“I’m thankful to movie producers for giving me jobs” – Seyi Awolowo

Reality TV star, Seyi Awolowo, has thanked film producers for considering him as someone who should be approached for acting roles.

He stated that he thought decisions to cast him in particular roles were heavily influenced by his voice and looks.

His gratitude came months after he publicly apologised to fans and other BBNaija housemates for a contentious comment he made regarding women. Read here.

The two-time Big Brother Naija competitor talked about his career in an interview with Sunday Scoop, stating that he is looking for more difficult parts that would push him outside of his comfort zone in addition to appearing as a nice boy in films.

Seyi, the grandson of the first Western Region premier, Obafemi Awolowo, stated that he would be willing to play a part in upcoming movies that many would not anticipate, such as a father figure or a bus conductor.

He said; “I really appreciate all the producers who have called me for jobs, and are allowing me to put my acting skills to good use. I would like to believe that my voice and physique have influenced many of the roles I get.

But, that is a double edged sword, because it might make me to be stereotyped. Moving forward though, I would love to play more challenging roles. It won’t be bad to play the role of a bus conductor or father; roles that people won’t see coming.”

Speaking on the meaning of wealth, the actor described wealth as including not just monetary benefits but also networking and information development that may open doors to the purchase of tangible items.

Seyi said; “The word, ‘wealthy’, is relative, because I do not see wealth as just financial gains alone. Also, I don’t think I have done a lot of movies that can give me the kind of resources that would empower me to acquire physical assets yet.

However, I have acquired knowledge and met people that have added value to my network. Hence, I would say that acting has given me opportunities and some financial rewards. But, wealth is subjective.”

“He is a criminal and should be treated as one” – Daniel Regha rages as Hushpuppi allegedly celebrates Tunde Ednut’s birthday from prison

Controversial social media commentator, Daniel Regha, has voiced his indignation over a video showing cybercriminal Hushpuppi celebrating well-known influencer Tunde Ednut’s birthday while incarcerated that surfaced online.

Hushpuppi, who is presently detained in the United States for money laundering, commemorated Tunde Ednut’s 38th birthday while in detention.

As soon as the video went viral, Daniel Regha voiced his disdain for it and advised Nigerians to stop acting like Hushpuppi is an idol or a good role model.

He said that because Hushpuppi is incarcerated, he should be treated like a criminal.

Daniel said that one of the main issues the nation is presently dealing with is Yahoo guys, which were promoted by people like Hushpuppi.

In addition, he cautioned Nigerians about the things they encourage in the name of cruising.

He wrote;

“Hushpuppi is a criminal & should be treated as one since he’s in prison; He often make headlines but Nigerians need to stop acting like he’s an icon or a good role model. One of the biggest problems we are facing today is yahoo boys, which the likes of Hushpuppi encouraged. Let’s be mindful what we encourage in the name of cruise.”

The video of Hushpuppi being served different meals in prison is wr¤ng (if true). He shouldn’t have access to a phone, & needs to be paying for his crimes. Again, Nigerians who catch cruise whenever he makes the headlines are part of the issue; How do y’all criticize politicians but glorify yahoo boys & criminals? That’s pathetic.”

“My father didn’t want me to be an actor” — Chidi Mokeme

Popular Nollywood actor, Chidi Mokeme, has revealed in an interview that his father didn’t think it was a good idea for him to become an actor.

Speaking in an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, the actor said that he was a model before he became an actor.

He stated that he had to flee his home in order to focus on his acting profession.

Chidi Mokeme revealed how he used to sneak away from home to film scenes, as well as to do TV and model ads.

He said;

“You couldn’t even say you want to be an actor before you will hear that he [my father] didn’t want you to be an actor
So, I knew in my mind. I started by sneaking out to go do these things. Luckily I started as a model. Back in the days before the home video industry, I did a lot of commercial modeling, runways, TV commercials, and calendars. So it was way easier. You can go in the daytime, do a quick shoot, and come back home. And my father is unlikely to see it because he is not in the world of that.

But on many occasions when I came back late from shoots, he asked me to go back to wherever I was coming from. From all the sneaking out and of course, there was passion. I just knew that I was happy when I was in this [entertainment] space.

And I think what broke the camel’s back, eventually, I tried to read pharmacy but it wasn’t happening then I eventually went into computer science. But when I got to school, there were no computers. There was just one computer in the entire department and that computer sits on the table of the lecturer. So I left because it wasn’t interesting anymore.

Then, I decided to leave home. I didn’t just pack my bags and leave, it was from all the experiences of ‘go back where you are coming from.’ I started committing more so that my dad would say I should go back to where I am coming from.”

“The insecurity is loud” — Reactions as Daniel Etim’s wife, Toyosi sends congratulatory message to Kunle Remi and Tiwi

Media personality, Toyosi Etim-Effiong has come under fire after she revealed that she was afraid of her friend Tiwi and Kunle Remi getting married.

Days after their wedding, Tiwi and Kunle Remi have been the talk of town, their wedding ceremony has been trending on social media for many days.

In light of this, Tiwi’s friend and Etim Effiong’s wife, Toyosi, revealed that she was afraid for their union because of the attention and love Kunle Remi has been receiving because of his attractiveness.

However after a sequence of exchanges and talks, her anxiety has diminished. She conveyed her happiness at Kunle and her pal Tiwi’s nuptials.

She wrote;

“This couple is special to me. Tiwi has been my aburo for much longer than I’ve known Daniel and when she told me about Kunle, I can’t lie, my heart did “GBISH GBISH” because I know FIRSTHAND about the… uniqueness of this kind of union.

The attention and affection that this fine-boy, hand-rubbing, chest-showing, sunglasses-wearing, lip-licking “screen gods” receive is not for faint-hearted spouses and that’s where the fear stemmed from.

But over time, following multiple conversations and observations of their interactions, the fear has subsided and now I’m just happy at how happy and intentional they are and how beautiful the ceremonies looked in the pictures and videos!

I love you guys so much @kunleremiofficial and I speak GOD’s covering over both of you ❤️.”

Her revelation did not sit well with netizens who slammed her for projecting her insecurities on the new couple.

“I got married a virgin but left my husband” – Sarah Martins challenges Solomon Buchi assertion on marrying virgins

Nigerian actress, Sarah Martins has contested Solomon Buchi’s claim that the divorce rate is lowest among virgins.

Recall that Solomon Buchi asserted that statistics support the idea that individuals who maintain low-key, monogamous relationships and remain virgins are happier in their marriages and are, consequently, less likely to seek divorce.

However, Sarah Martins provided anecdotal evidence to counter Solomon Buchi’s claims.

She said that she was a virgin when she was married at 19, but she was clear that this did not save her from having to make the difficult decision to leave her spouse when her health was in danger.

Even in cases where she was a devoted, submissive, and hardworking woman, Sarah Martins believes that remaining a virgin does not guarantee a long-lasting marriage.

She wrote;

“Dear Solomon Buchi,

I was married as a virgin at the age of 19. I am still a loyal, submissive, respectful, and hardworking woman.

Getting married as a virgin will never stop you from getting a divorce if the need arises .. if e no good for your health quit!

Some of us are totally different from what we portray online … Stop the comparison already!

The fact you got married to a virgin shouldn’t be an avenue to talk down on other people!

We are all unique in our own ways!

And yes, I was married as a virgin so what’s the jubilation about ?????

“Vìrgins have the lowest divorce rates” — Solomon Buchi reveals benefits of marrying a vïrgin

Social media commentator, Solomon Buchi, has taken to social media to educate a tweep who wants to know what was special about marrying a virgin.

A tweep said on the X platform that he had no idea what makes dating a virgin so wonderful.

He wrote; “I don’t know what’s so special about marrying a virgin😂”

Solomon Buchi responded by revealing that women who marry as virgins have a 65% chance of having a happy marriage, making them the group with the lowest divorce rate.

In summarising his findings, he asserted that non-virgins are likely to suffer from low self-esteem, academic failure, and bad relationship judgements.

He went on to say that the majority of marital sexual issues are the result of prior sex.

In his words:

“Virgins have the lowest divorce rates. Women who married as virgins have a 65% chance having a very happy marriage than their non-virgin counterpart. “When it comes to sex, less experience is better, at least for the marriage,” – institute for family studies.

71% of men who have only slept with their spouse reported satisfaction with their marriage, while 64% women who’ve only had sex with their spouse say they’re happy in their marriage.

Women who’ve had 6 to 10 sexual partners were 13 percent less likely to report marital happiness. For men who have slept with more than 21 partners, they were 15 percent less likely to say they were satisfied with their marriage.

Non-virgins are projected to suffer more economic lack, low self esteem, academic failure and bad relationship choices.

In this pornographic world, virginity is a proof of discipline and focus. If anyone should be embarrassed, it should be the other party that revels in sexual promiscuity.

There’s nothing shameful about marrying on a clean slate. Most sexual problems in marriage stem from past sexual experiences. Lastly, even if there was no benefit of virginity, we ought to stay virgin till marriage because God commanded it. God is wise, I’ll rather follow Him, than follow the bandwagon.

Stop trying to ridicule virtue just because you lack it.”
