lagos state Level 10 and above civil service officer with landed properties has agreed to stand as surety for him, due to his alleged criminal records.”
Recall that the EFCC announced that evidence against him is overwhelming.
He was arrested alongside Zlatan Ibile, Rahman Jago and five others who have all been granted bail.
GTBank, Mastercard, Visa Inc representatives to testify against Naira Marley
Naira Marley’s bail was set to two million on the 30th of May, after a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos granted him bail at his bail hearing yesterday, 30th of Mary 2019.
The ruling judge, Justice Nicholas Onweibo imposed on the artiste a N2 million bail, with two sureties in like sum. The first surety must be a civil servant from the level of grade 10, while the second surety must have landed property.
The Trial has been adjourned to October 22-24 and PUNCH is reporting that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is set to present about nine witnesses in its case against the musician.
Court documents which were obtained by the correspondent of the reputable newspaper, reveal that the witnesses will give evidence of their investigation and tender exhibits, as well as reveal their findings to the court.
Some of the witnesses are believed to be GTbank, Mastercard, Visa Inc.. and they are expected to tender relevant card and account details of the defendant to the court.
Naira Marley was picked up by the commission on the 10th of May at 9 Gbangbala Street, Ikate, Lekki, Lagos, alongside Omoniiyi Temidayo, popularly known as Zlatan Ibile and three others, with the latter been granted bail 4 days later.
After Marley’s arrest, the commission filed 11 charges against the singer bordering on alleged cybercrime and identity theft.
The alleged crimes were in contravention of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act and the Cyber Crimes Act, which the artiste risks seven years in jail if found guilty.
Section 33 (2) of the Act, which Naira Marley was accused of contravening reads, “Any person who uses: a counterfeit access device; an unauthorised access device; an access device issued to another person; resulting in a loss or gain commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term of not more than seven years or a fine of not more than N5,000,000.00 and forfeiture of the advantage or value derived from his act.”

Top Nigerian entertainer, Folarin Falana aka Falz has said that his not going to church doesn’t make him any less of a Christian as he values spirituality over religion.
The rapper cum actor who released an album, ”Moral Instruction”, earlier this year in which some tracks took shots at moral decadence in the Nigerian society said this in an interview with Silverbird television.
He said: “I’m not an atheist. I believe there is a God. But I believe in spirituality over religion.”
Falz’s mother, Funmi Falana had complained about his persistence absence from church services, after his 2019 debut album was released.
“Folarin, you don’t go to church and I am bothered. I hope you would start going to church this year,” Fumi said.
However, Falz said in the interview,
“I have nothing against the church or going to church. Everyone has the right to practice the religion they desire. It has been a while that I have been to church. It does not make me less of a Christian,” Falz had said in reaction.
“The reason is that I went to a few churches and, during sermons, I was put under undue pressure. There was a time that a pastor called me to the altar just to acknowledge my presence for being in church.
“In my mind, I felt that the service was not about me. I felt that everybody was there to worship God, yet they were putting undue pressure on me. The pastor gave me the microphone to address the congregation and I was puzzled; what did he expect me to say to the congregation?”
On the criticisms that greeted the release of the album, Falz said,
“My songs are always going to be heard. The world is a lot smaller now; it only takes one post and it’s everywhere regardless of the attempts by powers that be to try to stop stuff here and there.”
“If you’re making this kind of music, you have to always be ready for the worst. Of course, ‘This is Nigeria’ was banned. We’re still in court. But I have my fundamental rights so you can’t really stop that regardless of what body you are.”

A 35-year-old man, identified as Chris Azuoma, has been arrested for attempting to abort the pregnancy of a 15-year-old girl who he got pregnant.
Activist, Harrison Emefiena Gwamnishu who shared the story online, said his team received a tip-off today that Chris brought an underaged girl to a hospital in Ogidi, Anambra state to get an abortion.
Gwamnishu said his team hurried to the hospital where they arrested Chris.

Getting to the hospital, we met the management and identified ourselves as Human rights group and they granted us permission to interview the victim. She confirmed the story and the perpetrator confessed forcefully having unprotected sexual intercourse with the victim.

Soyebo Oluwakemi, 22, has been declared missing by her family members in Lagos State. Oluwakemi’s family members say she has been missing since Monday, June 3rd.
She disappeared while she was returning home from her office.
Her brother, Sulaimon Adekunle, who solicited public help in locating his sister, said Oluwakemi works as a sales agent at a company in the Agbara axis of Lagos state and had been missing since on June 3rd.

Multiple reports from Ghana media houses are reporting the untimely death of a 49-year-old woman who died after having several bouts of sex with her younger partner who was said to be 29-years old in the Ashanti Region.
The sad incident reportedly happened at Manso Nwiniso in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.
Details of the incident, as narrated by Abusua FM, said the late woman, Yaa Boamah was a mother of six who lost her husband the previous year.
On Wednesday May 29, she brought home her bonking partner and later when the intercourse started, the children of the deceased said they heard their mother moaning after which they heard saying, ‘You are piercing me.’
Out of curiosity the children reportedly rushed to the room to see what was happening. According to reports, they found their weak mother sweating and coughing blood.
The suspect, upon seeing the children, took to his heels. She was attended to but died moments later. A report was made to the chief and the suspect was apprehended the next day.
He is currently in the custody of the Manso Adubia Police assisting in investigations into the incident. Meanwhile, the body of the widow has since been conveyed to the St. Martin’s Hospital morgue pending autopsy.
American actor, Tracy Morgan picked up a $2 million Bugatti sports car on Tuesday and then immediately got into a minor car crash on the streets of New York City.
According to a NYPD spokesperson, the department received a call around 1:20 p.m. about a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 42nd Street and Tenth Avenue in Manhattan.
“When officers got to the scene, they found two vehicles that were involved in a very minor traffic accident where two cars were basically side by side, and as the light turned green the cars touched. They rubbed slightly” the NYPD spokesperson said.
Although the damage was minor, Morgan still appeared furious at the scene. In videos going round on social media, the 50-year-old comedian is seen climbing out of his sports car and banging on the window of the silver Honda CR-V, which police said was driven by a 61-year-old woman.
“It’s a $2 million car!” Morgan can be heard telling bystanders. “Just bought it!” Morgan was seen entering an ambulance at the scene, but police said the comedian was not hurt and had merely asked to sit in the vehicle to get out of the sun and the view of the public and paparazzi.
A Nigerian man’s girlfriend has played him after he mistakenly transferred a huge sum of money to her bank account.
He wanted to gift his girlfriend the sum of N25,000 but ended up adding one more zero to the amount, making it quarter of a million he sent to her. He called her to inform her about the mistake but the lady who feels its her lucky day isn’t ready to hear any of that.
She has blocked him from communicating with her and she has also been spending the cash around Lagos.
The man intends to alert the security operatives about the development.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, June 3, 2019, arraigned one Okoroji Stanley Chinonso, a Malaysian based man, before Justice Folashade Giwa-Ogunbanjo of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
He was arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on money laundering.
Okoroji’s journey to the dock started when he was apprehended by the officers of the Nigerian Police on December 28, 2018 in Imo state for allegedly participating in an organised crime.
He was thereafter handed over to the EFCC on January 3, 2019 for further investigation and prosecution.
Count one of the charge reads,
“That you Stanley Chinonso Okoroji between 11th October 2017 and 8th October 2018 in Abuja within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court took possession of the total sum of N58,614,000.00 (Fifty Eight Million, Six Hundred and Fourteen Thousand Naira) in your Ecobank PLC account no: 5091051508, which you reasonably ought to have known to be proceeds of unlawful act to wit: participation in an organised criminal group and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 15(1)(d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011 as amended by the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2012 and punishable under section 15(3) of the same Act.”
The defendant pleaded “not guilty” to the charges. In the view of the non guilty plea, the prosecution team led by Chile Okoroma urged the court to pick a trial date and consequently remand the defendant in prison custody pending the determination of the case.
The Defence counsel, Amaka Ede, notified the court of a pending bail application that was filed and supported by a 10-paragraph affidavit. She also acknowledged the receipt of a counter-affidavit to the bail application from the prosecution. She however told the court that she has adopted her written submission on the bail application.
Presiding Judge, Giwa-Ogunbanjo, after considering both counsels’ applications and written submissions and in accordance with Section 36(5) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which states that an accused is innocent until proven guilty, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N25 million with two sureties in like some.
In addition, one of the sureties must have a landed property within FCT with evidence which must be verified while the other surety must be a federal civil servant of Grade Level 14, who must be resident within the FCT. The surety must show evidence of payment of tax which must be verified within seven working days.
Furthermore, the defendant is not allowed to leave the shores of the country; consequently, he must deposit his international passport with the Deputy Registrar of the Court. However, the judge ruled that tje defendant is to be remanded in the prison custody until his bail conditions are met.
Justice Giwa-Ogunbanjo then adjourned commencement of trial to September 25, 26 and October 22, 26, 2019.

Nollywood star, Yul Edochie is currently nursing minor injuries after he miraculously survived an accident that totally wrecked his car.

The actor-cum-politician was travelling to the eastern part of the country from Lagos when the accident occured.
Yul lost control of his car when he got to Ore and the vehicle began steering to the right. When he tried to steer it back to the right track, the car somersaulted multiple times and landed in a ditch.

I left Lagos yesterday heading to the east, just before I got to Ore doing 100-120km, my car lost control and started veering off to the right. I tried to steer it back on track and the next thing I knew I was upside down tumbling till the car finally ended up in a gutter.
Miraculously I came out alive with few cuts and bruises.

Lawyers representing the woman who accused Football Star, Neymar of rape, have dropped the case as they claimed there are many contradictions in her story.
The Lawyers who dropped Neymar’s rape accuser case, said she initially told them she had consensual sex with Neymar in a Paris hotel in May and that he then became violent and assaulted her.
The Sao Paulo-based firm, Fernandes e Abreu further disclosed that in her complaint to the police she”described what had happened as ‘rape’, which is a completely different allegation.

A man who insisted that his wife delivered her baby at home has been arrested and accused of ‘deliberate criminal negligence’.
According to reports, the man identified as Mr. Samuel Chidi, a graduate of Law from Ebonyi State University, Abakiliki, had watched his wife who had previously delivered twice though cesarean section, battle with labour pains in their room and bled to death.
“Chidi could have easily contacted a Nurse who was also living in the same compound but instead left the poor woman locked up in the room with a patent medicine dealer who, to make matters worse, administered improper injections, dragged out the baby to the ground while the husband pinned her legs down, collected the blood, the baby’s placenta and hid in his room while leaving the agonizing mother to bleed till death,”
It was gathered that the incident occurred around 11pm, and Chidi did not inform anyone in the compound or any member of the deceased family until the afternoon of the following day when a neighbour, a Nurse who came to check on Mrs. Nkechi, the late woman, learnt of the incident.
“She insisted that her corpse be deposited immediately at the morgue for proper attention while the lucky newborn baby be moved into intensive care,” the source said.
It was gathered that the family of the deceased was contacted soon after and dismayed by the negligent conduct of the man who had sworn to love, cherish and protect their daughter till death do them part, withdrew the body and proceeded to dump it in the man’s compound “for him to do with it as he had presumably purposed.”
“But for the quick intervention of members of the Nigeria Police from Kpirikpiri Station, who were on Patrol duty, got wind of the incident and prevailed on the situation.”
The corpse was returned to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki mortuary while the suspect was placed under police custody pending investigation and trial.
“The circumstances surrounding the death of Mrs. Nkechi remain largely a mystery to her neighbours and family, and the general public is hopeful that the Justice Department of the State will leave no stone unturned in their attempt to unravel it and bring those culpable to book,” a family source squealed.
