A man has been arrested by the Police in Niger State for allegedly raping an 11 year old girl at By-Water Area, Lambata of the state.
The man identified as God’stime Okon allegedly lured the victim to his room where he forcefully had carnal knowledge of the young girl, while warning her against informing anyone.
It was learnt that the incident occurred sometime on July 17 this year.
Northern City News gathered on Sunday that Okon had engaged in rape of minors for many years before he was apprehended.
The suspect told our correspondent that he was attracted to underage girls, saying he found it difficult to exercise self-control.
“It has become part of me; anytime I set my eyes on small beautiful girls, I got aroused and it has been affecting me adversely.
“Even If I am on a bike, I will stop and say hello to the girl before I continue on my way and it’s something I cannot control, honestly,” he said.
The suspect said that he did not regard it as a criminal act until he found himself in police custody.
Okon however regretted his action and begged the girl’s parents for forgiveness, promising to turn a new leaf.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, said the suspect had confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Abubakar admonished parents to always know the whereabouts of their children especially girls to protect them from sexual predators.
He added that the suspect would be charged to court after investigation.

Social Media Giants, Facebook and Instagram have taken steps to battle addiction with the introduction of ‘time management tools’.
In a statement, the social media giants — which are both owned by Facebook — announced “new tools to help people manage their time” spent on the platforms.
Among the tools are a way to limit notifications, and a dashboard that allows users to keep track of how much time they have spent on the platforms.
“We want the time people spend on Instagram and Facebook to be intentional, positive and inspiring,” the statement said.
“Our hope is that these tools give people more control over the time they spend on our platforms and also foster conversations between parents and teens about the online habits that are right for them,” it added.
Facebook said it was introducing a daily reminder, whereby users are alerted when they reach the time limit they set for themselves to spend on the app.
It is also introducing an option to deactivate notifications on smartphones.
Facebook has in recent months introduced a string of changes to its content, including a major plan earlier this year to update its newsfeed to emphasise posts from friends and family.
That shift had prompted fears it could drive away advertisers if people spent less time on the social network.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg had announced the changes in 2017, as his firm sought to respond to accusations that it encouraged addiction to its platform.
Earlier this year, Zuckerberg said: “In 2018, we’re focused on making sure Facebook isn’t just fun to use, but also good for people’s well-being and for society.”
Since the measures were introduced, viral videos have seen a significant drop in reach.
The plan in turn saw a 5 percent drop in time spent on Facebook in the last quarter of 2017.

The Nigerian Police in Adamawa state stopped a peaceful protest organized by the Adamawa State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) earlier today.
According to PUNCH, the peaceful protest called by the Adamawa State CAN Chairman, Bishop Stephen Mamza, on Wednesday, drew a large turnout from Christians who trooped to St. Theresa Catholic Church, the venue initially planned for the take-off of the procession.
It was gathered that shortly before the take-off of the protest scheduled for 9am, Mamza told the congregants who had turned up for the protest that the police had canceled it.
CAN said the protest was to draw the government’s attention to the protection of human lives whether Christian, Muslim or Fulani. He gave an instance of the recent attacks in Mayo-Belwa which claimed the lives of several Fulani.
CAN also spoke against the Federal Government’s neglect of the state on matters of security. It said the FG’s silence was disturbing because the killings have not abated.
Mamza who said the procession would have afforded the church the opportunity to present its petition to the State Governor, Mohammed
Jibrilla, who will then pass it on to President Muhammadu Buhari, was refused the permission for the peaceful procession.
“The police have refused to grant us the permission but they cannot refuse us access to God. The police have no authority to stop us access to God.”
A 22-year-old lady identified as Alexis has revealed how becoming an £150-an-hour (over N75,000 per hour) escort has made her feel like a ‘new woman’ after growing disillusioned with online dating.
Alexis entered the world of sex work in a bid to find ‘fun and excitement’ after a spate of bad experiences with men, and told the cameras her first experience was not as ‘sleazy’ as she thought it would be.
According to The Sun UK, ALexis signed up to Cardiff’s largest escort agency – the name of which was not given – where she offered a 66 per cent cut of her hourly fee.
Alexis’s agency manager, Laurence, insists he is selling nothing more than ‘time and companionship’ – and anything that takes place during a booking is ‘mutually consenting’ between the woman and the client.
During their first meeting, he told Alexis:
‘You’ve got quite a unique look, we’ll present you as an ebony princess.’
Laurence advised the newbie to ensure her clients hands over cash at beginning of a ‘meeting’ and to wear ‘expensive and classy’ clothing.
Alexis – whose family and friends had no idea about her new career path – was quickly inundated with offers from clients and described her apprehension during a taxi ride to her first booking.
‘I don’t really know what I’m getting myself into,’ she admitted. ‘I’m just nervous that it’s not going to be what I expected it to be.’
But after the hour was up, she was full of praise for her ‘really nice’ client – while conceding that he was ‘quite chubby’ and not her usual type.
Reflecting on the ‘awkward’ encounter later on, she said:
‘As soon as I gave him the money, he started taking off his shoes and put his socks on the radiator… he took off his jacket and was unbuckling his belt.
‘The things he was saying in my ear, it just felt good.’ Alexis concluded that for an hour’s company, it was ‘easy work’.
‘It’s not as cheap or sleazy as I thought it would be given that he’s quite a bit older than me,’ she mused. ‘I felt like I was on an expensive date. I felt like I was his wife almost.’

A stray dog has been awarded a medal after completing a half-marathon in outback Australia and winning the hearts of its human competitors.
The cross-breed diligently ran the 21-kilometre (13-mile) Goldfields Pipeline Marathon near the West Australian town of Kalgoorlie this month in two-and-a-half hours, the average time of participants.
A total of 94 participants ran Australia’s Ellery Brookman Goldfields Pipeline Half Marathon earlier in July. The typical finisher had approximately 2.02 legs.
The average was thrown off by a local stray dog named Stormy, who met the runners before the race and then, citing a light schedule of licking himself and sleeping for 18 yards that day, decided to join them.
Stormy ran the course diligently, hitting every checkpoint and finishing with an estimated time of 2:30 — good enough for a top 70 finish. Despite not wearing a bib, the very good dog was recognized for his efforts, earning a medal for running 13.1 miles despite stumpy legs.
“This dog is walking around, making itself known to all the runners. We get the air horn out and say ‘Go’ and off he goes with everybody,” volunteer coordinator Allison Hunter told Australia’s ABC News.”
Speaking with all the aid stations and marshals later, we found out he stopped at every single one.”
Stormy didn’t get much time to revel in his accomplishment, however. Rangers took the canine from the finish line, which is a pet-free zone, to the pound after no one claimed him at the end of the race. He’ll spend up to seven days in dog jail waiting for his owner to pick him up.
Organizers were told the good boy is a year-old resident of a local Aboriginal community who doesn’t have a single owner, but knows everyone in town.
If no one claims the rugged half-marathoner pup by the end of the week, he’ll be put up for adoption. Anyone in western Australia looking for a running mate will be able to apply to give him his forever home for a cost of about $300, plus expenses.
Pls spread the word about this evil girl to create awareness before she gets another victim. It could have been any one of us. Sexual harassment is real and should not be tolerated.
Guys, don’t dress in a compromising way or hangout in compromising places. You might be inadvertently bringing this on yourself. #menawarenesshttps://t.co/iirP0RHEYS
It’s a pathetic situation we have found ourselves in this generation. Ladies raping or taking advantage of poor and helpless men. Parents need to do more in training their daughters. Parents should constantly discuss consent with their daughters. God help male gender.
Why? Because Men cannot be taken advantage of? He was drunk and she tried to grab his penis!. Thank God for his life, it would have been a different story by now. Women need to teach their daughters to do better. No means no. Stop taking advantage of drunk men.
This is saddening. Thank you for the boldness to speak out. Please talk to someone close I am sure you will be fine. Stay safe bro. https://t.co/NSPuns3hDD

The Bayelsa State Government has decided to start placing Pregnant women in the state on a N3,000 monthly allowance to cover the cost of antenatal care.
This was made known by Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, who announced a monthly allowance of N3,000 for pregnant women in the state.
Seriake Dickson made the announcement while speaking during the maiden Infant and Maternal Mortality Summit held in Yenagoa, the state capital, on Monday.
He said the allowance was meant to cover the cost of antenatal care for expectant mothers every month.
He said:
“In order to make it possible for every pregnant woman to deliver safely and to ensure that they are accounted for, supervised and supported throughout pregnancy up to the time of delivery, the government is announcing a safe maternity allowance of N3,000 per month to every pregnant woman in Bayelsa.
“From the moment a Bayelsa woman and every woman living in Bayelsa becomes pregnant, she is entitled to N3,000 until her delivery.
“But that money will be accessed upon registration in your nearest health care facility for antenatal services. Those who are attending to you will ensure they run a simple test to ensure that you are pregnant.
“As they confirm that, they will enrol you for the antenatal programme, which should not be more than nine months. From that month, through the recommendation of that health care centre, you will receive N3,000 every month until you deliver.
“This is not just about making money available, but ensuring that the health team gives me a monthly report of the number of women who have been registered in the safe motherhood programme from each local government, as well as the report of their pregnancies and delivery.”

The names of the convicts were given as Bernard Ajomaya, Christian Naya, Daniel West and Shedrach Dala.
They were accused of kidnapping a medical expert in Uyo, Dr Usen Bassey, on May 19, 2015, and demanding N10m ransom.
They were later arrested with part of their loot, the passport and financial documents belonging to the doctor.
