WAEC: Lagos candidates yet to get WASSCE results two weeks after release

It’s been 2 weeks since the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) released results of the WASSCE exam, and students of Lagos State Public Schools are yet to access their results.

A source from the Lagos State Ministry of Education, who pleaded anonymity, told The Nation that the non-release of the result may not be unconnected to the non-completion of the payment of the examination fees by the Lagos State government.

The Lagos State government pays the WASSCE fees for SS3 pupils of its public schools

“Some public school students have not seen their results because the process to pay the money was incomplete. But they are working on it,” the source said.

However, the Head of Public Affairs, WAEC, Demianus Ojijeogu, insisted the result had been released.

“It has been released. The result is online already. You can quote me,” he said in a phone chat.

Drama As Robbery Victim Runs Into Armed Robber Who Attacked Him Inside Ondo Hospital

Nemesis caught up with a wanted robbery suspect, Bukola Adeoye, when one of his victims, who came for treatment in a hospital for injuries inflicted on him by Adeoye, identified him, as he was in same hospital for injuries sustained after a gun battle with policemen in Ondo State.

According to Vanguard, Bukola, alias Agbara, who died hours later having confessed his robbery activities to detectives, robbed one Gbenga Babatomi, 48, of Sabo area, Ore, the previous night and inflicted several machete injuries on him.

Babatomi went to the hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained during a robbery operation led by Bukola

He was one of the two robbery suspects that escaped from Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, operatives few weeks ago in handcuffs. No fewer than four Police detectives have been in detention since the suspects’ escape.

The other suspect, Rotimi Adeyeye, according to the Police, is yet to be arrested.

Parading the suspects, the state Police Commissioner, Gbenga Adeyanju, said the detectives from SARS, Akure, received information that the escapee-suspects were taking cover in the house of one of their girlfriends, Loveth, in Akure.

Adeyanju said: “On July 17, at 9a.m., detectives from Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Akure, received information that the robbery suspects, one Bukola Adeoye, alias Agbara, and one Rotimi Adeyeye, were taking cover in the house of one Loveth Ogbu.

“A team of detectives swooped on the said Loveth Ogbu, arrested her and, on interrogation, she confessed that the escaped robbery suspects were in Ore.

“Based on her confession, detectives mobilised to Ore and arrested one Felix Eteti, aged 27 years, of Ebenezer Street, Sabo, who is a member of the gang.

“On July 18, at 2a.m., the team received a distress call from members of the public that robbers were operating at Sabo Area, Ore.

“Detectives trailed the robbers to a primary school in Ore. On sighting the detectives, the robbers opened fire on them and during exchange of fire one of the suspects, Adeoye, sustained gunshot injury on his right leg.

“He was rushed to General Hospital, Ore, where he died few hours after.

“However, one Gbenga Babatomi, 48, of Sabo, who was earlier robbed by Bukola Adeoye and his gang the previous night, came to the same hospital to treat the machete cuts inflicted on him by the robbers, identified Bukola Adeoye as one of the robbers that attacked him.

“Items recovered from the suspects are one cut-to-size gun, three cutlasses, one empty shell and four live cartridges.”

The couple got married on July 19th 2003 and have two children, a boy and a girl.

Fayose raises alarm

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has raised alarm over a police helicopter which he says hovers around the government house in Ado-Ekiti.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, the governor said the action by the police is posing a threat to his personal safety, that of his family, workers and visitors who are in the Government House.

“They continue to fly helicopters over the Government House and Governor’s Office in a way that compromises the safety and well-being of residents and workers. The helicopter flies so low that it runs the risk of crashing into high-rise buildings and masts within the premises. The noise pollution this causes is enough irritation.

This brazen show of naked force and abuse of power is as ungodly as it is undemocratic. If the security forces belong to all Nigerians and not to President Muhammadu Buhari and APC, it should not be biased in this blatant manner. It is unprofessional of the security forces to allow themselves be this debased, running APC errands when they are funded with resources that belong to all of us.

They are obligated by the Constitution to be apolitical and not willing tools in the hands of the powers-that-be Once again, I say I will not be intimidated. I will stand on my feet until every injustice is upturned and the freedom and liberties of our people are restored. The thief runneth when no one pursueth. They are afraid of their shadows.”

Bovi asked

Bovi has put forward a question to his social media followers concerning the conduct displayed by Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, the President of the Republic of Croatia, who hugged players of her national team after they lost to France.

Reacting to a video showing Kolinda hugging the players in the dressing room while most of them were just bare-chested, Bovi wondered if a male president can be allowed to try such if the players were females.

He wrote:

“One of the stars of the World Cup. Loved her all round natural display. I watched as she went into the locker room of the players after defeating England and reaching the finals. Like a loving mother, she hugged each and every one of them (most of them were shirtless and on briefs). Today is Kate Henshaw’s 47th birthday. Congratulations are in order for the talented act who is also an event host.

Kate Henshaw (born 19 July 1971), is a Nigerian actress. In 2008 she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

In 1993 Henshaw auditioned for the lead role in the movie When the Sun Sets and was handed the role. This was her first appearance in a major Nollywood movie. Henshaw has starred in over 45 Nollywood movies.

In 2008 she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the film Stronger than Pain. She is now “The Face of Onga”. Henshaw is a judge on Nigeria’s Got Talent.

Ex-Presidential fleet commander warns FG – ‘Nigeria Air’ will fail if….”

A former Director of Flight Operations of the defunct Nigeria Airways, Captain Dele Ore, has reiterated the need for the Federal Government to pay off workers of the airline for the new national carrier to succeed.

Ore, who spoke against the backdrop of plan by the Federal Government to re-fleet the national carrier by December, said he supported the idea of bringing back the national carrier provided the pensions of the former Nigeria Airways workers were cleared.

It was gathered that government had approved the sum of N45bn being the estimated pensions of the former workers, but almost one year after the approval by the Federal Executive Council, the ex-workers have still not been paid.

Ore, a former commandant of the Presidential Fleet, said he was pained that government had been dilly-dallying with the payment while many of his colleagues have died in the struggle and others left wallowing in abject poverty. “Which way is it going? Unveiling name? That doesn’t mean anything, that is paper airline. To me it still doesn’t make any meaning until an inaugural flight goes with passengers then you can say it has arrived. Until that time, there’s no airline,” he said.

Capt. Ore disclosed that over 800 of his colleagues have died, adding, “Some only needed N5000 to buy medication. It is terrible, some children have been out of school for five years, families have separated. Just pay whatever is due or part of it. Let the people go and use that to repair whatever is left of their lives.”

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has sought public opinions on his performance in the transportation sector. Amaechi disclosed this in a statement issued by his Media Aide, Mr Israel Ibeleme in Abuja.

The Minister, however, appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari and the general public for the opportunity given him to serve.

In the spirit of the celebration of the Late Great South African Leader, a debate has sprung up on social media and it is all emanating from the great name/legacy which Nelson Mandela made for himself while he was still alive.

According to South Africans on Twitter, the granddaughters and great-granddaughters of the legendary Nelson Mandela have retained the Mandela name even after marriage and there’s an argument about whether it’s right or not.

It has also been revealed that some of the husbands of Mandela’s granddaughters have taken on their wives surname, Mandela, and even gave the surname to their children just so their lineage can be associated with Mandela.

The Mandela centenary celebrations took place yesterday, July 18, 2018, to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nelson Mandela. The occasion started the surname discussion on Twitter and while some are against the women keeping their surname because it’s a popular one, some men have said they would gladly take on their wives surname if it would open doors for them.

The 30-year-old said “there must be more to life than Instagram”, adding that the app sucks people in on every level and puts a certain pressure on them.

”I’m legit thinking of quitting Instagram. The pressure it’s putting on young men and women for material things is scary, and people like me are part of the problem without even knowing it. That thing was created for one purpose, for you to want things you don’t actually need.

Nollywood Actress, Eniola Badmus has been criticized by fans after she posted a photo of herself posing like a kid on Instagram.

In the photo, the actress was squatting like a kid and this did not go well with some of her followers, who didn’t waste time to correct her.

According to one of the followers identified as @mart_c_genius on the platform, the pose is strictly meant for kids and not for matured ladies.

Apapa residents cry out as tanker loaded with petroleum product falls and spills petrol all over

Another tanker loaded with petroleum product fell at Berger suya bus stop, Olodi Apapa, Lagos, yesterday, July 18, 2018, and residents are worried that the tanker situation in the area is a disaster waiting to happen.

Yesterday’s incident is the third to happen on that same spot and each time these tankers fall, they spill their contents on the road and into gutters, risking an explosion. A day before the tragic Otedola bridge tanker explosion occurred, a tanker loaded with petrol fell at the same spot at Berger bus stop in Olodi Apapa and two days later another with diesel fell, a resident said.

Concerned residents have raised alarm about the warning signs the government has turned a blind eye to. They fear lives and properties could be lost if action is not taken soon.


One resident to spoke with the press said ;

This is the third tanker that has dropped at this particular spot and the government is doing nothing because the police are there collecting bride from them.

Right now the petrols from the tanker have all poured into the gotters and the only saving grace is the weather. Even the road is not accessible to fire tankers to come rescue because the trailers with containers have blocked everywhere.

A day before the otedola tanker explosion one loaded with petrol dropped at the same spot and two days later another with diesel.

This spot has aboki that does suya, and also a lot of business investment waiting to go up in flames because of the amount of danger this possesses for them to keep turning at this spot.

The business owners are complaining but nothing is being done. As we know Nigeria, they will wait for lives and properties to be burnt before proper action will be taking.

In Marvel’s massively successful “Black Panther” film released this year, one of the major surprises was how the superhero’s sister, tech genius Shuri, stole the show.

Now, she is getting her own comic book series.

Marvel Comics has announced a spin-off series, to begin in October, in which Black Panther is lost on a mission to space, and Shuri is looked upon to step up to fill the void left by her big brother in their mythical home nation Wakanda.

“The world fell in love with Shuri in the movie. Now, the Black Panther’s techno-genius sister launches her own adventures,” the publisher said, confirming news first published by news site Bustle.

British-Guyanese actress Letitia Wright earned praise for her portrayal of Shuri in the smash hit film, which critics agree was a groundbreaking moment for blacks on the silver screen.

While Shuri is not the first black heroine in the Marvel universe — Storm, one of the X-Men, has been around for decades — entire books dedicated to black female characters are rare.

Female Nigerian-American sci-fi author Nnedi Okorafor will write “Shuri.”

She is already working for Marvel on its “Wakanda Forever” series, which focuses on the Dora Milaje, the all-female special forces unit in the fictional nation.

According to Box Office Mojo, “Black Panther” has taken in more than $1.34 billion, making it number nine on the all-time box office list. “Avatar” is the all-time champion at nearly $2.8 billion.

The Russian President won’t be slumming it in one of the four private IL-96-300PU planes he flies in, each of which are reported to cost around £390million.

Putin flies in one of four planes, but the specific one he’s using isn’t known until take-off for security reasons.

The customised Jet he flew to Helsinki with was seriously opulent. Decor includes golden hues, white leather furniture, and marble-esque features.

Actress Georgina Onuoha’s bad habit blamed for her ex-husband’s alcohol addiction

Nollywood Actress, Georgina Onuoha’s marriage ended a while ago and a family source has shed more light on what may have led to the alcohol addiction of her husband, Dr. Ifeanyi Charles Igwegbe, which ended their marriage.

In 2015, Dr Ifeanyi was arrested for driving under influence after an accident that almost claimed the life of a woman. This led to the suspension of his  medical license.

The family source has however blamed Georgina Onuoha for the man’s misfortune with claims that she ruined his career with her bad habit. The source, Andy (last name withheld) alleged that Georgina was behind the deportation of her ex-husband’s cousin Shantel to Nigeria.

The source also said Dr Igwegbe, who helped bring the actress’s  siblings into the US, became an alcoholic out of frustration from her trouble.

Here is what the source said:

“I can Tell u more about her devilish character. Even her husband’s cousin (Shantel) who was staying with her in US was brought back to Nigeria without any cloth except the one she was putting on.

“Courtesy of same wicked Georgina. All her siblings were moved down to USA by this same hubby of hers. Dr became drunk out of frustration from Georgina’s heats.”

Nigeria’s veteran comedian, Ali Baba who is known for discussing controversial issues has taken to his official IG page @alibaba to share his relationship goals.

His words:

“I have taught this to many married women, who say their husband is too busy and several of them listened and snapped out of that if he loves you, he will find time to call and make time for you.

“Others are just set in their ways. That thought process is one reason many relationships break up, some before it even starts.

“While I agree that it’s important to be in touch, constantly, with your significant other, I also believe that there are times when work really can hold you down and shut down the world.

“Some could be jobless, have arrived, work for themselves, have light working hours, or even in careers that gives them time to waste.

“Believe it or not, there are people who can actually be busy for 4 hours straight.

“I am an MC, I have started working, sometimes, from 4pm and don’t get off till 12 midnight or even later. There are cabin crew members who are airborne for 12 hours or less.

“My point is, don’t throw away a good man, because he is always busy. Or would you rather one that is always home?

“Like I said, it’s a core part of relationships to stay in touch, but there are times all you need is understanding.

“I have a friend whose babe starts calling him from 4:30pm. Where are you? Are you still on the road? Why didn’t you pick your call?

“Are you sure you are at work? Are you not supposed to have closed? Can you video call me? Blah blah blah.

“Then he met one who doesn’t stress him. She will leave messages. How was your day? Hope the workload is not too much? You have been so busy, try and get a massage this weekend.

“Should I send you lunch? Should my driver bring you orange juice? Once you give a guy the impression that you are not concerned about his career, you are on a long thing.

“This also goes for men who, short of putting a tracker on their babes, monitor them like they are on Parole.

“You may be more beautiful, richer and sexier… but understanding your spouse’s career is KEY”.

Police parade Chibok girls’ abductors in Borno

On Wednesday, the Police in Borno paraded 22 suspected Boko Haram terrorists, including eight men said to be responsible for the 2014 abduction of over 200 girls at Government Girls’ Secondary School, Chibok.

The suspects, were paraded by the state Police Commissioner, Damian Chukwu who revealed they were apprehended at different locations in Borno and Yobe States.

Chukwu said the police recovered 11 AK47 rifles and other weapons from the suspects, adding that they confessed to over 50 suicide bombings within Borno and Adamawa States, invasion of Bama, Gwoza and several other attacks.

He also said the suspects admitted to killing thousands of innocent citizens including security agents in the North East.

The police commissioner said:

“Suspects narrated various roles each of them played. Amongst them are the commanders and coordinators of suicide bombings in Borno State, coordinator and members of the Chibok School Girls kidnapping, ambushes of security agents, logistics suppliers and receivers of gold, international currencies and cows, among others.

“Mayinta Modu, 23, alias Abor, confessed to being one of the Boko Haram commanders, who coordinated and led the kidnapping of the Chibok School girls in 2014 and several attacks on Bama, Gwoza and Mubi towns in Borno and Adamawa States.”

Those allegedly responsible for the Chibok girls’ abduction and several murderous attacks were identified as Commander, Mayinta Modu (23), Adam Mohammed (20), Gujja Jidda (21), Mamman Wadi (25), Alhaji Modu Jidda (29), Ajiri Bulama Dungus (22), Mohammed Abba (20) and Fannami Mustapha (22).

“You can’t eat your cake and have it” – Police PRO, Dolapo Badmus cautions Ruggedman

After Ruggedman called out Yomi Shogunle, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, claiming that he shared a fake story about him, Police PRO, Dolapo Badmus has written to him.

Yomi Shogunle had shared a photo of Ruggedman with a Federal SARS officer and alleged that Ruggedman, who has been very vocal in his call to end SARS, has now turned around to join those calling for SARS to be reformed rather than to be scrapped.

Calling the ACP out, Ruggedman was incensed when he saw the photo being used to pass the wrong message, so he fired back and reiterated that he is all for #EndSARS. ICYMI

Reacting to his action after he tagged her in his call out post, PPRO, Dolapo wrote to him that he shouldn’t be partial in his judgement and rather chose a side.

She wrote,

I came across this and I wasn’t surprised! Firstly I didn’t expect @ruggedybaba to tag me having taken into cognisance the fact that in a long while he has stopped tagging me in anything police matter!
However for the fact that my attention has been drawn to this matter by way of tagging…… I need to let @ruggedybaba know that with your hobnobbing with police and seeking attention with officers and men of the police force and making it public by way of postins on social media will send a signal that you have converted from #endsars to #reformsars because it’s expected you might have been made to understand all efforts been put in place by the leadership of the force to reformsars (and of course you have demonstrated that by showing some of the efforts unknowingly to you… example is the branding of the uniform for the department) For you to still come out to say “I stand with #endsars until it is reformed” somehow looks contradictory and confusing! You will remember vividly that your first encounter with police was when your younger brother was arrested?! You remember I received your call through @9iceofficial Who informed me about the incident and I quickly placed a call across to you and not only was your brother released, all other men randomly picked with him were also released on my instruction to the DPO! since then we both agreed we are going to work and we have been working together to curb their excesses until you decided to #endsars (we both know why) but anyway no one eats his cake and have it!!! If what you stand for is #endsars let’s know and if it’s #reformsars let’s know……going forth and back will confuse anyone…. stakeholders on #endsars are engaging the police to ensure proper things are been done without too much of showing it off on social media!! My advice to you is that if really your police engagement is not for personal aggrandizement, take it off social media or else it might be misconstrued … No one should get this twister @ruggedybaba and I remain partners in progress, he’s always welcome to partner with us to ensure we get the bad eggs out of the force.

Nollywood Actor, Kenneth Okonkwo, has declared his intentions to run for the position of Enugu State Governor.

The ‘Living In Bondage’ star who declared his ambition some weeks back under the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Enugu with the immediate past governor of the state, Sullivan Chime, in attendance, has now shared his poster.

“Without God I can do nothing but with Him I can do all things because He strengthens me. Join the wining team. By the grace of God, I am the next Governor of Enugu State.”

Kenneth Okonkwo is a famous Nollywood actor, director, producer, television personality, entrepreneur, investor, politician and a philanthropist.

He was born on 6th November, 1965 in Nsukka, Enugu State in the south eastern part of Nigeria.

He is currently 52 years old. Kenneth Okonkwo completed his primary and secondary school education in Lagos State in the south western part of Nigeria and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate.

After completing his secondary school education, Kenneth Okonkwo proceeded to University of Nigeria, Nsukka in Enugu State, Nigeria and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.

He later went further to obtain a Masters Degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
