The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC today Monday 22nd October, 2018 arraigned One Ishak Abubakar popularly known as Mai Rakumi, before honorable Justice Lewis Allagoa of the Federal High Court Kano on four count charge bordering on possession fake USA Dollars.
He was arrested by a team of NDLEA operatives during a raid conducted at his residence located at number 2230 Goron Dutse area of kano state. During the raid, 176 pieces of of one hundred denomination of fake American Dollars was found.
Another sum of N75, 000.00 (Seventy Five Thousand Naira) only, 2 international passports, five GSM phones and one digital radio were recovered.
After interim investigation, the NDLEA officers handed the defendant over to the EFCC in view of the fact that his offence was financial crime in nature.
In the course of investigation into the activities of the defendant, the EFCC operatives discovered that he is a popular native doctor who engages in Babalawo activities in Kano.
Before the plea of the defendant could be read, prosecution counsel, Samuel Chime informed the court that there was an application before the court for plea bargain as guided by the Administration of criminal Justice Act 2015.
Subsequently both counsels met and adopted the terms and condition as contained in the plea bargain agreement.
Consequently, prosecution counsel applied orally for the striking out of count 3 and 4 and urge the court to read court 1 and 2 to the defendant for the purpose of his plea.
After listening to the charge, Mai-Rakumi pleaded guilty to the two count charge. The facts of the case were reviewed and being fully satisfied with the outcome, Justice Allagoa adjourned the matter to November 8, 2018 for judgment and sentence.
One of the charge read that “you Abubakar Ishaq on or about 11th October 2017 at Kano within the Kano judicial division of the federal high court, had in your possession 146 pieces of counterfeit and 100 United State of American Dollars Bills each with serial number HL21189273F knowing same to be counterfeit and thereby committed an offence contrary to to section 5 (1)(b) of the counterfeit (currency special provision) Act. and punishable under section 5 of the Act.

Jack and Jace Grafe, now 23 and originally from Baltimore, Maryland, started life as Jaclyn and Jennifer in June 1995, growing up in a conservative Christian home.
But despite being brought up in a happy household, the brothers admit they cried themselves to sleep as children and prayed to wake up as boys, not understanding what it meant to be transgender.
Jack, a deputy sheriff’s officer, said: ‘As a kid I would cry and pray to God that I would wake up in a male body, not even understanding that being transgender was a thing. “It’s like being in prison except it’s in your own body,” Jack told Fox5Atlanta. “And the older I got, the harder it was to swallow. And I was like, can’t do this for the rest of my life, I just can’t do it.”

Nigeria’s minister for Transport, Rotimi Amaechi has revealed that the Abuja-Kaduna rail line cannot run faster than 90Km/hr because the ministry does not want locomotives to kill cows.
Amaechi made this comment while speaking on the complications the Nigerian government faces while making concessions.
“The reason why we want to go back to narrow gauge is because between Lagos and Kano, we have 30 million tonnes of cargo. Even if you do three rail lines, it cannot be enough.
It took us 14 days to move coaches from Lagos to Abuja; everyday we go and ask, how far, they say we are near Ogun state… 14 days.
But if it were rail, the same day, it will get to Abuja. The kind of construction we are doing is 120 kilometers per hour (Km/h), it is a speed train.
We are doing 90km/h with Abuja to Kaduna, the reason we are doing 90km/h is because there are cows everywhere, and we don’t want to kill cows. The other day they tried 100 and they killed how many cows, and they said ‘you people should replace the cows you killed.
From that day, I have said let us maintain the 90km/h; at 120km/h you get to Kaduna in one hour. You can work in Kaduna and live in Abuja. It was initially one, but now, we have done four locomotives with 14 coaches.”
Following credible intelligence gathering, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted a container full with imported soup (stew) and some other edible items worth N27, 960,000 from China.
The container, sighted at one of the Nigerian ports, was intercepted by the CGC Strike Force team, as a result of information provided by the Customs Intelligent Unit (CIU) of the Service.
Addressing newsmen in Lagos, Deputy Comptroller and National Coordinator, Comptroller General Strike Force, Abdullahi Kirawa said the system has degenerated to the level that Nigerians are now importing stew into the country. .
He bemoaned that the pots of stew and other edible items imported, which could not be identified as a result of Chinese Language written on their packs could pose serious dangers to human health.
He added: “Nigerians are hard-working people known for our marvelous delicacies. How can someone import stew into the country? The stew was carefully conceived inside the container.
I will advise that Nigerians should ignore egocentrism and embrace ethnocentrism. .
Our quest for foreign goods and items must be discouraged and we must work hard to embrace and patronise home made goods, including our delicious stew that are prepared from our homes and not engage in this type of business.

Friday Udoaka, the Principal of Government Technical College, Abak, Akwa Ibom State, has apologized for flogging a female corps member in the school, Olaitan Adeola Kolawole.
Udoaka apologized at the NYSC state office, yesterday, in Uyo. He said he did not deliberately flog Kolawole, noting that he used the cane on her out of anger. The victim was said to have written the name of her friend, Dolapo Victoria in the attendance register of the school on Friday, October 19, 2018, when Dolapo was absent.
The principal who has just three years to retire from service was said to have flogged Kolawole for the “misdeamour” and dragged her outside the classroom in front of the students.
“No man is perfect, I have not beaten a corps member before. I am very sorry for using a cane on a corper. Adeola, I am very sorry for what happened. When I went back home, I felt bad for beating a woman. It is not true that I dragged the corper out of my office and flogged her before the students.
This is a man that behaves like a father, but I don’t know what happened that I behaved rudely with you. Please forgive me. The mistake will not repeat itself. Whatever is the cost of your treatment, I will bear the cost,” he said.
Responding, Miss Kolawole said she had no justification not to accept the apology of an elder saying, “For an elder to apologize for his mistake, I forgive him. I accept his apology.
My parents wanted to take up the matter, but I will talk to them not to pursue the case as they wanted”. The Commissioner for Education, Victor Inoka, who was also at the ‘reconciliation meeting’, made a personal donation of N50,000 to the corps member, for her treatment.
NYSC Coordinator, Amusu Julius, said he was writing his report on the incident to brief the corps directorate, but had to stop because the Commissioner for Education asked that a reconciliation be arranged between the parties involved.

The Director of Strategy and Documentation of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Olisa Mbakwe on Monday announced that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu has been sacked from the group.
Mbakwe said Kanu was fired for placing more value on his dog than those murdered in the struggle for the realisation of Biafra.
Speaking during Sunday’s broadcast from his base in Israel, Kanu mourned his dog and “a few other people” in his compound, who lost their lives when military men invaded the place in September 2017.
Kanu had said during the broadcast, “The Army of the zoo killed my dog Jack and a few other people in my compound. I am sorry for what my sureties are passing through, but I want to assure them that they will have a special place in Biafra. I shall not be honouring the court.”
Reacting, Mbakwe described Kanu as an “insensitive and callous leader that has no value for his own followers but rather his dog, Jack whom he paid tributes to after his long disappearance from the struggle”.
In a statement he personally signed, Mbakwe, of IPOB, also insisted that Kanu was a “traitor not worthy of any leadership position anywhere in the world”.
He stated that Kanu was removed for reasons which included, “personalisation of the Biafran struggle and derailing from the core objectives of IPOB as a grassroots movement”.
The statement read:
“On Sunday, October 21, 2018, an individual, Mazi Nnamdi Nwanekaenyi Kanu, claiming to be the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director General of Radio Biafra made a live broadcast that has left us perplexed, because it is unthinkable that someone will impersonate IPOB to the point of plotting to abuse the organization to hurt the interest of Biafra.
“The strength of the Republic of Biafra that we are struggling to actualize, is in its human resources as embodied in our versatile youths that dominate the fields of play across sectors of human endeavor; the country we have set our vision on creating is therefore not to be made up of tombstones but of people fulfilling their life missions as ordained by God.
“Nnamdi Kanu relinquished his position as the leader of IPOB struggle the day he deserted our members to die, when they had mobilized to stand for our belief in Biafra at his residence in Afaraukwu.
Several of our members were injured and some died in that encounter and even after emerging from hiding more than one year later all Kanu could do was to desecrate their memory with his radio broadcast.
Nnamdi Kanu vividly, specifically and particularly recalled his family dog, Jack, by name while he dismissed our members that died as mere statistics — he only recalled them as 28 IPOB members.

Instead of using his freedom to accelerate the freedom of these authentic freedom fighters, he rather went about Biafra land receiving obeisance from Biafrans like a monarch, when our dear land is completely republican. The travails of these our brothers are not over yet and might have been worsened by Kanu’s live broadcast, which has totally upset us.
“In line with the decisions earlier announced on Radio Biafra on November 17, 2017 that Mazi Ezenwachukwu Sampson Okwudili is the new director for the radio, we reaffirm that Mazi Nnamdi Nwanekaenyi Kanu remains sacked as the Director of Radio Biafra and has also been removed as the leader of IPOB since he has proven he is not a worthy leader that respects the sanctity of the lives of our members.
“Following interventions by our leaders, considerations were being made to reverse the earlier announcement but after studying the Kanu’s live broadcast from Israel we came to the painful conclusion that we cannot make progress with our vision of Biafra, when one man has completely personalized and commercialized the struggle.
The decision to drop Nnamdi Kanu from playing leading roles in IPOB affairs is hereby upheld. We shall announce replacements after consultations with the various stakeholders.”

This actually can be linked to the fact that the parents of the bride, Chris and Anita Oyakhilome are sour divorcees.
