Faze stunned the early 2000’s with hit songs Kolomental, Faze Alone, Originality, Kpo Kpo Di Kpo, Need Somebody, to mention but a few.

However, the member of the defunct Plantashun boiz singing group slowly faded from the music scene/limelight for a while and in this interview with the Sun, the entertainer spoke about his past, present and plans for the immediate future.

How has life been since you went solo after the break up of Plantashun Boiz?

I must say that life has been wonderful. You get to see a lot of ups and downs, which has made me learn a lot more.

You disappeared from the stage for so long and now just gaining your entry back. What do you have to say to that?

My disappearance, as you said, was to study the type of sound being made everywhere so I can fix myself in it without deviating from my real self. That’s just it.

You were being too diplomatic speaking up when a big fight broke out between Tuface and Black Face. Was that your way of not wanting to be accused of taking to any side, even when you claimed you know the whole truth about the matter?

Sorry, I don’t have any comment on that.

Does it bother you that you are not as rich as some musicians who were in the same rank with you, back in the days of Plantashun Boiz?

Chairman of Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Itse Sagay, says he does not believe that Kemi Adeosun, minister of finance, forged her NYSC exemption certificate.

It was reported that Mrs Kemi falsified her NYSC exemption certificate but she is yet to react to the allegation.

Sagay described Adeosun as a brilliant woman and valuable member of the government.

Speaking with The Nation, he said ;

“Let me tell you my reaction. This woman is a brilliant and extremely valuable member of this government,

“A lot of the good things happening now – the welfare that Nigerians are enjoying and are going to enjoy, because it takes time, and the way our economy is booming, how we got out of recession – are due to her expertise, her commitment, her sacrifice.

There is nothing in this world that will make me remove such a woman from the government. The PDP can weep from now until there is no tear in their body; she is going to be there. We cannot afford to lose that woman.

Who cares about youth service? I don’t bloody care whether she did youth service or not. It’s irrelevant as far as I am concerned. I don’t believe it. I don’t see anything serious about not doing youth service.

APC attacks Saraki again , labels ‘Senate President a traitor .

The All Progressives Congress on Thursday lambasted the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, calling him a traitor, betrayer and a man unfit to hold a public office, Punch has reported.

The statement reads in part ;

“In terms of exemplary personage, the reverse is the case in respect of the current Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, who has been a dismal failure and has been involved in one controversy or the other: budget padding, filibustering, legislative rascality, sabotage of matters of national interest, among other criminalities too numerous to mention.

“Having suffered under the 16-year misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr Saraki will go down in our country’s history as the worst Senate President Nigeria has had the misfortune to have.

“Since his usurpation of the coveted seat, achieved through a wicked conspiracy with members of the opposition PDP, it has been from one controversy to another: the code of conduct trial for false declaration of assets; conspiracy with his deputy to fraudulently alter the rules of the Senate; and links to the deadly armed robbers who wasted many lives in the Offa robbery attack. It is alleged that some of the robbery suspects were his political thugs used to rig elections. A common adage says, “Show me your friends and I will tell you who you are.”

“A traitor will always be a traitor, however the time and place. The Senate must do everything possible to put Dr Saraki where he rightly belongs – the back seat. He is definitely not a fit and proper person to preside over the country’s upper and revered legislative house.

“A man who betrayed his father, sister (many times), his party the PDP in 2014, the APC in 2015 by conspiring with the opposition PDP senators to emerge Senate President, APC administration by sabotaging the executive and defecting to the PDP in 2018 has no character, principles, values and integrity.”

The Ibadan Zonal office of EFCC on August 9, 2018 arraigned one Abiodun Adeyemi Faseyitan before Hon. Justice M. Abimbola, Chief Judge of Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan, on a 6-count of obtaining money under false pretense.

This arraignment was sequel to a petition to the Commission from one pastor and founder of a new generation church (name withheld) alleging that sometimes in 2013 the defendant, Abiodun Adeyemi Faseyitan approached her and presented himself to her and the entire members of her church as a senior staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

According to the petition, the defendants promised to assist members of her congregation to secure Federal Government jobs, purchase vehicles that are on auction sale in the EFCC and also use his connection in the Commission to assist them to travel abroad.

It was further alleged that based on the above promises, the defendant fraudulently collected the sum of N2,477,500.00 (Two Million, Four Hundred and Seventy Seven Thousand, Five Hundred Naira) only from her and several Millions of Naira from members of her church.

When they discovered he was not genuine, they made efforts to recover their monies back but seemed abortive.

The defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him. In view of his plea, the EFCC’s counsel, Dr. Ben Ubi prayed the court for a trial date and for the remand of the defendant in prison custody. However, counsel to the defendant, Adeleke Bakare prayed the court to allow him moved an oral application for bail.

Justice Abimbola however, ordered the defense to present a formal application for bail. Meanwhile, the defendant shall be remanded at the Federal Prison, Agodi, pending the hearing and determination of his bail application. The case is adjourned to 7 September, 2018 for trial.

A Nigerian lady has taken to Twitter to reveal how she was almost killed by a stray bullet inside her room in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.

The lady idetified as Era-dSonia said she was fast asleep when the stray bullet hit a few inches from her head.

The bullet had penetrated her room from the roof, as a robbery was taking place in her house. See what she wrote below:

Despacito rapper Daddy Yankee robbed of $2m jewelry

Daddy Yankee, the rapper featured in the song ‘Despacito’ has been robbed of $2M in jewelry by an impersonator in a Spain hotel room.

The Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee, famous for his 2017 hit “Despacito” was robbed of $2.3-million worth of jewels after a man posing as the performer had hotel staff in Spain open the room’s safe.

The robbery was confirmed by the Daddy Yankee’s press office in a tweet Thursday. The translated Tweet read:

“The press office @daddy_yankee confirms that the artist has been a victim of robbery while he was outside his hotel in Valencia, Spain. A law firm has already been hired and no further declarations will be given so as not to hinder the investigation in any way,”

Local media said that a man posing as Daddy Yankee asked staff at the Meliá Valencia Hotel, where the real Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez — Daddy Yankee’s real name — was staying, to open the room’s safe.

The rapper reportedly discovered the missing jewels Tuesday night and contacted authorities. The BBC reported that two rooms were robbed — one with the safe containing the jewels and the other with thousands of dollars in cash.

Local media said that a man posing as Daddy Yankee asked staff at the Meliá Valencia Hotel, where the real Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez — Daddy Yankee’s real name — was staying, to open the room’s safe.

Daddy Yankee currently is on the road in Europe and will continue his tour, despite the theft.

Terry Apala has rejected the claim that he uses drugs and substances to maintain his vocal ability.

According to him, it might be difficult to believe due to the way he sounds, but he doesn’t drink, smoke or take substances, even to perform at shows.

Speaking to our correspondent through his manager, Tobi Mohammed, Apala said, “I do not drink or smoke whether to perform on stage or while I’m in a public gathering. People can testify to the fact that when I’m out or invited for shows, I prefer to take soft drinks. It is very difficult to believe and people find it shocking but I was brought up in a humble and disciplined background.

“If you want to make me happy, just get me an energy drink and ice,” he added.

The Mushin-bred artiste revealed that while growing up, he worked with Musiliu Ishola to create some of his apala tunes.

“I worked under him. I am not forcing the way I sound. I have a song where I featured him, titled Palongo,” he added.

On originality, the musician added that he was not all about doing covers for other people’s songs but had several of his produced by his team.

He said, “The song that brought me into the limelight is Champagne Showers and I have another called Jangolova, which already has more than a million downloads on soundclouds.”

Highlighting the difficulties he faced when he first started his style of music, he said it was difficult to accept at first but after a while many people got used to it.

Apala further said that his new song, Mushin, was getting good attention.

The singer shared a photo of the viral letter which issues a N100,000 fine to a Jos based radio station for playing ‘This is Nigeria’ and other songs, with caption:

10 feared dead as armed men invade bank in Edo

No fewer than 10 persons including a policeman were yesterday evening feared killed in a failed attempt by armed robbers to road two banks after they invaded Igarra, headquarters of Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo State.

The armed men were said to have attacked a police station which is about 1.2 kilometre from the banks, set ablaze the official vehicle of the newly posted Area Commander and killed a policeman.

It was gathered that two detainees at the police station said to have been arrested yesterday morning for minor offences were also killed. One of the detainees was reportedly arrested for incomplete vehicle particulars.

While four persons were reportedly killed within the premises of the two banks as the robbers failed to get access to the vault of the banks, three other persons were reportedly killed near the police station.

One of the youths in the community Ofei Obende said they tried to resist the robbers but were overpowered by their firepower but said that the police in the banks had exchange of gunfire which he said was responsible for the death of the three unidentifiable bodies.

He said another unknown person was caught in the cross fire and could help police in their investigation.

The Palace Secretary to the paramount ruler of the community, Otaru of Igarra, Elder Folorunsho Dania who confirmed the incident to Vanguard on phone said “This is a serious case, armed robbers have besieged Igarra so many lives killed, 10 dead persons have been counted.

“The police station set ablaze, the Area Commander’s new car set ablaze because we have an area commander now, then close to the police station, three people were killed and in the banks many persons were killed during the raid on the banks. It is a calamity. “In all, 10 lives have gone. They could not access the strong room of the banks.

The people that were killed in bank were outside the bank premises. “Four persons killed within the bank premises, a policeman killed in the police station then a stone throw from the police station, three persons were killed, the car of the new area commander was set ablaze. Igarra is in a war scene, I am right at the police station. “

It would be recalled that six persons were killed in similar manner in November 2015 when armed robbers invaded the community. “

As at the time of this report, the Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor said information about the attack was still sketchy and would release more details later.”

Female NYSC Corp Member sexually assaults Male Corp Member in Lagos Camp, then slaps him

A Female NYSC Corp member in Lagos camp allegedly assaulted a male colleague who cautioned her for sexually harassing him while dancing.

According to the corp member identified as Oluwaseun, during the usual early morning Man O’ War drills, a female corp member kept on grabbing his genitals, he cautioned her to stop but when it seemed like the lady had no intention of slapping, he slapped her.

The lady, known as Peace from Ambrose Ali University, who wasn’t expecting such reaction, tried to fight him but she was held back.

He said some commended his action, because if roles were reversed, it would have ben worse.

Others condemned him for it because they felt he was a guy and the lady was only trying to give him a signal that she was interested in him.

The lady who was apparently not ashamed of her action, waylaid the said male corper at the popular ‘mami’ market to confront him, which ended up with the guy receiving a hot slap.

It has however been reported to the highest authorities in camp and they have both put down oral and written statements.

Oldest Nigerian inmate celebrates 100th birthday in Enugu prison

Pa Celestine Egbunuche who has been dubbed as the oldest prisoner in Nigeria celebrated his 100th birthday on the 4th of August inside the Enugu Maximum prison.

According to reports, Egbunuche who hails from Akokwa, Imo State, alongside his son and another relation, were sentenced to death for killing an individual during a brawl over a piece of land.

All three convicts have reportedly spent over 17 years in jail and their case has been taken up by an NGO, Global Society for Anti-corruption (GSAC). The NGO has requested for Egbunuche’s release as he is said to have suffered from diabetes over the years.

GSAC has appealed to the FG and Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha to use their board of mercy an release him, his 78-year-old relation and son from prison.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has banned Falz’s This is Nigeria from being aired on radio. They said the song contains vulgar lyrics and unfit to air on radio.

This was made known on Twitter by broadcaster, Folaranmi Folayan, who shared the picture of a letter the NBC sent to a radio station for airing the song.

Sharing the image, she wrote:

Apparently Falz’s line “this is Nigeria; look how we living now. everybody be criminal” has been flagged “vulgar” and the song is now declared “unfit for radio”.

Excerpt of the letter which she was referring to below:

“The Commission has observed with great concern the continuous airing of vulgar and indecent music lyrics inspite of our warnings both verbal and written to the station.

“On 30th July, 2018 at about 9:56am, your station aired a song by falz titled “This is Nigeria” laced with vulgar lyrics: “this is Nigeria, look how we are living now, everybody be criminal”.

“Also, an 15‘ August, 2018 at about 3:50pm you aired a song by Wande Coal titled “Iskaba” With vulgar lyrics: “Girl you dey make me kolo, shaking the ass like kolo”, in contravention of Section 3.6.1 and 3.13.2.2c.”

South African Rapper ProKid Dead

Award winning South African rapper, Linda Mkhize popularly known as “ProKid” has died..

The rapper, 37, died on Wednesday night after suffering severe seizures.

Times Live disclosed that ProKid’s family released a statement early Thursday morning, their first since he passed on.

An excerpt of the statement reads:

The legendary SA hip-hop artist affectionately known as ProKid … passed away on Wednesday. He suffered a severe seizure attack while visiting friends and paramedics were called in to assist. They did their best to revive him to no avail and called his time of death at 8.38pm…Further details will be furnished as soon as his family has gathered.” The grieving family have also asked for privacy during this trying time.

Following his shocking demise, fans and celebrities have poured out tributes via social media.
