One of the two students of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo who got hospitalized after having an accident while being chased by SARS Operatives has passed on.
According to reports, Seun Ogunmola and Deborah Iyanuoluwa, both Accounting students, were assumed to be fraudsters, hence the chase. Ogunmola, however, lost control of the car and crashed it.
After the accident, the officers abandoned them and fled. However, they were later rescued by some bystanders and rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo. .
Seun reportedly died around 10am, yesterday, after a surgery. Following his death, some students trooped out in protest against SARS and barricaded the highway leading to the institution.
A pregnant woman has been jailed for assaulting her husband’s mistress.
It was gathered that the woman who is five months pregnant was convicted and jailed for two years after hitting her husband’s side chic with sandals in Ghana.
According to a Ghanaian journalist identified as Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, the woman’s husband brought his girlfriend to their house and allegedly gave her his wife’s cloth to put on.
The scorned wife who was shocked by that act – confronted the lady and attacked her with a sandals.

“I encountered this beautiful young lady at the Nsawam Female Prison last week. She has been convicted for 2 years with a 5 months old pregnancy, and came into the prison with her one and a half year old son. Her offence? She tells me her “husband” brought in his girlfriend into the house and gave the lady her dress to wear.
“She couldn’t believe what was unfolding in her eyes and could not contain the humiliation. She confronted the lady and a fight ensued.
“In the course of the struggle, she hit the lady with a sandals she laid hands on and was jailed for assault. Since coming to prison, this so-called husband has never visited her.
“My appeal is for some of our judges to fully consider the overall context of events before handing down sentences. I have a feeling they are sometimes misled by the police?
“For how long will the Alternative Sentencing Bill which could possibly prescribe community sentences in such cases, continue to gather dust in Parliament?
“Shouldn’t pregnant women be given suspended sentences instead? I simply don’t understand why the Criminal Offences Act 1960 which obviously needs a review after so many years of usage continue to dictate the pace. We are all not safe!
“She has a fine of 1400 Ghs to pay and another 2000 for the injuries caused to her attacker, making it 3400 Ghs in all to secure her release.

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed met with the Nigerian Ambassador to the US, Sylvanus Nsofor in Washington over the weekend.
He told Nigerians living abroad to be careful of the news they read about Nigeria online as 80% of them are fake.
Backing his claims with farmers/herders clashes, Lai Mohammed said news platforms reported that the two Catholic priests killed in Benue in April were killed by herdsmen but investigations revealed that they were killed by armed militia.
“Fake news and misinformation when mixed with hate speech threaten the peace, unity, security and corporate existence of Nigerians.
“Many people in the diaspora depend a lot on Social media for news about Nigeria.
“However, 80 percent of what you read on social media is fake. Please, we implore you to visit our website fgnnformation.iapp where you can find information that is genuine about Nigeria.
“When you go by social media, the impression you get is as if Nigeria is at war and as if Muslims are killing Christians and about ethnic war.
“However, those disgruntled politicians have now tried to factor ethnicity and religion into the situation that we have in the country.
“Our challenges have nothing to do with religion or ethnicity” he said.
The Minister had before now told Nigerians in Diaspora, that with President Muhammadu Buhari piloting the affairs of Nigeria, the country is in very safe and competent hands, hence there is no cause for alarm.
The minister said this at a town hall meeting with the staff of the Nigerian Embassy in Madrid, Spain and a cross section of Nigerians living in the European countries.
In a statement by the minister’s media aide, Segun Adeyemi, Mohammed said contrary to the fake news being peddled on the Social Media, Nigeria is making steady progress, especially in revamping the economy, tackling insecurity and fighting corruption – the three cardinal programmes of the Buhari Administration.
Yesterday at the Emotan Hall of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo state, there was mild drama following the discovery of some assaulted charms in a girl’s bag.
It was gathered that the student, who had been complaining about her missing money, wrote the names of her roommates in a sheet of paper, collected their hair and tied everything up with a thread.
The discovery was made by a roommate who was going through the suspect’s bag. The aggrieved student was said to be out of the hostel when her charms were discovered.
A video is currently making rounds on social media that shows a Lebanese man assaulting a Nigerian man in Novare Mall, Lekki, Lagos.
An eyewitness identified as @madejibo on Twitter who recounted the encounter, said the Lebanese man also attacked him when he brought out his phone to record the incident.

“The staff that was been beaten by the Lebanese was cajoled to say that the Lebanese man was only playing with him.
“Under so much duress by the police I was told to write a statement which was dictated to me. For the fear of my safety, I complied.
“The Lebanese man also claimed that I cut his wrist watch strap, but in the video, he had no wristwatch on while he was beating the staff.
“The police said for taking the video I had done something criminal according to the law of the land. I was left to go around 1230am.
“On my way to my car the Lebanese man tried to offer me money but I refused. After driving to safety by a stroke of thought, I recovered the video and posted it on Instagram.
“I was thoroughly harassed in Novare Mall, a place I come to practically everyday to shop.

A woman, identified as Mrs. Doris Orugboh, a trader who sells drinks in Sapele, Delta State collapsed and died during a Church Service in Delta.
It was revealed that the deceased left her house yesterday morning for church service along with her children.
However, just as the church service was about to begin, the woman from Ughelli who was said to be hale and hearty, collapsed right there in the church.
According to journalist Sapele Oghenek, the woman was rushed to the hospital but she had already passed away.
Her corpse was later deposited at a mortuary. Her husband was said to not have been in town when the incident happened.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it has remitted another N7.8 billion to the federal government.
The board’s Head, Media and Information, Fabian Benjamin, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos.
According to him, the board has planned to remit the amount as surplus to the federal government as was done in 2017.
Benjamin said that the amount was the surplus generated from the conduct of the board’s 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
“However, government in its magnanimity, graciously directed that we remit about N5.6 billion and use the balance for restructuring of the board’s headquarters to meet up with its international status.
We, therefore, want to appreciate the governing board of JAMB led by Dr Emmanuel Ndukwe for the tremendous support in ensuring that the current administration’s vision of transparency and accountability as fully embraced by JAMB is sustained.
The board, though not a revenue generating agency, will continue to be judicious with resources at its disposal,” he said. Benjamin said that cumulatively and technically, the board had remitted a total of N15.6 billion in less than two years.

Singer, Harrison Okiri, aka Harrysong, has finally cleared the air on why he recorded another version of his hit song, Selense, with Iyanya and Dice Ailes, and stopped the promotion of the original version which featured Kizz Daniel and Reekado Banks.
Contrary to certain reports, Harrysong said he didn’t take offence with Kizz Daniel’s claim that he was the biggest artiste in the country. According to the Reggae Blues singer, he was upset because Kizz Daniel refused to work on any song with Reekado Banks.
Speaking through his manager, Desmond Ike, Harrysong said ;
“It wasn’t about what Kizz Daniel said on the song; there is nothing out of place about it. When you do something with people and they don’t make it easy for you, you have to look for a way to sort yourself out. Harrysong originally did the song with Reekado Banks and Kizz Daniel but at a point, Daniel said he didn’t want to star in the video because Reekado would be in it. He said he didn’t want to have anything to do with Reekado. We tried to sort out the issue between both of them so that we could shoot the video but Daniel refused vehemently; he didn’t want any reconciliation. Because of that, we decided to do another version of the song with Iyanya and Dice Ailes. Kizz Daniel was just being arrogant about the whole thing and behaving like he is a demigod.”
Maintaining that Harrysong’s camp was unaware of the source of the bad blood between Reekado and Kizz, Desmond stated, “We don’t really know the issue between them but it must be a long-standing feud. He said he didn’t want to be on any song that Reekado was featured on. He refused all our entreaties.”
On whether Kizz Daniel wasn’t aware that Reekado Banks was featured on the song when he recorded his verse, Ike said, ; “They recorded their verses separately. The moment he realised that Banks was on the song was when he started saying he didn’t want to be a part of it anymore. We initially thought it was something we could resolve amicably as friends in the industry but Daniel insisted that he didn’t want to be part of it. He frustrated every move to reconcile them. Kizz Daniel even made the song to be pulled from iTunes, claiming that he did not give his consent for his voice to be used; that was how far he went. We had to choice but to look for a way out.”
Rapper and new mother, Cardi B is reportedly planning on “taking” the criminal charges for her husband Offset following his arrest for Gun and Drug possession in Atlanta.
The Migos rapper was arrested on Friday afternoon July 20th on gun and drug charges after he and his bodyguard were pulled over outside of Atlanta.
Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, and his bodyguard, Senay Gezahgn, were pulled over in Jonesboro, Georgia, for the illegal lane change when Clayton County police searched his 2014 Porsche 911 Carrera and found three guns and less than one ounce of marijuana and over $107,000 in cash, according to Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB.
The 26-year-old who is already on probation for a 2015 arrest on drugs and weapons charges, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a weapon during a crime. He also faces misdemeanor charges for marijuana possession and making an improper lane change.
But thanks to his wife, Cardi B who is now planning on coming forward to take the criminal charges in other for him not to spend some years in jail.
An insider close to Migos exclusively told MTO that Cardi B is planning on telling authorities that the gun and the Porsche Offset was driving in are hers.
The insider explained, “She’s going to tell police that [Offset] didn’t know that the gun was inside or the weed.”
As explained, Cardi is not a convicted felon and won’t be in any trouble for having a gun in her car. And if Offset didn’t know it was there, then he wouldn’t be in trouble either.
And as for the weed, it’s been decriminalized in Atlanta. If Cardi admits being the owner of the weed, she’s only likely to get a ticket. But if Offset admits to owning the gun and the weed since he’s on probation, he could be sent to prison for 5-years.
The Apapa LG Chapter Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Hon. Borishade Adeniyi, has been shot dead
The incident took place on Saturday, July 21, during Lagos State PDP Visitation meeting at Igbosuku village, Eti-Osa LGA, attended by Lagos State and Local Government PDP Chairmen.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Chike Oti, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said fracas broke out between contending factions of the party towards the end of the meeting.
“One faction was for the State Chairman, Hon. Moshood Adegoke Sabadon and the other for the Eti-Osa LG Chapter Chairman, Engr Kehinde Fasasi,” he said
“In the melee, one Hon. Borishade Adeniyi, the Apapa LG PDP Chapter Chairman, recognised also as the Doyen of PDP LG Chapter Chairmen in Lagos State, was allegedly shot and injured on the legHe was rushed to First Consultant Hospital, Obalende, Lagos, where he was treated but eventually died. Corpse of the deceased is deposited in the hospital mortuary. Two other persons allegedly injured during the clash, are also receiving treatment in a hospital in Ajah”
In a swift reaction, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Imohimi Edgal, directed the Area Commander in-charge of Area ‘J’ Elemoro, to ensure the arrests of all those with hands in the crime.
Following the directive, five of the principal suspects had been arrested. They are:
1. Engr Kehinde Fasasi, chapter chairman, Eti-Osa LG,
2. Hon. Rotimi Kujore, PDP chapter chairman, Lagos Island LG
3. Alhaji Fatai Adele, PDP chapter chairman, Mushin LG,
4. Mr. Ismail Abiola, PDP chapter chairman, Amuwo Odofin LG and
5. Dr. Amos Alabi Fawole, PDP chapter chairman, Surulere LG. ..
The five suspects have been transferred to SCIID, Panti, for further investigation.
The CP is completely disappointed with PDP Leadership in the state for their penchant for violence. It will be recalled that on the 12/07/2018, two male thugs, Wale Oye, 37 and Ganiyu Ajiboluwa, 47, were arrested at Festac Extention by Apple Junction, Amuwo Odofin with two pump action rifles given to them by their hirer, one Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Lagos State House of Assembly, to escort him to a political rally.
Meanwhile, Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu is warned to report at the Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, on Monday, at 0900hrs for the continuation of his case. He is reminded that he is only on administrative bail and not acquittal.
The CP warns that no political party will be allowed to truncate the peace in the state. He therefore calls on all political parties to disarm their members as nobody or group would be allowed to threaten anybody with firearms.

A Final year student of Microbiology in Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has passed away while playing basketball few hours to his last paper.
The deceased, identified as Francis slumped during a basketball competition.
According to multiple online reports, he was meant to write his last last paper tomorrow July 23rd, and was rushed to the school’s clinic when the incident happened.
However, there was no doctor on ground or oxygen to help stabilize him.

He was later rushed to another hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

You seem to have a glamourous lifestyle given your dress sense and collection of automobiles…
Anyway, I would say that my dress sense and collections of cars is a passion. I wear things that look nice on me and I try to look smart. Different people have different passion. For some, homosexualism is their passion and they can spend any amount of money on it. For some, diamond is their passion and they can spend any amount of money on it. If you argue with me, you can ask Diezani.
For some, blood is their passion, occultism, and they can spend any amount of money to get blood. For some, it’s bikes and for some, it’s cocaine. So, if my passion is automobiles, I should not be castigated for it. I have no regrets. For me it’s a passion and looking good for me it’s a hobby.
Are you aware that people talk about your living style?
I don’t feel perturbed at all and it doesn’t get to me at all because I know that whatever I’m driving and whatever I’m wearing are not products of corruption. The little God has provided for me is not ill-gotten and I should be able to spend my money the way I feel without forgetting that I need to take care of the needy and poor and that I’m doing graciously.
What designers do you patronise?
I patronise different designers depending on what it is. For clothing, I have designers that I appreciate. Shoes, I have designers that I appreciate. Belts, I have designers that I appreciate. Watches, I have different designers that I patronise even slippers. So, it depends on what kind of fashion gadget or ornament I’m wearing.
Specifically, what designer wristwatch and belt do you patronise?
For watches, I have different types of designers. Out of all my brands, I really love Franck Muller, I love Patek, Felipe, I love Rolex watches and I also appreciate watches like Jaypad. For my belt, most of my belts are Ferragamo and Versace belts.
What kind of music do you listen to?
I listen to all kinds of music but I love traditional music because it teaches more sense and lessons. More importantly, I listen to gospel music.
Why do you subscribe to your type of fashion?
Because it’s more original to look yourself. It’s more original for you to wear what your think makes you happy than to copy someone. So, Dino is not a photocopy. I’m original and I initiate my own style.
Where is your favourite tourist destination in Nigeria?
I enjoyed Jos before it became volatile. I love the climate, I love the weather, I love the serenity of the town, and I love the mountainous nature of the communities around Jos. I also enjoy the Obudu Cattle Ranch. I enjoy the Yankari Game Reserve in Bauchi.
I have visited Olumo Rock more than three or four times. So, this country is blessed with a lot of tourist attraction places of historical relevance. Gidan Makama in Kano is another good place I visit often.
What is your relationship with the entertainment industry in Nigeria?
I appreciate Nigerian artistes in Nollywood, music industry and comedy. Nigerian artistes are the best in the world. I appreciate them, I promote them where I can, I associate with them, I encourage them and I would say I respect them.
What do you eat?
Initially, some years ago I do not pay particular attention to what I eat but when I crossed 40, I started regulating my meals. Now, I’m on special diet not because I’m sick but because I need to be healthy. So, I eat healthy things, I take more greens now, I take more of vegetables. In fact, I do little or no starch. Again, I stopped taking red meat, I do more of sea foods and fish. I’m quite particular now about my meals. It’s a little portion. I’m trying to work on my three packs now to become six packs.
Favourite colours?
White, blue, and red in that order.
Tell us about your family sir?
My family is great, my family is wonderful. I love my kids to the moon. My kids are my friends. I have a wonderful family, a God-fearing family. And again, I’m successfully single.
How do you relax?
I read books, I do a lot of exercise, I go to the gym. When time permits, I watch movies and I write a lot. I love to travel, I love to spend time on the mountain, I love to spend time by waterside, I listen to music and I play soccer.
