Popular video vixen & model Agnes Masogange is dead

Popular video vixen

The Tanzanian Entertainment Industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of one of their popular video vixen and socialite, Agnes Masogange.

According to Tanzania’s EATV, Masogange succumbed to pneumonia and low blood pressure at 4pm on Friday, April 20 at Mama Ngoma Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She was age 28.

Confirming news about Ms Masogange’s death, Dr. Kihama Ngoma said the video vixen had been admitted to the health facility for four days.

Tanzania’s Global Publishers reports that hundreds of Dar es Salaam residents made their way to Mama Ngoma Hospital, when news about Ms Masogange’s death broke Friday evening.

Her body has been moved to Muhimbili National Hospital, comedian Steve Nyerere says.

Agnes Masogange featured in, among others, Tanzanian musician Belle 9’s song called ‘Masogange’.

Tramadol is killing my friend – Man cries for help

Tramadol

Tramadol

A Nigerian man has taken to social media to narrate how his friend has gotten addicted to the banned drug Tramadol.

According to him, he is already losing concentration and his aggressiveness is increasing by the day.

The man also mentioned that the addiction started while they were in school as the friend claimed the drug helped him in assimilating whatever he read then

Read his story below:

Let me go straight to the point I’ve got this friend of mine who stays in the same estate her with me in ibeju-lekki area this young man is in his late twenties and also a graduate, this his addiction started way back when we were still undergraduate.

“He used to use this particular drug just because of reading sake Co’s he once told me his brain it’s always at it’s peak whenever his on this drug and he tends to assimilate anything he reads.

“Now he’s outta school though he got side hustle put guys my guy is outta hand the rate at which he takes this drugs now is alarming the reason I’m saying this is simply on the fact that I was with him yesterday evening and I needed him to enter d number of a mechanic he recommended for me to fix ma car,… his hand was really shaking badly that I noticed he had to quickly adjust by using the other hand to hold on to the phone.”

“I tried engaging him into a man on man conversation but he reluctantly snapped out! so when we drove to his apartment.

“I noticed just when his was about to take a leak just outta curiosity I entered his room and saw lots of sachets of these particular drugs I mean lots of it, so I confronted him and there he goes telling me he can’t go a day without taking nothing less than 800-1000mg I didn’t know when I said Jesus, and he is always aggressive.

“I’m just feeling very concerned the thing is that he doesn’t listen to me on matters like this, and he’s fiance is a nurse and she’s also not aware of his addiction.

“His mother too isn’t aware although both his mum and girl are close to me I’m thinking of bringing them into talking to him especially his fiance Co’s I know he loves and respects her and would most likely listen to her, but at the same time I don’t want to be seeing as a snitch and end up spoiling our relationship he’ll never tell me anything and most likely won’t trust me!

“How Do I bring them to know about this without making it all pointing to me, note I’m the only one he opened up to.. even he’s fiance as close as she is she has no idle about his addiction and seriously assuming he’s only taking it occasionally.

“I won’t mind or maybe taking it on a low quantity I’ll just be about fine but a thousand mills daily hahba he needs help!”

Asaba films and the ones in the cinema are not so different – Maureen Solomon

Asaba films

Asaba films

Nollywood actress Maureen Solomon, has been MIA from the movie industry for 7-years now.

In a new interview with Inside Nollywood, she opened up about her absence and her take on the films produced these days.

According to Maureen, Asaba produced films are not different from the ones shown in the cinemas.

Read her interview below:

It seems marriage has changed you. You look more beautiful, what is the secret?

Thank you dear. First of all, it is God that has made me beautiful. I know and I am sure that it’s Him. Secondly, I don’t go out much. So, it’s peace of mind, nothing much and no secret really.

You’re one of the actresses that people loved to watch in those days. Your fans would like to know why you have been off the screen for so long?

It’s not so much silence because I want it to be so, but the fact that I am focused more on the family front, which I feel is more important.

For all these years, I am grateful for the time that I have spent with my family, and continue to spend.

I have devoted my time to my children for some time now. So, right now, I am coming back to work. My absence all these years has been because of my family.

There is this rumour that your husband stopped you from acting. Is there any atom of truth in that?

As a matter of fact, I got married in 2005 and I acted till 2011. The last time I did a movie was in 2011 and my husband never stopped me.

So, I wonder why he would stop me in the middle of the way. My husband actually encourages my work, even in my going back now by the grace of God.

It is still him that is pushing me and he will always spur me to do greater things, not just the normal thing we know of.

So, he never stopped me, I stopped myself because I needed to dedicate more time to my children.

My last house girl left as at the time I decided to stay home and I decided not to get another one. I practically had to become the house girl.

The last time you featured in a movie was 2011. What movie was that?

Yes, I did two movies in 2011. One was Uche Elendu’s movie. I co-produced her movie, ‘In Too Deep’.

I think that was the last major film I did. The other one, I remember I travelled to Oba to shoot it. I can’t even remember the title. Those were the last movies I did before I stopped.

That’s seven years of silence. Don’t you think it’s too long?

It’s not too long. Funny enough, to some people, it is. When I look back to when I started in the industry till now, it seems like it was yesterday. Seven years for me is not a long time.

What would you say has changed in the industry between when you left and now?

Honestly speaking, some people might go crazy because of what I am trying to say.

The only difference that I can see is the fact that, we can now go to the cinema. Our movies are now in the cinema, but as far as I am concerned, most of the storylines are still the same.

It hasn’t changed which I would love so much for it to.

Few weeks ago, Rita Dominic made a comment that Nollywood producers rush to the cinemas to show low quality movies, and some producers went for her head. Do you agree with her opinion?

That was why I said a lot of people would not like what I am going to say.

If I should say my mind, a lot of people are going to go crazy. Nothing has changed in the industry; there is nothing different from the movies you watch in the cinema and the movies that they produce in Asaba.

For me, it is just the better and quality tools being used.

What’s the way forward for quality movies?

My husband is my biggest critic. So, I will say that it is either the creative people are not being given enough opportunity or the leadership of Nollywood somehow lacks creativity.

We need originality and creativity and I know that in Nigeria, we have abundance of such people, but either that they don’t have the opportunities.

Apart from creativity, we still need people in the area of sponsorship, and people that will spur us to move forward. I know very well that we have a lot of creative people and a lot of original ideas but we lack the opportunity and help to get them out.

Talking about creativity, we have new crops of people in the industry now. Would you say that producers prefer to use these new crops of actors?

I can’t really say but I know that most of these new actors are good.

But there are still some of them that need a lot of training. I have heard in some places that the old actors need to come back, as they don’t understand the new ones.

I don’t know if that is a compliment or something else, I have heard people say that to me a lot. We don’t have places where new actors can actually go and train.

And on the issue of them being preferred by the producers, I can’t really say, but I know it has always been a norm in the industry for producers to go for the person that the face will sell market more. So, if they think that the new faces sell market more, maybe that is why, but I know to a large extent that, producers don’t call people because they are very good.

Would you also attribute this to the fees they pay to the new ones compared to the old ones?

To be honest, I think there are some old ones that won’t mind whatever fees they are paying to the new ones.

I know a whole lot of people would say there are no jobs, like the old ones will say there are no jobs coming their way. So, I don’t think it’s the fees but the faces that sell movies.

There is this rumour that people in the industry use devilish power or what they call ‘juju’ on others. Is that true?

Are you kidding me? I have no idea. Like you heard, I have also heard but my own prayer is that I don’t come across anybody that does that.

But I wonder why they would have to do that, the industry is so large, it can contain everybody. So, why would they need those fetish and devilish things? Is it for more work? You can’t even be on three different locations at a time.

How did you come into the industry in the first place?

I have always wanted to act. In my nursery school days, the major programme I took part was dancing.

Then from my primary to secondary school, there was no drama that I didn’t partake. My mom has always known that to be part of me.

So, when I watched movies, I would be like, ‘mummy I want to act’ and she would always laugh. My mom was working with the Union Bank then and she always says that Pete Edochie was one of their customers.

So, in my mind, I would say ‘will this woman ever introduce me to him?’ But I never knew how to tell her. Then, there was this day that everybody in my house traveled apart from my elder sister.

I came back and she wasn’t at home, but someone told me where she went. I went there to collect the house key but when I got there, they were having an audition.

They were asking some people to act this way and others that way. The person that was directing was Lancelot Odua Imasuen. And he said, ‘you this way’. I forgot the key that I went to collect and joined the queue.

The next day, my sister came home and said that my name came out. And that was it; that was how I did my first movie, ‘Alternative’.

From there, I continued. I started in the industry early enough, I got into the industry when I was 17 going on 18 and in December 2005, I got married.

How much were you paid for that movie?

N2,000 and I played six scenes, and it was a big deal for me. It was my second time to earn money.

Before that time, I had worked as a receptionist somewhere; the manger chased me to my house, I think he wanted to woo me, and after that one month, I collected my N4,500 salary and ran away.

What’s the worst thing you have ever heard about yourself?

The only thing that I heard that brought me to tears was shortly after my first movie.

It was a story in a newspaper. I can’t remember the exact title, something like ‘Maureen Solomon on the rumpus side’, that was when I was dating one of the actors.

They said that a guy had a fight with a director over me. But there was no fight honestly. It was when we were doing ‘Wide Revenge’, where I had my first lead role.

I was supposed to play the younger version of someone and my boyfriend at that time said no.

It created small rancour but it wasn’t like a fight but the paper turned the story upside down. That was when my mom sat me down and advised me to use cuticle to cover my ears if I love my job.

To make a comeback, it has become a trend for actors to produce their own movies. What are you working on right now?

It’s actually not a bad idea. I am actually tilting towards that side. I have a lot of scripts but I am actually waiting for the right moment.

As you can see, movie is not the only thing I do now, I have delved into other things as well.

On acting, if I see a good script I will definitely take it. Funny enough, all these while that I have been at home, scripts came once in a while but it’s not what I wanted to do as a comeback.

Come on, I have been out of the screen for a while, I mean if I am coming back, it should be something tight, even if it’s not my own movie, it should be something tight.

Talking about my own movie, definitely, but one place I am really looking at is directing.

It has always been my passion but for some reasons, I ended up in front of the camera. Now, I think I am more balanced to chase that dream. I am not saying that I am not going to act but will do more of producing and directing.

What would you like to be remembered for in the industry?

I have seen a lot in the industry, most of the stories that we play for people to watch are actually our own lifestyles.

I wanted to post something on Facebook the other day but I quickly wiped it off, because I know people would come for my head.

I was watching a movie the other day and it dawned on me that we do these dramas everyday but we don’t learn from them. We do movies about broken homes but we don’t learn from them, it is always our homes that are breaking.

It doesn’t make sense. We tell the stories but we don’t learn from them. So, I believe and I am praying to God that my coming back to the industry is to change lives and not just looking for the money.

If it is for the fame, I don’t think I can get more famous than I am now, I don’t know how famous I am anyway.

My coming back to the industry is strictly to change lives, not just the people that are watching but also the people that I am working with. That is what I am hoping for because a whole lot of times, I don’t know if we are blind, we do things but we don’t look at ourselves.

However, the script interpreter revealed that while growing up, her big boobs made her feel abnormal amongst her peers. “It really did. But after a while, I got to realise it’s actually a blessing and not abnormality. It is a blessing to me now (smiles).”

Speaking further, Idika stated that she has a very forgiving and romantic personality. “I’m a very romantic person. I can’t attest for myself, but I’m very sure I’ve got some irresistible charms.

I just do the best within my capability to take care of my man. But if I catch him cheating on me, I’ll walk out, go somewhere quiet and think about my next move, maybe over a drink.

However, if later he’s remorseful, of course I’ll take him back. That he cheated doesn’t really mean he doesn’t love me enough, but if cheating becomes his lifestyle, I’m so taking off,” she assured.

Ibinabo Fiberesima shares untold story of the accident that killed Dr. Giwa Suraj

Ibinabo Fiberesima shares untold

Ibinabo Fiberesima shares untold story

Ibinabo Fiberesima has indicated her intention to contest in Rivers State Local Government elections.

However, some Nigerians have begun to challenge her, questioning her role in a 2006 road crash in which a medical doctor, Suraj Giwa was killed.

The former beauty queen has been in and out of prison following that ugly incident.

The last was in 2016, when the matter returned to court again after she was slammed with a 5-years jail term.

However, two years after she regained her freedom, the former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria,AGN, has taken time out to recount her tales of woes.

In an interview she granted to seasoned journalist, Azuka Jebose, which he posted on his Facebook page, Ibinabo apologized to Nigerians for whatever wrong she has done.

She also pleaded with the Suraji family to forgive her for causing them unforgettable pain.

She said:

“I have had periods of feeling miserable in the last 12 years as a result of this accident. I need to find peace. I seek forgiveness. I am sorry.

“I need to tell my story. I stayed silent for so long and watched as my life, character and person were being ruined in published reports, including social media.

“This is my story, told for the first time on social media platform.

“My heart has never stopped aching. the life of someone. I am forever in mourning because of this.

“Two families’ lives have been changed forever with this unfortunate fatal accident.

“It was an accident. Dr. Suraj Giwa didn’t have to die. I wished I could bring him back.

“I am sorry for the pains caused. I have also been maligned and disparaged in the media:

“I am a monster. I am a killer and a murderer, I am a drunk… No. Azuka. I am none of these.

I am just another human being that was in a deadly accident and the accident caused the death of Dr. Suraj Giwa.

“It’s been 12 years of heartache, pain and depression for me. My eyes are rivers of tears. Some days I feel like killing myself.

“Life has no meaning to me. I think about Dr. Giwa every day. I pray for his soul and I pray and seek forgiveness from his family for the pain and agony. I am very sorry.

“It didn’t have to happen. I wished I knew it would happen that unfortunate day, I would not have traveled that road. I was not drunk that day.

“Azuka, I was driving along Lekki road, returning home after picking up a friend’s daughter from a church Fellowship.

“Suddenly, a red car overtook the SUV in front of me. The SUV was travelling slowly, so I shifted to its front, too.

The red vehicle was being driven by a young man and had his friends with him…I drove past the red car.

“I think that might have angered the young chap because he swiftly sped from behind, drove past me and made a sudden stop in my front.

I tried to avoid hitting those boys in the red car. I swerved and lost control in that moment, the impact dived my vehicle into inbound lane.. Dr. Giwa was inbound, thus he drove into my car and both cars collided. I collapsed and passed out..

“Three days later, I woke up in a hospital bed to learn what had happened.

“I was weak, sore and in pains. I could not move my legs. I had been sedated for three days. Doctors said they had to sedate me to numb my pain.

“Meanwhile, the police had been informed that I was in that hospital.

“The Lagos State Police came to the hospital to take my statement of what happened. After I gave them my statement, I was arrested at the hospital and charged to court.

“At my court appearance for hearing, the judge noticed how sick, weak, incoherent an disoriented I was: he also saw my injuries.

“He ordered that I should be sent back to the hospital for further treatment until I was well enough to stand trial. I could not walk then.

“Later at the hospital, I woke up from coma and to reality. I was afraid and shocked.

“I could not believe I was involved in an accident that had taken a life. I was like: Wow!..Someone died in that accident.

“Oh my God!. I didn’t know the family. While I was in the hospital my family contacted the family of Late Dr. Giwa who died in the accident.

“My family was there for the funeral and did everything during the mourning season. I was afraid.

“But I met them in court and tried to approach them. I understood the anger and pain I had caused them, so I accepted their anger toward me….his sister was really angry at me…

“I wanted to talk to her… it was hard for me to get close to her… I understood all these: the pain and distress they felt as a result of the accident.

“I felt their pain. I wanted to tell them how sorry and remorseful I was… It was an accident. I did not intend to wake up that morning, went out and had a fatal collision.

“Weeks later, I was arraigned. I attended all my court appearances.

“During the process I visited the family and attempted several times to make peace.

“I never ignored them. I am always sorry. I know the pain is tough, so I understood their anger but I kept begging. I am sorry.

“I had gone to so many good people and friends to assist me in pleading for forgiveness from the family. One of such friends is late Iyalode of Lagos.

“She assisted me in begging the Giwa family: when I became well and able to walk, she took me to The former Imam of Lagos and the incumbent Oba of Lagos: these traditional and religious leaders begged on my behalf, pleading with the family for forgiveness and showed how sorry and remorseful I was that the accident happened.

“I never ran away from the scene of the accident. I was unconscious.

“How could an unconscious accident victim remove plate license and registration papers from the vehicle as reported in the media?

“Why would I do a thing like that? How could I have done a thing like that?

“These were all lies manufactured and circulated in the media to tarnish me.

“Days after the wreck, I woke up in a hospital. I was never drunk as being speculated and alleged. I was never charged for drunk driving. I was charged for reckless and dangerous driving.

“I am forever very sorry this accident happened. I never planned for it. I plead with the family.

“I reached out to the GO of the church where the late doctor’s wife worships to beg him to join me plead with her.

“He was on a crusade in Benue and I went and met with him. I am very sorry it happened. I am not arrogant or careless.

“I have just been wrongly represented and maligned in the media. The story has several versions that make me a heartless beautiful beast and monster.

“I have not said much because the family is bereaved. It hurts. I need to respect their sorrows and what they are going through:trying to explain myself,

“I thought, would sound arrogant. So I kept quiet. I have been sorry from the moment I learnt the accident took a dear life.

“Life has never been the same for both families. I am sorry. Losing Dr Giwa altered our lives and I regret that. It’s devastating.

“As the case was progressing, I began to read so many false stories about me being arrogant, being an alcoholic and drove under the influence on that day; that I refused to ask the family to forgive me…”

“Wow…I was stunned. How are all these possible?. So I approached Giwa’s family to find out the source of all these stories that do not make sense.

“The family said my Nollywood colleagues told them all kinds of things and lies about me.

“The lies included: that I owned a night club and so I must have been returning from my night club, drunk.

“I owned a night club years before the accident. They said someone that sells alcohol is an alcoholic. I am being punished with false statements saturating the media. I am broken…

Soon, I was stopped from going to visit Giwa’s Mother…. The only person that always met with me was Barrister Giwa , he is the eldest in the family…who would tell me “Ibinabo you were at the wrong place at the wrong time… things happen…” What do I do?…

“Meantime, I became pregnant and my due date was approaching.

“At that point, I was sentenced to fine because the judge said I had shown remorse.

“I didn’t even have any money in court that day. A woman I didn’t know paid for me. So I left for UK to go and have my baby.

“After the birth of my child, I returned to continue seeking peace and forgiveness with the family. My lawyer informed me of another court appearance. I came back to start all over again….

“I didn’t know what was happening. I couldn’t look at myself anymore…why would this case reopen?. What have I done?..

In the middle of this craziness, false statements began to spread and track, again: that I was throwing parties and celebrating…

“How could I be doing that?. I wasn’t even in Nigeria…I just returned then from child birthing.

“How could I have been throwing parties when I was pregnant?. Parties for what celebration?..

“I couldn’t do all these things…… somebody lost his life, why should I party?

“But I kept quiet, secretly begging the family, seeking forgiveness. I kept begging… I feel their pain.

“I was involved in an accident: a wonderful son, father and husband lost his Life: I kept begging.. I dint know what else to do….

“Giwa’s family said that somebody told them I was drunk at my club and must have been coming from there, that day. Are you serious?.

“My club was closed eight years before the accident happened…

“There was no alcohol involved. I wasn’t drunk on the day of the accident.

“These silly rumors manifested in the mainstream and social media: the rumors continue to spread that I was drunk when the accident happened…

“The accident had nothing to do with alcohol. Nothing!. My charge was reckless driving that caused someone’s death. It wasn’t driving while impaired.

“It wasn’t alcohol that caused the death of Dr. Suraj. It wasn’t… it wasn’t…there was nothing that concerned alcohol with the unintentional accident.

They keep breaking me with these false accusations in public. The public bought into them and perhaps, accepted I was drunk on that day.

“I keep praying to God to release me from this miserable bondage…I am broken! My life is uncomfortable.. I do not go out. I hardly socialize. I am afraid.

Seyi Shay shares her mother’s last words

Seyi Shay has opened up on a void in her heart which according to her nothing can fill.

She said that most nights she thinks of her dead mother before going to bed and some of her last words to her.

She said: “Currently all my father does is to pray for me. Before my mother died, her last words to me were that I should become all I can be and I would eventually make it in Nigeria.

“I really miss my mother and I wish she could see everything that I am doing now.

“I wish she could see that I have not given up despite the setbacks I encounter in my job. I think my mother would be proud of me.”

“If my mother was alive, I am sure she would always ask me when I would introduce her to my fiancé but before her death, she never pressured me about marriage.

“Before she died, she told me that I should make sure I have done everything I wanted to do before any other thing.

“She said I should not let any man stop my dream. That is what she said to me. Now, I am ready for marriage, I even sang about it in my new project.”

Speaking more about her recent project which is her new EP, Electric Package, she told Saturday Beats that she has gone back to her roots with the body of work.

“I started the process of this EP in November; I recorded over 20 songs but picked the best six songs based on the story I want to tell.

“I picked the most indigenous songs because I want to connect with my roots again.

“People think I am too foreign, so I wanted to show them that I am not. The first song I released was ‘Loving Your Way, and this EP goes back to that sound which I started with.

“Everybody is doing the Shaku Shaku dance and it took me a long time to learn the dance.

“D’banj taught me how to dance it and I am glad to say that I can do the dance step.

“It was not till I learnt how to dance it that I realized that it is quite easy.

“People think it is about the footwork but it is more about the hand movement; if you get the hand and head movement right, the footwork would be easy,” she said.

Duncan Mighty cries out, “My wealth is not from oil bunkering”

Duncan Mighty cries out

Duncan mighty has debunked the insinuation that he became wealthy as a result of his involvement in oil bunkering.

The singer hinted to Saturday Beats that people had always held the belief that he must have gone into something illegal to be very wealthy.

However, he said he had never felt bad about such speculation.

He said:

“I have read in several places where people link my wealth to illegal activities like oil bunkering but I don’t feel bad about it. Such things are normal. Making money in life for me is not the ultimate thing.

“People would always judge how you make money especially when they know where you are coming from.

“They know that my family did not have money while I was growing up so they would question my wealth.

When God blesses you, he does not look at where you are coming from.

“It is just a normal thing for people to talk about the way you made your money without talking about how you suffered,” he said.

Duncan said that unknown to many people, he has invested heavily in construction and that is where he makes most of his money and not through music.

“It is good to make money. I am a very hard working man and aside music, I own and run a construction company. In each of my sites, I have at least 43 staff members who work as engineers.

“So, apart from music, I do civil engineering works. Despite the fact that I am an artiste, I am also an engineer.

“I make money from my works, I have done good jobs and people refer me to others that need my services.

“I lease heavy duty machines as well. I am not bragging but showing you how hard I work. Money does not make a man.”

He seized the opportunity to advise his colleagues to leverage on their fame while they are still in demand because tomorrow might be too late.

Mighty said, “I am using this medium to talk to other artistes, music should not be the only way you make money. No man can reign forever, it is only Jesus that can reign forever. The young must grow and the new must come; you might be the ‘new’ kid on the block today but years down the line, you would become ‘old school’.

“You do not have a choice over things like this. You should be able to build your life to an extent without entirely depending on music.

“Without music, you can still build a skyscraper. It is too bad when an artiste does not have a new song and because of that gets broke. I see no reason why a musician would not invest his money in other sectors.

“When you invest early, people would always tell you that you have money. I did not squander my money;

“I have a good home, I have impacted on so many lives, my vehicles and companies are running fine, so why would people not say that I have too much money?

“I have too much money because I work too much. As an artiste, you should learn to diversify.

“If it means you should sell pure water, please do so, forget about pride.

“When you make money from a show, put it in your business. Don’t forget that normal businessmen and politicians are not as popular as artistes, so you can leverage on your fame and work.

“Don’t use your fame to chase the slay queens on the internet; use your name to invest and make money so that when you are old, people would buy your product.”

Nollywood Actor, Emeka Okoro says marriage was a turning point in his life

Nollywood Actor Emeka Okoro who found love and got married to the love of his life about a decade ago has said marriage remains a major turning point in his life.

He told Saturday Beats that shortly after he got married, he gave his life to Christ and has been grateful to God for that decision ever since.

He said, “Those times I used to indulge in so many inconsiderate decisions and actions without thinking twice but my marriage was like a turning point in my life because things started changing.

“Even when I got married, I was still living some kind of lifestyle until one day that I met with God then he started working on me and that was about eight years ago.

“God had been working on me all through the eight years before he finally released me to return to the movie world.

“Giving my life to Christ was the major reason that I reduced the way I featured in movies.

“When God comes into your life, you have to dance to his tune and until he releases you, you cannot really move. This time round, I am listening to the spirit of God. Whatever I do now, I have to listen to the spirit of God.”

Known to be a playboy in the past, the actor opened up that he was a womaniser until God took control of his life.

In the past, I was a playboy and I used to do things like a guy who does not really care about life.

“The normal things men do like chasing women, but now that I am born again, I do not do those things anymore; whatever I do now I have God at the back of my mind,” he said.

He was quick to add that despite being a born-again Christian, he can still act in romantic movies.

“It does not mean that I cannot take a romantic role in movies. The only difference is that I would do that with a clean mindset.

“Back in days, whenever I did romantic movies, there was lust in my mind.

“So after the movie, I could go out to do it physically but now, I would play that part without any iota of feelings and that is what it means to give your life to Christ. Your heart becomes pure,” Okoro said.

RMD reveals close bond with Ego Boyo

Veteran actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo ne TV series ‘Mr X Family’ will be premiering on Sunday, May 6, on DsTV channel 151, Africa Magic Showcase.

Ahead of the premiere, he has given an interesting insight into the close bond he shares with screen darling, Ego Boyo.

He said, in his words: “she represents the female side of what I present for male actors in Nigeria.”

The series, starring himself alongside Ego Boyo as couple is sure to  mark the actors’ reunion after they co-starred in the now rested TV series,“Checkmate,” and the  late Amaka Igwe’s produced movie, “Violated” as a couple over two decades ago.

RMD’s co-starring with  Ego Boyo again has been generating a lot of excitement among fans.

But the veteran actor said she’s the only actress that fits into the character.

“I was looking for somebody who cuts across different generations.

“I needed someone who represents the female side of what I represent for male actors in Nigeria.

“I think Ego Boyo fits into that description,” RMD told HVP in a chat during the week.

While Ego Boyo is a very busy woman, the veteran actor said getting her to star in the new TV series, after she took a long break from acting was not an easy task.

Describing  “Mr X Family” as a family drama series that viewers will surely fall in love with.

RMD said it chronicles the story of a man who’s trying to raise his children in a morally debased society.

The actor explained that every season  of the series is made of 13 episodes.

The upcoming TV series which also marks RMD’s debut as a producer is already generating a lot of buzz in the industry.

Announcing their reunion on his Instagram page last year, RMD  wrote:

“I can only hope that getting back together again on TV will tickle fans of Ann Hathrope and Segun Kadiri and the fans of Tega and Peggy who have been craving to have them grace their TV screens again.”

“Ego and I are pretty excited about this and hope the excitement catches on,” he added.

Boyo and RMD are most remembered for their roles in pop-culture staple, “Checkmate,” which ran from 1991 to 1995, and starred RMD as Segun Kadiri, the arch-enemy turned lover of Ann Haastrup ( Boyo).

In 1996, the duo also returned as Tega and Peggy in “Violated”, a movie that tells the story of a wealthy man who falls in love with a woman beneath his background.

Banky W shares how he almost quit music due to depression

Banky W shares how he almost quit music

Banky W has come out to reveal there was a time he almost quit music due to depression.

He revealed that he has had three cancer operations, has been robbed, kidnapped and had his house catch fire but despite all these, he is still waxing strong.

He made this revelation during a radio programme where he explained how he was robbed and kidnapped for about 45 minutes on the first day of 2009.

He said:

“All the money that I had saved for my music, I had spent on marketing, videos and other things.

“On the last day of December 2008, I realised that these things were not working out well for me because I had high hopes when I was returning to Nigeria from America.

“I believed that I would be the greatest artiste in the world till reality set in.

“I went to church for new year service as I always do and I prayed to God telling him that things were not working out fine for me. I even wrote down my prayer point, telling God what I wanted.

As I left the church, I got accosted by armed robbers at about past 1 am and that was the worst 45 minutes of my life.

“They drove around and demanded that I withdraw money from my account for them. At that point, I was already broke, depressed, frustrated and tired.

“I was already regretting the fact that I came to Nigeria because when my parents knew about my decision, they were worried, especially my mother.

“They all told me that it would not work and then I got robbed. After I got robbed, a few days later, the caretaker of my house got drunk, took my car and drove it into a neighbour’s wall on the same estate.

“That was my only means of transportation and it was gone. This was a car that was always breaking down all over Lagos.

“I had already started releasing music and fame came before fortune.

“Sadly, anytime someone sees you on television, they assume that you have money.

“At the time, I would borrow N5,000 from Segun Demuren every Monday to fuel my car and buy airtime for my phone.

“Luckily for me, I had somewhere to lay my head and there was food on the table.

“But that is how bad things were for me. When I got robbed and my car was later damaged, I did not know how to get around.

“At that time, I sat in my room depressed and Segun came around and asked me for my next move.

“I told him that it would be nice to record a new album but that I did not have the funds.

“He asked who I wanted to work with and I told him Cobhams. Back then, we were not friends and to be honest, getting Cobhams’ services is not cheap.

“We called his office and got the price. Segun actually went to borrow money and gave it to me.

“He said I should use a fraction of it to fix my car while I use the rest for my album.

“Then, I was very close to throwing in the towel and returning to America. I thought of getting a job as well but we held on.

“I decided to start again but work differently. I changed my method and approach.

“I worked with Cobhams and the first song we did was ‘Strong Thing.’ That was the song that changed the game for me,” he said.

The singer used his life story to advise those going through a rough time, reminding them that things would get better.

“I am saying all this because sometimes when you have hit rock bottom and it feels like everything you have tried is not working; the good news is that the only place to go is up.

“It is in that moment you need to hold on a little bit longer.

You tell yourself that things are bad but I did not die and since you have breath in your lungs, you have the chance to turn things around because tomorrow is a new day.

“Crying over your past is not going to do anything for you,” Banky W said.

The actress is undoubtedly one of the most promising actress in the industry.

She is known for roles in movies such as Solider Boy, Empire, Descendants of Jezebel and Woman in me.

According to the budding actress, her boobs make it impossible for men to resist her.

“This male fan sent me a message via Facebook messenger. He said he loves to watch me on screen and each time he sees my movies, he concentrates on my boobs. He said he simply can’t take his eyes off my boobs and wonders what it will cost him to feel them. I was really embarrassed, honestly.”

However, the script interpreter revealed that while growing up, her big boobs made her feel abnormal amongst her peers:

“It really did. But after a while, I got to realise it’s actually a blessing and not abnormality. It is a blessing to me now (smiles).”

On her being a very forgiving and romantic personality;

#BBNaija: “Dear Nina,” – Nigerian lady writes open letter to Nina

Dear Nina

“Dear Nina”

Nigerian Facebook user, Trishia Agomuo, who’s one of housemate, Nina’s supporters, has taken to her Facebook page to pen down a letter to her.

She writes,

Dear Nina

You wouldn’t know how happy i am to see you reach to the finals out of 20 housemates that came into big brother house. Not that you are the most intelligent, beautiful, hardworking etc but by the grace of God Almighty.

I remember when you told me about going to big brother with me so that we can go scatter the house… Lol… We concluded after school. But at the process we had issues (bestfriend issues) and you succeeded for what you pursued and left for South Africa. I heard about this and decided to send a good luck message to you, unfortunately, your phone has already been taken from you. When you went there and mentioned my name and also said i broke your heart…..

I couldn’t stop laughing cos i felt the bond from afar. Trust me, i never felt bad whenever you call others as close friends cos you and i know none of them are close to you. I only smiled cos it’s never your fault. I know a lot of insults, DM’s i have received from people requesting for me to talk against you just for the Internet.. Lol… but trust me babygirl, that’s the last thing i can ever do.

Nina Nina, a girl that consoles me whenever I’m heartbroken, the girl that always make sure we are in school together, have fun together, gossip together, laugh together etc. You told your mum you will be a celebrity one day, but she actually taught it was a joke. But now, mummy couldn’t believe her babygirl has made her proud.

I know you were surprise to see Bimbo on screen. Even when he wasn’t among people you keep mentioning their names. You couldn’t believe it but it was actually real. The real people are right behind you, no matter what. You will always be my Nina. I will always support and fight for you the way you have always love and fought for me.

Your family have always been my family and will always be. God knows i have worked hard as a best friend. And i will keep on working hard with your siblings and your other supporters this week.

Child of Grace that’s what you are.
God is with you Chinonso

This is where i drop my pen

Meet this 21-year-old Kenyan student & her 54-year-old American lover (Photos)

A Kenyan student in the United States has gone viral after her relationship with her American boyfriend became a trending topic over their age-gap.

Speaking to Mail Online, 21-year-old Rehab Kimani said she met Joe Singiser, 54, through work at a nursing home in New Jersey.

A student and home health aide, Rehab said that her friends got disgusted by her choice of boyfriend. They even stopped her from talking about her man whenever she was around them.

“I thought he was very attractive and immediately wanted him,” she revealed. “I really liked his big muscles and that everyone at work was afraid of him.”

Rehab also reveals that despite being very comfortable on their first date, it was hard for her to deal with the way her family reacted as they did not take it positively.

“I just see him as my boyfriend and my best friend. If anything, the difference is that I take this relationship as more serious than previous ones. It took everyone a long time, but they are finally understanding of us being together.” She said.

Mr Singiser is a father of four and Rehab’s supervisor at work. He says he was ‘startled’ when he got interested in his younger employee but opted to press on with the relationship because he knew it was true love.

He says he noticed her beautiful smile from the across the room and would find excuses to come out of his office just to see her.

Rehab says that she no longer sees the age difference. However, they do draw looks from strangers on the streets.

Former SA President Jacob Zuma, set to take seventh wife

Jacob Zuma

A 24-year-old woman is set to become 76-year-old South African former President Jacob Zuma’s seventh wife.

The beautiful lady, identified as Nonkanyiso Conco confirmed to the Times Live that she and Zuma are getting married.

“Yes‚ we are getting married‚ but that is all I can say. I need to consult before I give any interviews‚” she said.

News24 reports that the woman gave birth to a baby last week at the Busamed Hillcrest Private Hospital last Thursday – Zuma’s birthday.

Conco is a director of the Pietermaritzburg-based Nomkhubulwane Culture and Youth Development Organisation‚ aimed at protecting the cultural practices of Zulu maidens.

Conco reportedly resides in the plush Ballito Estate Hilltop‚ home to some of the city’s most well-heeled residents. She would be Zuma’s youngest bride‚ at 52 years his junior.

Zuma‚ who has always been a proponent of polygamy‚ is currently married to Gertrude Sizakele Khumalo‚ Thobeka Madiba-Zuma and Bongi Ngema-Zuma. He is divorced from Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and separated from Nompumelelo MaNtuli Zuma.

In total, Zuma has fathered 22 known children from at least 11 women.

Three independent sources confirmed to News24 that Zuma came to visit his baby under strict security on Thursday night.

“They had to clear the maternity ward for other patients. Hospital staff made it clear that this was strictly confidential,” a source with direct knowledge of the birth told News24.

Ray Zuma, who is related to the former president, confirmed to News24 that Zuma was going to wed a woman named Nonkanyiso Chonco.

When asked if Chonco was the same woman who had given birth to a baby earlier this month, Ray Zuma responded by saying: “So?”

“I can’t see why you are interested. When he was still the president, you [the media] were terrorising him, and now you are all of a sudden interested in him.”

When asked about the details of the wedding, he said he was not privy to the details.

“No date has been set yet. Both families must come together to decide on the date. We are still in the pre-nuptial phases of the process.”

When News24 visited the hospital earlier in the week, an employee confirmed that Zuma had visited the facility.

“Yes he was here last week. I saw him with his security. I do not know why he came through.”

But other sources confirmed the baby was Zuma’s. Hospital staff were briefed to keep it a closely guarded secret and only told “this is JZ’s child” and a “VIP delivery”.

Hillcrest Private Hospital management declined to comment saying they would not divulge details of any patient.

“There’s no corruption in Buhari’s government” – VP Yemi Osinbajo asserts

Yemi Osinbajo

Yemi Osinbajo reacts

Away from the #LazyNigerianYouths drama, the Vice-president has been quoted saying something noteworthy.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says there is no single corruption in the Buhari-led administration.

Prof. Osinbajo said this while receiving the leadership of The Companion, an association of Muslim Businessmen and Professionals, in his office in Abuja, recently.

“One thing that is very sure now is that this presidency is not stealing and we have a President who is not stealing and will not steal. There is no corruption in the presidency under the current government. This kind of body language is what is saving this country a lot of money now. Like what is happening in JAMB, Customs, FIRS, NPA, FAAN, NIMASA where we have witnessed improved revenue collection and returns to govt for unspent resources. When we begin to deal with corruption in all facets of government particularly within the public sector, there will be a lot of improvement in our country. The government is also looking at improving ease of doing business to be able to attract more foreign direct investment over a period of time. All MDA’s will be made to submit their expenditure in line with the budget as well and in compliance with the accounting year”. Osinbajo said.

Sad : Baby girl suffocated in her sleep after teddy bear fell on her

Baby girl

Baby girl

A young mother of a toddler has revealed the moment she discovered her baby girl had been suffocated in her sleep by a stuffed toy at the side of her bed.

Dexy Leigh Walsh, 23, found 18-month-old Connie Rose’s body in her bed with the giant teddy on top of her. Dexy said she had stuffed a narrow gap between Connie Rose’s bed and the wall with soft toys to stop her from falling off the bed. But when she went to check on her, she found her underneath the 3ft-tall teddy and not breathing.

Efforts were made to revive the child but she was eventually pronounced dead by paramedics at their home in Dundee.

Dexy narrated to MailOnline:

It was just a normal school morning. I went through to the girls’ room to waken them up and get Dior ready for school. When I opened the door all I could see of my little girl was her legs sticking out from under the teddy. She was lying face facing up in the bed but with the big teddy on top of her. She wasn’t breathing.

I immediately started CPR on her while someone phoned for an ambulance. I was speaking to the ambulance people as I tried to bring her around. My mum who lives closely arrived and she took over. When the paramedics came they tried as well but it was too late. My little girl had gone.

Grieving her daughter’s death, Dexy said:

I just think now that if I had taken away all the soft toys out of the bed at night, she may have fallen out. She may have only hurt herself. Maybe a broken arm but she would still be with us.

Connie Rose was buried on March 21, with family members releasing pink balloons into the sky in her memory. Dexy has now started a campaign urging parents not to leave cuddly toys in young children’s beds overnight.

Armed robbery suspect tries to commit suicide moments after judge sentenced him to death in Edo

Robbery suspect tries to commit suicide

An armed robber, pictured, is reported to have attempted to commit suicide after a judge presiding at a High court sentenced him to death.

The suspect attempted suicide this morning at the High Court, Sapele Road, Benin City after he was sentenced to death for his crime.

Few days ago, five operatives attached to Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS) were arrested over alleged robbery attempt on one Mr Immanuel James, at Ago-Palace way, Okota, a Lagos suburb.

The Lagos State Police Command Spokesman, SP Chike Oti, while confirming the arrest of the policemen on Tuesday said the suspects — two Inspectors and three Sergeants –were SARS operatives attached to Ipakodo.

Oti told newsmen that the men were not operatives from the Federal SARS, Ikeja Unit as reported.

He, however, said that one Insp. Jude Akhoyemta, who was earlier mentioned in the matter among suspects, was found to be innocent.

“In line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, the Command hereby informs the general public that further enquiry into the allegation of harassment of one Immanuel James Ibe-Anyanwu by SARS operatives at Ago-Palace way, Okota revealed the true identity of officers involved in the highly regrettable incident.

“Those involved are currently undergoing interrogation at the Command’s X-Squad Section and would be marched before an Adjudicating Officer at the Police Provost Department for the commencement of their orderly room trial,” Oti said.

#BBNaija: “Why I like Cee-C” – Ghanaian actress, Lydia Forson writes

Lydia Forson has taken to social media to share why she is drawn to controversial housemate, Cee-C and how her personal battles reflects some of the realities many viewers deal with.

The infamous housemate is kinda gathering support from some celebrities, despite a wide backlash from other viewers of the show for her attitude towards Tobi.

One of these celebrities that have shown support, is Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson.

She wrote on her page,

“I love Big brother because it forces us to have conversations we’d usually never have and expose our own understanding of people and the world around us.

Last year it was on sexual consent and this year is on anger management.

What people don’t appreciate is while you’re entertained, these housemates are confined to a space , forced to interact with people they’d never in the outside world and pushed to limits only those who’ve been a part can appreciate,” she wrote.

She continued,

“For those who stay true to themselves they’re forced to come face to face with who they really are, stare at the ugliest parts of themselves and made to confront them in the rawest way. It’s probably the hardest thing for anyone who’s never had to be vulnerable or this exposed, to do.

And this is why I was drawn to Cee-C, it had nothing to do with how entertaining I thought she was. Some of her actions were inexcusable and I found myself screaming at her through the television a few times; but I appreciated that she was flawed, had struggles and was working through them, even if it wasn’t at a pace people expected.”

She then went ahead to mention that she is not actually rooting for the housemate:

Many people recognize themselves in her struggle,a part of our lives cameras don’t always capture, a battle with strong emotions and self control- and we appreciated her journey.

And that’s why it’s been disheartening to read from people who I know DO NOT have it all together; but quick to join in to call her animal, unfit to live and a mental case( exposing your own ignorance about the real battle of mental disorders). If your prescription to a crazy person is to act crazy yourself then you both need to be locked up.

And no, this is not a campaign, because her winning the money doesn’t mean much to me;the winners of these shows aren’t always the ones with fat bank accounts after – that doesn’t always last – it’s those who take what the experience put them through and see the gold that it is to be better after.

Hopefully she’s made us reflect a little more on our lives, how we’re perceived by the world and what we can do to become better.

You might think you’ve got it all together until you have a camera follow you around for 24hrs.
