Teenager drugs man to steal his motorcycle in Katsina (Photo)

The police in Katsina state have arrested an 18-year-old, Zinatu Abubakar, pictured, for allegedly drugging a man in an attempt to steal his motorcycle.

Parading her before newsmen, the spokesman of the state police command, SP Gambo Isah, said Zinatu was a member of a syndicate that specialize in stealing motorcycles in the state.

He said she tricked the owner of the motorcycle into chewing a chocolate bar, which made the victim become unconscious and thereafter she carted away with the motorcycle.

“On August 29, at about 10:00hrs, based on a tip-off, the command succeeded in arresting a female member of a notorious syndicate of motorcycle thieves that specialised in deceiving unsuspecting motorcycle riders by offering them poisoned chocolates.

Nemesis caught up with one Zinatu Abubakar, ‘aged 18 years of Hayin Danmani Quarters, Kaduna State when she chattered a commercial motorcycle, ridden by one Gide Wada, aged 25 years, of Yarhaka village, Batagarawa LGA of Katsina State from Kofar Kaura to Sokoto Rima Quarters, Katsina township.

With the good efforts of nearby Good Samaritans who witnessed the incident, the said suspect, Zinatu Abubakar, was arrested while her cohorts, one Abubakar and Chairman took to their heels and escaped.

The suspect confessed to have used the same modus operandi in Kaduna and Kano and robbed innocent cyclists of their motorcycles. Effort is in top gear to arrest other members of the syndicate,” he said

Petrol tanker explodes in Rivers State; houses, church burnt (Photos)

A tanker laden with petrol, overturned and exploded around Eliozu Bridge on G. U. Ake road, Obio-Akpor Local Government area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Thursday, August 30th.

The explosion destroyed properties worth millions of Naira. A church, Christ Living Miracle Church, a hotel, four shops, an event and catering center worth over N500 million were razed in the inferno.

Commenting on the incident, the pastor of the affected church, Bumi Grace, said

“When the tanker fell and fire started, the electricity transformer close caught fire, exploded and the fire spread the more. Before fire fighters came the thing had gone far.

“The incident will affect our service, but we must gather to worship God. What was destroyed here is over 300 million because we did not remove anything here.

“I was in the house when I received a call that my church is on fire. I got a vision of fire incident, and we organized a prayer and fasting. We finished prayers yesterday own and this morning this thing happened.”

One of the owners of the shops affected, Amaka Ugu, said that this would be the third time a tanker has fallen on that spot and called on the government for prompt attention.

“What I have lost is over a million naira, but my neighbor lost over 12 million because he just came back from market. He sells rugs. “When I woke up somebody called me that another tanker has fallen. This is the third time tanker is falling here this year. The government has to do something about this.”

Serena Williams, 36, will face her elder sister Venus Williams, 38, for the 30th time on Friday night at the Arthur Ashe Stadium after they booked their spots in the third round of the US Open.

Serena eased into the third round encounter with a 6-2, 6-2 win over German world number 101 Carina Witthoeft on Tuesday, while her sister Venus made it into the third round with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Camila Giorgi of Italy.

This is the pair’s earliest meeting at a major since the Australian Open in 1998, and also their second encounter of 2018 and the 30th career WTA Tour match between the two.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Serena said:

‘Every match is just looking forward to the next, which is going to obviously be incredibly hard,’

‘It’s obviously a tough match. It’s so young in the tournament. It is what it is. In an ideal world, we’d meet later.

While Venus said in her post-match press conference:

‘Yeah, I mean, obviously, it’s early in the tournament, so both of us are going to be looking forward to continuing to play better. ‘Obviously, it’s definitely a tough draw,’ she said in her on-court interview.

Homeless man sues couple who raised $400k to help him

A homeless man who went viral last year after he gave a stranded woman his last $20, is now suing the woman and her husband after they raised money to help him.

Last year, Johnny Bobbitt gave his last $20 to Kate McClure when her car ran out of petrol – Kate shared the news online and Johnny went viral.

Subsequently, Kate and her husband, Mark D’Amico started an online fundraiser for him, which drew contributions from over 14,000 donors. The US couple raised more than $400,000 to help Bobbitt. But the homeless man is now accusing them of using the donations as their own “piggy bank”.

On Tuesday, Bobbitt, 35, filed a lawsuit alleging fraud and conspiracy. Lawyers representing Bobbitt wrote in documents filed in Mount Holly, Philadelphia, that the couple had used the GoFundMe account they set up for Mr Bobbitt “to fund a lifestyle that they could not otherwise afford”.

Mr D’Amico works as a carpenter and Ms McClure is a receptionist for the New Jersey Department of Transportation, according to local media.

In recent interviews, Mr Bobbitt said Ms McClure, 28, and Mr D’Amico, 39, had recently paid for trips to Las Vegas and Florida, and a new BMW. Bobbitt says the couple sold his camper, gambled away some of his money, and have declined to provide him with any financial records.

But, last week, Ms McClure told the Philadelphia Inquirer she felt frustrated and betrayed, and that she still wished to help Mr Bobbitt.

“I don’t want to lose my job over this,” she tearfully told the newspaper.

The couple claims he once blew $25,000 on drugs in just 13 days.

“Every dollar he ever touched was used for drugs,” Mr D’Amico told NBC in a nationally televised interview on Monday.

A judge is set to hear the case on Thursday.

Recall that Eight persons including a pastor, his wife and three children, were killed and 95 houses burnt after unknown gunmen invaded Abonong and Zayit communities in Foron District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau on Wednesday, August 29th.

41 Nigerian prostitutes arrested in Ghana (Video)

41 Nigerian prostitutes, between the ages of between 18 and 25 years, have reportedly been arrested by the Weija District Police Command led by Chief Inspector Diana Tei Eninful.

They were apprehended around a place called Choice, where several pubs operate at night.

Eninful said the police had received several reports from residents in the area about the activities of the prostitutes, which have turned the vicinity into a haven for drug peddlers and armed robbers.

She said the prostitutes, sometimes intentionally hoot at, and accuse passers-by of refusing to pay them after allegedly having enjoyed their coital services, and, so, pounce on such innocent people with the help of their gangs of pimps – a situation she said has brought insecurity to the whole neighbourhood.

Man allegedly beaten to death by Christ Embassy security guards in Lagos

A lady has taken to her Facebook page to cry out following the death of her brother, one Olatunji Adedeji Odusan.

According to her, he was allegedly beaten to death by security guards of popular Nigerian church, Christ Embassy.

She said the unfortunate incident occurred during an argument over parking space.

Olatunji was there to pick a wheel chair bound student of the church’s healing school when the alteration occurred – after he was assaulted, he died on his way to the hospital.

She further revealed the church are yet to acknowledge his death or send representatives to the family.

Pastor paraded for sexually assaulting 17 year-old maid

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NATIPP) has on Thursday paraded a 43-year-old Pastor, Philip ‘Prince’ Olatunbosun for sexually harassing his 17-year-old house help.

The suspect, who hails from Ondo State, was paraded along four other suspects for human trafficking and rape offences.

The pastor, according to the agency, would sneak into the victim’s room and use his hands to fondle her breasts and other sexual genitals.

NAPTIP’s Director-General, Julie Okah-Donli, who disclosed these at a briefing on Thursday in Abuja, said the move to parade the suspects, is in line with its ‘name and shame’ strategy of ending the twin problems.

She said:

“Three of the cases have to do with rape and sexual violations against minors which are serious offences punishable under the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act (VAPPA) 2015.

“The other two are attempts by two suspects to traffic or smuggle other Nigerians out of the country using fraudulent means contrary to the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.”

Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric has on Thursday received the accolade of UEFA Player of the Year in Monaco after his Champions League exploits.

“My father always pushed me to fight for my dreams, I owe him a lot for everything,” said Modric, whose silky midfield skills helped Real to a third straight European crown and then propelled Croatia to the World Cup final.

“It’s an incredible moment for me, I feel really excited and proud of this great award,” said the 32-year-old, who started out at Dinamo Zagreb and then had four years with Tottenham before Real prised him away six years ago.

Modric, whose success sets him up as a favourite to win the Ballon d’Or world player of the year accolade, saw off former Real teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool’s Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah for the overall award.

Real Madrid’s achievement in winning the Champions League for the third season running was further recognised as Modric also won the UEFA award for the best midfielder of last season.

His clubmate Sergio Ramos was named best defender while Real shot stopper Keylor Navas won the best goalkeeper prize.

Ronaldo, who did not appear at the ceremony, was awarded the award for best striker chosen by Champions League and Europa League coaches from last season and journalists.

The award “recognises the best players, irrespective of nationality, playing for a club within the territory of a UEFA member association during the past season. Players are judged on their performances in all competitions – domestic, continental and international”.

Danish international Pernille Harder, of German club Wolfsburg, won the UEFA women’s player of the year prize.

Wolfsburg lost to dominant French outfit Lyon in the Champions League final in Kiev in May.

There was also an award for David Beckham, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and England star collecting the UEFA President’s Award for his achievements in the game and his work since retiring as a player.

Over time, fans and followers have continued to ponder on the identity of Popular Nigerian blogger, Linda Ikeji’s baby daddy – identity has been foggy ever since she announced that she was pregnant.

In a new post about her extreme love for children and how she intends to be the best mother in the world, Linda Ikeji let it slip that the baby’s father is tall, dark and handsome!

Sharing the above photo from a maternity shoot she had, the media entrepreneur wrote:

I love children so much. I’m particularly obsessed with babies. I grew up in a compound with a lot of neighbours and believe it or not, as a teenager/young woman, I was the unofficial resident babysitter. I swear, ask my siblings. I literally carried all the newborn babies born in that compound at a period of time until they grew up to a certain age. Their mums used to come drop the babies at our house whenever they were tired or wanted to go out, this was, of course, to the annoyance of my family..lol.

The first baby I carried was a boy named Makoba (wonder where he is now, this was about 20yrs ago). From the first day I carried him, I didn’t want to let him go. So every time I had free time, and his mum hadn’t brought him to me, I would walk two floors up, knock on his family’s door and ask them if they wanted me to take the child off them for a while. I was always happy when they said yes. After him other mums started dropping their kids with me.

Back then my sisters and I used to take turns to cook every day of the week. So whenever it was my turn to cook and I was babysitting and they insisted I go cook, I’d tell my sisters to either hold the baby for me so I could go cook or they go cook. They always chose the latter. Lol.

Then my siblings started having children & I started to feel more joy. These were no longer neighbours’ or friends’ children, these were my nephews and nieces. My family! And carrying them brought me even more joy. If I was planning to go out and I heard my beautiful nephews and niece were coming over to the house, most times, I change plans and just stay home with them. There’s no greater joy for me than being around them.

So now imagine soon I will look down at a baby, and it won’t be a neighbor’s child, a friend’s child, a sister’s child, but my own child, my own flesh and blood, carried in my womb. My own son. It’s surreal. I can’t get over it.

Dear son, you are my greatest dream realized and I can’t wait to meet you! I plan to be one of the best mums the world has ever seen. Thanks for choosing me

Sometimes I wonder what he will look like. His dad is tall, dark and handsome and I’m cute too so fingers crossed.

Taking to her Instagram story, she also shared photos of some of the designer clothes she’s already buying for her baby boy, to the surprise of her mum who can’t believe the extravagant cost of them.

Latest and richest corps member and Nigerian singer, Davido has revealed why he registered for the one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.

Social media was thrown into a frenzy recently after ‘OBO’ shared photos of himself in NYSC uniform after his registration at the Lagos NYSC camp on Tuesday.

The popular artiste earlier today, caused quite a stir at the Iyana-Ipaja orientation camp as he drove his white Mercedes Benz GLE 450 marked POLICE PF 413SPY into the camp.

The ‘OBO’ crooner, upon signing his oath of allegiance form, told newsmen at the NYSC camp that he registered for the scheme due to his strong passion for NYSC.

He also promised to adhere to camp rules and regulations.

He said:

“As a young age Nigerian, I would not want to miss the opportunity to be part of the service year.

“I registered for the scheme due to my strong passion for NYSC.”

A total of 2,152 corps members commenced the 2018 Batch B Stream Two orientation training exercise in the state.

Gay man arrested for rupturing his lover’s anus

The Ogun State Police arrested two men – Okon Bassey and Ademola Adekunle, in connection with homosexuality.

Bassey and Ademola were arrested following a complaint by Bassey who reported at the Onipanu Divisional Headquarter that Ademola was threatening his life with violence ,however, allegation of homosexual practices between the two cropped up.

In a release by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, when detectives detailed by the Divisional Police Officer, Onipanu, Sangobiyi Johnson, arrested Ademola last Wednesday, he confessed to being introduced to Bassey by one Mandela for homosexual dating.

Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), stated further that Ademola had explained how Bassey promised him N20,000 if he agreed to be his sex partner.

According to Ademola, the said Bassey has had sex with him three times and which had left him bleeding profusely from the anus since, while the agreed N20,000 was not paid him.

“Upon the confession, the two of them were promptly arrested and detained. Ademola was taken to hospital and medical report confirmed that his anus has been violently tampered with.

“The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has given directives for the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and possible prosecution,” Oyeyemi stated.

The man photoed has reportedly been declared wanted for allegedly raping his friend’s 9-year-old daughter in Surulere area of Lagos.

According to a Facebook user, Ebele Umejiaku, the girl is currently hospitalised.

“This guy raped a 9 years old girl in Surulere area and shattered her genitals. She’s currently in hospital. Funny enough, he is a close trusted friend of the father of the girl.

Any information about him should be reported to the police.”

A man narrowly escaped death after he managed to jump out in time before a truck carrying chippings lost control and rammed into his motorcycle along Eke Okigwe Market Road Okigwe Municipality.

According to an eyewitness, the truck driver was allegedly being chased by soldiers for failing to ‘settle’ them.

That love knows no bound was proven recently by a couple whose marriage photos have taken over the internet, with a lot of people having a thing or two to say about it.

New photos of Kayumba, a visually-impaired Cameroonian teacher, who tied the knot with his fiancée, Pheobe, over the weekend have gone viral online.

According to his friends, Kayumba has a very high IQ and can walk unaided, apart from recognizing people by their voices.

He is also said to be proficient at using WhatsApp and Facebook, using the listening aid. He chats and texts normally, watches football and will tell how the goals were scored and who played well.

Kayumba composed a song for his bride and he sang it for her during their wedding.

God Saw me Through the 9months Journey in Good Health, my Baby Growing Everyday and This Time Around, it Ended in Praise, I Didn’t Go Home Empty Handed to The Glory of God, Jesus Did it, He Put An End to the years of Weeping and Turned me into a Celebrity Over Night, Those who Mocked Us and Said All Sorts Concerning Us Where There on the Day of the Naming and Baby Dedication to Rejoice With Us….
I want to Encourage you Never to Give Up, No matter the Report you Have Being Given, Hold On to Your Faith, know that There is A God In Heaven who Can Turn Things Around for your Good at His own Time… In all our years of Waiting, We Remained Focus in the Lord, don’t move from place to place in the Name of Searching for a Miracle, trust God Alone To change your story, He Did it For Us, He Will Do it For You…

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar, 26, and his girlfriend, actress, Bruna Marquezine, 23, stepped for a romantic date night in Paris on Wednesday.

The Brazilian pair who rekindled their love in January after three previous break-ups, were photoed all up in each other’s space as they posed for the camera in front of the Eiffel Tower after enjoying dinner together.

Following the recent arrest and subsequent release of 57 homosexuals in Lagos, Nigerian gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi in company of his Australian husband, Anthony, spoke on the issue.

He spoke with Linda Ikeji TV and according to him, while in his prime, he attended several gay parties in Victoria Island, Lagos with a lot of posh kids and it was fun.

He went on to call on more people to lend their voices to fighting for gay people in Nigeria,

‘I think people that have the platform should speak up. If you have the resources, if you have the name, even if you don’t come out as gay, you can stand u and speak on the issue’ he said.

Eminent Nigerian author and feminist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has in an interview with i-D’s Candice Carty-Williams revealed the reason behind her choice of fashion.

“I decided to use fashion as a kind of political statement,” Chimamanda reveals, “which is to say that I made the choice to wear mostly Nigerian designers to public events, because obviously I want to support an industry that’s full of talent, but also to make a case for how fashion can tell a story. Fashion and culture are intertwined in very interesting ways.”

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has continued to use her Instagram page to showcase her love for Nigerian fashion brands.
