Nigerian Singer, Orezi who faced severe criticism few days ago for allegedly burning the N1,000 note in a new promotional photo, has denied burning the Nigerian currency.
Orezi who released the picture to promote his new music, Born Broke Die Rich, was slammed by social media users who felt it was disrespectful to Nigeria and the country’s legal tender.
However Orezi has denied burning the Nigerian currency in a new interview with Saturday Beats, said it was an edited picture.
“I never burnt the N1,000 note like people thought, it was just graphics; an edited picture. I did not burn the Nigerian currency. If you look at the picture, you would see that the fire almost got to my eyes. If it were real, I would not have been able to withstand the heat. I cannot allow fire to burn my eyes because I want to take a picture. I replied some comments when people were criticising me because of the picture.
“I told them that it was an artistic paper and I did not burn the Nigerian currency. Why would I burn money to promote my music? A lot of my fans also tried to explain to those that were abusing me that it was an edited picture, but they would not listen. Some people went as far as saying that they would arrest me because it is against the law, but I did not burn the money. It is not everything that you can explain to people; sometimes you just have to keep quiet” he said.

Some Nigerians in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have reacted to the strange drift of women making marriage or relationship proposals to their male counterparts.
They expressed mixed views over the trend in separate with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
They noted that although the development was alien to Nigeria’s culture, but it was becoming trendy in recent times due to increasing influence of western lifestyle, modernisation and pressure to get married.
According to some Nigerians, women who make marriage proposals to men should be applauded for their confidence, rather than ridiculed, condemned or labeled “desperate’’.
However, others said they were against the trend, adding that such proposals have been and should remain the sole responsibility of the man.
Mr Abdul Sarki of Garki 2 said : “Some men of marriageable age delay proposing to ladies they love due to indecisiveness, poor financial status and other economic realities.
“Thank God for modernisation, women are not restricted to seek what they want, and even asking men to marry them when they feel they are suitable ”.
“The society should stop judging or condemning women that propose marriages to men, but rather applaud and encourage them for taking the bold step,’’ he urged.
Mrs Julie Fadason, a resident in Asokoro said she proposed to her husband due to age factor and the need to start bearing children before menopause.
“I had to take the bull by the horn when I felt no marriage proposal was forthcoming despite being in a relationship for over five years with my husband.
” We were both not getting younger and we needed to act fast since we both wanted children,” she said.
According to her, they have been married for over 10 years now, and she has no regrets for taking the initiative to propose to him.
Similarly, Mrs Jummy Okewole, a mother of two, said she was advised to propose to her husband four years ago by some friends and close relatives.
” As at the time we were dating, he had no stable job, but had prospects and was responsible that was why I heeded to advise from people close to me and proposed to him.
“Now, God has blessed him with a very good job, that he has even asked me to resign from my work and opened a business for me.”
Okewole, therefore stressed that financial status should not be used as a yardstick for Marriage proposal, rather love and loyalty should be considered.
Mrs Jummai Adamu, said she was under a lot of pressure from her family and close friends that was why she proposed to her husband.
” Even though we have talked about settling down in the future, but my family and some friends contributed in making me to propose to my husband.
“Two of my younger sisters were already planning for their wedding, and they wanted me as the eldest to settle down before them.
“That was why I asked him to marry me or else I will settle down with another suitor, ”she said.
However, Miss Joy Obaseki, a spinster living in Karu said she could not make a marriage proposal to a suitor despite its growing trend in modern societies.
“I can not, because he might not respect me in future, especially when we have misunderstandings.”
Similarly, Mr Anthony Adams a resident of Jabi said as a man it was his responsibility to propose to a woman and not the other way round.
“I feel that makes me less of a man because I am the one to take care of her and our children, so I will propose when I am ready.
“Since she is not paying the dowry, why would she make the marriage proposal?’’ he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that some female have recently taken the bull by the horn by proposing to their partners, like Judge Judy, a American TV courtroom personality.
Another example is Alecia Moore, popularly known as Pink, an American singer who proposed to her husband Carey Hart in June 2005.

Meanwhile, JJC has explained why he got married to the actress.
JJC Skillz said he approached Akindele in 2012 after he had a dream that he would get married to the actress.

A suspected bandit identified simply as Ifeanyi, on Wednesday, escaped being lynched after allegedly being caught stealing ladies panties at a student area in Mgbakwu, Anambra State.
The suspect, from Umuneke, Enugu State, confessed that he had already stolen over 58 women panties before running out of luck.
It was gathered that Ifeanyi had broken into the house around 2 am and was harvesting the underwear, when a lady, who came out to urinate, saw him and raised alarm.
The suspect revealed that he usually sold the underwear to one Emeka Ofor at the rate of N500 in Enugu State. However, after being thoroughly beaten, Ifeanyi was later freed.
Nigerian Singer, Dbanj and his wife Lineo Didi decided to chill off by spending a nice time in the neighbouring country of Ghana. They were, however, not alone as Famous singer 2Baba and his wife Annie Idibia also embarked on the trip.

Embattled Senator, Dino Melaye who was earlier today whisked away from the Police clinic in Garki, Abuja, has been moved at the SSS medical center.
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Jimoh Moshood, said Dino was taken away from the Police Clinic to the SSS medical center after they both disagreed on his fitness to face trial. The police had visited Dino on Wednesday January 9th in their clinic and asked that he be discharged so he can face trial but Dino refused, saying he still needed time to recover fully.
Recall that he slumped at the police headquarters last Friday January 4th after he surrendered to the police. Dino is wanted for questioning by the police for allegedly instructing his thugs to shoot at a police officer in Kogi state in July 2018.
Popular Dwarf model Fatima Timbo, who is just 4 feet tall has said dwarfism poses no challenge to her and she would not allow negativity to define her.
The 21 year old British model spoke to BBC News recently about building her confidence as well as her work in inspiring others to feel comfortable in their own skin.
Timbo said she would not allow negative comments get to her or stop her from promoting body positivity for people with dwarfism.
“I won’t be defined by my height,” she says.
Timbo says she can’t change the way she looks or what people say about her – but she has changed the way she looks at herself.
She said modelling boosted her confidence, and now she wants to inspire others to feel comfortable in their own skin.
Timbo admitted that she felt that her height had no limit and as such the sky was her limit, has already built lots of fan base for herself as a budding Instagram model.

Senator Dino Melaye has been allegedly whisked away from the Police Clinic in Garki, Abuja, by masked persons suspected to be policemen.
According to Punch, Melaye was whisked away from the hospital this afternoon at about 2.15pm in a commando style.
Dino was rushed to the hospital last Friday January 4th after he surrendered to the police. Recall that the police had laid seige around Dino’s home in Abuja after the senator failed to honor their invitation.
A statement from the police said Dino failed to respond to repeated invitation for questioning on allegations that himself and his thugs fired gunshots at a police officer in Kogi state in July 2018.
There are speculations that he is currently being taken to Kogi state where he would be questioned by the police and if possible arraigned in court.
Although the Police had insisted that the lawmaker was fit to stand trial for his alleged culpability in the shooting of an officer, Melaye had said he needed more time to recuperate.

The oldest footballer in the world Kazuyoshi Miura, has extended his contract with Yokohama FC by one year.
Miura, who turns 52 next month has extended his deal with the Japanese second division club which will see him play his 33rd season.
The striker has been at the club since 2005 when he signed at aged 38 and has gone on to make over 200 league appearances.
Speaking to Kyodo news agency, Miura claimed he still wishes to grow as a player, 33 years after turning professional.
Miura said:
“I will always play my heart out and hope to continue to grow (as a player).”
The top division of Japanese football, J League, was formed in 1993 and Miura is the only active player who was playing when it was formed.
In 1982, at age 15 Miura left Japan for Brazil where he would go on to sign his first professional contract with Santos in 1986.
The forward spent four seasons in Brazil, with Santos, Palmeiras, Matsubara, CRB, XV de Jaú, and Coritiba before returning to Japanese football with Verdy Kawasaki.
In Japan he reached goal scoring heights such as beating imports Gary Lineker and Zico to the top scorer and MVP of the inaugural Japanese J.League season in 1993.

The rapper and outspoken advocate for the LGBT community, Kevin Fret, has been shot dead in Puerto Rico aged 24.
The musician, described as Latin Trap music’s first openly gay artist, was killed in the capital San Juan on Thursday morning.
Fret was shot at eight times while riding a motorbike in the street, and he was hit in the head and hip. His death brings the number of murders in Puerto Rico this year to 22.

The relationship between Amazon billionaire and his mistress, TV host Lauren Sanchez, has been going on long before Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie decided to divorce.
Jeff, 54, and Lauren’s relationship involved private jet rendezvous, intimate dinners and sleepovers at each other’s marital homes, it has been claimed. They also stayed in hotels together, including one in Boston hours after the rest of the Bezos family had left the hotel.
It was claimed the family was in town to attend Bezos’ son’s graduation from MIT. While they were at the ceremony, Sanchez, it is claimed, was put in a room in the same hotel where they were occupying a private suite. Once the family left, Bezos is reported to have stayed and loved-in with Sanchez until the following day.
The National Enquirer magazine followed the love birds for four months after snapping Lauren Sanchez and her sister getting off Bezos’ private jet in October. The Enquirer claims that Bezos only announced his divorce on Wednesday morning because he knew they were about to expose his affair with Sanchez.
The magazine also alleges that Jeff Bezos desperately tried to stop them from running its series of photographs which document their affair, and he even asked one friend: ‘Can’t I buy the story from them?’
MacKenzie, Jeff Bezos’ wife of 25 years, uncovered the affair between her husband and Lauren Sanchez when she looked at her husband’s plane’s flight manifest and found Sanchez’s name was the only one on the passenger list.
According to the Enquirer’s sources, Bezos is ‘in love’ with Sanchez and has told her:
We don’t have to worry about the parachute opening because we are jumping together.

In addition to shirtless photographs he took standing in front of mirrors, including one in a steamy room where the magazine claims he was wearing just a towel, he also sent Sanchez an ‘unsparing’ photograph of his genitals which it said was too graphic to publish.

Many of his victims who are now full grown adults appeared in the documentary to share what they suffered while in a relationship with the singer. One of such is Andrea Kelly, the singer’s wife.
His daughter Joanne “Buku Abi” Kelly has finally broken her silence concerning the allegations. According to her, they also suffered their own fair share of abuse as his kids.

I just want everyone to know that I do care and I love you all. This is a very difficult subject to speak on… again, I apologize if my words don’t come out right..”
She concluded by thanking her family and followers for their support during this hard times.

She has now swiped aim at someone on Instagram, and apparently, we think it’s for Davido. She said;

This mild drama is coming just months after the singer appreciated all the women in his life in his track ‘Wonder Woman’
It seems as though Tonto Dikeh may have found love again.
The actress gave a hint after she shared a caption with a photo on her Instastory.
The caption reads; “11 hours flight, But all we can think about is how much we miss step daddy!! Our lives changed meeting you”
This is coming after Dikeh came for her ex-husband.
The drama started after a troll hopped on the actress’ Instagram page to shame her for being a single mother.
“Go back to your husband and stop disgracing your lineage and generations,” said the uncouth troll. To which Dikeh responded with a scathing one-sentence diss, inadvertently questioning Churchill’s sexuality.
“You can have him. Just shave your butt well,” she said, adding, “Goodluck.”
The former couple had tried and failed in being civil to each other ever since their much-publicised and longwinding breakup drama.
For weeks, they had yet to make potshots at each other, until Tonto Dikeh’s response to this troll.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Thursday said the ongoing strike would not be called off until the Federal Government fully implemented all the offers it made to the union after their last meeting.
The public university lecturers said they were tired of Federal Government’s antics of making unfulfilled promises, insisting that the strike would be called off after they got tangible evidence and concrete actions that the offers made to them by the Federal Government had been implemented.
The National President, ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, in an exclusive interview with one of our correspondents in Lagos on Thursday, said the team of the union that met with the government on Tuesday did not reach any agreement with the Federal Government.
Asked when the strike would then be called off, Ogunyemi said, “Our members said they want to see evidence of satisfactory implementation of all they have proposed before the strike can be called off.”
On Tuesday, ASUU met with the Federal Government officials including the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, as well as his Labour and Employment counterpart, Chris Ngige.
After their discussions, Ngige explained what the Federal Government was offering to the union.
He said the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Ministry of Finance had confirmed with evidence that N15.4bn had been released to public universities.
But ASUU president recalled that last year, the government promised to release funds for the revitalisation of public universities, which was one of the demands of the union, but failed to do so.
Ogunyemi stated, “As for the proposal, it can be disaggregated. There are items there that require implementation. If they are setting up a committee on state universities, and they actually do, it is not something we need to agree on. It is about action.
“If they have implemented it, it is off the list. If the government says it will pay a shortfall of salaries on a certain date, and the date comes and they release the money, it is also implementation. There is no agreement on the matter.
“On the revitalisation fund, we presented to the government that five tranches of N220bn each were outstanding. The government has not said it will release one, even if it is spread over a period of one year. There is no agreement on that. What they are offering is not even up to one tranche.
“Last year, they promised to release the fund but they did not till November when the strike began. Long story short, our members are saying they do not want promises again, what they want is action, implementation or disbursement of funds. The government must act in a way to convince the union that agreement has not been set aside; to show that government has not set aside the agreement, they should release one tranche.”
He explained that in order to forestall a situation ASUU and the government would restart negotiations on arrears of earned academic allowances, both sides agreed that “it would be mainstreamed into the 2019 budget.”
According to him, such an agreement was reached last year, but he said the government failed to honour it.
Ogunyemi stated, “We are going to have a discussion on when to commence renegotiation because there are still grey areas. If the government can substantially address these issues, we will be more confident to face our members on the way forward. For now, the feeler we are getting is that our members do not actually want to accept this government proposal from us.
“They said they would pay the shortfall of salary arrears of what was removed from workers’ salaries. There are 20 universities identified. The money will be available by January 18. It is around the corner and we will see if it will come.”
Aduke Akinsanya, a daughter to a chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Worker (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, has debunked rumours making the rounds on social media that her father is dead.
MC Oluomo was stabbed during the rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) earlier this week.

However, reacting to the development, Aduke who studies International Business Administration in Estonia took to her Instagram page to dispel the death rumours trailing her father.

Big Brother Naija 2019 is set to hold after the country’s 2019 Election and Inauguration. According to officials, they do not want the show to be mixed up in politics in any way.
Last year, Big Brother Naija Reality TV show kicked off in January, with it auditions in November, same with 2 years ago.. But right now, for some reasons there has been an unusual silence about the show this year.
According to multiple reports, the show has been put on hold due to the forthcoming general elections in February.
A source from Payporte confirmed that the show will still hold this year, speaking to LI, they said; ‘Big Brother will still hold but because its a political year, we can’t really control to what extent what the housemates will say in the house and we dont want it to become a tool that will heat up the polity’.
The source went on to add that, ‘the show itself normally gets twisted so we don’t want to mix it up with politics in anyway. Its supposed to be entertaining, we wouldn’t want it to be divisive in anyway. If you notice, no religious activity gets discussed in the house too, if you want to pray you can pray, we don’t want anyone to be forced to do it or divide Nigerians along those lines. So after the elections and inaugurations, it’ll happen’.
The last edition of the show kicked off on January 28, 2018 and wrapped up in April with Miracle Ikechukwu emerging winner of the hotly contested reality show.
