A lady celebrated her birthday in style with her friends and colleagues showing support for her at a nightclub in Benin city, Edo state capital.
The excited celebrant was poured expensive champagnes during the birthday bash which was taken to another level at Jokers nightclub.

No fewer than 10 persons including a policeman were yesterday evening feared killed in a failed attempt by armed robbers to road two banks after they invaded Igarra, headquarters of Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo State.
The armed men were said to have attacked a police station which is about 1.2 kilometre from the banks, set ablaze the official vehicle of the newly posted Area Commander and killed a policeman.
It was gathered that two detainees at the police station said to have been arrested yesterday morning for minor offences were also killed. One of the detainees was reportedly arrested for incomplete vehicle particulars.
While four persons were reportedly killed within the premises of the two banks as the robbers failed to get access to the vault of the banks, three other persons were reportedly killed near the police station.
One of the youths in the community Ofei Obende said they tried to resist the robbers but were overpowered by their firepower but said that the police in the banks had exchange of gunfire which he said was responsible for the death of the three unidentifiable bodies.
He said another unknown person was caught in the cross fire and could help police in their investigation.
The Palace Secretary to the paramount ruler of the community, Otaru of Igarra, Elder Folorunsho Dania who confirmed the incident to Vanguard on phone said “This is a serious case, armed robbers have besieged Igarra so many lives killed, 10 dead persons have been counted.
“The police station set ablaze, the Area Commander’s new car set ablaze because we have an area commander now, then close to the police station, three people were killed and in the banks many persons were killed during the raid on the banks. It is a calamity. “In all, 10 lives have gone. They could not access the strong room of the banks.
The people that were killed in bank were outside the bank premises. “Four persons killed within the bank premises, a policeman killed in the police station then a stone throw from the police station, three persons were killed, the car of the new area commander was set ablaze. Igarra is in a war scene, I am right at the police station. “
It would be recalled that six persons were killed in similar manner in November 2015 when armed robbers invaded the community. “
As at the time of this report, the Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor said information about the attack was still sketchy and would release more details later.”

A Female NYSC Corp member in Lagos camp allegedly assaulted a male colleague who cautioned her for sexually harassing him while dancing.
According to the corp member identified as Oluwaseun, during the usual early morning Man O’ War drills, a female corp member kept on grabbing his genitals, he cautioned her to stop but when it seemed like the lady had no intention of slapping, he slapped her.
The lady, known as Peace from Ambrose Ali University, who wasn’t expecting such reaction, tried to fight him but she was held back.
He said some commended his action, because if roles were reversed, it would have ben worse.
Others condemned him for it because they felt he was a guy and the lady was only trying to give him a signal that she was interested in him.
The lady who was apparently not ashamed of her action, waylaid the said male corper at the popular ‘mami’ market to confront him, which ended up with the guy receiving a hot slap.
It has however been reported to the highest authorities in camp and they have both put down oral and written statements.

Pa Celestine Egbunuche who has been dubbed as the oldest prisoner in Nigeria celebrated his 100th birthday on the 4th of August inside the Enugu Maximum prison.
According to reports, Egbunuche who hails from Akokwa, Imo State, alongside his son and another relation, were sentenced to death for killing an individual during a brawl over a piece of land.
All three convicts have reportedly spent over 17 years in jail and their case has been taken up by an NGO, Global Society for Anti-corruption (GSAC). The NGO has requested for Egbunuche’s release as he is said to have suffered from diabetes over the years.
GSAC has appealed to the FG and Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha to use their board of mercy an release him, his 78-year-old relation and son from prison.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has banned Falz’s This is Nigeria from being aired on radio. They said the song contains vulgar lyrics and unfit to air on radio.
This was made known on Twitter by broadcaster, Folaranmi Folayan, who shared the picture of a letter the NBC sent to a radio station for airing the song.

Award winning South African rapper, Linda Mkhize popularly known as “ProKid” has died..
The rapper, 37, died on Wednesday night after suffering severe seizures.
Times Live disclosed that ProKid’s family released a statement early Thursday morning, their first since he passed on.
An excerpt of the statement reads:
The legendary SA hip-hop artist affectionately known as ProKid … passed away on Wednesday. He suffered a severe seizure attack while visiting friends and paramedics were called in to assist. They did their best to revive him to no avail and called his time of death at 8.38pm…Further details will be furnished as soon as his family has gathered.” The grieving family have also asked for privacy during this trying time.
Following his shocking demise, fans and celebrities have poured out tributes via social media.
Eric Idowu is an undergraduate student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), he has been accused by one Azeez Bakare, a Youth Corp Member of absconding with phones valued at N1million. He had allegedly purchased the products with a fake credit alert.
Punch Metro learnt that Idowu had on Thursday allegedly used a fake name, Leonard Adegoke to order for the items from the Youth Corp Member.
Bakare, the Youth Corp Member said Idowu had remained elusive since the items were delivered to him at his house.

“Apart from being a corps member, I run a mobile phone business. On Thursday, August 2, around 4.30pm, I received a call from a customer, who identified himself as Leonard Adeleke. He ordered for three used iPhone 8 Plus and one brand new iPhone X. The address he gave me was no 20, University Road, Abule-Oja, Yaba, Lagos. I went there to deliver the goods around 7pm the same day.
“When I got there, I followed him to the front of his room where he checked the phones to see if they were working perfectly. After he was convinced, he collected the phones and asked for my account number, which I provided. A minute later, he showed me a debit alert on his phone and said the money had been transferred into my account.
“Both of us waited for me to receive the alert on my phone. While waiting, he said he wanted to go downstairs to turn on his generator. That was the last time I saw him as he ran away. When I searched around and could not find him. I called his telephone number, but it was switched off.”
Bakare, who said he had petitioned the Sabo Police Station on the incident, noted that one Adeleke Adegoke who lived in the house had been arrested.
“Later, I used the True Caller app on my phone to dial the number Leonard Adegoke used in placing his order. The app revealed his picture and real name as Eric Idowu.
“I showed Adeleke, who recognised Idowu from the picture. Adeleke said Idowu used to stay with the landlord’s son but had disappeared,” he added.
Bakare said it was after Adeleke had called the landlord’s son at the station that the police got a detailed information on Idowu, who was said to be an undergraduate at the University of Lagos.
“I also went to the Computer Village in Ikeja to meet with officials of the phone company because they had reported the case to SARS. I later wrote that the case should be transferred from the Sabo Police Station to SARS.
“I have informed my parents about this case. Till now, I have not paid for the phones, which I got on credit from a phone company, CSE Phones. I want the police to help me get Idowu. I want my goods back or my money and the extra cost I have spent to recover them,” he added.

About 24 hours after he was arrested for alleged armed robbery and attempted kidnapping, the police in Ondo State is yet to know the identity of a middle-aged man who has been sleeping due to effects of tramadol.
During the parade of the suspect and other criminal suspects at the Ondo state police command headquarters yesterday in Akure, Ondo State, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Femi Joseph said the suspect and two others now at large had entered a pharmacy shop to carry out an operation when he was arrested.
Joseph further said that the owner of the pharmacy on sighting the gang with arms, escaped through the exit door.
According to him, the gang later came out of the shop at gunpoint and collected one Boxer Bajaj motorcycle from one Daodu Wale who arrived the chemist to buy drugs, the other two escaped with the bike, while the suspect who is yet to be identified, attempted to use the boxer motorcycle they came with to escape from the scene.
He was said to have stumbled and fell and was overpowered by passersby and sympathizers.
One cut to size locally made barrel was recovered from him and a 400 MG tablet of tramadol was recovered from his pocket.
Another suspect identified as Mapayi Taye the police alleged aided the escape of two robbery suspects from police detention recently.
The suspect according to the police spokesman have accused the police of extra judicial killing of one of the robbery suspect whom the police claimed was killed during another robbery operation after his escape from SARS detention.

A 28-year-old commercial bus driver, Abraham Umar, was, on Tuesday, shot dead by some cultists ravaging Cele bus stop, Ijanikin, Lagos, over his 17-year-old girlfriend, Arigi Precious Elo.
Umar was killed in Elo’s mother restaurant at about 9:30p.m by cultists numbering 9. An eyewitness said, “I was surprised because his girlfriend Elo was with them at the scene. Everybody ran away leaving his body at the scene, while she left with the killers.”
The deceased’s father, Muhammed Umaru, revealed that his son had been receiving threat messages from the cultists, to leave Elo alone that she belongs to one of them.
“But my son kept saying everything is fine. My son’s friend, Peter told me that the boy sending the threat messages once confronted them.
I told his auntie and uncle who warned the girl to stay away from him and also warned him to leave the girl alone, but he didn’t listen.”
Elo was not remorseful when police arrested her. She said Abraham was her only boyfriend. However, sources revealed that she is a “notorious girl and belongs to a cult group.”
The source said:
“She is seen at all the club houses and hotels here. She sleeps around with with men for money. Two of her sisters are said to be in Italy prostituting and her mother is preparing to send her to Dubai.
In fact, her travelling documents are ready. Should be travelling in two weeks’ time. I wonder what that gentle boy was doing with her. She is not a good girl.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, said four suspects had been arrested and noted that Abraham’s best friend, now at large, set him up because he also has a crush on Elo.
A 300 Level Philosophy student of the Kogi State University, identified as Ali Umar Sharif, has been stabbed to death by a 100 Level student who is currently on the run.
The incident happened on Thursday at their residence at Transformer Junction, Egwume road, Anyigba – Sharif was said to be celebrating his birthday when an argument started between him and Santa.
The argument later degenerated into a fight and Sharif was said to have picked up a stick while Santa picked a bottle, broke it and stabbed him in the neck before fleeing the scene.
Sharif was subsequently rushed to Good Shepard Hospital, where he was confirmed dead. The whereabouts of Santa remains unknown.

According to reports from Vanguard, Olakunle Churchill who had just returned from the UK was accosted at the Airport by a young lady who was in tears after missing her flight and stranded.
She looked pitiful and Olakunle was affectionate, so he was said to have extended his hands of love by giving the lady a 100 dollar so as to resolve her little financial problems.
Unfortunately, he was ridiculously amazed when she began her confession as one of the online saboteurs who was paid to make negative comments and trend them on several online media platforms anytime there was a post on Churchill or his events.
The lady confessed that, she was paid 10,000naira every month and that they were 25 people with 5 different fake accounts each, and the ring leader of the group is a Ghanaian but London based blogger called “cutie”.
