Three people lost their lives with 15 others injured in a road accident that happened on the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway.
The Enugu State Police Command, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed this in a statement on Friday.
Ebere Amaraizu said the accident occurred on Thursday at Ogbaku community in Awgu Local Government area of Enugu State on Thursday by 7pm.
Amaraizu said that all the dead were women, adding that the accident involved a Mercedez Benz Bus with the registration number ENU 350XZ and a Toyota Hummer Bus registered as XB 205 XPR.
He said that the remains of the dead had been deposited at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu while the injured had been receiving treatment in the hospital.

Family of late former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Vice Marshal, Alex Badeh, have refuted claims by a suspect in custody of the Police that the late Military Chief was killed while they were attempting to rob him of huge sums of money.
A leaked video that went viral on social media last night showed the suspect saying that he and his brother planned the robbery because they learnt that the late Badeh was conveying huge cash to buy a parcel of land in Nasarawa state.
The suspect said that they had only planned to rob the late Badeh, but when his car tried to run them over, they dodged and then opened fire which led to his death. However, the family countered the claim by the suspect, saying that the late Military Chief did not even have up to N500 cash on the day that he was killed.
The family insisted that contrary to the claim, Badeh did not discuss any issue about the acquisition of land. They described the confessions of the suspect as a “cook-up story to deceive the public and hide the killers and their intentions.
The family spoke with Vanguard Newspapers at the residence of the late Chief of Air Staff in Abuja to react to the claim by the suspected killers.
The family delegated only one member to speak on the condition that his or her name will not be mentioned in the report.
“We called you here because we have been following your report in Vanguard since our son and brother, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, was killed by yet-to-be identified people.
“We are not happy with the report being put out to the public there on the circumstances that led to his death.
“We as a family, believe that some people responsible for his death want to deceive the public by hiding the facts of what happened, how it happened and those responsible.
“I want to emphatically tell you here that contrary to the claim that he went to his farm on the fateful day with huge amount of money to buy additional farmland, there was nothing like that.
“In fact, he had no money on him that day, not even N500 in the vehicle. “As I told you, no money, I repeat, no money was in that vehicle. Not even N500 was in that vehicle on that day he was killed.
“I repeat that no N500 not even N1000 was in that motor he drove that he was killed that day.
“Before his death, a villager who knew he was on the farm that day went to meet him to get money to buy paracetamol tablet for his headache he could not afford the money for him. Instead, he asked the person if he could go to Panda Market.
“When the man said he could, our brother told him to pick 10 mudus (measured quantity) of maize to sell in the market and buy drug for himself, saying that was the only help he could render to him since he had no cash to give out.
“He took time to narrate to the person that as he was talking to him, there was a huge refuse dump at his house in Abuja and the people responsible for packing it, that is the Abuja Environmental Protection Board, had refused to do so because he had no money to pay for the packing.
“He added that his cook and the cleaner in his house had not been paid, explaining further that those were the reasons he went to farm on that day to pick some bags of harvested maize, like 100 bags, to sell so as to raise money to settle those issues.
“Again, he told his workers on the farm that since they have blocked his pension, his only source of getting money, only three out of the eight working for him can remain as he wouldn’t have money to pay all the eight anymore.
“He said ‘I’m sorry to tell you this but this is the reality, I can only retain three workers now, the five of you have to go so that I won’t be owing you salaries. He said I can be selling maize and be paying salary for the three that I will retain.
“He did not have N500 on that day they killed him, I swear to God. All this you are hearing is a cook-up story.
“He went to farm to pick some bags of corn to sell so that he could raise money to pay the workers on the farm, the cook and cleaner in the house as well as for the packing of refuse dump here in the house.
“You can see the huge refuse dump here near the wall. If you see this refuse, they had to shift it from this wall closer to the primary school there because of the odour oozing out from the waste bins. You can see the dustbins there (pointed to it). “So where did they get the information they released to the public from?”
Miss Congo emerged winner last night at the Miss Africa 2018 beauty pageant and shortly after she won, her wig caught fire on stage.
24-year-old Dorcas Kasinde beat other contestants to win the crown. Miss Nigeria came second while Miss Zambia came third.
As Miss Congo celebrated her victory and hugged her predecessor, her wig caught fire. Thankfully, Ebuka came to her rescue before more damage could be done.
It is believed the fire was caused by the stage flame positioned at various corners on the stage but Social media users have jokingly blamed the incident on Calabar witches
The Fire was however put out immediately and she wore her crown like a true queen.
Davido’s concert held in Lagos last night, and apart from the expected thrills and fun, there are many reports of some ugly scenes that occurred when Kizz Daniel’s manager, Tumi Lawrence got slapped at the backstage.

When I looked back, It was Davido and his guys asking ‘who be dis one, who be dis one’ and they told them, ‘na Kizz Daniel manager’ before I knew it they poured drink on my face and slapped me
‘first they poured drinks on my face before the slap landed and I immediately saw stars and I saw one black guy but people around were saying it was David himself but I can’t verify that because if dem slap you na stars you go dey see.

The police in Abia state have arrested a 19-year-old man after he allegedly stabbed his neighbor’s daughter identified as Kamsy, to death at their neighborhood situated along Port-Harcourt road in Aba, Abia State on Monday December 24th.
The suspect had taken the little girl identified as Kamsy on a stroll in their neighborhood. There he stabbed the little girl twice on her stomach. The child later died of her injuries in the hospital.
The suspect was immediately apprehended by residents of the area and codeine was allegedly found in his pocket after a search was conducted on him.

A suspect arrested by the Police has spoken on how Alex Badeh was killed.
The suspect identified himself as Shaibu and he spoke in Hausa Language while being paraded by the Police.
The translation of his confession was however provided by a user of twitter who wrote that Shaibu and his accomplices had only wanted to rob the former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, of some money they believed he was carrying with him in the car.
He wrote:
His name is Shaibu from Barde. his elder brother Ciroma came from the market and told him that he got intel that old soldier(Badeh) has bought another land and would be coming to make payment so so day. They decided to waylay him and collect the money.
Those that had arms blocked the car in front while the others followed them from behind in case they try to turn. Badeh’s driver opted to charge through and ciroma opened fire on them. They opened the car and saw a lot of cash but the guy cannot confirm how much was inside.

Ahmad Sani, a 32-year-old suitor has prayed a Sharia Court in Magajin Gari in Kaduna State, to help him recover the N340,000 he allegedly paid as dowry to his would-be in-law.
Sani told the court that the would be father-in-law, Alhassan Malam, should return his money because his daughter has refused to marry him. The complainant said he had sought Sumayya Malam’s hand in marriage from her father, who gave his consent and demanded N20,000 as dowry, excluding other traditional expenses.
Sani said he was shocked when Malam cancelled the wedding due to “my alleged inability to provide a decent shelter for his daughter. After paying the dowry and other traditional expenses which amounted to N340,000, I took her daughter to the house I rented, but I later learnt that she didn’t like the house,” he said.
He prayed the court to help him recover all the money he spent for the failed marriage since the defendant had refused him to marry his daughter.
Counsel to the defendant, Alhassan Aliyu, argued that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear a case involving the recovery of money over N100,000 as stipulated by Section 22 of the Sharia law, Kaduna state. Aliyu prayed the court to transfer the case to an upper Sharia court or dismiss the case. The Judge, Malam- Dahiru Lawal, transferred the case to an Upper Sharia court for lack of jurisdiction

A young Air Force Officer, Val Monfort Sixtus, was, shot dead on Boxing Day by a policeman in Calabar, Cross River State.
The unfortunate incident reportedly happened around 10am at Unity Bank ATM stand along Marian Road, Calabar. Confirming the news, on Thursday, the Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo, said:
“Yes, we are aware of the incident.
The Police Officer that was posted to the bank as point of duty, was sitting down when all of a sudden he heard some noise from the ATM Machine stand.
So, his duty as a Police Officer was to go there and find out what was really happening. When he got there, he was trying to interfere and he was like what is happening here?
All of a sudden, the whole crowd attacked him, so, he released a bullet which went straight to an Air Force Officer. Although, he didn’t know, because they were not on uniform.
They actually attacked him, they slapped the Policeman first before he released the bullet.
Investigation is on and if we find that truly he was at fault, of course we will leave no stone unturned in discipline.”

A Nigerian man chopped off the hand of his blood brother’s hand in self defense, during a fight on Christmas Day in Otatubu, Bayelsa state.
The photo being circulated on social media shows a man with half his arm chopped off and, according to reports, his brother is responsible.
Although the cause of their misunderstanding is unknown, it was gathered that the victim had picked up a knife to stab the suspect, however, he ended up losing his hand as his brother got hold of a cutlass and chopped it off.
According to reports, one of the brothers allegedly held a small knife with which he attempted to stab his brother. He wasn’t successful and his brother, in anger, went to get a cutlass with which he chopped off his brother’s hand.
The injured brother was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Walter Masocha, a UK-based Zimbabwean pastor, was once in the news for allegations of sexually molesting his members. Now, he has allegedly taken his crimes closer to home.
According to UK-based writer Jean Gasho, Walter Masocha was exposed after his son-in-law allegedly discovered explicit messages and nude pictures that his wife had been allegedly sending to her own father.
He then took this incriminating evidence to his mother-in-law, Judith. Judith is reported to have confronted the pastor and he allegedly confessed to having had an incestuous relationship with his daughter. Judith is now reported to be divorcing her pastor husband for having sex with his child.
In a statement, one of the leaders of the church, Francis Aturia said that Masocha was stepping down due to a “serious moral fall”.

Sadly, as a result, we would like to inform you all that Dr.Walter Masocha has with immediate effect taken leave of absence in order to deal with a serious moral fall which he has informed his family, the Board of Trustees and the Commissioners.
He is broken hearted and distraught at the result of the misdemeanours and feels that he is not fit to continue as Spiritual Leader of Agape.
This has come as a significant shock and blow to Dr Judith and the family, and no doubt to many Agape children and other people worldwide.
A full investigation will be conducted in due time, and the appropriate disciplinary action shall be taken.
Many on hearing this will be deeply shocked and disturbed by such a disappointing revelation. We implore you to remember most especially, his gracious wife, Dr Judith and consider a Christ-like response to all who are involved at every level of the church family.
We would like to kindly ask you to remember him and his family in your prayers. In view of the fact that he is on leave from his official role, we would like to ask you all at this time to avoid contacting him. We also urge you to avoid contacting Dr Judith and the family in respect of their privacy at this difficult time.
At this time, we encourage prayer fuelled with loving action to support one another and keep our focus on our Lord Jesus Christ who by His Holy Spirit is the only one that will enable the current tragedy to be worked out ultimately for His own glory somehow, sometime.
