Egypt’s al-Azhar University expels female student for giving her boyfriend a “hug” after he proposed to her

Egypt’s Al-Azhar university has confirmed the expulsion of a female student after she appeared in a video hugging a male colleague, accusing her of undermining the school’s reputation.

The video, which went viral earlier this month, showed a young man carrying a bouquet of flowers kneeling before a young woman and then hugging her in what appeared to be a proposal.

The video was not filmed at Al-Azhar, but at another establishment, Mansoura University in the country’s north. Nevertheless the disciplinary council of the Al-Azhar University campus in Mansoura on Saturday “decided to expel the young girl definitively”, university spokesman Ahmed Zarie told AFP.

He said the video had caused a “public outcry” and that the university’s decision to expel her was because she had presented a “bad image” of Al-Azhar University, which strictly segregates the genders. He said hugging between unmarried men and women violates “the values and principles of society”.

The expelled student, however, can appeal the expulsion decision, Zarie said. The young man who appeared in the video could also face sanctions, a spokesman for Mansoura University said, adding that the school’s disciplinary council will meet on Monday to decide his “punishment”.

Media personality/Actress, Eku Edewor’s mum got married traditionally to her husband, Dr Victor Izegbu, in Delta state today January 12th.

An excited Eku shared photos from the wedding on Instagram and wrote :

”My Mother is a testament to the phrase that no one can define you. Not society, not your friends, not your siblings or even your parents. Our Creator is the only one that blesses our wishes, makes a road for us and lifts us when we think we have been forgotten.

My Mother and Father had a beautiful marriage yet they went their separate ways. My Mother was blessed to meet my late stepfather Uncle Peter Thomas, they were married 15 years until his death almost 10 years ago. I didn’t think it was possible to replace him as they were one.

However a few years ago, my Mother met Doctor Victor Izegbu, a man we all have fallen in love with. Today my heart is full of joy and as usual where my Mother is concerned admiration, because as per usual, her light is on, she has never let anyone dim that, and despite all odds, despite moments of near darkness, her light is shining brighter than ever!! I love you Mummy. Happy Married life to the newest couple in town, The Izegbu’s!! ♥?♥? “Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.” ~ Romans 13:8

Constant sex demand, brokenness crashed my 2nd marriage – Soul E’s ex-wife, Queen Ure

Nigerian gospel artiste, Queen Ure Okezie, has parted ways with her second husband, Pastor Silas Briyork Newman, Yes International Magazine reports.

Ure was initially married to singer turned pastor, Soul E, before they went their separate ways. She has now revealed that her second marriage crashed, less than a year after their wedding.

According to her:

“Most of you saw my wedding photos barely a year ago, I was happy, I thought that finally God had answered my prayers, a widowed pastor with 4 very young lovely kids, so Wifey and Mummy all at once. .

I packed all my load and relocated to Gwagwalada. We didn’t date, I took the chance based on recommendation as I was 45 going to 46. The guy showed me nwii as in.

If not that my father drummed it in my ear that I’m a Queen, I would have thought I was an outcaste, every month he would tell me to pack my things and go that I’m not submissive, that a good wife will submit all her money and her body.

I was submitting the body o but he wanted the thing everyday. I was not submitting the money but I was willingly and generously looking after everyone as he didn’t have any source of income. (The Church was new).

You’re wondering why I would marry a man with 4 children that doesn’t have shishi? The good values we were brought up with hasn’t left us, some of us still believe in love and small beginnings, I wasn’t desperate not at all.

Anyway onye awusa chirim onu n’ala and finally “broke the marriage” when I insisted I wouldn’t make him a director of my company nor a signatory to the account yet.

He may not be such a terrible man, just a man with a different view of marriage from mine. This was my 2nd marriage. I will now come and kill myself?

To say that I’m not heart broken I’ll be lying but to think that is the end of the world mbanu, for what? Instead of suicide, I’ll kukuma do wedding number 3.

I turned 47 last August …no child, no husband, doesn’t sound good but I’m alive and healthy, that’s a testimony. For the records I never cheated on him, never contemplated it.”

The ‘Double Wahala’ crooner says since he got married in 2017, his stunning wife, Nabilla, has stopped him from getting close to females.

“There are certain things I cannot do again because I am married. I respect my wife a lot. Though I still hang out with my male friends, I cannot do that with ladies any longer. My wife does not even allow ladies come near me. She makes it clear to them that I am her husband and they should stay away.” he said

I make N500,000 monthly doing Comedy skits — Instagram comedian Cute Abiola

Popular Indigenous Comedian, The Cute Abiola has disclosed that he make about N500,000 doing Comedy skits on the popular photo-sharing application.

The 23-year-old comic actor who is also a Naval officer noted that most of his skits were inspired by his mother’s character.

“I imitate my parents a lot in my skits, the way I dress in my skits is the exact way my mum looks in the house. I got the accent I use in my skits from them; I stayed in Ilorin for 18 years. My parents talk like real Ilorin people, my father is an extremely funny man.

I usually pick some punch lines from them to shoot my skits. “My mum taught me how to tie head gear. I love my parents so much, if I was not into comedy, I would be selling fabrics like my parents; it’s a profitable business for them. I pray I get married to a wife like my mum.

“I spend up to N15,000 monthly on data and I make close to N500,000 in a month. However, I spend some of it on charity, and as a celebrity, I spend money on clothes. My parents were very hard on me when I was growing up as the first child of the family,” he told The Punch.

The Ilorin-born comedian also revealed how he used to be frustrated at the initial stage when he started making skits.

He said,

“I used to cry when I started doing video skits because I felt I was not getting enough fame when I was doing it continuously. But I was not discouraged, even when some of my extended family members said I was wasting my time by doing skits instead of reading my books.

“I was not looking at comedy as a business venture; I was passionate about it. I get money from doing musical promotions for people; I started making money from my page towards the end of 2017.

“I started comedy during my secondary school days, with stage drama. My first stage performance was in 2009/10. When I started comedy, I couldn’t get help, but social media helped me showcase my talent with my skits.

I opened my Instagram page in 2015; I started by recording 15 seconds videos. I opened my Instagram page to have fun, but I was motivated when I saw other people doing skits. It took me two years before I gained fame. I did a video to support Bisola while she was in the Big Brother House and that was how it got reposted by her handlers; I got a lot of followers through that video.”

“I can never be depressed…I am like a virus” – Charles Okocha says

Nollywood Actor and singer, Charles Okocha, AKA “Mr. Amoshine’ who is renowned for his hyperactive comic skits and crazy videos has said he can never be depressed as he has never in his entire life experienced such.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, he said ;

“One thing I have learnt in life is that you should never let what you’re going through pull you down. Personally, I don’t let anything get to me because we all have issues. It’s not that rosy anywhere. I may be down today and up tomorrow; that’s the way of life a lot of people don’t understand it that way.

“You may have marital crisis but you shouldn’t let that weigh you down. If you have a relationship that is not going well or any other thing that is affecting you negatively, try to distance yourself from it. You should put God first so that you can overcome these issues. I don’t see anything that can ever get me depressed.

“I am always a happy fellow and you would never find me around negative people. The moment you are negative, I cut you off because that’s where depression comes from. Not everybody wants to see you happy and doing well; they just want to see you down and frustrated so they have something to gossip about.

“That’s why when someone dies in this part of the world, people start writing flowery condolences, but they didn’t care for the person while alive.”

Yorubas should vote for Buhari to honour my father – Abiola’s son

Son of the winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief Moshood Abiola, Jamiu said the Yoruba should vote massively for President Muhammadu Buhari to honour his father.

Jamiu, who is a member of the Directorate of Contact and Mobilisation of the Women and Youth Presidential Campaign Team, described Buhari as a detribalised leader, Sunday Punch reports.

Speaking with journalists in Lagos, Jamiu said Buhari should not be described anywhere as tribalistic, adding that if he was, he would not have honoured his father 25 years after the annulment of the election.

He urged the Yoruba to reelect Buhari on February 16 so as not to betray Abiola and his slain wife, Kudirat, in their graves.

He said:

“People have to understand that any man that can honour a victory won by another man from another tribe is not a tribalist. If he was tribalistic, he would not have done what he did to M.K.O Abiola.

“Buhari had even said in the letter of honour that June 12 is more important than the Independence Day, Nigerians should understand that and I believe that the Yoruba that I know will not betray Chief M.K.O Abiola in his grave by voting against a man who honoured him.

“The Yoruba are known to appreciate and value anybody who genuinely does something good for them genuinely.’’

My wife doesn’t allow ladies near me — Oritsefemi says.

In an encounter with Sunday Scoop, Oristsefemi admitted that there were certain things he could before he got married but he is not capable of doing anymore immediately after he got wedded.

He said, “There are certain things I cannot do again because I am married. I respect my wife a lot. Though I still hang out with my male friends, I cannot do that with ladies any longer. My wife does not even allow ladies come near me. She makes it clear to them that I am her husband and they should stay away.”

Actors flaunting wealth on Instagram are misleading young ones – Actor Dele Odule

Veteran actor, Dele Odule, has advised other actors against flaunting wealth on Instagram, with the belief that it misleads the younger generations.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Dele Odule believes that there are many actors in Nollywood who really have no business being in the industry.

“People like that are not in the business because they have passion for it. They are just looking for where to make ends meet. A trained actor will never run after material wealth. I am not saying that acting cannot open doors; it actually does.

However, a true actor will take material things as secondary; the priority is to get your message across to the viewers. The problem we are facing is that the industry is not sanitised. If there was a standard, many of those people you see who are all about flaunting material things on social media wouldn’t be in the industry.

What is the essence of going on social media to flaunt cars and other items? You would see many actresses dancing around on social media; even when they get pregnant, they flaunt it. Buying a car shouldn’t be a big deal but they make it seem as if it is.”

Commenting on the effect such acts would have on young ones, Dele said,

“They are passing a wrong message to the young ones out there who will have a warped impression of the industry.”

Drawing a line between following politicians for pecuniary gains and for the good of the country, the former TAMPAN president said,

“Somebody who is serious-minded and creative would not run after any politician. That is not to say that actors don’t have the constitutional right to follow whoever they like.

However, you have to follow rightly. You have to know the reason you are following the person. (Hubert) Ogunde followed Awolowo and we all know that the latter was a politician who did a lot for his people.

But now, actors just follow politicians because of money. I don’t really like to talk about this because some people may feel that I am talking this way because I have not had the privilege to mingle with such people. I have the opportunity but my passion for the industry is beyond unnecessary things.”

Lady Arrested After Being Abandoned By Her Boyfriend In A Hotel.

The boyfriend identified as Collins Moi, was said to have sneaked out of the hotel last Saturday, leaving his lady behind in Kitale city, Kenya.

Hotel administrators said they had no choice but to detain her until the Sh100,000 bill is cleared. According to Skynest Hotel management, Collins and his girlfriend Marsha Amario checked in on December 29 at 5pm and booked themselves in for six days as part of her birthday celebrations.

By the next day the bill had shot up to Sh9,000 and they were advised to make some payments but they did not heed. “We tried to engage Collins to pay the bill when it was manageable but he responded that he will pay the following day,” said Mr Timothy Simiyu, a manager at the hotel.

After five days, when the hotel management told him to sort out the bill before being provided more services he sneaked out of the hotel leaving the girlfriend stranded.

Last Saturday, he was called by the management and he said he was at Kabarak and that they should treat his girlfriend right as he was sourcing for funds to clear the bill by the following day. The promise was not fulfilled.

Last Tuesday, Marsha called via the hotel phone and he said he was still at Kabarak and that he would send a friend but that didn’t happen.

On Wednesday, he was said to have been unavailable on phone when his girlfriend tried to reach him.

Without any response, the management called the police on Thursday. Marsha was arrested and taken to Kitale Police Station and held overnight.

“He looked like a responsible person. He had so many friends who had surrounded him at the hotel and he bought so many expensive drinks for them,” Mr Simiyu said.

At the station, Ms Marsha said she did not expect her boyfriend to abandon her after bringing her all the way from Nairobi. “He told me he was taking me to Kitale since he had a birthday surprise for me. All along I knew he was the one paying for everything only to find myself in this situation,” she lamented.

On Thursday, Trans Nzoia West police boss Jackson Mwenga confirmed she would be arraigned.

However, she was released Friday following intervention from a senior member of the Moi family who was said to have promised to clear the bill.
