How Police in Abuja allegedly helped killer of Corp member escape after an accident

The Police in Abuja has been accused of allegedly helping the killer of serving corp members escape after causing a fatal accident that killed a young man, identified as Tony.

Tony was a member of the Capital Movement in the City and his colleagues alleged that the first respondent after the accident, instead of rushing the victim to the hospital, resorted to looting his car and then making attempt for the BMW car of the culprit to be towed away.

On the 29th of July at 4am the morning after TCM Festival, Tony Zitta a corper serving in Abuja and a Founding member of the Capital movement was driving home and was hit at the junction of Diamond bank, Wuse II alongAdemola Adetokumbo.

An unidentified BMW 325 CI rammed into Tony’s Toyota Camry leaving him unconscious. Witnesses at the scene claim that the first police response unit instead of helping him, looted Tony (who was with the ticket money from the event) and looted his vehicle.

The police also helped the driver of the BMW to escape, clearing his vehicle and removing his license plate. Then leaving Tony there to die. Here is a picture of the Unidentified BMW. Please RT so we can identify the owner.

Some ladies at the scene however came and intervened as the first policemen tried to steal his items successfully saving his computer and camera.

As the ladies created a commotion other people came and made sure the second group of responders carried the BMW and Tony’s camry to the police station as some friends of the BMW owner had sent a tow truck to try and move the BMW away from the crime scene.

Meanwhile an unidentified female Samaritan rushed Tony to Garki hospital where they said they could not handle his situation, as they believed he had a brain injury and supposedly took a CT scan then referred him to Wuse General Hospital where they were told there was no space

He was referred to Gwagwalada teaching hospital an hour away. They claimed they drained his head of blood & he was stabilizing. The family & friends brought several doctors & neurosurgeons to see him but the hospital didnt allow claimin he was ok. Then on Monday morning he passed.

There are so many conversations that should be had concerning the death of Tony Zitta and we all need to make sure his death wasn’t in vain. Because at the end of the day it was not only the accident that killed him but the System.

It is most unfortunate that there was no member of the Team aware of the accident that night. It’s been a hard time for us all. Tony was the heart and soul of the movement & the thought of going on without him is unbearable. Tony will forever live on with each and everyone of us.

On this day 21 years ago, Fela Anikulapo Kuti a Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, musician, composer, pioneer of the Afrobeat music genre, human rights activist, and political maverick died at the age of 58 from complications related to AIDS.

If the Nigerian legend were still alive, he would have clocked 80 on October 15, 2018 unfortunately that day will be the climax of the annual Felabration Music Festival held in his honour.

Veteran Christian film producer, Mike Bamiloye has advised men to take more caution in looking beyond physical beauty when in search for a potential bride.

He made this statement in chat with The Punch, and also talked about what people need to do in order to have a blissful marriage.

“Men who want to get married, who desire to have the right lady, must not depend upon beauty because there are a lot of packaged beauties these days among ladies. You can’t trust the hair they have on, nor how beautiful they appear because it may have been packaged with makeup. Men should rather be patient and seek a woman that fears God.”

The film-maker further stated that a beautiful and career-inclined woman should not be a top priority when selecting a future partner.

Reacting to allegations from non-fans who claimed that a recent post by him on Instagram suggested that cooking should be left to women, Bamiloye said:

“I do help my wife in the kitchen. It is the will of God that every woman must be able to care for her husband but that does not mean men should not help their wives in the kitchen.”

He described his wife, Gloria Bamiloye, who is also an actress as an excellent cook capable of cooking the different delicacies he craved for.

He strongly noted that a lot of women out there were not prepared for marriage but were praying for husbands.

“Most women these days are focusing more on material things, which is also one of the things contributing to marriage break-ups. Some women are 28 but are not ripe for marriage because, even at that age, they are still dependent on people for many personal things.

“Such women, if they get married, end up calling their mothers at home for cooking recipes and asking people to wash for them,” he added.

The film-maker also spoke about his current plans in his film ministration, saying the reception was bigger than expected.

“The ministration is growing and getting better. We are currently working on the second part of  Abejoye, which had about 350 premieres worldwide,” Bamiloye added.

APC orders Bukola Saraki to resign as Senate President

The APC caucus rose from a meeting with President Buhari on Wednesday and ordered defecting Senate President, Bukola Saraki to resign from the Senate.

The APC still maintains majority of the seats with 53 senators.

The National Chairman of APC, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, called for Saraki’s resignation when he emerged from a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Oshiomhole told State House correspondents in Abuja that the Senate President should as “a matter of honour leave the crown in the house that the crown belongs”.

Some senators elected on the platform of the APC led by the Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan were also at the meeting held with the President Buhari at the Presidential Villa.

“But whatever is the reason, we can decamp from the party but we can’t decamp from Nigeria.

“The only thing is that there are other consequential issues that every man or woman of honour, who had taken such decisions would be expected to follow through.

“I mean you should not collect a crown that belongs to a family and wear it on behalf of the family if for your personal reasons which he has enumerated that he has gone to another family. It is just a matter of honour to leave the crown in the house that the crown belongs to,” Oshiomhole said.

He maintains that the ruling party still has the largest party in the Senate.

“As it stands even now, APC is still the largest party in the Senate, we have 53 senators, that is much more than PDP has, or APGA has.

“I have been consistent with that during the campaign, I have been consistent since I was sworn in. I have made the points in my acceptance speech, I have emphasised this when I met with the Senate caucus and speech.

I have emphasised this when I met with the House of Representatives caucus, that we are ready to do justice to anyone who is genuinely aggrieved and whose grievances are such that we can deal with them provided we enthrone justice, fairness and all sides purge themselves of any arrogance.

“To the best of my knowledge, all senators, house of reps members were happy, the ones that are not negotiable, there is nothing we can do about it.”

Oshiomhole also claimed that the defection is not surprising. According to him, the defectors had previously given clear signs before now.

“Nobody in the APC will be surprised about the development, in fact, they have stayed a little bit longer than we thought.

Last week the Kwara has State Governor was alluded to have said he was leaving but he didn’t say when.

“So, we are not surprised at all.”

Saraki defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday he party he and some of his supporters, including five governors left in 2014.

He said his return to the party after winning the senate president’s seat on the platform of APC, according to him was to enjoy a greater sense of belonging and in the interest of a greater number of Nigerians.

Similar to what happened in 2014, Saraki has left APC with governors of Kwara, Sokoto and Benue state for now also with his protégé APC Spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi.

National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole and some senators elected on the platform of the party led by the Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan, on Wednesday met behind closed doors with President Muhamamdu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting came amidst the gale of defections being witnessed in the party.

Oshiomhole told State House correspondents at the end of the meeting that the right thing for the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, is to vacate his seat, having left the party.

He said it was a matter of honour for Saraki to leave “the crown” in the family it belongs to.

Oshiomhole said ;

He, however, admitted that it was a tempting moment for the party.

He added, “Nobody in the APC will be surprised about the development. In fact, they have stayed a little bit longer than we thought.

“Last week, the Kwara State Governor said he was leaving, but he didn’t say when. So, we are not surprised at all.

“But these are what I might call temping moments because I had faced similar situations in my state, when people were leaving.

“But the beauty of democracy is that whether big or small, it is one man, one vote, on election day. There is no difference between a senator, a president, a journalist and any other person.

“In a sense, we have to accept that once a couple for one reason or the other find out that they are not compatible, the only honourable thing is to go.”

Oshiomhole said he was happy that Saraki admitted that he (Oshiomhole) and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, as well as some state governors, tried their best to resolve the matter that led to his exit.

“But he argued that those efforts came too late. But I couldn’t have started acting before I was born,” the party chairman said.

While admitting that there are lessons to be learn from the development, Oshiomhole said going forward, he would expect the system to get stronger to the extent that it is able to learn the correct lessons and take the correct steps.

After spending 13 years, popular Cable News Network (CNN) reporter, Isha Sesay has announced her exit from the organization.

British born journalist of Sierra Leonean descent broke the news on social media a few minutes ago saying “it’s really happening, folks!! After more than a decade behind the desk with those three red letters… I HAVE LEFT CNN.”

Speaking on her exit in an interview with Whatweseeee, She said:

“It’s an exciting time for me — and a nerve-wracking one,” she says. “I’m writing a book about the Chibok girls, it’s being released in May 2019.

LeBron James opens school that is completely free in his hometown

LeBron James is a Los Angeles Laker from Akron, Ohio. He has opened a completely free school in his hometown in Ohio.

On Monday, before heading to Califoria, LeBron James unveiled his I Promise School, which will benefit at-risk students.

It is public and part of Akron Public Schools, which paid $2.9 million from its general fund for the cost of most benefits, salaries, supplies and essential elements for the school, according to Akron Beacon Journal.

James’ I Promise School built in Akron, Ohio, opened on Monday July 30th. The school will provide everything for free, including:

  • Free tuition
  • Free uniforms
  • Free bicycle and helmet
  • Free transportation within 2 miles
  • Free breakfast, lunch, and snacks
  • Free pantry for families
  • Job placement services for parents
  • Guaranteed tuition to the University of Akron for every student who graduates.

The public school is considered the first of its kind and will serve low-income and at-risk students in Lebron’s hometown.

Lebron has done a lot to give back to his community but the I Promise School will be King James’ crown jewel. The 240-person population of third- and fourth-graders is made up of students “identified by Akron Public Schools as behind in critical academic areas and other factors.”

He insisted that his institution be a public school, as he could relate to the pitfalls that Akron youth must face.

Impressively, the school boasts a 20-to-1 student-teacher ratio, year-round programming and a 9-to-5 school day to keep its children engaged.

President Buhari visits proposed Presidential Campaign Office for next year’s election (Photos)

President Buhari took his time off today to visit the proposed presidential campaign office for next year’s election.

Buhari today inspected the renovation works done at the proposed Buhari-Osinbajo Campaign office in Abuja.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists.

Adesina quoted the President as expressing satisfaction on the renovation carried out on the building.

The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari took time off late Wednesday afternoon to visit the proposed presidential campaign office for next year’s election.

“The same building at Herbert Macaulay Way, Central Area, Abuja, had served as campaign headquarters for the 2015 election.

“On the President’s entourage were his Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; and other senior government officials.

“On hand to receive the delegation was Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who took the President round the newly refurbished structure.

“President Buhari expressed satisfaction with the face lift, and thanked all those who worked to give the office a befitting look.”

He was pictured with Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi, Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, Director Logistics Buhari Campaign Organisation Nasiru Danu, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, Hon. Farouk Lawal and SGF Boss Mustapha.

Davido currently has over seven million followers on Instagram, which makes him the most followed Nigerian on the photo sharing platform.

His long-time music rival, Wizkid, who holds the honour of being the second most followed Nigerian or brand is a long way from him at over five million.

This is as good as it gets for the Omo Baba Olowo but not everyone is completely sold on the number of his followers.

Two Instagram users, @kinglucyy and @amarabiish have questioned the originality of the ‘Aye’ crooner’s followers, insinuating that most of his followers might have been fake or cloned followers instead of real people and their reasoning, which they claimed was a result of intensive research and analysis, is based on the number of likes and comments the Nigerian pop idol gets, compared to his arch rival, Wizkid’s.

@kinglucyy claims he counted the number of likes of one Davido’s post which saw over a thousand in 5 minutes and was surprised, after his manual counting that it was actually 217 likes, and not 1000 as stated.

Read his post: “Truth is Davido has 7M followers and Wizkid has 5.6M followers but Wizkid has more likes on his posts than Davido.

“Now listen to this: One day Davido posted a picture and within 5 minutes it had 1000 comments, a friend of mine counted and it was exactly 217 at that moment, he told Davido about it .

“And immediately he told him Davido blocked him. His argument is that, with Davido having almost 1.5 million more followers than Wizkid, his posts should get more responses and not the other way round.”

It is a common knowledge that entertainers and brand influencers buy followers to boost their status. But it is inconceivable that someone of Davido’s popularity would toe that line. And another Instagram user @thickerbody-9ja responded to @kinglucyy’s claims in defence of Davido

“Wizkid doesn’t post often, so each time he posts, he is sure to get more engagements than Davido. Because Davido posts almost everyday, most of his followers may not care to like or comment sometimes. Social media pages work differently for everyone.

Davido does not need to buy followers.

Earlier today, Davido had replied a comment on an Instagram page about his Porsche gift to Chioma.

The IG user who made the comment, @kingpatrickgb didn’t mention Davido’s name, however he was quick to reply him which left many surprised.

Turns out they have a history, hence, Davido’s need to single out his comment.

According to findings by Misspetitenaija, there is an underlying /impending legal battle between Davido’s DMW label and Patrick’s label, Goldenboy Records over singer, Peruzzi.

It is claimed Patrick who is the CEO of Goldenboy entertainment, signed Peruzzi to his label and the contract expires in 2019. However, Peruzzi went against his contract and gave Davido most of his hit songs in 2017 including the smash hit, FIA.

It is also revealed Perruzi is not officially signed to DMW as it was just hype.

Dr Sid has shared his side of the story in the Mohits split that rocked the nation a few years ago.

Dbanj had fingered Dr Sid to be the reason for the breakup.

He said Dr Sid was jealous because he felt Dbanj was overshadowing his glory.

Speaking in a new interview, Dr Sid responded to these accusations.

He said:

“It was very painful because anybody that knows me knows that I am a team player. I will sacrifice my personal gain for the sake of the team. Next to D’banj in Mo Hits, there was nobody who could command a stage like Dr Sid, but I never was the guy who threw myself out there, I was all about how to make the team better.”

“When somebody names you as the reason why something like that happened, it hurts especially when you know the truth”. / “For me, I fought hard to keep it together. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be”.

“So for that situation to go down like that and people turn on me like that, I spent a lot of night crying and it really affected me in a lot of ways, but I have moved on.”

It should be noted that trouble started within this famous group after Dbanj and Don Jazzy were signed to American rapper/producer, Kanye West’s Good Music label in 2010.

In 2015, Dbanj spilled the beans on why Mohits broke up. He said Don Jazzy expressed his discomfort with staying in New York and leveraging their new contracts when they could remain in Nigeria where they were “already bosses.”

According to Dbanj, Jazzy remained unconvinced and eventually sought to dissolve their partnership.

Dbanj said things came to a head at a general meeting in 2011, where the entire Mo’hits crew, including his own brother, K-Switch decided they did not want to work with him any longer.

The crew then was made up of Dbanj and his brother K-Switch; Don Jazzy and his brother, D’Prince; crooner, Wande Coal and Dr Sid.

Still, it is unclear why Dbanj singles out Dr Sid in particular.

During, the interview, a leaked tape was played, where Dr Sid was heard saying that Dbanj, despite one of the founders of Mo’Hits and his boss, did nothing for his career.

He was chatting with popstar, Davido.

Davido was heard saying: “Guy, it is not that D’banj can help anybody. Like if (American rapper) Lil Wayne calls me, I’ll surely go and meet him. If not for D’banj, nobody would have looked at Wande; am I lying?”

To which Dr Sid responded, “Mehn I don’t know. Tanzania and Nairobi, who will they call? It’s Dbanj obviously. Dbanj did more negative than positive for my career (…)”

After Mo’Hits split in 2012, Don Jazzy moved on to form Mavin Records which initially included Wande Coal, D’Prince, Dr Sid and Tiwa Savage. K-Switch went with his brother who created DB Records.

Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity revealed this in a statement on Wednesday.

He said:

“President Muhammadu Buhari begins a 10 working days holiday from August 3, 2018.

“In compliance with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution, a letter has been transmitted to the President of the Senate, and the Speaker, House of Representatives to that effect.

“While the President is on vacation, the Vice President will be in acting capacity as President.

Man who killed Serena Williams’ sister released and rearrested

The man whom authorities said fatally shot Venus and Serena Williams‘ sister, Yetunde Price in 2003 was released from prison earlier this year, after more than a decade behind bars.

However, it appears Robert Edward Maxfield was re-arrested on Friday night in Compton, California, and remains in custody after allegedly violating his parole, according to Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials and jail records.

The nature of the alleged violation was unclear Tuesday night.

A spokesman with the state’s Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, who confirmed the release of the Maxfield in Price’s case, could not immediately say if it was the same Maxfield who was arrested in Compton.

The men in both cases share identical biographical information though, including age, name and race. Price was also killed in Compton.

Speaking generically, DOC spokesman Luis Patiño tells PEOPLE that someone who violates their parole then goes before a judge and could have their parole revoked, at which point they would be sent back to jail.

The Maxfield in Price’s case, now 38, pleaded no contest in 2006 to voluntary manslaughter in Price’s death just after midnight on Sept. 14, 2003, the Associated Press previously reported.

Maxfield had been charged with murder but accepted the lesser count on the eve of his third trial, following two mistrials.

Maxfield was sentenced in April 2006 to 15 years in prison and he was paroled in March, according to state corrections officials.

Patiño, the DOC spokesman, could not say for how long Maxfield was set to be paroled after his release — but he disputed reports that Maxfield was freed “early.”

He served nearly three years in jail, between his arrest and sentencing, and was then placed in prison where he served nearly another 12 years before his March parole, according to Patiño.

Price, who was 31 and the mother of three children at the time of her death, was a nurse and the owner of an L.A.-area hair salon. She also worked as a personal assistant to her tennis superstar sisters, Serena and Venus.

She was one of the Williams’ three other sisters, a half-sibling from a previous relationship between their mother, Oracene Price, and Yusef Rasheed.

The Williams sisters have not commented on Maxfield’s release. (Prosecutors also declined to comment.) But Serena reportedly faced him in court in 2006.

She said then that she initially wasn’t “going to speak … because it’s too hard for me to talk.”

However, she said she wanted to tell Maxfield “that this was unfair to our family, and our family has always been positive and we always try to help people,” according to the Times.

Identical twin brothers set to marry identical twin sisters and live in same house

After living together all their lives, two identical twin brothers have decided to marry two identical twin sisters.

Identical twin brothers in Michigan are going to marry identical twin sisters in a joint ceremony before moving in together in the same two-bedroom apartment.

Zack and Nick Lewan, 24, have been inseparable since birth. So have their future wives Krissie and Kassie Bevier, also 24.

The couples said they do everything ‘in twos’ and that includes getting married.

According to the Jackson Citizen Patriot, Krissie and Zack and Kassie and Nick plan on tying the knot in back-to-back weddings this weekend. The couples will then share their reception on Saturday night before moving into their two-bedroom apartment to start their new lives.

Krissie and Zack’s wedding will take place on August 3, the outlet reports. Kassie and Nick’s on August 4.

‘I’m in disbelief sometimes of just how everything happened,’ Nick told WILX-TV .

Krissie said it was important that she and her sister get their own wedding days as ‘being a twin, you never get anything on your own’. However, since their guest lists are pretty much identical they decided to have their ceremonies a day apart.

The couples also plan to spend a few days of their honeymoons separate. They will each travel to Florida – four days apart – to celebrate their weddings and only spend a few days at Disney World together.

Kassie and Nick first met as students at Grand Valley state University four years ago. They brought their siblings along on their first date to a church service. Krissie and Zack hit off immediately and started dating shortly after.

The twins are so close that they even planned their engagements on the same day. Nick and Zack both popped the question to their significant others last year during a family trip to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn.

‘It basically happened at the same time … which is par for the course for us,’ Kassie said. ‘We do things in twos.’

The couples plan to move in together into a two-bedroom apartment in Fenton, but said that even though they do things together they are still ‘individuals’.

‘We work differently and we have different interests, and just respect each other for those differences,’ Zack said.

The couples said they click so well because they were brought up with the same family values.

‘We just flow together and it makes sense,’ Krissie said. ‘There is a special twin bond, and having someone who understands that is huge.’

APC issues Bukola Saraki 48 hours ultimatum to reply query

APC attacks Saraki

The APC has given Senate President, Bukola Saraki a 48-hour ultimatum to respond to the query of breaching Article 21 of the Party’s constitution.

According to reports from Guardian, the National Working Committee of the APC in reaction to his defection, has asked Saraki to respond with why disciplinary action should not be taken against him for breaching the constitution of the party.

Recall on Tuesday, Saraki had announced he has left APC to join the PDP saying his new party has learnt more from defeat than APC learned from victory.

The party in a resolution signed by its National Secretary, Mai Malla Buni said the Senate president had flouted the laws of the party with his activities.

APC alleged that the senate president “encouraged and facilitated by providing an enabling environment for the defection of some senators who are members of the APC to the other opposition parties.”

The statement stated:

“That you have deliberately refused to screen nominees for appointments submitted by Mr President who are members of the party from being confirmed by the senate. This has caused untold embarrassment and ridicule to the party and the government.

“That as a follow up to the above, the Kwara State Governor, who is known to be your staunch supporter, had made public pronouncements suggesting that he will decamp from the party as an indicator to your formal defection. That you have organized a public rally in your state where members of the party urged you to decamp to PDP.

“That you used the office of the Senate President to cause avoidable delays in the budgetary process and passage of the appropriation act into law thereby frustrating the implementation of the party’s manifesto and programs and frustrating the APC led Federal Government in the actualization of the campaign promises of the party.”

The APC also accused Saraki of frustrating the party’s efforts to reconcile aggrieved members and encouraged the formation of an association which sought to impersonate and pass off the name of the party.

“Converting the guest house of the Senate President to meeting points and presiding over anti-party activities in the guest house; thereby, encouraging defection of senators from the party, presiding over such meetings and compiling a list of the said defectors including some without their consent,”

“Procuring joint letter of decamped members from the APC and reading same on the floor of the senate including some who did not accede to defecting thereby causing embarrassment to the party.” APC said.
